As is often the case with my Friday Favorites posts, there is a whole lot of random in today’s post….but good news for you….it’s also a whole lot of awesome. 😉
*
On Tuesday I met my friend’s Jamie (middle) and Jenn (right) at Sugarbacon for lunch.
And we were there for 2 hours.
And we laughed really REALLY hard for like 1 hour and 45 minutes of that time. 🙂
In case you need background on them: Jenn is a blog reader turned real life friend. She’s a speech therapist too, and last year she reached out to me to see if I could come hang out one day during lunch with her co-workers at a middle school (because several of them read the blog).
I did…we totally hit it off….and the rest is history!
If you remember, it was Jenn who went with me to try to sweet talk Chris Harrison for Men Tell All tickets. Click HERE for that post.
Jamie’s been on the blog too. Jamie is Jenn’s sister, but she’s also one of Melanie Shankle‘s besties. So if Jamie looks familiar, it’s because she was on the blog earlier this year when Mel came to Dallas for a book signing. Click HERE for that post.
Top Right Picture: Maddie (Jenn’s daughter), Jamie, Melanie, me, Jenn, and Jen
If you read Melanie’s blog (or have read Nobody’s Cuter Than You), you know that Jen (in the white) has cancer and that she’s in the fight of her life right now. Jen has her own blog where she writes about her battle, and her words are beautiful. And her faith is like nothing you’ve ever seen. She has some very specific prayer requests right now, and she needs some prayer warriors. Her latest requests are at the end of her latest blog post, and right now she needs prayers for herself along with her sweet husband and precious 4 year old boy. I’ve only met Jen on one occasion, but I can tell you that she’s sweet and hysterical and MORE FUN than you can even imagine. We’ve found out since meeting that we have several mutual friends from different bible studies she’s lead or been in, and every single person I’ve talked to just adores her. I’m just proud to know her.
And I’m committed to praying for her.
There is one about motherhood (Sparkly Green Earrings), one about marriage (The Antelope In The Living Room), and one about girlfriends (Nobody’s Cuter Than You). You need to read all 3 of them yourself for sure, but they also make great Christmas presents! I’m telling you, you will bust a gut from laughing, you will find yourself nodding yes in agreement, and you will probably tear up (or straight up bawl) a couple of times as well.
As a rule I do not read (I know, my parents and all of my former teachers are so proud), but I read all 3 of Melanie’s books and LOVED them. I seriously haven’t read that many books since college.
It’s awful, but it’s true, and her books are just that good. 🙂
It’s soft, it’s a great length, and I feel like it could be the blardigan’s cousin.
For size reference, I’m wearing a small….but I tried on an x-small afterwards, and I liked the fit of it even better. Just a personal preference.
And look at the FANTASTIC reviews!!!!
cardi / similar jeans on sale (but moredistressed) / cami / booties / earrings / necklace
Here are a couple of facebook comments I got on it yesterday:
Got the sweater in black during the anniversary sale and I love it! I’m usually a medium, but I got the small. I still could have easily done the medium, I just preferred the smaller sleeves of the small. – Jennifer
I have the sweater in black too and it’s wonderful!! I could wear it 24/7. So comfy. Also I hand wash in the machine and lay flat to dry. After 5-6 washes it’s still in great shape. – Leah
The booties I’m wearing above are sold out, but I’m loving this taupe wedge pair that is ON SALE!

Actually, that’s not entirely true.
But the original blardigan now comes in 2 new colors!
I got this message earlier this week:
Last year two of my friends and I said there would be nothing dreamier than a purple ombré blardigan and ohmygoodness look what is new!!!!!!!
Given that I now own 5….don’t judge, I’m not sure I can own this but I’m dying …. Wheels turning and wondering if I could sell one on eBay and then justify adding this one lol!

new ombre blardigans HERE / cable knit drape front cardigan HERE
The purple ombre (and other colors) also comes in plus size HERE.
I haven’t seen the cable knit version in person, but I thought you die hard blardigan peeps would want to know about them!

