Some New Sweaters, and Some Old Favorites

AND they have spectacular sales quite often.

Combine that with their FREE SHIPPING (with no minimum) and their top notch customer service (it’s THE BEST), and they have a customer for life in me.

In addition to carrying amazing brands that we all know and love like Free People, J Crew, Madewell, Steve Madden, Sam Edelman, etc…Nordstrom also has a great variety of house brands including 1901, Chelsea 28, BP, Caslon, Halogen, Treasure and Bond and more.  These brands have actually become some of my favorite to shop.  #everybodygetsit #ilovenordstrom

So today I’m featuring two of my new NORDSTROM HOUSE BRAND purchases!

OUTFIT #1:  FAIR ISLE SWEATER WITH FAVORITE BLACK JEANS

How festive is this fair isle sweater?!?  It’s from 1901, a DARLING house brand that has great basics, but also often has special pieces.  Like this sweater!

It’s adorable and of course perfect for December, but I wore this in November, and I’ll continue to wear it thru March.

I love that it’s festive without being an over the top Christmas sweater, and it just makes me happy!

It’s on the shorter side (might not be for you if you have a super long torso), but for me it’s plenty long to either do a 1/2 tuck or wear out.  For size reference, I’m wearing a small, and it’s still a relaxed fit.

I love the pink, red, grey, black, and white combo of the sweater so much.  And although I love it with my black jeans, I think it would look great with regular blue jeans and white jeans as well!

IMPORTANT INFO:  When ordering on Nordstrom right now, they have a handy dandy little prompt that pops up in red, telling you if your item will arrive by Christmas Eve or not.  Most of the items featured in today’s post WILL arrive in time, and that’s with regular shipping.  You could always pay for expedited shipping (there are both $12 and $20 options), and with those options, most of the items highlighted today would get to you before this weekend!

Now let me tell you a cute story about my Starbucks cup.

Here’s the background:  I’ve been sick  since last Friday.  Like 2 Fridays ago, or 10 days ago.  (I ran fever early on and felt terrible for several days, but I’m luckily feeling MUCH better now.  Sadly, I’m still having pressure issues in my ear and I’m still coughing up a storm.  I haven’t had a good night’s sleep in soooooooo long, and I’m OVER IT.)

Well, when Chris and I were outside taking these pics (because the show must go on, y’all), my sweet friend Narci dropped by a Medicine Ball for me.  It was such a sweet gesture and so very appreciated.  AND COME ON!  I’ve been a blogger for 7 years now, and I think I’ve only posed with a Starbucks cup for 1 other shoot.  IT WAS TIME.  Haha!

My black jeans are from Wit and Wisdom, and you know I’m one of their biggest fans.  Just like some of the other jeans I’ve highlighted in the past, these jeans have the Ab-solution technology.  Which means that the jeans suck you in, while somehow still allowing you to breathe.  They just hug you in all the right places and they don’t stretch out during the day.  And of utmost importance… they are stupid comfy.

I sure do wish we would have grabbed a side view shot of my black boots, but when we were taking the pictures I thought they were sold out.  And truth be told, I didn’t want to show you the side view of the boots, because I knew y’all would want them (and they weren’t available).

Not only are they available again!  They are NOW ON SALE!

I LOVE THESE BOOTS.  I’ve had them for a couple of years now, and they are awesome.  They go great with both jeans and dresses, and the wedge heel makes them so comfy.  True to size for me.

OUTFIT #2:  SIMPLE V NECK WITH MOTO JACKET

For outfit #2, I went less festive and more classic.

With a bit of an edge.

I kept everything else the same, I just switched the sweaters and added a jacket.

Instead of a bright and vibrant fair isle print, I chose to mix neutrals, gold, and black together to make a different type of impact.

This sweater is crazy soft, light weight, and feels great on.  I’m wearing a small, and it’s still quite oversized, so you should definitely consider sizing down.  The online reviews are fantastic, and other people weigh in on sizing too, most recommending to size down.

