If you are new to the blog, this monthly review will be a great way for you see what I
generally do over here at Pinterest Told Me To.
But before I get started, let’s all say a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to MEGAN HOPPER!
Megan is the SPECIAL MAMA who won the $500 LOFT gift card and the
following Pinterest Told Me To picks:
boot cut jeans HERE,
These jeans received 47% of the vote! 1st runner up HERE (which are actually my favorite). 🙂
cognac riding boots HERE,
At last check, these boots had received 44% of the vote. 1st runner up HERE (I have these!)
Stella and Dot Sanibel pendant HERE
The Sanibel pendant received an overwhelming 71% of the vote!
It seems as if you ladies might like this versatile
necklace just as much as I do. I actually wore it 3/5 days this week,
but I only saw the same people 2/3 days, so I think that makes it okay. 😉
OKAY, ON TO MY SEPTEMBER FAVORITES!
ON SEPTEMBER 2nd I POSTED ABOUT LEOPARD.
The post was titled Meow and you can find it HERE.
I showed you how leopard accents (particularly flats) work with everything and tried to make you realize that every girl needs a little leopard in her life!
Click HERE for this Sam Edelman shoe and to read the FANTASTIC reviews.
My love for this shoe is a little overwhelming. 😉
Here’s a quick review of the list with some highlighted items that were the most popular.
*
A GREAT FITTING PAIR OF JEANS that MAKES YOU FEEL GREAT:
I have the clean cuffed pair HERE,
and I think they just might be my favorite pair of jeans I’ve ever owned.
I know that’s a bold statement, but I mean it. (I’m a size 4, and I ordered the 28 in these, even though I ordered a 27 in the other Vigoss jeans.) The cuffs are so “IN” right now, and I just love them.
They are perfect with booties and flats.
I also have the bootcut pair HERE .
The pockets look just like Hudsons to me (but they are like 1/3 of the price)! I took a 27 in these.
*
FOR A GORGEOUS PAIR OF COGNAC BOOTS:
Click HERE for the pair of cognac wedge boots that I bought this year! LOVE.
So comfy, perfect color, and I love the detailing.
So many of you have written me that you bought these and that you too are in love. 🙂
I also found THESE boots which Erika ended up buying.
LOVE the zippers on these.
And most recently tons of you wrote me about these little beauties.
I went to check them out and they were gorgeous and well priced for a tall boot.
Here they are on me:
Here is my review of the Penny boots
They
are a very pretty boot in a gorgeous cognac color with some black
rubbing (seen on the toe and heel mostly). I liked the height of them
and I liked how they had an asymmetrical rise at the knee. They had a
bit of a cowboy flare in person, which I wasn’t really expecting, but I
actually liked! I would highly recommend these boots to you girls that
were curious!
Click HERE for these boots! They also come in a wide calf version HERE!
One more wide calf option for you HERE.
*
SEVERAL GREAT BASIC SHIRTS:
Click HERE for the MUST HAVE shirt.
Remember to order 1 size down. (I’m wearing an x-small.)
If you don’t have one of these shirts yet, I’ve found that although I love this color below, I am wearing THE HECK out of my black one! It should be your first choice.
And I promise you that you NEED this shirt!
For a great basic solid color t-shirt, click HERE.
Click HERE for this lightweight sweater in a variety of colors.
*
A LIGHTWEIGHT JACKET GREAT FOR LAYERING:
Maybe a military jacket is what you are looking for when wanting a lightweight jacket?!?
Click HERE for a little girl’s version (I was able to wear the 10-12 and it’s 50% off!) and click HERE or the Free People version (only a large left).
They both have cute ruffled detail on the back of these jackets.
SO FLIPPING CUTE!
I really REALLY like THIS one!
It’s a fantastic price, and it’s simple. The gathered waist makes it SO cute!!!!
Yes. I am LOVING this jacket.
For size reference, my friend (Hi Amy!) thought the jacket ran a little
big and suggested that I should probably get an x-small.
Also, don’t be scared of Neiman’s LAST CALL. They aren’t old school
like the regular old Neiman’s. Visa and Mastercard are accepted.
dark denim jacket HERE, standard denim jacket HERE
I promise you that you really do need a great fitting denim jacket in your closet. Pay close attention to the fit. You don’t want it too boxy or it will look dated.
All of these I’ve highlighted have a great fit!
If you need some great black blazer options, click HERE or HERE.
*
Leopard belt HERE (I have this!).
3 great leopard scarf options HERE for $18 at Nordstrom!
Leopard scarf HERE (also comes in red, mustard, and orange).
I also stole these bootie choices from my bootie post!
1) black with leopard accents HERE ,
2) heeled option HERE
3) Sam Edelman Shay booties HERE
(Shay, I’m thinking the peeps over on Sam Edelman’s team must know you!)
4) a wedge option HERE (these are new and a PERFECT option if you just want a hint of leopard!),
Here I am in #2 above. Now that’s what I call a cute bootie!
*
These necklaces were both more than I would normally spend, but they have been SO WORTH IT.
*
bra like the model!)
Solid colors, stripes polka dots, lace details…something for everybody!

