Today’s post is sponsored by Walmart. The product selections are my own, and I only highlight and promote pieces that I truly love. Thank you for supporting the brands that support Sheaffer Told Me To!
Do you have any snakeskin in your closet right now? It’s a trend that started slithering (#seewhatididthere) on to the fashion scene 2-3 years ago, and now it’s everywhere. And it’s here to stay.
I was kind of slow to warm up to it, but I’ve now officially decided that I love it.
Just like our beloved leopard print, snakeskin should also be considered a neutral. A really fun, really sassy, and edgy neutral. And in addition to being fun, sassy, and edgy…it also manages to be chic. Which is impressive. AND I’M HERE FOR IT.
I’ve always admired the print and thought it was cool, but I’ve never owned any… until now.
If you’re a snakeskin newbie like me, I think the easiest way to introduce it into our wardrobes and ease into the trend is with accessories. I mean, a bag is much easier to try out than a pair of snakeskin pants. Although, I’m going to be honest, I now have a pair of snakeskin pants on the way to me. I mean, it might have taken me a bit to warm up to the trend, but now I’m ALL IN.
Today I’m highlighting a snakeskin cross body bag and a pair of snakeskin booties. I love both pieces, and they are both are an excellent way to try out the trend without spending a lot of money.
Because get this, they are both under $20.
To show you that the snakeskin pieces can be styled several ways, I’ve got 5 outfits for you today!
OUTFIT #1: CASUAL WITH SNEAKERS AND SNAKESKIN
For this first outfit, I took the snakeskin bag (the easiest of the pieces to style) and simply paired it with a black sweater, boyfriend jeans, and sneakers!
It’s a super casual and fun look for running around town.

We’ll get to the snakeskin in just a second, but I want to make sure you take notice of this slouchy turtleneck sweater . It’s soft, it’s perfectly over sized, it’s well priced at under $30, and it’s definitely long enough to wear with leggings. And as you can see here, it’s also not too thick to do a half tuck with jeans. I love that the turtleneck itself is relaxed (I can’t stand a too tight neck), and the detail of the wide ribbing on the sleeves and the hem is a nice design touch.
I’m wearing a small, and it’s still over sized, so I would suggest sizing down if you don’t want it tunic length and if you aren’t going to be wearing it with leggings.

Okay, the bag.
Y’all. It’s so soooooooooooooooooooooo good.
It has an adjustable strap, a faux leather tassel, a snap front closure, and grommet detail along the front. On the inside there’s a zipper pocket and a pouch big enough for your cell phone. The size is good for your wallet, your makeup essentials, and your phone. And the snakeskin pattern is FABULOUS. Just like I’m picky about leopard patterns, I’ve found that I’m picky about snakeskin patterns too. If you still aren’t sure about snakeskin, you should check out the bag in one of the other available color options. THE BAG IS GOOD.
The sneakers (size down a 1/2) are under $18 and are a really fun alternative to the $500 designer sneakers that everybody is talking about right now. I love the designer option, and I’ve even considered saving up to get some myself, but my gosh these are giving me all the bells and whistles without the price tag! I’ll also be wearing these sneaks with leggings and sweatshirts. Really cute!
snakeskin bag / jeans/ sneakers
These boyfriend jeans have the look and fit of a designer pair of jeans, but they are UNDER $28. You saw them for the first time in this post, and I’ve been wearing the heck out of them! (You clan click HERE to see them styled with a white tee and the $10 camo sneakers that are BACK IN STOCK, and you can click HERE to see them styled with a leopard print dolman sleeved tunic.)
These jeans are soft, have a reasonable amount of stretch, and are totally on trend with the slouchy fit and the distressing. I’m wearing my regular size 4s.

OUTFIT #2: ALL BLACK WITH SNAKESKIN
Pairing snakeskin with all black is a totally chic outfit idea. And I’m nothing if not totally chic. (I actually laughed out loud when I typed that, but I sometimes do like to pretend that I’m chic.)
slouchy turtleneck sweater / earrings / snake skin bag / similar black jeans / studded mules
I feel very New York in this outfit. I don’t wear all black often, but it just works with the bag!

