Don’t blame ya for asking one bit. The pants are one of my favorite pairs in my closet.
Here they are (from Friday) with my grey v-neck*, the must have denim jacket,
and my new wedge boots!
I really like this look and know it is one that I’ll be repeating when I can actually wear it out of the house without the worry of a heat stroke.
*If you’ve been reading the blog for awhile, you know about the J. Crew Factory v-neck t-shirt. It’s my favorite t-shirt of all times. I love the shape, feel, and weight of it.
I personally have the shirt in grey, white, Kelly green, royal blue, black and white stripes, and pink and white stripes. I think the sheer # that I own should prove to you that I love it. 😉
The shirt comes in 12 colors, and it is on sale right now for $15.50 (reg. price $26.50)!
If you are going to order, don’t get just one.
It’s obviously great for the spring and summer on it’s own, but it’s also great for fall and winter under denim jackets and cardigans. I wear them all year long!
I bought the mustard skinny jeans at Nordstrom at the very beginning of September last year (they were in the junior’s section and I think they were $48), but they haven’t been in stock since.
I remember the exact table I bought them off of, and that table still has colored shorts on it. Fingers crossed it will have colored jeans on it very soon.
I LOVE these jeans, so I promise I will be on the look out for a pair of
great mustard skinnies for all of you ladies this year!
They were definitely one of my favorite staples in my wardrobe last year!
Click HERE for the original post with the mustard pants paired with a black and white top and orange statement necklace from September 2012. I really like the look, and I don’t think I’ve worn it since. It’s high time for me to wear it again!
It’s fun to look back and see what some of my first posts looked like.
At the end of the post I talk about going to a scarf exchange with my girlfriends the next day…..it was at that exchange that my friend Andrea (designer of my blog and all of my cute graphics) announced to all of us that she was pregnant with her 3rd! And now Miss Griffin is here and OH SO CUTE! My goodness time flies.)
************************************************************************
Okay.
last week and a half or so.
Andrea.
Make me a sash.
😉
And when the people ask, I answer.
(I figure for every e-mail I receive, there are probably at least 5 other people with the same question.)
🙂
1) List the things I purchased myself.
2) List some of my other favorite things I tried on.
WHAT DID I PURCHASE MYSELF?
I’m obsessed.
The feedback I’m getting over and over is that it is “so flattering” and that you “can’t wait to wear it with skinny jeans and tall boots”.
I hear ya.
I know that most sizes are sold out again, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they will re-stock again in the next couple of days before the sale is over.
I have it in burgundy color and in black.
Three readers (Hi Stacey, Kim, and Lisa!) all sent me a picture of themselves in the white one, and now I want the white one too.
I was afraid the white one was going to look cheap, but I think it looks great!
I’m now considering ordering a 3rd. And let me tell ya, having 3 ain’t no thang. Lisa bought 5!
Way to show the must have shirt who is boss Lisa! 🙂
REMEMBER TO ORDER 1 SIZE DOWN.
I also purchased several other things from the sale that I’ve named My Fall Style Staples!
1)
These aren’t technically in the anniversary sale, but the ARE on sale.
So, listen up!!!!
I JUST DECIDED TO INCLUDE THESE IN THE CONTEST!
I know from the e-mails that many of you have purchased them over the past week while you were making your Anniversary Sale purchases!
Send in a picture of yourself in these jeans for a chance to win a $100 Nordstrom card!!!!
At least for now.
These babies are flying off the shelves.
They are junior’s, so the size chart says the 27s are a 3…..but I felt like the 27s were very true to a 4.
Click HERE for the awesome jeans!
Soooooooo many of you that have already bought the jeans (including some of my friends) have e-mailed me about how you can’t believe how these super inexpensive jeans are so amazing!
I TOTALLY agree.
If you have these jeans, please take a second to sound off in the comments so other readers who are on the fence will get to see that other people love them besides just me!
These might be my favorite pair of jeans EVER. No lie. And they are $38!!!
I know this sounds ridiculous, but I feel really cool wearing them. 🙂
(The only reason I didn’t name these jeans a MUST HAVE is because I know many of you out there are crazy particular about your jeans, so I was scared to.)
However, they are a MUST HAVE for ME and a Fall Style Staple for sure.
In fact, I love them so much that I think I might order a 2nd pair of the same size. The price would totally allow me to do that without feeling guilty.
Click HERE for my original post about these jeans so you can see several different looks with them.