A GREAT FALL BAG
Check out THIS Michael Kors bag.
Brace yourself, it’s not cheap. It’s a gorgeous color, and I think the shape is totally cool.
And go ahead and start drooling over this Dooney and Bourke.
It’s STUNNING.
It’s expensive, but it’s stunning.
And I found THIS bag over the weekend on Pinterest.
I die.
If anybody wanted to buy it for me I wouldn’t be mad at ya.
But you might need to take up a collection.
More affordable options under $100:
(comes in COGNAC!, black, and grey – can be carried over the shoulder or cross-body)
Steve Madden Talia satchel HERE (comes in 4 colors)
Urban expressions satchel HERE
(love the details of the braided handle and the rope type seams, and I really like the
black and the nutmeg!
And one under $50: faux leather grey tote HERE.
Ooh wait! Lots of options under $50 HERE.
(Remember that this shirt runs big, so order 1 size down. For size reference, I’m wearing an x-small.)
(I LOVE these! Mine just came in the mail and they are perfection!
However, the “clean” pair seems to run a bit smaller than the distressed
pair. For size reference, I’m normally a “27”, but I ordered a “28” in
these.)
*plus size HERE
Sanibel pendant HERE (reversible)
MUST HAVE wedges HERE
(These do not come in 1/2 sizes. The reviews say to order a 1/2 size up, and I agree.)
I wore this exact same outfit to church just yesterday, but I turned my Sanibel pendant the other way and I threw on a scarf. I’m telling you, I mean it when I say all 3 of these items are MUST HAVES!
MUST HAVE shirt HERE
MUST HAVE jeans HERE
MUST HAVE wedges HERE
pendant HERE (reversible)
Super shiny, not sticky at all, and CHEAP.
And it comes in lots of beautiful colors.
the top color is raspberry / the bottom color is dandy
I love both of them, but I REALLY love the Dandy.
Totally laughing at Scout’s head growing out of my armpit.;)
Jacuard Dot sheer top| LOFT, exact HERE (sold out) BOO!
Infinity charm necklace| Stella and Dot, exact HERE (on sale!)
Cognac belt| LOFT, similar HERE and HERE
I love both of these belts. This past year I owned 3 belts and I wore
them all the time. A wide braided black leather belt, this tan light
brown leather belt, and an animal print belt that skinny and plain brown
in front. I just added THIS
one to my closet during the last LOFT sale (and it’s 40% off now!) A
good belt is something I’m willing to spend a little bit of money on
because I know I will wear it all the time!
Fossil gold watch| similar HERE
Clean cuffed jeans| Nordstrom, exact HERE
(These are MUST HAVES and so affordable!)
TOMS booties| Nordstrom, exact HERE
Make sure you check out the fantastic reviews!
ON SEPTEMBER 16th I TRIED TO CONVINCE YOU LADIES THAT COGNAC+BLACK = LOVE FOREVER
I linked to lots of cognac goodness including bags, boots, booties, belts, etc.
Click HERE to see all of my cognac ideas and links.
I also highlighted some cognac flats that are great for fall.
1) Sam Edelman cognac flats HERE, 2) Lucky cognac flats HERE 3) BP cognac flats HERE
All 3 of these are totally affordable and priced between $49.95 and $89.95!
And then I gave you some sound advice:
THROW CAUTION TO THE WIND,
PUT ON YOUR BIG GIRL PANTIES,
and
TOSS ALL PRE-CONCEIVED NOTIONS OF WHAT YOU WERE PREVIOUSLY TAUGHT ABOUT WEARING BLACK AND BROWN TOGETHER OUT THE WINDOW.
Oh, and I fell in love with this bag.
*GORGEOUS Coach shoulder bag with tassel HERE
LOVE.
I kinda want to marry this bag.
Love the structure.
Adore the tassel.
The color is gorgeous.

today and HAD to send it to you in case you missed it- I’m pretty sure
those are your Tom’s booties, no? I have concluded that SJP totally
reads your blog and lets you “boss” her around too! 😉
YES! I’m quite sure that SJP is reading my blog! 🙂
I also shared lots of other booties that I was loving.
1) Colten HERE
2) Hinge Addison HERE
The boots are small in the collage, but you really need to check them out!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE both of these!
Let’s start out slow and easy.
What about a taupe colored bootie with a low heel?
For those of you that still aren’t sure about a bootie at all,
these would be a great way to ease into the trend.
Chinese Laundry idea bootie HERE for under $100 (on top, these are a great look!)
Jeno bootie HERE (on bottom, almost sold out)
And my friend Narci got THESE.
We were both dying over the button detail and love the platform heel.
Check out Narci’s photography blog HERE for lots of goodness!

