What’s Up Wednesday

WHAT WE ARE EATING

Y’all.  We are in a serious rut over here.  Burgers, Tacos, Shrimp, Steak, Grilled Chicken, Fajitas, Repeat.  Over and Over again.  What can I say, we are creatures of habit.

And now that it’s warm weather, I’ve started making one of my favorite salads on repeat again too.  BUT I LOVE IT.

I know I’ve talked about this one before, but I’ll share it again.  This one has mixed greens, butter lettuce, grilled chicken, mandarin oranges, pineapple tidbits, fresh raspberries, avocado, dried cranberries, wonton strips, and low fat honey mustard dressing.  I call it the Caribbean Chicken Salad because it’s very similar to a salad that was on the menu at Chili’s years and years ago (before it was discontinued).  It’s amazing.

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO

We had a really slow weekend, and it was nothing short of glorious.

I’ll tell you this, nobody was lacking for snuggles.

WHAT I’M LOVING

I love a good lounge set.  And this is a GREAT lounge set.  I wore it two nights in a row, I washed it, and then I wore it two more nights in a row.  And then I washed it.  And then I wore it all day long the next day.

NO SHAME Y’ALL.

I might be wearing it again right now as I type this.  #allegedly

I’m wearing a small in both the sweatshirt and the shorts, and they are both a relaxed fit.  I normally would order a medium in pajamas because I like plenty o’ room in my pajamas, but the smalls had plenty of room for me, so definitely don’t order up.

WHAT WE ARE REMINISCING ABOUT

This popped up on my facebook memories from a year ago…

We were at the ranch for Spring Break last year when we got the call that school was being cancelled the week after Spring Break. So we made the decision to just extend our stay at the ranch by a week. After that, we got the call that school would not be continuing in person for the remainder of the year.  And then we basically stayed at the ranch for extended periods of time for the next 3 months.  We would come home every several weekends to collect mail, check on the yard and the house, and things like that.  But then we would head right back to the ranch.

And even though there was a lot of fear and unknowns during that time, I treasure that time our little family spent together.   During Spring Break we had been with family that live down at the ranch, so we just continued to hang with them.  We worked remotely, we did “school” remotely, rode around on the land, had lots of camp fires, fished all the time, had a ton of fish fries, and made some of the best memories of our lives.

WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND

We’ve got a soccer game, we’ve got Easter Sunday, and we’re hosting my family and Chris’s family for an Easter meal.  We are going to make it super casual and just grill burgers, and I’ll be making my favorite black bean salsa to have as an appetizer!  Click HERE for the recipe.

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT

Y’all know that I love Victoria Emerson bracelets.

I’ve got some BIG news!!!

Next month, I have a small collection launching on their site!  That’s right, it’s going to be an STMT x Victoria Emerson bracelet launch!  And it’s actually just the first of 3 collections.  5 bracelets will launch in May, 5 more bracelets will launch in August, and 5 more will launch in October.  And don’t worry, I’ll of course have a code to share with y’all so you can get them at a great price.

I’m so happy with how all 5 bracelets turned out, and I’m super excited to give you a sneak peek at 1 of them right now!  I. LOVE. THIS. BRACELET.

WHAT I’M WORKING ON

I placed some really big orders with several different retailers last week, and those orders are starting to come in.  So now I’m sifting through orders from Anthropologie, J Crew, LOFT, Amazon, and Nordstrom!

WHAT I’M WEARING – KEEP OR RETURN EDITION

Y’all really loved when I did the KEEP OR RETURN post last month, so you’re going to get a little bit of that today.  I’ll show you an outfit, I’ll focus on 1 or 2 pieces from the outfit, and then I’ll tell you if I’m going to KEEP it or RETURN it.

I love this top.  If it came in 3 other colors, I would buy all 3.  FOR REAL.  It’s like a thick t-shirt material, but the styling makes it cuter than just a regular ol’ t-shirt.  This color is called “sheer pink”, but it’s not sheer at all, and I think it’s more peachy than pink.  It’s such a pretty color and will look great with a tan!  For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

VERDICT ON HENLEY:  KEEP!  DUH!

Get excited.  First of all, these frayed hem shorts have the elusive 4″ inseam!  Not too long….not too short…JUST RIGHT.  They are super casual with the lighter wash and the frayed hem, and I’ll be adding these into my shorts rotation this summer.  My other shorts will be so happy to have a break.  They also have the stretchy waistband and the Ab Solution panels that we all love and adore.

Now, let’s talk sizing.  With Wit and Wisdom jeans I typically go with my regular size 4, but I sometimes size down (not often).  I do know that some readers consistently size down when buying Wit and Wisdom (even though I don’t).