2)
They are crazy flattering, and they have the perfect amount of stretch in them.
I’ve already worn them with my nude flats (and they looked great),
and I can’t wait to wear them with my tall boots!
The Miz Mooz brown wedge boots.
For some reason, these boots seem to be kind of polarizing.
People either LOVE them, or they don’t.
I happen to LOVE and ADORE them.
They are the perfect color, the perfect heel height,
and have just the right amount of detail for my liking.
And just in case I haven’t made this perfectly clear before, I LOVE A WEDGE BOOT.
Here’s a picture that a reader (Hi Rebecca!) sent me that I think shows the boots really well.
I am also 99% sure that I’m going to move forward with my anniversary sale purchase of a pair of black boots.
I started getting nervous about not getting a pair at anniversary sale prices, and then caving in September or October and having to spend like $100 more!
So, stated simply, if I buy them now I’m actually saving money.
Just tell your hubby to call me if he doesn’t understand my logic.
🙂
order the MK black boots (HERE).
you remember when I first talked about them in my post last week, these
boots totally surprised me. I only tried them on because I’d received
lots of e-mails about them.
of you that don’t have a Nordstrom near you (sorry about that by the
way) were wondering if they were pretty in person. You weren’t so sure
about the elastic back when looking at them online.
My sales guy said they were probably the most popular boot in store.
I know lots of you have been asking about finding a boot for a larger
calf, and these might fit the bill for you. I have a friend with 15″
calves that swears she can never find a boot that fits her well. I
suggested these, she tried them on, and she loved them. However, she
said that if you are 5’2″ or under that these might be to tall for you.)
My calf is 13″, and they were perfect on me too! I guess the stretchy back really does the trick.
that being said, I haven’t ordered them yet.
“Why not?” you ask.
Well.
Just when I was about to click “order”, I thought I would take one more look around.
It was then that I saw that the Ecco boots (HERE) had much better reviews than the MK’s.
I knew I was going to the mall with Shay on Thursday,
so I thought I would hold off and try them both on side by side.
Then…over the weekend…
I received 3 different e-mails from readers talking about the Ecco boots and how they
got them and loved them.
The below picture is the brown Ecco boot I tried on the first day I shopped the sale.
SO CUTE, right? I really do like the fit, style, and the clean lines of this boot.
Plus, the subtle buckle detail is nice!
Click HERE for the Ecco boots.
So, needless to say, I’m now totally conflicted.
I
really can’t imagine I’m going to like the black Ecco’s better than the MK’s (I know the MK reviews aren’t great, but I know that I personally LOVE them which is obviously what matters to me),
but since they aren’t just $20, I’m going to make very sure which ones I
want before I pull the trigger.
I will make my decision Tuesday, and I will tell you which boot I decided on on Wednesday.
I know you’ll be waiting on the edge of your seat.
5)
I also saw this bracelet (on the right) the other day and couldn’t pass it up.
Sparkly! Sparkly! Sparkly!
It is so pretty in person!
Click HERE for the bracelet! It is under $25!
I didn’t approach the anniversary sale knowing I was going to make so many purchases this year, but I just couldn’t pass the deals up.
I feel like I got things that are going to be great staples in my closet for years to come, so I didn’t mind spending the money on them.
GO ME!
*********************************************************************************
Even though I also loved the items you are about to see, a girl has got to draw the line somewhere….so these next favorite picks did not come home with me.
Do you guys love it as much as I do?
It comes in petites and different colors (red and purple).
(They only had petites left in the store, so I am wearing a medium petite in this picture.)
I think the regular small would have been perfect on me.
The one in the picture is a little short.
(They didn’t have my size in the store, so the one in the pic below is too small….but I still wanted you to see what it looked like on.)
One of the reviewers commented that they looked to “old lady” for her taste and I laughed so hard!
Old Lady? Really?
I think these boots are hot!
Click HERE for the v-neck and HERE for the crew neck CASHMERE sweater.
Both are awesome.
Both come in a variety of colors.
Both come in regular AND petite!
Both fit true to size; I am wearing a small in both of the below pictures.
If I wasn’t going to get a 2nd pair of boots, I would definitely be buying this purse.
Dear Mr. Kors,
I love this purse.
If you would like to send one to me, I wouldn’t be mad at you.
I would graciously accept your gift.
All my love,
Sheaffer

