Happy Wednesday! It’s time for everybody to join up today with Shay and me and let us know WHAT’S UP this fine Wednesday!
Let’s get right to it!

WHAT WE ARE EATING
I don’t have any super fun meals to share with you, but I did want to share this new item from Trader Joe’s. You’re looking at snack size single serving packages of artichokes. They are lightly marinated (think lime juice, salt, garlic, thyme) and delicious. I’ve popped open a package to eat on its own, and I’ve also put them on top of salads. They are only 15 calories per package so they really are a perfect little snack. Plus, let’s be honest…even if I didn’t like artichokes I’d be tempted to buy them just because of the pretty packaging. Somebody in marketing really knows what’s up. Haha!
I made Shay’s King Ranch Chicken Soup last Friday so I could eat on it over the weekend while my guys were out of town. I bought the already shredded rotisserie chicken they have at Market Street, so the soup could not have been simpler to make. It was so yummy! I of course loaded it up with grated cheese, corn tortilla strips, and a healthy dallop of sour cream! Oh, one of my favorite parts of King Ranch Casserole is the sauteed onions and bell peppers, so I added those!

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT
I’m proud to be working with Social Threads today, and I’m highlighting 3 AMAZING tops and 1 FABULOUS bag. Y’ALL. They’ve even activated the code STMT10, and for the next 48 hours you can get 10% OFF your order. I think their bags are usually excluded from promotions, but they’re not today! They have some really great totes and clutches!
After seeing these next several items, I’m hopeful that y’all love this boutique and these pieces as much as I do! So many of the items they carry are special, and I love browsing the site and discovering these special pieces. (FYI, these pieces are a bit more expensive than many of the other pieces I usually highlight, but I don’t mind spending extra money on special pieces. I’ve found that it’s worth it to me!)
If y’all like what you see, there’s a possibility that this can turn into a monthly highlight, so let me know your thoughts!
SPECIAL TOP #1
Let’s kick things off with this embroidered babydoll top.
More on the top in just a second, but let’s talk about the jeans. Mine are the “A1 Ska Blue”. They are a great light-medium wash that is perfect for spring. I originally recommended them a couple of months ago, and I’ve received tons of feedback (at least 50 comments or e-mails!) from y’all letting me know that you ordered the jeans and love them too. They aren’t normal jean sizing, but at a regular 27 or sometimes 28 (depending on the jean brand), I ordered the medium. They have some serious stretch to them, so I think a small would have been fine, but I’m good with the fit of the mediums. I really like these jeans, and at under $40 they are an incredible buy. I should mention that on the site, they aren’t cuffed. You’ll see on the site that they have a chewed hem, but in order to be the right length on me, I cuff them. Also, a reader brought to my attention that the site describes them as “jeggings”, but I don’t agree with this. I think they are more accurately described as a thin denim with stretch.

Okay, this top.
I love everything about it. The colors, the pattern, the split v neckline, the overall silhouette, the embroidery, and the gathered bodice. There’s even little fringe on the hem of the sleeve. You see what I mean? This top is SPECIAL.
It’s a super relaxed fit, but I’m still wearing a medium because there isn’t much give in the chest area (and I need some give). The bodice is flowy and feminine, and it can be worn out or in a half tuck.

These wedges are FABULOUS and this tote is seriously next level.
The wedges have excellent reviews (75 reviews, and 85% of them are 5 stars), and I whole-heartedly agree. Most of the reviews are totally raving about the comfort level. Now listen, they are tall, but they truly are comfy and easy to walk in! The platform styling helps with this, but they are still a wedge (and not a true platform). I actually have trouble walking in a true platform (I feel too flat-footed), and I feel like a true platform is too chunky and isn’t flattering to my legs at all. These babies are flattering, comfy, and totally hot. It’s like a wedge trifecta. Oh, and they are also an incredible deal at just under $40.
And I think the tote looks like a $450 Shopbop bag. BUT Y’ALL, it’s ONLY $40. The straw weave is tight and sturdy, the bag has great structure, and the beaded circle handle is so incredibly chic.

And here’s the top styled with denim cut offs and studded slide sandals. You can get 10% OFF of the cutoffs too with the STMT10 code.

SPECIAL TOP #2
Now let’s talk about this cap sleeve embroidered number, which is another very special top. The embroidery work is absolutely beautiful, the colors are stunning, and I love the attention to detail. Notice the flowers, but also notice the color-blocked border. And it’s got a split sleeve!
I really went for it with this outfit and infused color into every part of the look including the earrings and the clutch. The code STMT10 will get you 10% OFF the clutch too. It comes in a simple blue and white stripe too that is totally classic.

Styled here a bit differently with jeans and wedges…
The top is light, airy, and gauzy! I’ll be wearing this all summer long, but I can guarantee you I will pull it out for Cinco de Mayo! For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

I think this clutch will actually be the cutest when paired with just a plain colored tee and denim cut offs. It will also look awesome with a solid color maxi and denim jacket!