Soooooo many of you have sent me THIS video in the last week.
This lady from Tennessee named Jamie posted a video on her facebook page about how Leggings Aren’t Pants, and it went viral.
Because SHE IS HYSTERICAL.
I tracked down her facebook page and messaged her letting her know that we share the same passion for educatng the masses on the fact that ladies need to cover their crotchal areas.
So far, crickets.
But I’ll keep you posted on if she ever writes me back.
I’m imagining she’s had several messages seeing that her video has now been seen by over 14 million people!!!!!!
The shoreline converse come like this.
AND GUESS WHAT?
I’m wearing my new Nike no-show socks (recommended by a reader)!
I wish they were a little more cushiony (they are very thin), but they don’t show and they do stay put! So, I’m thinking 2 out of 3 ain’t bad!!!
Here’s just 1 time I wore them this week!
THIS TEE IS ONLY $15 RIGHT NOW!!!!
LOFT 3/4 swingy tee / earrings / watch / similar jeans /
shoreline converse / necklace not available

I’m actually not really a coat person (I know, it’s weird), but I did find some to send on to the reader that I thought I would share with y’all too!
First, I sent her over to Old Navy. I feel like Old Navy does a great job with outerwear (that doesn’t break the bank) and they’ve got some really cute options right now!
I would recommend just hopping over HERE to see their entire selection of women’s coats!
a. puffer jacket with fur hood / b. plaid puffer vest / c. pea coat
So I ordered THIS one for myself, because even though I’m not a coat person, it spoke to me.
It’s DARLING.
I think it’s a really cute fit, the tie stays tied and really cinches in your waist if you want it to.
Only drawback? NO POCKETS.
WHAT?
Who are these people that think we don’t need pockets in a coat?
Still, the coat is SO DANG CUTE that you might be able to overlook the lack of pockets.
And it’s ONLY $82!
For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
I think it’s a good weight for those of us that aren’t up North with really cold winters.
And seriously, isn’t it just darling?
I’m not keeping it for myself, but I knew some of you would want to see it and consider it for yourselves!
Here’s a close up.
This next one is more of a jacket.
A buffalo check moto jacket.
I know.
I wouldn’t say it’s any warmer than a military jacket would be, but I don’t think I care.
buffalo check moto jacket / dark grey shirred back tee / AG stilt jeans (one pair 40% OFF HERE) / grey buckle booties / earrings
You can wear it like this (not snapped up)…
Or you can snap it up and wear it like this.
It has “leather” piping (darling), pockets (woohoo!), and cute little zipper detailing on the sleeves and pockets!
Again, I’m wearing a medium.
Get The Look For Yourself Here:
I’ve also had a lot of requests for military vests lately. For some reason, I’ve never found one that I’ve loved for myself. I love them on other people, but I just don’t think they look good on me!
But I saw THIS one online yesterday, and my interest is definitely kicked up.
Reviews are great, but says it runs big and suggests to size down 1 size.

While we are still on jackets.
You know I’m a big fan of Joanna Gaines.
#aren’tweall
I ADORE her style and think this picture is a great representation of her “look”
Totally casual and laid back…BUT DARLING.
Isn’t that how all of us want to look all the time?

I was dying over her leather jacket, and I found 2 on sale that would definitely work for her look.
THIS leather jacket is yummy. Even at 50% OFF it’s expensive, but it’s GORGEOUS.

I’m adding this late Friday night!
So our Friday night consisted of a playdate for the little fella, chinese food, and chilling on the couch watching a little Shark Tank! While working on a couple of things for next week, I saw that the boyfriend cardigan I just got is now ONLY $20! It comes in 6 colors. I sized down and got an x-small here (but the arms are super fitted), so I would actually just recommend buying your regular size.
THE CARDIGAN IS ONLY $20!!!!!

That video!! Oh, I hope she messages you back. You two would be great at a podcast or something!! And why are you sending that red/black coat back?!!!
Narci says
Oh my goodness!! So many great things to check out today!! Loving those jackets!!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Two things…those buffalo check jackets…be still my heart! Oh my goodness! I couldn't love anything more! And then secondly, I just read Jen's post and cried all the way through it. How amazing is God? That he can give her such a peace and understanding during such a hard time. Praying for Scott and Lincoln right now.

Will totally be checking out those old Navy coats…I have some super cash to spend this weekend!! Can't wait for Five days of Fabulous! Have a great weekend!!

The jeweler we got our wedding rings from had something similar to the Bling Brush about a year ago. It wasn't really worth it, IMO. I thought that my rings looked much better just soaking them for a bit in really hot water with a drop of dish soap, then rinsing….OR having them cleaned at the jeweler.

