Listen Up.
This is your captain speaking.
So, gather round…
I want to share my story in hopes that it will help you.
😉
Still, even though I LOVED them, I still remember being nervous to wear them the first time.
Seems totally ridiculous to me now!
Or jeans and white t-shirt.
Because they ARE a neutral.
A super sassy and fun neutral.
You know.
Blue and green stripes with a neon yellow necklace.
The leopard works BECAUSE THEY ACT LIKE A NEUTRAL.
Say it with me people.
THEY ACT AS A NEUTRAL.
distressed (so many of you could wear them to work)! I am a 27 in the distressed cuffed jeans and the the boot cut, but these were smaller, and I needed a 28. Others have had said the same thing about these running smaller. My goodness I love these jeans.

but WITH the leopard flats are kicked up a notch. Or 8.
wouldn’t have spent this much on a leopard flat 2 years ago, but I’m
willing to this year because I’ve proven to myself that I will get my $
worth out of them by wearing them CONSTANTLY.
want to consider that!
for me.
Shay bought these flats and received them in the mail last week. Which
OF COURSE warranted an immediate phone call. You guys. With the
exception of TOMS, Shay has never ever ever bought a pair of flats. Never. EVER. And
she bought these. She certainly didn’t buy the nude flats that I’ve been screaming about. But these flats are a different story. These flats are so awesome they actually made her put
down a pair of heels or wedges, take out her wallet, and buy them.
That’s impressive. And if we’re going to be honest, they are the 3rd pair….maybe even the 4th pair….of flats she purchased with the intent of wearing them on her upcoming NY vacation. The other ones she purchased were cheaper, but they just weren’t comfy enough!)
material of these shoes have texture. They are obviously not real
leopard hair, but they aren’t just a flat material either. I know I’m
not making any sense, but I don’t know how to describe them?!?
flats rub my feet and hurt- the ankles, around the front, on the sides
of the foot. With that, I am very picky about my shoes and usually end
up spending a ton of money to get flats that don’t hurt. I am amazed at
these flats- they were comfortable right out of the box, didn’t require
any break in time, and felt good on my feet all day. I will definitely
be getting more of these in lots of fun colors!
And here’s the comment Shay left this morning:
You know that I’ve been a leopard enthusiast for years and years.
Leopard is as neutral as black. But I have never, ever been a flats
enthusiast…until now. Those Sam Edelman’s are FABULOUS! If you love
flats, you must purchase these shoes! They are so comfy, have sole
support, look chic and cute at the same time…one little shoe has
changed my entire footwear opinion. People…get these flats!
Shay wearing flats (that aren’t TOMS), is a BIG deal! 🙂
Sam Edelman also just came out with a leopard flat HERE that is almost exactly
like the above shoe, but the toe is more squared off.
I think this square toe makes the flat a bit dressier.
Here are some other leopard flat options from Nordstrom:
Click HERE for a pointy toe option (just checked and only 2 sizes left!) Dang!
GREAT reviews and right at $50!
Click HERE for a pair of MK leopard moccasins that are already 50% off!
I tried these on during the anniversary and REALLY liked them.
Or if you would prefer a super casual pair of TOMS, don’t forget about the leopard
burlap ones HERE.
(Remember to read the reviews on these and order a 1/2 to a full size down.)
Leopard flat options from Zappos:
*UGG non-studded flats HERE
*Lucky brand HERE (the leopard pattern is good, and they are totally affordable)!
I really like the over-all look of these!
*Michael Kors HERE (I like the studded brass on the soles.)
And some options from Macy’s:
This pair HERE with the open side design that is new this year.
If you want to add some leopard to your wardrobe, but aren’t quite ready to commit to leopard flats, then I highly suggest adding a leopard belt and/or a leopard scarf to your closet!

A great option from Macy’s HERE with some coral splashed in! So pretty! And under $20!
Here are some examples of outfits with my leopard scarves (because I have 2).
In the following pictures I’ve paired leopard with neutral, blue, red, and green!
And fyi…..I am also LOVING this leopard ankle boot.