And here’s the top styled here with denim shorts, the oversized straw tote, and flat sandals. COME! ON! SUMMER!

SPECIAL TOP #3
I know this is going to be hard to believe, but I have 1 more really special top for y’all.
mixed print ruffle sleeve top / sunglasses / turquoise earrings / LOVE necklace/ leather tote, / distressed girlfriend jeans / woven mules
LOOK AT THESE SLEEVES! They are a double ruffle, and they are adorable (without being too sweet).
Y’all know I like to cover the tops of my arms, and these sleeves offer some coverage while still being fun and flirty! I’m straight up in love with the sleeves. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
I think this top looks great with blue denim, but imagine how fabulous it will be with white denim!
mixed print ruffle sleeve top / sunglasses / turquoise earrings / LOVE necklace/ leather tote, / distressed girlfriend jeans
mixed print ruffle sleeve top / chakra bracelet / distressed girlfriend jeans
This tote is made of 100% genuine leather, it’s only $100, and I’m telling you it looks like a much more expensive bag. When I found it on Amazon a couple of weeks ago, I just about died! I absolutely LOVE the look of a well-loved bag. It’s important to realize that because it is real leather, the distinctive features of the surface will have pores, wrinkles, scars and uneven color, showing a retro and distressed style. I think that’s what gives a bag it’s charm and makes it look high end. This bag looks high end.
These woven mules are what I think of as a perfect transition shoe for spring. They’re closed toe (so you don’t look silly wearing them in March when the weather is warm), but you could wear them all the way through summer and into fall as well. These are true to size, soooo comfy, and the reviews are dang near perfect They are just under $25 (what a deal!) and they come in black and beige as well.

All of the tops I featured today are THML. Can you see why I’ve been a fan of the brand for years? They are known for their special pieces, and I always look forward to adding 1 or 2 to my closet each year. They used to carry a small number of THML items at Nordstrom, but now I only find pieces at Social Threads!
Click HERE for the THML spotlight collection on the Social Threads site if you want to check out everything they have.
ALL OF THE PIECES ARE DARLING. Remember to use the code STMT10 at checkout for 10% OFF!

WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT
If you remember, last February was when North Texas was smack dab in the middle of what people are now calling Snowmageddon.
The kids were out of school for an entire week!
It was a terrible time for lots of our friends because they lost power for days on end, but we never lost power. Here are a few pictures from that week…

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO
I cleaned my closet out over the weekend, and I listened to 3 previous podcast episodes I’d missed. The time FLEW by! It’s like Erika and Shay were in my closet with me and I loved listening! Click HERE to listen yourself. Their episode this week is on 90s memories, so I can’t wait to listen to that one!
*************************
WHAT I’M WATCHING
A Million Little Things comes back this week AND I CANNOT WAIT! Grey’s Anatomy also starts back at the end of this month, and I’m dying to see how they are going to continue with the storyline that they left us hanging with on the last episode!
************************
WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO
I know I already shared that I cleaned out my closet last weekend.
But I feel like it deserves another mention.
BECAUSE IT WAS QUITE THE ENDEAVOR.
My mom and dad drove up for my mom to get all of the clothes I was handing off to her, and she was PUMPED when she saw the haul. Look at all I gave to my mom this weekend! (I actually had a handful of questions about my process for getting rid of clothes, and I had lots of requests to see my closet! I think that would be a fun stand-alone post, so I’m going to work on getting that together for March.)
And while I was working on my closet pretty much all weekend long, Chris and Carter were at the ranch living their best lives with one of Chris’s college buddies and his son. I didn’t get many pictures sent to me, but I did get this one of Carter fishing!

WHAT I’M WEARING
So it’s usually here where I just post outfits I’ve actually worn during my day-to-day life over the previous weeks. Well, I’ve got nothing new for you today because every outfit I’ve worn recently is an outfit you’ve already seen on the blog.
I’ve actually worn this pullover an embarrassing number of times over the last 2-3 weeks. Like I think I’ve worn it 5 times. You know, you throw it on a chair one night, and you pick it up the next day. Haha! It’s lined with a light fleece, so it’s cozy and warm, but it’s not too thick or hot. The stripes are adorable, but the collar on this quarter zip is my favorite part. It stands up on his own and is just so dang cute. I own it in coral too. I sized up in this one to a large because the coral that I have in a medium is pretty fitted on me. It still fits, but it’s just a different look.
I’ve actually worn it most often with my dark heather grey joggers, I just kept forgetting to snap a picture.