These stylish studded mules pair perfectly with the snakeskin. They are comfy, super fashionable, and the studs are understated (but still make a statement). True to size.

And I really can’t recommend this slouchy turtleneck enough. In fact, you’ll see that I’m about to recommend it in hot pink as well.

OUTFIT #3: HOT PINK AND SNAKESKIN BOOTIES
The sweater is so nice, I bought it twice.
slouchy turtleneck sweater / earrings / black hobo bag / distressed skinny jeans/ snakeskin booties
I absolutely adore this bright and vibrant hot pink!
For Outfit #3, I gave the snakeskin bag a rest and pulled out this black studded hobo.

Since I was giving the bag a rest, I broke out the snakeskin booties!
These are some high style booties, y’all!
The pattern is great, and they are somewhere between a rounded and a pointed too, which I like. The stacked heel is a good medium height, and the zippered sides make them easy to get on and off. I have no idea what they are actually made out of, but they look awesome. ESPECIALLY for the price of just under $20.
black hobo bag / distressed skinny jeans/ snakeskin booties
These distressed skinny jeans are stretchy, comfy, and an incredible value at $22.50. I’m wearing my regular 4s, but I would suggest sizing up if between sizes.

OUTFIT #4: HOT PINK WITH A SNAKESKIN BAG
The hot pink with the snakeskin is a really dynamic combination. For outfit #4, I kept on the same sweater and the same jeans, but I went back to the snakeskin bag and traded out the snakeskin booties for the studded mules.
I hope you’re seeing how versatile all of these pieces are!

I really love the snakeskin right up against the bold pink.

OUTFIT #5: DOUBLE DOWN WITH SNAKESKIN
Ladies.
I saved the best for last.
slouchy turtleneck sweater / earrings / snake skin bag / similar black jeans /snakeskin booties
If you’d asked me last week if I would wear a snakeskin bag and a pair of snakeskin shoes at the same time, I would have said no. I mean, I’ve never done it with leopard before, and I would have thought the same school of thought would apply to snakeskin. I would have explained that less is more, and my advice would have been to not double down on the pattern.
HOWEVER.
When I put this outfit together, IT JUST WORKED.
I’m not sure the same idea would work had I been wearing the black sweater, but the hot pink sweater really stands up against the snakeskin accessories!

Who knew I was going to be such a fan of doubling down? I’m glad I took this fashion “risk”, because I think it looks awesome together and I felt great in this outfit!

Loveeee the pink one!!!
As a new reader, would you mind doing a post with a bit more information about yourself, where you are coming from, what you did before blogging etc? I would love to get to know you, as a person, better. I love your style so can only imagine what a beautiful person you are on the inside.
But with that said… may we challenge you to do one post with any links at all? Just a post with words about yourself, who you are and what you stand for? Tips and tricks you learned over the years. Perhaps a new series called “Sheaffer told Sheaffer”? but… no links, thats the challenge.

The pink sweater and black jeans … holy moly, you are ROCKING it! I have a pair of heeled snakeskin mules on the way from DSW’s warehouse sale, and I think the pink sweater is about to be on its way to my door, too! Thanks for keeping us on budget and on trend!!

Thank you for introducing me to Time and Tru at Walmart. After reading a few bloggers post about Walmart, I specifically went to Walmart for my household basics (not my usual retailer) so that I could also check out the clothing. I was VERY pleasantly surprised and now seek it out. My only problem is that my areas Walmarts have VERY FEW or NO smalls! Ha Ha. Hey Walmart…Not all of us in your aisles are XXL! Truth be told, I like the Time and Tru products enough I will actually go on line to look at this brand specifically now.

Hi, Andrea! Yes, the brand is really REALLY great! Glad you are having some luck too! xoxo