Well, I SIZED UP IN THESE!  I’m wearing a 6.  When I pulled the size 4 shorts out of the box, I knew immediately they were going to be too small on me.  I think just about everybody will need to SIZE UP.

VERDICT ON SHORTS:  KEEP! KEEP! KEEP!  Remember to size up.

This floral puff sleeve top arrived just yesterday, and I took some quick pics so it could be in today’s post.  I love the pattern, I love the colors, and I LOVE the sleeves. It’s a great top and has a very Anthropologie look to it, don’t ya think?  For size reference, I’m wearing a medium because it’s got no stretch up top.  I would suggest to just stick with your regular size.  And great news!  It’s 40% OFF + FREE SHIPPING with the code TREAT!

VERDICT:  KEEP!  I think this top will look great with both my white jeans  and my washed black denim shorts too.

I really like these straight leg ankle jeans, and I think they are a fantastic option for those of you who liked the look of the Vigoss jeans I showed several times back in this post.  But here’s the deal, some of y’all only buy Wit and Wisdom jeans (which I totally get).  Mad respect by the way.  Haha!

So….I found an option for y’all with these!  They look much lighter on the site, and to be honest, they just don’t look great on the site.  But in person?  Well, in person I really like them!

When talking about sizes 0-10, I checked stock and there are under 3o of each size that are currently available.  Some of the more popular sizes have under 20, so grab ’em if you want to try them.  I’m wearing my regular size 4.  They aren’t quite as stretchy as most of my Wit and Wisdom jeans, so if you typically size down, you might want to reconsider.

VERDICT:  I don’t really need these since I already have the Vigoss jeans mentioned, but that’s the only reason I’m returning them.  If I didn’t have the Vigoss, I would definitely keep these.

I’m in love with the color and I adore the puff sleeve, but the tee was just too dang tight on me (I’m in a medium here).  If you’re small chested, it might be worth it to give it a try.

The strap, bag, shorts, and sandals are ALL GOOD.

VERDICT:  RETURN.  After my review above, it should come as no surprise that I’m returning the tee.  I prefer to not have to suck in the entire time I’m wearing a t-shirt.

And make sure you notice the gold sandals!  I’ve shown the black sandals before, but this is the first time I’m showing the gold sandals on my feet and styled in an outfit.  Comfy, Cush, and Cute!

Do y’all remember when I showed you this tie dye tee in the pink and red combo?  Y’all loved the red and pink, but it sold out pretty quickly, so I ordered this green and blue one to show another color option. I love the fit, and it’s crazy soft as well. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.  It comes in plus size too HERE!

VERDICT:  KEEP.

I seem to always been drawn to peplum tops.  This one has tiers too!  I’m wearing the “khaki”, but it comes in several colors.  For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

VERDICT:  Keeping the top, baby!

I’ve always loved a simple t-shirt dress, so I ordered this one as soon as I saw it!  It comes in this navy and a great green color as well.  For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

VERDICT:  RETURN.  I’m returning the dress…but only because it’s longer than I would like on my 5’4″ frame.  I think it will be great for you taller ladies.

I grabbed this tee from Amazon.  I’m wearing the coral and pink, and although the trim and tee aren’t as big of a contrast as I thought they were going to be (and as I would like), it’s still a fun little tee.  For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

Oh, and I’m a huge fan of these camo sandals from Walmart.  I like them better than real Birks if we’re being honest.  There a little more narrow, and I prefer that.  They only come in whole sizes, so I sized up a 1/2 to a 7.

VERDICT:  I’m returning the tee, even though it’s a good little tee. It comes in tons of colors if you want to check it out.  I’ve had the sandals for a couple of months now and LOVE them.

Okay, I’ve got one more item today in the KEEP or RETURN segment of the post.

I was so excited about these sandals when I saw them online.  I was even more excited when I pulled them out of the box after they arrived.  I put them on and loved them. AND THEN I TOOK A STEP.

Ladies, do not be fooled by the cuteness of these sandals.

Unless you want to sound like you are tooting with every single step you take.

FOR REAL.

Air somehow would get trapped between my foot and the sandal, and it sounded like I was tooting with each step.  Consider this a public service announcement.

Verdict:  RETURN.  #excuseme

Let’s start with the color.  It’s a gorgeous and vibrant red.  We all know that there are lots of different shades of red, but this is a true red (without any orange undertones).  It’s fully lined and looks much more expensive than it is.

The bracelet combines just about every color under the rainbow, and I really love it paired with the red.

The rattan bag is well made, sturdy, and adorable.  The little tassel is removable, and there are pom poms on both sides.
