Hey Everybody! Today is the last Wednesday of the month, so you know what that means….it’s time to join up with me, Shay and Mel and let everybody know WHAT’S UP with you this fine Wednesday!
WHAT WE ARE EATING THIS WEEK
Monday – We went to our favorite hole in the wall burger joint on the east side of McKinney! Chris googled “best burger in McKinney” a couple of months ago, this place popped up, and now we are hooked. It’s called The One and Only Burgers and Fries, and the menu literally has burgers, fries, and hot dogs on it. That’s all. But OH MY WORD are they yummy. Nothing special, just good old fashioned delicious burgers!
Tuesday – Girl’s Night Out (yummy baked ziti at Erika’s house), and the boys fended for themselves.
Wednesday – fajitas at home / Thursday – steaks at home / Friday – we’ll eat out!

WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT
This was posted on my time hop from 2 years ago….and I shall post it every year from now until the day I die. Because I laugh out loud every single time I see it. This was Easter a couple of years ago. Hysterical.
This doesn’t really qualify as reminiscing, because it only happened three nights ago, but just go with me on this. 🙂 Sunday night I had the privilege of being front row when my friend Narci shared her testimony with over 300 ladies at our church. I laughed, I cried, and I was so incredibly proud of her. The time flew by (always a great sign when listening to a speaker), and I know she spoke to many hearts!
Here’s just some of the women in attendance! Great job, Narci!

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO
We went to the family ranch this past weekend, and it was pretty much the perfect little trip.
On Friday, Carson (Carter’s 3rd cousin and bestie) had some of his friends over for a sleepover at the camp house. Mama’s went home after we grilled out burgers, and the dads stayed with the boys. They had a blast! We got some rain on Friday night, but the rest of the weekend was glorious weather and everything was so beautifully green!
Carson’s grandparents got him a paddle boat for his birthday, and it was a HUGE hit with all the boys. They paddled their hearts out around the tank and fished off the boat for hours at a time.
These boys were serious about fishing.
And look what this guy caught! Now he’s got bass fever. 🙂
I didn’t put on a stitch of make up, and I didn’t wash my hair all weekend. It was awesome.
I mean. Look at that little arm around his daddy.
The ranch is my happy place.
There was even a turtle catching. But don’t worry, after a few pictures, he was released right back into the tank.
We are already trying to figure out when we are going to go back again. It’s the perfect place to disconnect from the world (hello, no wifi or cell service!) and just concentrate on friends and family!

WHAT I’M LOVING
I love it when things that I love (that have previously sold out) get restocked, and THIS clutch is BACK IN STOCK! It’s a great size, the embroidery is amazing, and check out the POMP POMS!!!! And the ankle tie flats are a great price point and quite comfy. The bell sleeves on the poplin top are so stinkin’ cute. My normal size was too small in the top, but I promptly ordered 1 size up.

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT
On Friday I’m going to share some of my mom’s favorite new products with y’all, and I’m so excited! She started using a new skincare line a couple of months ago, and just 4 days in she was already happy with the results. A couple of months in, she’s THRILLED with the differences she’s seeing in her skin, so she will be sharing her thoughts on the new products on Friday!

WHAT I’M WATCHING
Yesterday I got to watch Shay, Smith, and Kensington on the Hallmark channel’s Home and Family show! The segment was adorable, and Shay and the kids did such a great job! But now Carter wants to know why he never gets to go on t.v. with his mom. #sorrykid 🙂

WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND
We’re kind of running around like crazy people this weekend! Baseball games, birthday parties, and I’m hoping I can squeeze a nap in somewhere! 🙂

WHAT I’M WEARING
GAP is hit or miss for me, but this top alone makes it a BIG OL’ HIT for me right now! It’s loose and breezy (I sized up and ordered a medium), and I love the navy and white color combo as well as the embroidered detailing. And I’m obviously having a hard time taking my frayed hem ankle jeans off of my body.
embroidered top / frayed hem ankle jeans / toms flip flops
This was my Outfit of the Day this past weekend. #ranchhousestyle
similar military jacket from Old Navy HERE…..other options from LOFT HERE and from Nordstrom HERE/ striped tee (in navy and red) /necklace (type in “engraved bar” ) / frayed hem ankle jeans / similar neutral new balance sneakers (I actually like these better than mine.)
I’ve been wearing the tar out of my New Balance sneakers. Mine are kind of a grey, but THIS pair is more of a cream, and I love them even more.
The exact military jacket I’m wearing above is from Old Navy 2 years ago. This year they have a similar one that comes in 4 other color choices! Click HERE to see the other color choices!
In case you are wondering, I’m still wearing my pink bomber. It’s such a fun alternative to throw on to my regular denim or military jackets. It runs a bit on the large size, but I didn’t want it fitted, so I went with my regular small.
blush bomber / grey slouchy tee / necklace / similar jeans / necklace/earrings / best flats ever
I got some reader comments from some of you that loved the jacket, but thought it was too expensive at $109. Well, good news! I found 2 other pink bomber jackets that are similar, but they are less expensive. You can find pink bomber options HERE and HERE and plus size option HERE
Here are the bomber options:
So I haven’t worn this yet…..but I’m realllllllllly excited to wear it to a couple of events I have coming up. The shift shape is my favorite, and I love a buffalo check! For size reference, I’m wearing a petite small in the dress. I’m 5’4″, and it’s definitely short….but I wanted it to be. I would think most people that are at least 5’4″ might prefer the regular sizing. And let’s not overlook that the dress has pockets. BAM.
dress / hot pink earrings / clutch c.o. Live FashionABLE / Cork wedges from last year, and I can’t find any cork ones that I like. 🙁 / Necklace several years old from LOFT.

