Christmas Shopping with eBay

I’m excited to be partnering up with eBay again today and sharing some WONDERFUL IDEAS FOR CHRISTMAS GIFTS for you and your loved ones! Throughout this year I’ve worked with eBay on several occasions, so I think you know by now that it’s a treasure trove of all sorts of amazing finds.  And in case you need a reminder:  81% of the items offered on eBay  are new and almost all of the items have the “But It Now” capability.  And 69% of items ship for free!

But although eBay has thousands of NEW WITH TAG items, my favorite way to use eBay is as a source for vintage finds.  My decorating style is very traditional, and I love mixing old and new.  When I have something I’m looking for, I often turn to eBay!  Casually strolling antique malls and flea markets is one of my favorite things to do, and I still love to make time to do this on occasion, but I of course don’t have time to do that on a regular basis.  So, eBay to the rescue!

I’ve been using eBay for years to snag some amazing vintage items for my home.  Today I’m going to share my newest find, and I’m also going to highlight some of the items I’ve found in the past.

What was my latest find?  A tole tray!

If you’ve been reading the blog for awhile, I’ve shared my love of tole trays several times before.   Tole trays are metal trays of all shapes and sizes that are hand painted with various designs, and I have quite the collection scattered all over my home.  I’ve got one over the fireplace, one on our coffee table, one over the stove, one in our bead board nook in the hallway, one on our buffet in the dining room, and 2 above our guest bedroom bed (click HERE to see). They are really the only thing I collect, and I always have my eyes peeled for a new one that I love.

Since we moved into our current home, we’ve had a chalkboard in our breakfast nook, but it’s always needed one (or 2) trays over it!  I wanted it to be red, and I didn’t want it to be floral (most tole trays are), so it’s taken me some time to find what I wanted.

BUT I FINALLY FOUND IT! It was the perfect color, the perfect size, and had the perfect patina.  #thankyoueBay

I got it just last week, I let out a happy little squeal when I opened it, and I immediately hung it up right over the chalkboard.

I was pretty pleased with my eBay find!  Can you tell?  Ha!

Whenever I would be watching t.v. or had a spare second, I would try to remember to search eBay.  I would type in “metal tole tray”, “red tole tray”, “rectangular tole tray”, and various descriptions….and when this one popped up, I knew it had to be mine.  (I just realized the little red stool I’m standing on in all of these pictures didn’t make the shots.  I’m not freakishly tall as it appears I am.  Purely fyi. Ha!)

The wall the chalkboard is on is huge, and I really love the color and warmth that this one little tray adds to the space.

This picture actually highlights several of my other eBay finds throughout the years, including the green kitchen scale, the black tole tray above the stove, the cute little pumpkin plate on the chalkboard shelf, and the tole crumb catcher on the chalkboard shelf.  See?  I told you eBay is a treasure trove!

I had the grand idea to get the pups over to pose for a picture too.  Because Goldens make everything cuter.

I think it’s more than obvious that I really love to use eBay for vintage finds, but as mentioned before, the majority of their items are NEW WITH TAG!

I consulted with Chris when picking the ideas for the guys in your life. His Yeti items are definitely favorites (he owns both items highlighted), and he got so excited when he saw the huge selection of DeWalt tools available on eBay.  He’s so handy around the house and in the garage, and DeWalt are the only tools he buys.   He has both DeWalt items featured as well and swears by them.

Another great gift for your hubby might be an air fryer! We LOVE OURS!  And this is one of those gifts that could really be a gift for you as well! FOR THE HOME:  galvanized tiered stand / vintage tole tray / vintage ornaments

I love a galvanized tiered stand, and I’m guessing most women in your life would too.  You could use them in the kitchen, the dining room, even the bathroom (with rolled up towels).  I think I’ve made my love for tole trays clear, and I have lots of vintage ornaments on our tree.  I love the old world feel they give!

FOR THE PUPS:  Nylabone / cave bed / Golden Retriever Christmas Ornament

Nylabones are the only bones that our furry guys don’t destroy.  The cave bed has fantastic reviews, and you know we had to add some Golden ornaments to our tree this year.

FOR THE BOYS:  soccer ball / remote control car / Magformers vehicle set

Carter must have 5 soccer balls, and he still always looks for new ones! Remote control cars are always a hit with boys, and Magformers have been a staple in our house since Carter was 3.  They are expensive, but they provide hours and hours of imaginative play and fun!

FOR HER:  refurbished Dyson hairdyer / portable lit make up mirror / acrylic make up organizer

Not just for teachers, the infinity scarf linked comes in 9 colorways, and it’s UNDER $10!!!  Incredible!  I know that teachers are always loaded down with papers to and from school, so this teacher bag would be a super functional (and cute!) gift to give.  The personalized classroom sign is also a thoughtful gift that I know a teacher would love to display in her room.
