What’s Up Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!  It’s time for everybody to join up today with Shay and me and let us know WHAT’S UP this fine Wednesday!

WHAT WE ARE EATING

I’m coming up seriously short in the food department over here lately.  But I did want to share a picture of my salad from Mod Pizza.  It’s their new Greek salad, and OMG it’s good.  Roasted red peppers, cucumbers, black olives, purple onions, tomatoes, chickpeas, and a Greek lemon vinaigrette dressing over crisp romaine lettuce.  #delish

And I cannot believe I didn’t snap a picture of this, but we had an END OF SCHOOL party on Friday night with some of our neighbors.  I ordered  the On The Border “Grand Fajita Feista” from the catering menu ($14.29 per person), and it was so good and so easy! We had 15 people (8 adults and 7 kids), and we ordered for 12 and it was plenty for our bunch.  And they even delivered it since it was over $100!  In addition to chicken and beef fajitas (with all the peppers and onions) queso, guac, rice, beans, and all the fixins (shredded lettuce, pico de gallo, grated cheese, salsa, tortillas, and chips) our package also included lemonade and soapapillas! They delivered all of the main foods in foil pans, and then all of the fixins were delivered in sturdy tupperware like containers.  They even included serving utensils, plates, plastic ware, and cups. IT WAS AWESOME. We all agreed that the chicken was better than the beef, so we will get only chicken when we do it again, but we will definitely do it again.  Just thought some of y’all might be planning a fiesta soon that might want to know about this option!

WHAT I’M LOVING

Carter’s love for Buddy and Charlie is the sweetest thing to see.

I love watching them grow up together.

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO

A couple of weeks ago it was fajitas and margaritas with some of my girls.

And then last weekend my fried Jeni threw a seriously EPIC party at her home for the Byron Nelson.  Her brother and sister in law were co-hosts, and I’m telling you, these 4 know how to throw a party.

This is Jeni’s backyard all set up for the party.  I’ll pause for the oohs and ahhs.

Jeni’s gorgeous new home is on the Craig Ranch course where the tournament was being played, and they went ALL. OUT.  We’re talking a live band, catered Bar B Que from Local Yocal (it was DELISH), and more beverage choices than you can even imagine.  It was a FREAKING BLAST.

It was fun getting to meet some of Jeni’s other friends, and I even ran into a couple of people that I graduated high school with (and hadn’t seen in over 20 years)!  A great time was had by all for sure!  Just look at all of those happy people in the background!  I’m not familiar enough with golf to know how often tournaments are hosted at the same courses, but I’m going to cross my fingers it’s back at Craig Ranch very soon.

WHAT WE ARE REMINISCING ABOUT

Last Friday was Carter’s last day of school, so we of course had to take the standard end of year school picture.

Here he is on the first and last day of 6th grade.  MY WORD THIS BOY HAS GROWN. Check out where his shoulders fall in relation to the lines on the door and the door handle.

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT

We’re going to be spending a lot of great family time at the ranch very soon, and I’m really looking forward to it.  Pictures to follow!  We’re also going to the beach with friends towards the end of June, and I’m sooooo ready for that.

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO

I’m a huge fan of Million Dollar Listing New York, but for some reason I hadn’t seen any of last season.  I recorded all of the episodes, and when I’m doing computer work, I have them constantly playing in the background so I can get all caught up.  It’s not the best strategy, because I often end up “watching” instead of just “listening”…which definitely affects productivity.  #oops

The last several nights we’ve watched some old school movies with Carter.  Goonies, Rudy, and Shawshank Redemption for the win!  I mean, we went from one spectrum to the other, but they are some of our standard favorites.

WHAT I’M WORKING ON

I’ve got a post coming up with tarte that I’m super excited about, and I’ve been having a lot of fun playing with some new products.  So far, my favorites are the lip oil, the tarteist lash paint mascara (I’ve been using it for over a month now and LOVE IT), and I’m playing around with the brow pomade with great results.

This turquoise bracelet is from the Victoria Emerson x Sheaffer Told Me To collection!  The lighting is weird here, but the colors are much more vibrant.

These straight legged crop jeans have been my GO TO jeans all Spring, but only limited sizes are still available.

These heeled muled sandals are my newest shoe purchase, and I think they’re awesome.  I have plenty of wedges and plenty of flat sandals, but I felt like I was missing something.  These shoes filled the void.

I ordered a 1/2 size up as suggested, and they are perfect.  They’ve got a great block heel, and I’ve enjoyed wearing them with both jeans and dresses so far.  If your size is sold out, they are also available at Madewell.

These denim cut offs are from Old Navy.  I bought them off of a reader recommendation, and I I’m glad I let her tell me to!  They are higher waisted than my other shorts, but I like how they hold me in.  They don’t have as much stretch as my other shorts, but I don’t mind because the fit is so great.  I’m in the 6s here, but I actually think I might like the fit of the 8s even better for a little more breathing room, so I would definitely suggest sizing up 1 size.  (I ordered both the 6 and the 8, but a pair of jeggings were delivered instead of the size 8 shorts.  Haha!)

To compare, on the left you see my favorite denim shorts and on the right you see the Amazon version.  As you can see, they are very similar.  I would say that the Amazon version is maybe a little shorter and maybe a little more stretchy.  They are also a bit darker blue, but the distressing is super similar, as are the rolled cuffs.  I’m wearing a medium in the Amazon shorts.

I still prefer my favorite denim shorts, but the Amazon ones are UNDER $30 right now, which means they are less than half the price.  When I took them out of the box, I thought they looked SUPER tiny and that I wouldn’t fit in them, but like I said…they are stretchy.

This camo tie waist top comes in 5 different camo colors and is a great tee to throw on all summer.  I’m wearing the small here.  The sleeves are a bit long on the arm (which I love), and I think the little tie is so cute.

And I’ve got one more flat lay for you!  This is the $19 striped muscle tank from the under $40 collage as well.  I mean, I tripled down on the stripes, and I love it.