This is a wonderful office sweater.  It’s a great basic that can be styled in many different types of outfits.  It’s from Chelsea 28, a brand that also has awesome basics, but you can also find some really great elevated pieces (think lacy and modern cocktail dresses and sequin camisoles)!

I’m wearing it in “brown shitake”, and it’s a gorgeous neutral without being cream or white.

BAM!

You’re edgy.

It’s the gold hardware that makes this jacket so special.  The cut and the fit are awesome too.  I’m wearing a medium in the jacket. (It has a removable hood, and I removed it.)

HOUSE BRAND SWEATER REVIEW

(Spoiler Alert:  It Seems I’m Obsessed with House Brand Sweaters)

In order to further support the fact that I love the Nordstrom house brands, I thought it would be fun to look back on other looks from the last several months that feature a piece from a house brand. Fair warning, there’s a lot of them.

This first sweater (that y’all LOVED!) was from just last week, and it just went 40% OFF!!!

This cable turtleneck tunic sweater is so classic and so chic.  It’s a thick cable knit and beautifully made.  It’s oversized and fits more like a sweater dress than a sweater, and I love it.

And because of the oversized fit, it pairs perfectly with my SPANX faux leather leggings.  I would suggest sizing up in the leggings.  I’m wearing a medium in the leggings and a small in the sweater.

A really great sweater is one of my favorite articles of clothing.  BONUS POINTS if it can be worn with both jeans and leggings.

You’ve seen this one several times, and it’s still on sale!

I’ve had this sweater (in black) for a couple of years now and it’s been a favorite for sure.  It’s such a great basic that you can throw on with so many things, I absolutely LOVE that it’s long enough on my 5’4″ frame for leggings, and it’s held up great in the wash.  I’m wearing a small, and it’s still oversized on me and long enough for leggings.  If you’re tall and want it long enough for leggings, consider sizing up.

I love this rusty red, but it also comes in a light grey, a very pale blush, a mustard, and a teal.  I actually really like all the colors.

I found this review online that I think sums up how fantastic this sweater really is.  And I think it sometimes help to hear endorsements from people other than me, so I’m just going to copy and paste it for you here:

Longest lasting sweater!  This is my go-to sweater! I have it in white and black and have seriously worn it at least once a week for the last two years in the fall/winter months. It’s so basic you can tuck it into high wasted pants with a jacket, throw it on over workout leggings and sneakers, or dress it up skinny jeans and knee high boots. This sweater has withheld seattle rain, coffee stains, baby spit up, and I even put it in the dryer and it has little to no pilling.

This year has been the year of the cashmere sweater for me.

I finally invested in a great one, and I grabbed it in both black and camel. I’ve worn them both countless times this year (as you are about to see), and this sweater is NOW ON SALE!

If you don’t already have a cashmere sweater, get yourself one!  If you are willing to invest in one, I’m recommending this classic cashmere sweater (and there’s a turtleneck version HERE).  The cashmere is ultra soft and obviously gives it a very luxurious feel. This particular sweater is just under $100, which is a great price for a 100% cashmere sweater, especially a sweater that you will have in your closet for years and years.

I would normally buy a medium in a sweater like this, but I followed the recommendation to size down and I’m glad I did.  I despise clingy sweaters, and the small is a perfectly relaxed fit on me.

The versatility of this sweater really does range from weekend wear with jeans, to office wear with suits and pencil skirts.  It simply morphs to the needs of the outfit and the occasion.  It is truly a classically beautiful wardrobe staple.  It’s just pretty.  The color, the fit, the material.  All of it.  Pretty.

I adore the color of the sweater, and I especially like how this pretty blush scarf looks with it  The site calls the sweater “red mum”, but I definitely think it leans coral.  It’s soft, it’s a relaxed fit, I love the wide band at the bottom, and it’s the perfect length to wear out or do a 1/2 tuck.  This sweater comes in TONS of colors, and I have several of them.  That’s how much I love it.  I’m wearing a small, and it’s still oversized.  The site recommends to size down 1.

The scarf is soooooooooo soft and very warm.  I highly recommend it as well.