Oh my goodness! My head is spinning! Let's be real…you looked fabulous in everything and if money were no object, you should have purchased it all. I am super impressed with your restraint (prayers must have been said) because honestly, you looked fabulous in everything. I am going right now to check out the cashmere sweater, watch and red coat. If Sheaffer tells me to, I do it!

I am suddenly so excited for fall fashion! While I do love the summer, nothing beats boots and jeans 🙂 I love that top in white. So disappointed I haven't gotten one yet!
Megan Andrews says
My word, Miss Sheaffer, that is one comprehensive post! You'll be happy to know that I am very close to coughing up the postage to Australia again (last time was for the denim jacket) for a couple of those shirts. The only thing I need to decide is whether to throw in a pair of wedges as well…
Kellyann Rohr says
Sheaffer I adore you! I am so glad you shared what you actually purchased because I thought everything looked so great on you but I loved hearing your rationale for what actually came home with you. Thanks for that, I can totally relate to you and this is why I am one of your peeps! So many other bloggers have shared their wishlists and they are so expensive! Short of robbing a bank I cannot keep up. And let's face it, if I rob a bank I'll get caught and the worst part? Pretty sure my Nordie's shopping would come to a halt at that point and I would not be allowed to wear all of those great clothes in prison!

I am debating about the MK purse. Is the color close to a cognac color? I ask because my boots are cognac and I don't want to clash. Also, I have the Vigoss jeans and love them. They look great with everything and I can't wait to pair them with boots this fall.

I love the MK tortoise watch and your must have shirt! I'm going to check out the shirt today. I'm hoping the sizes have been restocked!

Got the Ecco boots at my house Thursday, can't wait to wear them this fall. My husband said they were nice and my two year old was just excited to get the big cardboard box they were shipped in! I think I'll be looking for a tortoise shell colored watch, too!
Lisa Rogers says
I saw the ECCO boots Saturday, and although I admired them so much that I actually held one like an infant, my shopping bag-chaffed arm convinced me not to try them on. Rethinking that now.
Alison @ Get Your Pretty On says
Thank you (and your AWESOME readers) SO much for the votes! Thanks to ya'll that I'm holding onto that first place this morning! I can't even begin to tell you how much I appreciate it!
Also, thanks to you, I'm watch shopping today at the Nordstrom anniversary sale. 🙂 I must have a tortoise MK watch. Just not sure which one yet!

I would like some more details on the J.Crew T-shirts. I am very self-conscious about T-shirts because I have about 12 pounds to loose and it seems most of the 12 pounds is in my back! I have those bra lumps and love handles. a lot of T-shirts are either too thin or too clingy or if not clingy then they are too boxy that it looks like grandma. What say you about the J-Crew T's?
Sheaffer says
Hi Dana! Your settings are set to "no reply", so I hope you check back here for your answer! I would definitely say it's a fitted t-shirt across the back. It's not too clingy, but it is definitely fitted.
Hope this helps!!!!
xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂
Dana says
Thank you Sheaffer!
Ashlee says
Dana- Go get your bra size checked out! If your bra is causing lumps a different size would probably work wonders! Take the kind of shirt your worried about and try it on over the bras to see what the new bras look like in the shirt!

Sheaffer, Every time I read your blog I want more of the stuff. I want the Pleione blouse but they're out of xs and knowing they're running big I think the small will be too big, but I want to try it just because I need it to fit and now I want the white and black top you're wearing. It looks adorable! I also found a gorgeous pair of black heels (Vince ones) that I want to pull the trigger on. I need to start showing some willpower. Really.