The first coat where you say there are no pockets, on the website it looks like there are slit pockets not on the side but closer to the front. At least on the right side.
Casey says
And the description says it has front pockets. I hope it does because I love this coat. But I must have pockets! Ha!
Bethanne says
I just received the Thread & Supply peacoat in the mail from Nordstroms in Oxblood and LOVE! The best part is it's 35% off making it $37!!! They come in other colors too!
Kathy Lang says
I have those Ivanka Trump grey buckle booties and love them! The buffalo check moto jacket is adorable!
April Parrish says
I'm seriously dying over that Dex Buffalo Check Jacket….I need it ASAP. Gap had one similar last year and I didn't buy it and it sold out and it worried me some kind of bad all winter. What's your opinion of the quality of the jacket…will you be keeping it?????
That video is hilarious—I almost sent it to you as well. So funny that so many ladies thought of you!!
Have a blessed weekend!
Sheaffer says
Hey April! The material isn't thick, and only the back is lined (the front cannot be lined because of how it drapes), but I think it's good quality for what it is and how much it costs. I think it's going to be so cute paired with leopard! Hope this helps! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Sabrina says
I want that buffalo check jacket!!!! I'm afraid that a large might be too small 🙁 Dang!!!! It is everything I love in one coat lol!!!!

My closet is overflowing with red buffalo plaid items but that moto jacket – swoon!!!!! #musthave #toomuchbuffaloplaid #loveit

I had written to Shae about the no show socks and she didn't have a suggestion either. However, I found Hue microfiber no show socks at Belks and they are great. I needed them to wear with flats. They have a silicone pad in the back that keep it on my foot. Have had lots of trouble with other brands not staying on.

So excited for the five fabulous days!! You gals have given me so many fabulous outfits all year, so I'm sure whatever is on this list will be just as fabulous!!! 🙂

Hello! Long time reader, few time commenter. Love, love, love your blog! Q about the Converse Shoreline…I bought my true size (8.5) and they fit but feel a tiny bit snug, I'm worried the 9 will be too big…any thoughts on this? Thanks! xo
Sheaffer says
Hi Lisa! Hmmmmm…..I'm too lazy to get off the couch right now…but mine are either my regular size (or maybe even a 1/2 size smaller). Have you worn them around the house yet? Try that and see if they stretch out a bit. I'm afraid the 9 will be too big. Hope this helps! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Jodi says
I bought mine several months ago and ordered a 7 1/2, my normal size, and they were way too tight. Exchanged them for an 8 and perfect! I think it depends on how thick your socks are or if you will wear them with no socks. I have 3 other pairs of converse and I did have to go up a half size in these compared to my norm.
{Hi Sugarplum!} says
That's a lot of great favorites right there!! and you know I love a good military vest…and I've tried that one on…to say it runs big would be an understatement. It runs at least 2 sizes big…but it's a really really good one!!!
Michelle N. says
So the very day you posted about the Nike no show socks I was wearing no show socks that kept sliding off my heel. I made a trip into town (15 miles ) under the pretense of needing to go to the grocery store but actually went to JCPenney to buy them, Love! Once again, thanks for the great tip!
Kara says
I have that military vest. I decided to order it because I thought it was NEVER going to cool off enough to wear an actual military jacket (I live in McKinney too and those 90'+ days earlier this month were killing my fall vibes). I've been happy with it, though I found it pretty true to size
krazgrl says
HA! Love the leggin lady, that made my day. :o) Just bought the buffalo check moto jacket AND the black dress. Partialy because I'm week and partially because everything I've bought on your recommendation has been steller! I've never purchased from Nordstrom before I started following your blog and I have to say I'm in love. Just bought the Sam Eddelman boots and when they came there was a tiny snaffu with the zipper. I called Nordstrom and they had a new pair on my door step THE NEXT MORNING! Who does that these days?
Sarah N says
That new fuchsia ombre blardigan HAS to come to my closet ASAP. I picked up my first one during the anniversary sale, and it has gotten a lot of wear so far!
Shelley says
Joanna Gaines is so cute! Did you you see this link that HGTV posted about her style earlier this week on FB? http://www.hgtv.com/design-blog/shows/5-outfits-we-adore-from–fixer-upper–host-joanna-gaines.
Heather Piche says
I have the green military vest & it is adorable! I ordered my normal size in Pleione & while it is slightly big I think it gives you options to layer over sweaters or long sleeve shirts. I personally love it with my Free People tees, goes great with all colors!
Loving your blog! And love your style 🙂
Cheers – Heather

I love that "Gather" doormat, I recently saw it on another blog & fell in love. I need to go see if my Target has it 🙂
