ATHLEISURE

I wanted to kick things off today with a fun athleisure outfit.

I fell in love with the colors, and I thought they would be fun styled together.

This is the type of outfit that I love to run around town in.

The performance mesh top is of course perfect for the gym. But in my world, it’s also perfect for HomeGoods and the grocery store. 🙂  It’s lightweight and has a breathable mesh back and side panels that will help keep me cool when I’m walking the pups around the neighborhood. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

The rain jacket initially caught my eye online because of the color. And it’s even better in person. It’s officially called “silver blue”, and I think it’s just a really great icy grey blue. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium. However, after reading other reviews I’m wondering if I should try a large. I wouldn’t mind it being more roomy, and others sized up for layering purposes, which is smart.

It has lots of awesome features including both a snap and zipper closure as well as a high neck to protect you from the elements. You can cinch it in at the waist with internal cording, and the length is great too.

The wrists also have the ability to be snapped tightly closed. Again, great protection from wind and rain.

The leggings are a crowd favorite because they are the Live In High Waist pocket leggings. I tell you, once I tried high waisted leggings, I refuse to wear anything but a high waist and wide waistband.

At 5’4″, they are a little bit long on me. You can see at the ankles how I had to turn them up a bit and tuck them in, but I like to leave the original hem exposed. I wish they had these in the ankle length option, but they don’t. For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

There’s great compression across the belly and the wide and high waistband leaves you feeling very tucked in.

The deep side pockets will hold your phone securely.

They are a really great pair of leggings. The color is so striking.

I’ve had these sneakers since early this year, and I love them.

They are a lightweight, yet durable running shoe (so I hear). I just know that they are super cute and comfy. True to size for me.

MUST HAVE LEGGINGS

Next up, we’re talking about my MUST HAVE leggings. Seriously. You MUST get them. I’m not just telling you to, I’m pretty much begging you to. I’m THRILLED that they are still in stock, but I’m expecting them to fly off the shelves now that everybody can shop.

I wear some combination of this tee and leggings combo (I have several colors in each) ALL THE TIME during the fall and spring. This is how I wear it when running around town doing errands. I typically throw a denim jacket on top, and I’ve styled it with fashion sneakers instead of athletic sneakers.

I’m totally bummed that this tee and this denim jacket are currently out of stock because I LOVE both of them. I have the tee in several colors from last year, and I bought 3 more this year. That’s how much I love and wear this tee. The jacket is a great relaxed fit that’s perfect for throwing on with athleisure. I also really like the distressing.

I’m wearing a medium in both.

My tip for you here is to be diligent about checking for restocks. There will be returns that pop up here and there, so you definitely have a chance to grab them!

Huggie earrings are my favorite kind of earring because they are so comfortable and so easy to wear. I’ve been known to go days and days without ever changing my huggies. I even talk on the phone, shower, and sleep in them. These turquoise huggie earrings are fabulous.

Okay, LET’S TALK ABOUT THE LEGGINGS.

If you’re a regular reader, you know I can’t shut up about these babies.

I can’t help it. I ADORE mine, and I think that everybody needs to give them a try.

They are high waisted like the Zella high waisted live in leggings we all know and love. But get this, the waistband is a soft ribbed material. They don’t have as much compression as the original leggings, which actually makes them even more comfortable! And I’ll take comfort over compression every day of the week.

In addition to the cute pockets and the awesome ribbed waistband, there are also cute little bands at the bottom. I keep getting questions on if they are more like leggings or more like joggers, so here’s my official answer: They fit like leggings, but they are more in the style of a jogger (with the big pockets and banded cuffs).  They’re awesome.

Also. THEY ARE SO SOFT. Like reallllllllllly REALLY soft.

And I’m telling you, the fit is adorable.

These are the “black”, but I think they are more of a really dark charcoal grey. For size reference, I’m wearing a small. I’ve heard that some people are sizing down in these, but I like the fit of my regular size.

These DV sneakers are fabulous, and I’m thrilled to have them in my closet. I’ve purchased a couple of DV sneakers over the last several years, but the others have had more of a design on them (ex. camo, glitter), so I’m happy to have these plain white sneaks (with just the perforations). Very comfy. I sized down a 1/2, but others are saying true to size.

I will wear these with regular denim, black jeans, grey jeans, skirts, and dresses.

And I’ll of course wear them with these leggings too.

I can promise you I will wear the heck out of them.

THE FAMOUS SPANX FAUX LEATHER LEGGINGS

We’re going to get to some jeans and a pair of nice black pants in a minute, but before we do, I have one more pair of leggings for you. But these leggings are extra special. These are the crowd favorite faux leather leggings from SPANX, and they basically have a cult following.

These leggings are worth every dang penny at full price, but it’s a total steal if you can grab them on sale. Regularly $98, right now they are ONLY $64.90. WOWZA!

I’m about to giving you my 5 star rating, but before we get to all my thoughts, know this…

MAKE SURE YOU SIZE UP 1.

I wear a small in all Zella leggings, but I wear a medium petite in these. I couldn’t even shimmy the smalls over my hips. (I’m 5’4″ and the regular leggings were wayyyyy too long on me. Like several inches too long.) So for official size reference, I wear a medium petite.

I’m telling you, if you want to feel like a million bucks, treat yourself to these leggings.

They are great quality, they wash well, they don’t stretch out, and perhaps most importantly – you will feel amazing in them! Again, I size up to a medium in these (I wear a small in all other leggings), and they fit perfectly.

They suck you in and totally slim you down, while still allowing you to breathe. It’s a thing of wonder.

