Today is What’s Up Wednesday with Shay and Mel!
Please join us and let everybody know
WHAT’S UP with you this fine Wednesday!
We had fajitas on Monday and burgers on Tuesday.
Tonight we are having grilled chicken and marinated peppers. Tomorrow? Who knows.
But I’m guessing I’m going to have to go to the grocery store unless we just want
to eat bread and tator tots. Dang.
Which makes me want to BAWL MY HEAD OFF.
2 years old.
For some reason I couldn’t get the pictures for the last 2 years to upload! But you’re not missing anything. He was a Skylander when he was 5 (with a mask) and he was Hiccup from How to Train Your Dragons last year (with a mask).
We’ve been having lots of fun around here lately!
Here are just a handful of things we’ve been up to:
*
The whole family headed to a birthday for all 3 kiddos in the Dargatz family at a Pumpkin Patch.
Here I am with the little man.
No, I don’t travel with a wind machine….it was just a little windy.
Here’s Carter with his friend Topher. 🙂
.It was raining off an on all day Saturday…and there was LOTS of football watching going on at my house by the man that lives with us. 🙂 So I picked up Luke (Narci‘s kiddo) and headed to see Hotel Transylvania 2. But it was sold out.
And this is how the boys felt about it.
So we headed to the mall to do the Lego store and the playground.
Each boy got to pick a toy, and as his mama put it, look is VERY serious about his decision making.
This was his face most of the time in the store.
At one point I looked at him and said “Okay, Luke. It’s time to make a decision.”
And he looked at me and said, “I know. I’m crazy.”
HYSTERICAL!
Carter got in on the action and was trying to convince him why this was the set he needed to get.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
Sunday night I went to hear my friend Manda and her mom speak at church.
They are just the sweetest and most courageous ladies you could ever meet.
Click HERE to see the blog post I did about Manda back in October of last year.
I will tell you this, there was not a dry eye in the house.
Manda battled cancer when she was 5 years old, again when she was 28, and she’s about to start a clinical trial (and would love to have your prayers!).
Their faith through it all has been ASTOUNDING.
I cried the entire hour she and her mom spoke and was so inspired hearing about how God was with them (and they could share specific and very real examples of how He was with them) every step of the way.
LOVE YOU MANDA!
FAITH OVER FEAR!
Fingers crossed it’s not going to be pouring down rain!
WHAT I’M WATCHING
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHEMMMMMMMMMMMMGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
And tell me you didn’t just sing that line.
WHAT I’M WEARING
$8 red studs / long cami / free people swingy tee / ag skinny ankle jeans / red hunter boots
(If you are a Costco member, there are Hunter boots in stores and online right now. Nordstrom was price-matching earlier today, but I’ve heard from several readers that they are no longer doing so. Sorry!)
And a hat.
Because I may or may not have washed my hair.
Old Navy boyfriend flannel pullover (lots of color options!) / Gray Monroe Jeans (They are called the Evyn. I’m wearing a medium.) / red hunter boots
When it’s cold outside, your feet will definitely get cold in your boots if you don’t have some really warm socks! You can find many options HERE for both you and the kids!
We are going to a neighborhood party and trick-or-treating.
And again, let’s just pray that it’s not pouring.
If it does, at least my feet will be dry in my super cute boots. 😉
Thanksgiving!
We are doing lunch with my family’s extended family, and then we are headed to the ranch afterwards where we will also get to see Chris’s family!
Love me some family.
‘Love me some food.
😉
I couldn’t think of anything for this one….so you are getting several SALE ALERTS!
AND MORE ITEMS ON SALE!!!!
Certain sizes have been re-stocked in my beloved jeans (that I refer to as my pajama jeans!). If you buy these jeans, buy down 1 size. I wear a 26 in them.
Everything in this collage is between 33-50% OFF!
FAVORITE THANKSGIVING RECIPE!
So this isn’t my favorite recipe, but I think it’s a recipe that could help a lot of you out.
We alternate Thanksgivings with mine and Chris’s family.
And when we are with Chris’s family, we typically spend the night at the family’s ranch house (which has a very small kitchen). So I need to take something that is easy to make.
Well, you can’t get easier than this.
I’m not even going to pretend like it’s a recipe, but it is delish.
Basically, you take a tub (or 3) of this:
And all you do is add butter, sour cream, bacon, bits, and cheese to taste.
Bake at 350 until warm throughout.
Seriously.
That’s it.
Erika Slaughter says
I LOL'd twice…once at the wind machine and then at your recipe! For some reason those potatoes in a tub always make me a little nervous but it sounds like I shouldn't be!!! Trying them on my next grocery trip!
Mix and Match Mama says
I cannot wait until Five Days of Fabulous!!! I get excited just thinking about it. And Carter's Halloween costumes are just about the cutest thing EVER! Oh my word! So cute!
Kjlb37 says
Thanks for the tip on the Hunter boot socks! Purchased the black boots at Costco this week so with the socks I will be all set:) Hope you are able to stay dry this weekend but if not at least you will be cute:)
Narci says
Right now, I'm thinking that those potatoes would be a delicious breakfast!! Yum!! Also, lol-ing at Luke! So thankful he got to spend such a fun weekend with Carter!!
Queen In Between says
I'm dying over here about the potatoes….love your honesty! haha Cute pictures of your little man…hope you guys have a super Halloween!
Lizzie Simantz says
OMG Carter's past Halloween costumes are adorable!!!
Kellee says
Grey's Anatomy…was that not the WORST DINNER PARTY!?!?