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH
April is both mine and Chris’s birthday month!

FAVORITE THING(S) TO WEAR FOR SPRING
Okay, so I showed these block heels to y’all last week, and I’ve been tickled pink over the e-mails I’ve received from people in the last several days that got them for themselves. None of you can believe how comfy they are, and several said they hopped on and ordered another color as well. #theyrethatgood
In the picture below, I’m wearing the $59 frayed hem ankle jeans from Wednesday’s post (you really need to see the full length pic and the review of these awesome jeans). And y’all! The leopard clutch is $45 and the sunglasses are $12! All of these are great spring and summer staples that you’ll be seeing again and again in lots of my future outfits. And the block heels are ON SALE for $59.90! Click HERE for the shoes.
So let’s talk about these jeans. Yes, again. Now that I’ve had them for a couple of weeks I can say with 100% CONFIDENCE that they are the perfect casual spring and summer jean. The light faded wash, the ankle length, and the frayed hem….it’s all good. I’m 5’4″, and I love how all types of shoes work with them: wedges, flat sandals, flats, converse, sneakers, etc….! And the ankle hem shows off the footwear. And they are ONLY $59. For size reference, I’m wearing a 27, which is true to size for me. However, if you are between sizes, I would definitely suggest sizing down. And I cannot tell you how comfy these are. Remember the Vigoss jeans from last year that I termed “pajama jeans”? Well, these deserve that title as well! And just take a look at them!
frayed hem jeans / sneakers (similar sneakers well stocked HERE)
Even though this is supposed to be about Spring favorites, I’m already thinking about summer. And to be honest, we are already experiencing summer temperatures in my neck of the woods with some days reaching the 80s. I bought a pair of Lou and Grey shorts at Northpark several weeks ago, but after I got them home, I realized I just didn’t love the fit. So I’ve ordered THESE. Fingers crossed that I adore them. A great pair of jean shorts is very important in my summer wardrobe, and I’m hopeful that these are going to be my summer shorts! The Lou and Grey shorts were $79, and these are only $39! If you prefer a frayed hem to these rolled shorts, there are a pair HERE you might like.
One more thing, THESE AG Jeans are being price matched for 25% OFF. My favorite AG jeans that you’ve seen on here for years (I named them a Should Have Been a Must Have last year) are the exact same fit (both are called The Legging Ankle Jeans). These that are being price matched today seem to be a little bit lighter of a wash than mine (which is great for the spring and summer seasons), and they seem to have a little bit of extra distressing. They have 144 5 STAR REVIEWS!

This post left me wanting a fun clutch, a weekend away at your ranch, those frayed jeans, AND the pink bomber. All from that ONE post!

Thanks SO much for recommending the frayed hem ankle jeans. They arrived this week and I absolutely love them! Exactly what I was looking for in a light wash jean for spring. And as a fellow McKinney resident, I appreciate your restaurant recommendations. Can’t wait to try out that burger joint!
Narci says
First, I can not even handle that picture of Carter and Brody! So precious! Also, thank you so much for your sweet words and for your support! I am so thankful for you!! 🙂 xoxo
Chris says
If you’re looking for the perfect denim shorts, try the Hudson Croxley shorts (available at Nordstrom and elsewhere). Comes in lots of washes. Super comfortable with tons of stretch and inseam long enough to be mom appropriate and short enough to be sassy and stylish. Only thing is, they are pricey….
Brittany Hensley says
I am loving all things with bell sleeves..give me all the tops and dresses asap! Happy Wednesday.

Amy, I just got those last week and I’m going to show them on the blog on Friday I think! The wedges I was wearing in today’s post had cork straps as well (which I love!)…but I agree, these are a very similar look and I love them! And they are comfy! I got mine at Nordstrom! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂

Alexis deZayas says
LOVING that buffalo check dress and the leopard clutch!
Karen says
Connor and Brody…Priceless! I ordered and received the frayed jeans and can’t wait to wear them. They feel fabulous. Something not so fabulous is that I have opened the page to buy those block heels at least a half a dozen times and could not get myself to pull the trigger. Today was THE DAY, I’m getting those bad boys. I got them in my cart and went to check out only to realize the are not on sale. DANG!! Oh well, I still purchased them. With free shipping I can always send them back, just wish I’d have thought about that a day ago. And finally, I have to say a HUGE thank you on the 3rd love post. I received my new bra the other day and was truly impressed with how comfortable it was. I’m a 38D (no shame) so I need something with a little holding power. When I pulled it out of the box I thought no way is this going to support me let alone feel comfortable. WRONG!!! I’m in love and will definitely be buying more. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Sheaffer says
So happy that you are happy with your Third Love purchase, Karen! And DANG about the heels no longer being on sale. 🙁 xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Erin Port says
Ranch living is like lake living for this MN girl. No makeup, shower at night before bed and repeat! Love it! I wish we could have heard Narci, I am always so encouraged by other sisters’ in Christ’s stories. Y’all really do support each other well, what a testimony to good friendship. I admire that all about you. You each are working it but love and encourage each other so well. Love that! Have a great day!!!! xoxo ERIN
Sheaffer says
You’re so sweet, Erin! And actually, I think I might have a link to Narci’s talk tomorrow on the blog! Look for it!!!! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Brittney says
Hey Sheaffer! I ordered the fray jeans and they are a little long…I’m 5’2″. Do you think they could be hemmed easily? They fit perfectly everywhere else. Thoughts??
Sheaffer says
Hi, Brittney! That’s a great question, but I don’t know the answer to it. Can anybody else comment?