Love this, question I've been meaning to ask someone, anyone. I've been looking for a white t-shirt, but find that they ALL are a little see through. Does everyone on earth wear a cami underneath? Or are these j-crew factory t-shirts thick enough that I don't have to add an extra layer? Thanks!
aprilparrish says
Loved all your pics from the Nordstrom anniversary sale. I so want that MK tortoise watch!!! Great price too!!!
My personal choice for your boot would be the Ecco boot. I just like them!!!!
Have a great day!!!
Kim says
Hi Sheaffer,
My "must have shirts" just came in the mail. I got black and white and LOVE them. I'm actually looking forward to the change in weather so I can wear them with my boots 🙂
? For you: what size are your jcrew vnecks?
Anonymous says
Love, love, love your blog. Thank you for all the extra info you post. I have never shopped at Nordstrom's before. I have gone nuts the last 2 weeks! I love all I have ordered (especially the wedge boots!).
Question: I want to order the Mia Toothpick jeans. Did you order your usual size or go up a size?
Sheaffer says
I ordered my usual size! Glad you are loving everything!!!
xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂

I'm pretty sure I need to run back to Nordstrom to try on the Paige skinny jeans that are part of the anniversary sale. I'm going to need them in the fall anyway so why not save $60??! They'd be perfect with my must have shirts! My husband is going to kill me. Also – I really love that black and white shirt you have on. But I guess I need to draw the line somewhere too. Darn!!
Patrice says
So much to take in! Thanks for doing the leg work. The T-shirt…is the white thick enough to not see a white or nude bra? I can't find a good white tee!
Sheaffer says
Hi Patrice! Your settings are set to "no reply", so I hope you check back here for your answer. It's not super thick at all, but I am able to wear just a good nude bra under it. But again, I wouldn't call it thick. Hope this helps!
xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂

Sheaffer, you are a woman among women! I don't have a Nordstrom's near me, but on vacation to Seattle, I stopped by one to check out the Anniversary goods. I was totally overwhelmed and am in awe of your shopping prowess ;). I ended up with the Plieone shirts, some Frye boots (yay!!) and a couple of other things. Fun, fun!

Hi Sheaffer, you know you have influenced the "other people who have viewed this item have also viewed…" feature on the Nordstrom page?? When I click one of your items I see the others listed as "people have also viewed". Cracked me up. Anyway, hoping to send you some pics soon. I have bought a ton from the sale, probably 75% influenced by you. Love your blog. -Margaret

Hi Sheaffer ~ I have you to blame for my spending WAY too much $$$ at Nordstrom the last couple of weeks. Yikes! But, so far you have not steered me wrong, so I will continue to check out your suggestions. Keep it up.
That being said, prior to the Anniversary sale I went on your recommendation and purchased the Natori Full fit Convertible Molded underwire bra. You were right! It is incredibly comfortable and I would like to purchase more. However I see that #1 – they are not currently on the sale, and #2 – they only have one color left in my size. So, I was wondering if you have tried any of the other bras by Natori? They have one called "feathers" on sale, and it has great reviews, so I am considering ordering one to try. Are there any you would recommend? I don't have a store nearby to go try things on at, so would have to order and return if I don't like it. Thanks for any help you can give me!

First of all, I want to say I love your blog! You are so full of enthusiasm, it is impossible not to get excited while reading. Secondly, you really have a great sense of style. I really enjoy your posts where you take an outfit and translate it into your own version! I would like to see more of those, especially with some summer combinations. Fall is still a ways off, and I am looking for some inspiration for my hot weather attire! Thanks!
Tricia says
I ordered another pair of the Vigoss jeans! I sized up one size the last time I ordered (a couple of weeks ago) so they would be more of a boyfriend fit. Since you let us know they were restocked, I went back in and was able to order my regular size for more of a skinny fit. I can't wait for the must have jeans! I love them as a boyfriend and am excited to get the skinnier version 🙂 Have a great day and keep up the good work!

Hi Sheaffer! I went to Nordstrom today thinking of you! I tried on both the MK and Ecco boots, per your suggestion. Still too wide in the ankle for me, but both were pretty boots! Next I had to try on the must-have shirt. My Nordstrom (Indianapolis) has a TON of them in stock. So cute and comfy! I also wanted to mention that the Zella booty pants are truly amazing. I had never heard of that brand before the sale, but I am a convert now! Keep up the great work! -Cathy

Hi Sheaffer,
I just got the dark blue skinnies in the mail–perfect and super flattering, just as you said. I love what you are doing with your blog–you really are such a help and inspiration! I love that you are always smiling in your selfies (even if we do sometimes get the 'crazy eyes')! So sorry it's too late to submit a photo of my new skinnies with the must-have wedge boot, which I have in black. Love 'em both.
Thank you!!