Oh Shania! Love her! Yes, "Man I feel like a Woman" is a great "old" country song! 🙂 And I totally sang it when I read it!

Helen Truesdale says
I just checked Costco.com and they have the red Hunter boots! Red, blue, green, black 🙂 (Matte and glossy)
Rachel says
Costco online has a ton of Hunter boots, and they have the red ones. My practical side had me buy the glossy gray ones, but if someone wants ones and Nordstrom will price match they should jump on it now. Costco didn't have many sizes left in the glossy red and glossy gray.
BrowerMom says
What size are you wearing in the Old Navy Flannel?
Sheaffer says
It's a small! Xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Sara Fehrenbacher says
Sheaffer…. you are my new best friend! I have been eye-balling those glossy graphite hunter boots for MONTHS! But I just couldn't get myself to spend $150 on a pair of rain boots. Went to COSTCO.com and got them for $80!! I wear a size 5, and was able to get the glossy graphite boots in my size! Yay!! I have a hard time finding women's shoes in a size 5. I'm so excited!!!!
Bri says
Morning! Going to finally order a pair of Hunter boots, but really confused on sizing! I wear a 9.5.. Do I order a 9 or 10?!?
Sheaffer says
I think you should order the 9!
Bri says
Thank you so much! I called Nordstrom and they price matched for me! So excited for them to arrive!
Elizabeth Stiles says
Whoa whoa whoa, Hunter boots available at Costco for nearly HALF the price! I don't know that we made a big enough deal about this. I will definitely be stocking up for Christmas presents!

Hi! I skimmed through your post this morning and just came back because I wanted to purchase the jeans you raved and raved about. I forget what they were called, but you had a whole long section on them with reader emails bragging them up and there is a new 2015 version of the MUST HAVE jeans. It looks like that entire section on the jeans is missing from the post now and it goes from the Kendra Scott bracelets to the pumpkin patch section. Can you repost it so we can check out the jeans?!? Thanks!!
Sheaffer says
Hey there! I meant to take that section out last night (before it posted this morning), but I fell asleep with my son and forgot to! I wanted to make it it's own post! E-mail me at pinteresttoldmeto@yahoo.com, and I will send you that part of the post today (since I'm not sure yet when I'm going to re-post it)! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂

Ok, awesome! Thanks! 🙂

I ordered the girls Hunter Boots from Costco because I've tried a couple different sizes in the women's that just didn't stay in my feet when I walk ( I am petite). They should arrive today!!!!!! Yippee!
Anna and Jay says
Costco.com has way more options than in store. They even have glossy pillar red and glossy grey online.
Erin Ecton says
I just price matched at Nordstrom and the woman on the phone didn't seem concerned about what color I was choosing. Costco online has more colors available but limited sizes at this point. The ones I ordered from Nordstrom are on back order for a few weeks but I'm happy to wait at that price.
Unknown says
Costco does have red, however both norsdtroms and Costco are selling out. When I called the gal I talked to said she had taken so many orders for hunter boots this morning, I am sure that is all thanks to you!
V @ X-tremely V says
Carter is absolutely adorable in all those costumes! How much does Costco have the Hunters for? I might need to order a pair! And oh my goodness does Luke remind me of my son Xavier! He is seriously in deep thought when getting to pick out a toy! lol!
mel @ the larson lingo says
LOVE the adorable Halloween pics of Carter!!!! Such a cutie!!!
And, send the rain to California….we are in a major drought….I bought Hunter boots 2 years ago…I've only worn them 4 times!!!!!

Bahahaha – cracking up at the "old" country music!!! Shania Twain, wasn't that the 90's and weren't the 90's just a few years ago???
Kendra Petrellese says
I love seeing all the old photos of your sweet boy! He looks absolutely thrilled in his giraffe costume 😉 I am so jealous you have been wearing your rain boots so often-send some of that rain to Cali please! I would loooove an excuse to purchase some wellies!
Kristen Derstein says
You and your blog are the BOMB! I just ordered the Hunter boots on costco's website and and so excited! Thanks so much for all the great outfits and tips you give us! 🙂

Any chance you can get your friend to make a Christmas card for the stud earrings. I am using them as Christmas gifts. I have already ordered the earrings and it would be great to have a card to put them on.
Sheaffer says
Absolutely! We already have 2 great ideas so you can have options! I'll put them on the blog with the first or 2nd week of November! Xoxo, Sheaffer
Tiffany Bagalini says
I'm SOOOOOO bummed I did not read this earlier to scoop up the Hunter boots at Costco (or Nordies price matched). Costco only has 2 sizes left online. Might need to run to my local store and see if they have any 🙂
StacyHudson says
I can NOT believe the Hunter boots at Costco…what a steal! I just saw this today, went online and was able to scoop up the red matte. They still had lots of sizes still available (I only checked the green and red). YAY! Thank you!
Claire West says
I LOVE that little dragon costume!!!! Our daughter had one of those Old Navy dragons as well, so cute, and she actually wore it all year long until the tail fell off and we had to buy another one!
Jeanelle says
Try the Pandora "Trisha Yearwood" station – I was listening to the "90s country" one and the Trisha one is SO much better. And I love your blog!!
