Today we’re talking tweed, ladies.
Tweed is definitely having a moment. Actually, it’s having way more than a moment.
Tweed is a fashion “trend” that’s been around for years and years. But one would argue, if it’s been around for years and years, it’s not really a “trend”. Instead, it should be considered a classic that returns every Fall and never goes out of style. In year’s past it seems that tweed was often reserved for trousers, blazers, and pea coats…but not anymore! Now you can find tweed in all sorts of wardrobe pieces including bags, shirts, skirts, boots, dresses, and even sneakers.
I’ve got two outfits for you today that incorporate two very different types of tweed pieces. I’m featuring a bag and a jacket. I hope you consider hopping on the tweed train with me!
FEATURE #1: A GREAT TWEED BAG
While searching for tweed for this post, I was immediately smitten when I stumbled upon Kurt Geiger tweed bags. There are tons to choose from, and they are all awesome.

Truth be told, I just couldn’t make a decision online, so I ordered 5 bags. I held my breath hoping I would love just one of them as much in person as I did when browsing online.
Well, I liked them even more that I thought I was going to. And I liked all 5. #oops
I finally decided on this one, and I’m beyond thrilled with my new bag.

I love how the gold, black, and pinky red colors all weave together to create the tweed, and the fringe embellishments give the bag definition and extra style. It’s a great medium size (10 1/2 x 7 1/4 x 3), has a divider inside, and boasts two magnetic snap closures.

The strap is made up of a brushed gold chain and the same tweed from the bag is repeated on the upper portions of the straps. And look at the chain inspired buckle on the flap. All of the details are gorgeous.
You can double up the chain to wear it on the crook of your arm…
or over your shoulder.
And then you can also pull the chain through to wear it long over your shoulder.
It can also be worn as a cross body. It’s a really great bag.

Let’s break down the rest of the outfit…
The earrings are light as a feather, but they manage to still make quite a statement. The sunnies (excuse the smudges) are my favorite pair of sunglasses I own. They are sturdy, I love the shape, and the style goes with everything. I have them in matte black as well.
Also, I am always getting questions about the dainty rings I wear. They are Bony Levy, and I’ve been collecting them for around 6 years now. I got one for Christmas one year, I got one for an anniversary, and I found the others on serious sale (we’re talking 2 of them for 60% OFF) and snatched them up.

The sweater is the same one you’ve been seeing me feature for weeks now. It is a wonderful basic and a luxe cashmere that doesn’t totally break the bank. I showed it HERE with the best back plants ever (back in stock!). And I showed the same sweater in a gorgeous camel color back on this Camel Sweater| 3 Ways post. It’s a wardrobe staple that you will wear for years and years, so I think it’s worth the extra money.

Okay, the jeans. We’re going to talk about them again, just in case there’s a new reader here that hasn’t heard me gush about these jeans. Because let’s be honest, if I’m able to convince even one more person to buy these jeans today, it will be worth it. I’m just trying to change lives over here, people. #kidding #kindof #thesejeansreallyarelifechanging
I’ve been talking about these Itty Bitty Boot Cut jeans for several years now, and last year I named them Gateway Jeans in this post.
These jeans elongate my legs and give the appearance of like 2 extra inches in height! And they suck me in, while still allowing me to breathe! It’s a thing of wonder, y’all.
In short, these are jeans for real women.
The comfort level is unbelievable, they hold their shape, they launder perfectly, AND THEY JUST MAKE YOU FEEL GREAT. They are mid rise, they stay in place, and they don’t sag. UM, YES PLEASE.
I mean. Look how long my legs look! At almost 5’4″, I wear a regular size 4 in these jeans (if between sizes, size down for sure). I do have to wear the regular sizing with heeled booties or heels, but that just helps contribute to the long leg illusion.

If you look at the picture below, this is exactly where I like the hem of my boot cut jeans to fall. I don’t want the jeans dragging the floor, but showing too much shoe will ruin the elongating effect that’s happening! And I’m telling you, you don’t want to mess with the magic of these jeans.

I really like the the simplicity of the base outfit with the black sweater, the jeans, the gold hoops, and the leopard booties! It’s great on it’s own, but my goodness I love how the tweed bag adds a whole lot of sophistication and style.

And a little behind the scenes…
As I mentioned earlier, I ordered 5 Kurt Geiger tweed bags when preparing for this post. These are the 5 I ordered, and I thought all of them were beautiful and unique. They are different sizes (mine is the medium size), they all have different color tweeds, different color fringe, and different embellishments on the front flap. Some of the chains are brushed gold, some are silver, and some are gunmetal. Click HERE to see the entire selection.

FEATURE #2: AN EDGY TWEED MOTO JACKET
This isn’t your ordinary tweed jacket.
black cashmere sweater / tweed moto jacket / pave disc necklace / sunglasses / hoop earrings / itty bitty boot cut jeans (plus size jeans) / cognac tote / wedge booties
It remains classic with the pattern and the black and white color combo, but the moto style and metal hardware give this tweed a bit of a fun and edgy vibe. I switched out my leopard booties for some neutral wedge booties and the tweed bag for a cognac tote, but the rest of the outfit is the same.

Yep, the hardware makes this jacket.

It probably would have been more expected to go with a black bag and black shoes, but y’all know I always like a good contrasting color palette.

I’m wearing the jacket here with my beloved boot cut jeans (same as outfit #1), but I’m really looking forward to styling this jacket with skinny jeans and over the knee black boots for a mach sassier look with the tweed.

Love that tweed, Sheaffer! Give me all of it!
Shay Shull says
I had that exact bag in my cart for the longest time! I love it so much!! Give me all the tweed in the fall!!
Maggie says
Love the jacket! What size are you wearing?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Maggie! I would say the jacket is true to size. I sized up to a medium (as I most often do in jackets) and it’s a little boxy on me, but I think a small would be too small. I would stick to your regular size. xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Narci says
What???? That bag is darling! Oh, tweed makes me so happy! ❤️❤️❤️
Dena says
Are the itty bitty boot cut jeans you have on a little lighter than what they look like on the Nordstrom website? I have one pair that is dark wash but I want another pair and the ones you have on in this post look lighter than what I have.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Dena! Lighting always messes with colors so much. but mine are a dark wash. They are probably the same that you already have. xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
cindy allen says
Those bags are way prettier the way you photographed them than on the Nordstrom site! Thanks
Also, what is the lip stick/gloss color you have on? – it looks so pretty.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Cindy! The bags truly are gorgeous! My lips in this post are a mix of a couple of different lipsticks and glosses. So sorry! 🙁

Love that tweed bag!! Glad to see that tweed is coming back. I had some pink tweed pumps circa 2004-2005. They were ruined at the Ole Miss vs Alabama football when the ladies behind my group dropped a full fifth of Jack and it soaked my shoes. I could never get the whiskey smell out. Also, love those sunglasses!