This cozy crewneck sweater comes in tons of colors, and it’s a great basic to have! I’m wearing a small here, and I like the fit of the small if I’m wearing it with jeans, but I really need to be wearing a medium with leggings. So basically, if wearing with jeans, size down. If you are planning to wear with leggings, you will want to size up for additional length.

It’s lightweight with a bit of stretch in it. It’s very soft and comfy! It can easily be dressed up or down (as you’ll see later in the post).

I feel like this outfit is perfect for a girl’s night out or date night!

I switched out my small crossbody for a bigger bag, and I’ve switched out my booties for sneakers.

Now instead of date night, this is a great travel outfit! Comfy, but still totally chic.

SWEATER AND JEANS

This sweater wasn’t in store, so I ordered it online, and it arrived yesterday.

AND I LOVE IT.

First of all, the color is gorgeous! It’s a stunning and vibrant pink.

It’s 100% cotton with a ribbed crew neck, ribbed hem, and ribbed 3/4 sleeves. It’s got a waffle weave texture, and splits on the sides. It’s on the expensive side, but it’s well worth it. I know I will wear the heck out of it. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium. It’s very roomy, but I like it that way. (Please ignore the lipstick on my teeth. Oops.)

The Kendra Scott link hoop earrings are a perfect hoop. They are a medium size, super lightweight, and the chain link look modernizes them a bit.

These jeans are from my most loved denim brand, Wit and Wisdom! If you aren’t familiar with the brand, click HERE to see all of the jeans they have in the sale. As a rule, most people size down in this brand, especially if often between sizes.

These are the Ab-Solution ankle skinny jeans, and you guessed it, they have the Ab-Solution technology that we have all come to love. They mold and hold you in all the right places, and they are soooooo stretchy and comfy. Listen, Wit and Wisdom jeans have ruined alllllllll other jeans from me. If I put a pair of jeans on now with no stretch, they immediately get taken off. I don’t have time for jeans with no stretch in them. Life is too short.

These have an elastic waistband and a slimming panel in the front to give a really smooth look. That’s the magic of Ab-Solution technology. I’m telling you, if you haven’t tried Wit and Wisdom, GIVE THEM A CHANCE. They have so many styles to choose from.

For size reference, I got these in a petite. I’m 5’4″, and I wanted a little bit of ankle to show, so I needed the petites in this particular pair. As I often do, if I grab a petite, I size up…so I’m wearing the 6P. (Important to note, I don’t always need a petite in Wit and Wisdom jeans, I just happened to in this particular pair.)

I got my first pair of grey jeans several years ago not knowing how often I would wear them.

The answer?

ALL THE TIME.

I really enjoyed mixing up my outfits with grey jeans every now and then. The grey looks great with hot pink, blush, white, black, navy, camel, deep purple, burgundy, and emerald green (just to give you a few options). Ha!

These sneakers are from a brand that I wasn’t familiar with, but I think they are so fun! Have y’all heard of Hoff before? The brand has a total retro vibe, and I dig it.

These sneaks are cushioned with memory foam, and the colors are unexpected. They also have the Atlanta skyline on the soles, which is just a fun and unique design element. True to size for me. (Sidenote: I’m not sure if I’m keeping these or not. Even though I love them, I have a pair of New Balance with a similar look, so I’m just not sure I need these too.)

THE BEST BLACK PANTS EVER

They are THE BEST BLACK PANTS EVER.

PLEAAAAAAAAAAAASE let me tell you to.

Seriously, they are a MUST HAVE.

You should replace all of your black slacks you own with these. You will never want to wear any other black pants again for the rest of your life.

Just like the jeans from Wit and Wisdom, they are created with technology that is designed to “mold, shape, and hold”. And I don’t know about you, but I long to be molded, shaped, and held by my pants. 😉 The pants are super soft with a lot of stretch and they are incredibly comfy. I’m telling you, there’s nothing like them. The front pockets are functional, and they have a faux zipper, but they do have 2 hook and eye closures with 1 button.

GET.

I’m wearing my regular size 4 (not petite). However, my tummy is my problem area. If you don’t have a problematic tummy area, you will want to size down.

Words do not do these pants justice.

You have to try them for yourself to understand their magical powers.

I am loving this updated version of a classic slingback pump. They are a very manageable 3 1/4 inch heel, and as you can see, the heel is a little sculptural and a little chunky. My favorite part of the shoes is the comfy slingback. They come in a gorgeous nude too. True to size.

Oh wait! With all of the fuss about the pants, I almost didn’t talk about the blouse. And it totally deserves a mention because it’s a really great blouse!

If you work in an office environment, you need this blouse. It’s totally modest, but it has great feminine detailing with tiny pleated ruffles on the v neckline and a gathered and ruffled hem on the sleeves as well. I’m wearing the deep mulberry, but it also comes in a very pretty lapis blue. It has tiny little gathers on the shoulder and a super subtle puff sleeve. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

The lighting is messing with the colors a bit, but I thought this shot gave you a good look at the pattern of the shirt and the waistband of the pants.

These chunky chain mules are definitely a favorite of mine from the sale. The chunky chain is FAB. I grabbed the plaid and the cognac, but I’ve decided not to keep the cognac. I found the cognac to be pretty dark every time I tried to style them with an outfit, so I would recommend the taupe suede or the white leather over the cognac. I love that there are so many color options, but this plaid spoke to me. It said “BUY ME, WOMAN.”

I did size up a 1/2 in these.

Obviously a basic outfit with the black on black, but the plaid mules offer some sass factor. And I’m always here for a little bit of sass.