I got my first pair of leopard flats last year and love them! I haven't really worn them all summer- need to break them out again! Thanks!

Seriously your blog is AMAZING! I have two questions… What size are you in the Vigoss Distress Crop Jeans (dark junior)? And how similar is the new Must Have top from the last one? Is it made of the same material? Thanks 🙂

Great post today! I have totally got the leopard flats, scarf & belt covered. Sometimes I think I might wear leopard pieces too much. I have several pairs of leopard flats & heels that I just love and wear religiously!!! Never thought of pairing it with a striped shirt, but I'm in LOVE now!!! Love how you paired the striped shirt with the flats. Now I totally have to have those jeans…like right now!!!! Why did it take me this long???? So they don't have my size in the exact pair you are wearing; so which pair would you suggest that is almost identical to the pair you have on with the striped shirt and flats?????? I would probably need a 29. I gotta have them!!!
🙂

I bought leopard flats from Payless about 6 years ago and am STILL wearing them. To say I've worn them out is a complete understatement. I wear them about 3-4 times a week in the Fall. I have searched high and low for a pair I love just ask much because they NEED to be replaced, but I just haven't ever found any I love as much. The Edelman's are expensive so I'm debating it in my mind. Thanks for getting the word out in Leopard! Every girl needs a pair of leopard flats in her life :)!

Shaeffer – you should know that I have been stalking the Nordstrom site for those distressed jeans for almost two weeks and this morning I was so excited to get my credit card out and FINALLY buy a pair in my size!! I can't wait to wear them in hopes that I can look as cute as you and your pinterest inspired outfits!!

I love my leopard flats! I buy about one pair a year because I wear them until they die a slow painful death. Loving those Sam Edleman's. I guess I need to order a new pair this year 🙂 I'm still wearing my pair from last year! Wearing them today actually. I bought my first leopard item, a purse, when I was in college. I worked at Victoria's Secret and all the girls had the same leopard tote so of course, I had to have one too. I still have it and its been years. I don't want to say how many but let's just say I was 20 when I bought it and I've turned 29 about 6 times since then!

I've left a similar comment before about my love for the Sam Edelman leopard flat on your blog & I must do it again! I bought mine last year and I love them more than my Tory Burch flats. That's saying a lot! They're super padded on the bottom and fit like little house shoes. In fact, I have a whole post planned about them myself this fall! LOVE!
Sarah E @ theteacherswife.com says
I am 100% convinced about the leopard print. Just this weekend, I tried on a cute pair at Old Navy and fell in love. Hadn't thought about the scarf idea, but I love it too!

First of all, I LOVE how you open this post with a story about flats….too much, Sheaffer, too much….you seriously crack me up with the way you talk about fasion!!
Second, I do NOT own anything leopard and after reading this and seeing all the pictures I think I may have to get on the leopard flat train….some of those outfits are SO crazy cute with those shoes….I die! Although I think I may start with a pair of camo flats first as I'm thinking the camo suits me a little better than the leopard…we shall see! In all reality I will pry end up with both! 🙂
Kim Kauffman says
Those Sam Edelman flats are the ones I've been wanting! I saw them in the store the other day and they are so stinking cute and I love the texture of them. I wore my cheap Target ones ALL the time so I know I'd get a ton of use out of them. But I'm going to have a wait awhile (sad face) because I've been buying everything you post on here! ha!! We are buying a new house so I think my husband might have my hide if I buy one more thing!! Good thing Christmas is coming up. I have a list a mile long this year 🙂

I bought my first pair of leopard anything last Fall, a super inexpensive pair from Target! I wore them all Fall and Winter long with EVERYTHING and that's why I can totally vouch for the fact that they are a neutral! I'm definitely buying the Sam Edelmen pair this year since I know I'll get great wear from them! Thanks for sharing them with us!!
Darcy says
Couldn't agree more that leopard is a neutral! I don't think its possible to have too many leopard items. I love my leopard flats with stripes, polka dots, chevron.. you name it. I added a leopard belt to my collection this spring and was just as obsessed! Now I want a pair of leopard loafers. Leopard loafers and leopard ballet flats?! Yep, there's no such thing as too much 😉