I’ve actually had the joggers I just mentioned on serious repeat.
This henley pullover is a great modal fabric and it’s ON SALE in this heather grey color. It’s 58% Cotton, 39% Modal, and 3% Spandex which means it’s got some stretch to it and the fabric is kinda thick, but nice and cool. It’s a relaxed fit, but it’s not boxy. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium. I’ve had this pullover for a couple of years now, and it launders perfectly.
Now here’s what’s funny. I’ve had the joggers for about a year or so. I bought the pieces separately, and I actually had NO IDEA that they were a matching set until I pulled them both out of the dryer about a month ago and was like HEY! WAIT A MINUTE! THESE MATCH! I think they make the cutest little outfit! For size reference, I’m wearing a small in the joggers and a meadium in the pullover. They launder perfectly.
I have these sneakers and cannot recommend them enough. They are true to size for me.
henley pullover / joggers / sneakers (6703 gray)
I wore this batwing sweater to girl’s night last week. It comes in several color options, but I was immediately smitten with the blush, taupe, cream combination thing going on here. Now listen, this sweater is BIG. It’s super soft and drapes nicely, but it is BIG. I’m wearing a small, and it’s still big. It’s definitely leggings friendly, but you can still do a 1/2 tuck with it (seen on the right). In summary… it’s really big, but I really like it.

Bright and happy colors, fun stripes, and a medium weight….this sweater is PERFECT FOR SPRING.
I love the tight cuffs, the band around them hem of the sweater, and the border color on the hem. It’s definitely one of my favorite pieces I’ve found in the last several weeks. It’s something I know I will wear all the time.
For size reference, I grabbed a medium because some reviewers wrote that even though it launders well, there is some shrinking that occurs (so I wanted to have some extra room). I LOVE THIS SWEATER.

MY RECENT AMAZON ORDERS
Shay and I thought it would be fun to add this last category to our What’s Up Wednesday posts! We always love seeing what other people order on Amazon, so we are looking forward to checking out everybody’s lists on future posts.
HERE ARE MY MOST RECENT PURCHASES:
I’ve bought several new beauty products recently on Amazon, including this little french manicure nail polish duo.
My manicure was 5 days old here. The only reason it even looks old is because you can see where my nails have grown out on the bottom above the cuticles, but the polish itself looks great! I am very pleased with this set!
I also ordered these OPI drying drops. My friend Cassie raves about them, so I knew I had to try them. I was #influenced. You apply one drop of Drip Dry Lacquer Drying Drops on top of your manicure to set your nail polish and speed up drying time. It cuts my drying time in half, and the drops are infused with Jojoba & Vitamin E, so the solution is great for my cuticles too!
Just last night I re-ordered this lip mask treatment that I cannot live without. As soon as it starts getting low, I immediately reorder it. I have to put it on at night before I go sleep EVERY SINGLE NIGHT, and I often use it during the day as well.
I grabbed this black tiered dress for next month’s Amazon haul. It hasn’t arrived yet, but I’m excited! I’ll style it more casually with flat sandals and a tote, and then I’ll also style it a bit dressier with wedges and a clutch.
My mom mentioned to me that she needed an earring holder like mine (but not as expensive) for her bathroom counter, so I hopped on Amazon and this one will arrive at her house on Friday. It has excellent reviews and is a great price at just $16! The earrings in this one are not the cutest, but once you have cute earrings displayed, it will look great sitting out on a bathroom counter or on top of a dresser. And she doesn’t know this yet, but I also ordered her the lip mask above and my favorite blow dry spray (because I know she’ll love both)!
I also ordered this darling tote for a friend’s birthday. I’m so excited to give it to her! I’m going to stuff it with some great items from Trader Joe’s, and she’s going to love it! I know she’ll use it all the time hauling food when her family goes to the lake.

I agree that special tops are worth the price. I have a couple that you’ve previously recommended from Anthropologie, and they have been 100% worth it for me. I need to decide which one I want from today, but I’m leaning towards the last one you featured with the double ruffle sleeve. Thanks for the intro to this brand!
Sheaffer says
YES, Elizabeth! These tops are very similar to some Anthro tops I’ve recommended in the past. If I remember correctly, those tops were around $120, so today’s tops feel like a deal! I love them so much! xoxo

Hi Shea! I am not a nail tech but am self taught and have been doing my own nails for over 35 years, even though I use gel because I have always had such weak nails, then gel polish over the top of that.
Obviously, this is not the way a professional would handle outgrowth, but for a DIY’er, it works! You can avoid that outgrowth line at the cuticle if you don’t use the more opaque pink polish that came with your kit on the base of the nail. You can just use regular clear polish, or if you prefer a little color, you can use a thin coat of a very sheer pink (or peach, whichever suits your coloring best). That way, as it grows out, you can just smooth it out with a nail file and add another thin coat of clear polish over the top. If using the sheer color, you may want to stop before you get to the white tip. Just fade it out before you get to it. The polish will look much nicer for longer that way. I hope that makes sense!
I hope I have not offended any professional nail tech that may follow yor blog. But if one is doing their own nails at home, we may as well use whatever tips work! xo
Sheaffer says
Thanks for the tip, Karen!!! I will try that! xoxo