ON SEPTEMBER 23rd I announced a contest, and it was my most favorite post I have ever done!
I also loved how much you guys loved it! All of you ladies totally got on board with the excitement and you were all so happy that a special mom was going to be honored!
Again, thank you LOFT for being so generous! I know Megan is over the moon!
I spoke to Megan on the phone on Saturday, and once she spends all the $$, she is going to share what she got with us and she is also going to share a little bit of her story!
And this was such a hit, that I decided
I will DEFINITELY be doing this at least twice a year so the fun is not over yet. 🙂
I loved wrapping up the month with a week devoted to the special mamas contest!
What a WONDERFUL way to end the month.
So, Good-bye September.
What do you think? Did you like the month in review?
And Hello October!

Alison @ Get Your Pretty On says
What a great month it's been at Pinterest Told Me To! Love that SJP is wearing those Tom's booties. Too cute!
Style Journey says
You have had a great month! I really enjoy reading your blog and how enthusiastic you are. Looking forward to tomorrow's link up!
Danielle Duhon says
I am so excited for Megan!!! You should update us with all the goodies she gets 🙂 Thanks for the awesome month…I have gotten so many of the things you recommended and love them ALL. I just moved from McKinney to Austin this summer–sad our paths never crossed.
Stacey C says
Do you wear your favorite skinny jeans with tall boots? How do they fit with the cuff inside the boots? Thanks!!
Sheaffer says
Hi Stacey! So sorry, but I don't know. I haven't tried wearing them with tall boots yet. I'm pretty short so I'm guessing they would be too bulky.
Hope this helps!
xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂
Tab & Erika says
I LOVE your blog!! Felt like I needed to tell you again. 🙂 I think it's great because when I shop alone I always wonder what other people will think…will other people think it's as cute as I do, am I crazy or is it REALLY cute? You know what I mean? But…you do the work for us and then we all can skip that step and we know it's cute! Thank you Friend!!
Narci D says
I love that you put together a September favorites post–anything from lip gloss to booties….You have us covered! Thanks for making life easy for busy mommas everywhere!
Narci D says
PS Love those booties & Love you! 🙂
smk053078 says
This is such a great idea. It helps us all want to go out and shop again and again….loving that you are loving leopard!! And congrats to the winner….I bet she was so excited!!
Tiffany {A Touch of Grace} says
Ok but the question is….do you like the square toed leopard Sams better than the round toe? I'm still struggling. I haven't worn mine since in case I want to exchange them for the square toed ones.
Love the leopard scarf too. Definitely picking that baby up soon!
So excited for the monthly recap!
Jackie T. says
Yep, September was great…good recap! And now for a fashion dilemma…I can't decide if I want the Sanibel in silver or gold. I wear so much gold now, including the Kimberly…do I need some silver?
Thanks and also congratulations to the Special Momma!
Sheaffer says
Hi Jackie! I have the gold, and I'm really happy I have the gold. I feel like every time I try to put on one of my silver necklaces right now, I just end up switching to gold. HOWEVER, my friend Lori just got ordered the Kimberly and the silver Sanibel and she is sooooooo happy she got it in silver!
I hope I didn't just confuse you even more!
xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂

Sheaffer, I have been reading your blog for several months now. While I usually don't comment on blogs, I feel like I need to finally give you a huge thank you! I wish I could hug you, but I'm in SC and you're in Texas so that's not going to work. I used to not be able to stand to go shopping for clothes. Hardly anything fits and then when it does, how do I mix and match it with other items in my closet to make it work and look stylish? Shopping was a disaster for me and I avoided it like the plague. Anyways, now I love looking at your new blog posts each day and getting ideas. I know what's in style and what's going to look good together all thanks to you. I can mix and match because of you (and the mix and match mama!) and I finally feel confident when I walk out of the house. So thank you thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart! Whether you realize it or not, you've been a life saver in the fashion world for me (and I'm sure plenty of other girls too)!
Leigh says
Hey Girl! I just wanted to tell you that I bought the Rubbish jacket with the gathered waist from Nordstrom about 3 weeks ago-in the faded black/gray color-and it is my favorite thing I've picked up for the fall! The temperatures are getting cooler here in the Midwest, so I've been taking advantage of throwing it on with a pair of skinny jeans and booties. So cute! I swear, the Juniors/BP section of Nordstrom is my secret spot for finding adorable clothes that don't break the bank.
Thanks so much for all of your wonderful suggestions! I look forward to your posts every day. 🙂
Megan says
I will happily share! So happy to have found your blog Sheaffer and loved your recap!
Sarah Ostrow says
So happy to stumble onto your blog! Your super wide calf boot family is beautiful! I've been looking for more reads by fellow thirty-something, fashionably-frugal moms 🙂