Love this post!! I put on a dark gray and coral striped shirt the other day with my leopard flip flops and I changed because I just wasn't sure it went together. Now I know it does!! 🙂 I ended up ordering all 6 things in my cart last week so I think I better wait on the cute flats a few weeks. I'm loving the Lucky brand ones.
Kati Nickl says
I totally agree with you – every girl needs something leopard in their closet – it totally changes the look of a boring, neutral outfit. 🙂
I have the leopard heel booties from Nordstrom and I am absolutely in love! They are SO comfortable and go with everything! I can't wait until Fall so I can wear them more often.

Seriously Sheaffer, this post could not have come at a better time! I have been meaning to email to ask about some leopard flats! I have been dying to find a pair that I really like and have been eyeing those Sam Edelman's. I may have to pull the trigger. Hubby is going to kill me once again. Eh, all in the name of fashion right?! Thank you so much for sharing some great options today.
PS. I'm wearing my Vigoss jeans at work today (non-distressed version) and yes, they are totally wearable for work. 🙂

One of my upgrades this fall is to get a real pair of leopard flats. By real I mean not the worn out pair from Target that I've worn for three years. 🙂 I want those Sam Edelman's.

You have such a cute blog! Thanks for sharing all your tips! Creative indeed! One suggestion, which I hope you will take to heart. I am a fellow Texan (McKinney, actually as well), and it pains me to read how you try so, so hard to please Shay. It just saddens me that you have to mention her in just about every post. You are your own person, and you are good at what you do. Honestly, you are coming across as so insecure. I totally get you are besties, but it is just too much of you seeking Shay's approval. She is a great girl, too, don't get me wrong, but you are alienating people. Be your own person, and it your blog will be that much better. You don't need to publish this, but I want you to think about what I said. I think you know it to be true.
A fellow shopper!

Dear Anonymous,
I would have responded directly to you via e-mail, but since you commented as "anonymous", I am forced to respond here. I am unsure of why it "pains" and "saddens" you when I talk about Shay. Shay is my real life friend, and so I talk about her. Simple as that.
As a blogger, I like to talk about other bloggers (and I appreciate it when they do the same for me). I link to other bloggers when they have posts that I think need to be seen by others too. I just link to Shay more frequently because she is part of my everyday life. If all of my best friends were bloggers, I would talk about them too. I like to talk about and celebrate my friends.
If me talking about Shay alienates you, then I guess I'm okay with that. I will continue to talk about her, link to her blog, and support her.

I was *just* in Nordstrom Rack today and talked a lady into getting leopard heels. She didn't think she could pull them off, then I told her leopard was the new neutral. She threw them in her basket immediately! I scored two great deals on Vince Camuto leopard flats (they feel like you're walking on clouds – so comfy) and TOMS Snow Leopard Burlap Wedges.
I just love the great finds at Nordstrom Rack! I feel like I need a get-away vehicle sometimes the deals are so good!

I adore Sam Edelman and I am all about flats as a general Rule, so these are straight up amazing. I always think it's worth it to pay a bit more for shoes, and unless they're from H&M I don't pay less than $30. H&M have some amazing shoes, but other than that I usually can't find comfortable and adorable shoes for cheap.

First off! Touche on your very poised and perfect response to the anonymous poster. I couldn't have said it better myself!
Now on to something bit more feisty!! Leopard… Girl you totally hit the mark… I was scared of it as well at first. Then I bought some Jessica Simpson wedges in leopard. I have branched out… I now have a Leopard watch and a fabulous leopard scarf. Just recently I started treating Leopard as a neutral and not something scary and patterned. It totally opened Pandora's box to a plethora of ideas for mixing it with my wardrobe! I love it!
Keep up the sassy posts Sheaffer!
