It’s My Birthday Week!!! Favorite #3

It’s the 3rd day of the Birthday Extravaganza…..and today (August 14th) is the actual birthday!
Cue the party horns!

Yes! 
Yes it is!
It’s the blog’s birthday, but one of you is going to get the gift!
Not a bad deal.   🙂

In addition to the giveaway, to celebrate Pinterest Told Me To turning 1,
I’m highlighting my 5 ABSOLUTE FAVORITES over the last 12 months.

Actually, it’s 2 particular posts I loved.  Yep, there is a tie for Favorite #3.
I loved them both so much because I loved the fact that YOU guys were active participants!

To say I was overwhelmed by your response to the Pinterest Told Me To told me to contest would be the understatement of the year. 
It would be like saying, “Lindsay Lohan needs a positive role model.”
See?  Understatement. 
(Cassie – that one was for you.)  😉

In short,
Y’all. Were. Awesome.
Not only did I get lots and lots AND LOTS of  really cute pictures from you guys,  I also received super sweet e-mails that I appreciated more than you will ever know.

I learned two things from doing that contest.
1)
Apparently I’m way bossier than I thought.
Like WAY bossier.
(And to be clear, I already knew I was bossy.)
You girls have added tons of stuff that I’ve highlighted on the blog to your own closets,
and you put together some really great outfits!
 2)
I have some good looking readers ifIdosaysomyself.
You guys are seriously cute!

It was a blast seeing how all of you are using this blog to influence what you wear and what you buy!
And what I’m most happy about is how much you have LOVED the products and clothing items
you have purchased!  All of your sweet messages let me know that you now love these things as much as I do!

There were over 300 pictures and lots of e-mails in the original post (click HERE if you want to see ALL of the pictures and e-mails), but today I’m just going to highlight a handful of the pictures.
 

HERE WE GO!…..
Let’s take a walk down memory lane and see what Pinterest Told Me To told YOU ladies to do during the 1st six months of the blog…..

After sorting through all of the 300 entries, 10 clear favorites emerged.

There were certain items that were sent to me over and over
again.
So, I compiled a Top 10 list that was originally posted March 15th.
In the interest of time, today I’m going to talk about 5 out of the top 10
These appear in no particular order. 🙂
1)  Michael Kors Big Statement Watches
 Most of you said exactly what I’ve said about my watch.
You were hesitant to spend the money on it, but now you are so glad you did!
Isn’t it amazing how one of these big chunky watches can spiff up any outfit?

2)  Leopard Shoes.
WOW.
You guys must have been listening every time I preached about the
importance of a leopard shoe in your wardrobe.  You all jumped on the
“they are sassy but in a strange way a neutral” bandwagon and bought
LOTS and LOTS of leopard flats!  I wear mine constantly, and all of you are too.
I’ve tried on the pointy ones.  They were super comfy and very affordable as are The TOMS.  My friend got the UGGs and is totally in love with them.

3)  SCARVES.

I should have bought up some scarf stock before starting this blog.  Not
only have I started buying scarves like a crazy person, but so have
y’all.  I think we all now know the power of a good scarf!

When this contest appeared on the blog back on July 2nd, I had only officially named
 2 MUST HAVE items.
So, all of your entries were for the Callisto wedges and the Kut from the Kloth denim jacket.

People continue to buy these wedges and continue to be AMAZED 
at how light and comfy they are.
I mean come on people!!!!!!  You’ve got to trust me!  😉
My favorite is still the Putty color.

The other MUST HAVE that had been named when the contest went on was the 
MUST HAVE denim jacket.
The second I found this jacket I fell in love with it.  It was about an hour later that I came up with the “MUST HAVE” term and called my friend Andrea to create a graphic for it.

It’s one of my favorite posts I have ever written because you can literally feel my excitement when reading it!  You could totally tell I was CRAZY about this jacket.

I absolutely LOVE naming items MUST HAVES now, and I love the excitement that it creates.
(Monday I will review all 4 MUST HAVE items thus far.)
There are only 2 sizes left of this jacket at Nordstrom (L and XL).
Most people feel that this jacket runs small (especially in the upper arms), so maybe a L or XL would work for you!  For size reference, mine is a small.

The fit and the color are nothing short of perfection, and we all FELL HARD ladies.

My summer would have been so drab without those putty wedges and this fall, I would be so sad without my new denim jacket.     I have the jeans jacket in a large even though I usually wear a medium. I would suggest ordering up if you want to wear anything very bulky under it or are a "woman of a certain age" and want a roomier fit. I really like it and have worn it several times, even though it is summer!

    The jacket and the wedges are the most prized items in my closet. I get countless compliments on both of them every time I wear them, and I wear them all the time.     I did a medium in the jacket….I am usually an 8. It is perfection.

    Sheaffer, I bought the FP military jacket. I may or may not have told my husband. Wasn't in stock in our Nordstrom, but the Free People store right next to it had it . It is so freakin' cute. I literally COULD NOT LEAVE IT in the store. It is a huge splurge. I had a $50 visa gift card from my birthday, so justified the purchase that way. 🙂

    I've been a hold out on the leopard flats. OMG. You are going to make me take the leap, aren't you???!!! (btw, for all the non-jean jacket owners, YES it's the BEST jean jacket ever. I live in Houston (aka Hell on Earth in August) and it's lightweight and comfortable enough to wear here even in 150 percent humidity. And I know it will be a great transition piece for fall.     I am one of the unfortunate ones that lives 2 hours from a Nordstrom! I never really shopped there until your blog. I was in Indianapolis this past weekend celebrating my 30th wedding anniversary (!) and hit up the Nordstrom to try out some of your suggestions..one being those putty wedges…. loved the way they looked but they were higher heeled than I usually wear so I didn't jump on them right away…I was a doubter!

    Well, I tried them on and OH MY WORD! My feet are on pillows! They don't feel that high at all. I bought them right there and then! I wore them all day the next day and my feet felt great! I couldn't believe it. I really need to pay attention to what you say!

    So happy to have found your blog. My credit card and husband, Not. So. Much. I have THE jean jacket, which is as great as you say it is. Since finding your blog, I have purchased 4 jean jackets, a military jacket and vest, 2 pairs of leopard flats, 3 pairs of Toms, 1 pair of brown boots, several pairs of skinny jeans, and several other things you have had on your blog. I have also started doing a lot more online shopping. I had never shopped at Nordstrom or J Crew Factory before…love how easy it is to try things and return with Nordstrom.     I was skeptical about ordering the must have wedges, as I never wear shoes that high and worried I would fall or twist an ankle in them, but since Sheaffer and everyone else kept talking about them, and Nordstrom has free shipping and free returns, I figured it couldn't hurt to order them and try. OH MY GOSH! I'm so glad I did! They are amazing, wonderful, light, comfy, and not at all too high for me. I ordered the putty and then went back and ordered the black ones as well. I have worn them at least once a week this whole summer! Do yourself a favor, trust Sheaffer, and try these wedges!!!!

    First – please forgive me for being soooo late to the Callisto Wedge party! I was in Nordstroms last Friday looking at the Hunter boots (probably my next purchase – just trying to decide on color), and I saw the wedges. I thought I would try them on just for fun – never thinking I would buy them. My hesitation was the height. I love heels but my husband is only 4 inches taller than me and I just don't like being taller than him. You must also know in recent months, I have had to convert to wearing all wedges because flats were causing me alot of problems – heel spurs, plantar fascitis, etc. Anyway, I put the wedges on and it was like walking on marshmellows! They are by far the most comfortable wedges I have ever owned! Love them! Before I knew it I was walking out of the store with the black pair. I have worn them 3 out of the past 5 days! AND – I am the same height as my husband so its all good! Thank you!!

    I'm not a wedge person at all but I bought them anyway and I love them!!! They are comfortable and really do match everything. I also bought the denim jacket and love it as well!!     LOVE those Michael Kors watches! I already have one in rose gold, but now I REALLY want one with a chain bracelet. Also, I recently purchased a denim jacket…but is it bad that I got it from the little girl's section at Target? I couldn't resist, it was so cute AND it was only $20!

    I wanted to leave my comment in hopes that others will give the blog a chance. At first their was so much information to read and so much to look at by far the most detailed blog I follow. But in the end it works because you are able to see everything put together not just an outfit to look at. You are always giving readers the best advice and the best place to find items. I love this section where you put all the loved things over the last year. I always wanted the Michael Kors watch and this past Nordstrom Sale (Womans) I purchased however I bought the BP gold one and get comments on that as well. I purchased the leopard Toms I am a fanatic I buy at least 3 every three months. Thanks for being you and creating the blog for all of us.

    I purchased the must have jacket after seeing all of the pictures from the contest, and I'm in LOVE! It's so hot here in Alabama, but I still keep this jacket on hand for chilly restaurants and the movie theater (always freezing). I'm actually thinking about ordering the regular blue denim one, as well. I can't wait to what you find next!

    Loving your birthday week posts! I have the must have wedges and the denim jacket (and vigoss jeans and must have shirt in 3 colors – out of control) and I love them all!! There are about 100 other things you have recommended that I want to buy but I'll have to space out those purchases as I don't want the husband to have a heart attack!:)

    My denim jacket is a staple with my ever-growing baby bump. Even in hot summer weather I can just roll of the sleeves (so my seemingly ever-growing arms are still hidden) and can still stay cool.

    I am still so mad at myself – I took all of my pictures for your Pinterest Told Me To contest, and then life happened and my little boy got the flu, and there went that!!
