Today I’m linking up a whole lot of randomness (but super fun randomness) with my sweet friends Andrea, Erika and Narci for their Friday Favorites link up!
Sit back,
don’t waste your time trying to find a common thread,
and just enjoy! 🙂
***
I ran to Target on Tuesday to get drawer inserts and dish towels for the new house.
And I did get those things.
But I also walked out with several other things, including 2 things of Essie polish.
Because it’s Target.
And I had to have some fall polish.
(Oh, and I’ve received several questions about my ring because you see
me with two different rings on. In this picture I’m wearing my wedding
band, but I’m wearing it with the ring I got for our five year
anniversary. It’s supposed to be a right hand ring, but my engagement
ring is a smaller ring size, and when it’s hot outside my fingers swell
and the ring is too tight. Since we were going to the fun run at
Carter’s school, I knew I needed the ring that was bigger around, so
this baby got put on. I actually wear it a lot, even though it doesn’t
really match my band.)

When I was shopping awhile ago, I found THIS shirt, and then I forgot about it during the move.
It reminded me A LOT of the MUST HAVE SHIRT, but it had great color choices (loved this yellow, but also like the grey and the blue)….and it didn’t seem to wrinkle!
For size reference, I’m wearing a small.
I loved it with my distressed jeans and my converse, but this top would also be perfect for ladies with office jobs. It would
be great with a pencil skirt or a pair of suit pants and a pair of heels!
I think this
yellow color would be pretty with black or grey!
Here are the other colors:
Click HERE for the rock around cushion bracelet.
Click HERE for the gold spiky bracelet.
The leather wrap bracelet is sold out, but there is a similar one HERE (I have this one in cranberry from Miss TB and absolutely adore it).

My friend Jeni posted THIS blog post on her facebook wall this week.
It’s all about how a mama handled a kid being mean to her kid.
(You might have already seen it because it’s definitely been making the rounds.)
There
is some controversy in internet land about whether this mama handled
the situation correctly or not when she went up and said something to
the child when he was being mean to her kid.
I see both sides.
HOWEVER.
What
I needed to hear and what spoke to my heart was what she said to her
own son at the breakfast table the next morning. It’s a great read. And as a mama, it’s
something I know I will be going through, probably sooner rather than
later.
I hope I remember the messages she instilled and can help my little guy the way she helped hers.
Anyway, click HERE for some good solid advice that this mama handed out at the breakfast table.
Let me first say that nobody is more surprised than me, but I’ve
got MORE OLD NAVY LOVE today.
Y’all.
I went shopping at Old Navy only because it was the most voted by you guys for Reader’s Choice in September.
And I’m afraid I might be hooked.
Do I love everything I try on? No. But that can be said for all stores.
Do I love some things? Yes, Ma’m.
And this flannel?
Well, I want to marry it it.
And I’m going to let you in on a little secret.
I’m not wearing any pants in the above picture.
For shame.
#iwentallriskybusinessonyou
It was late at night when I opened the package, and I just had to try it on and take a quick pic.
But in all seriousness, the shirt is greatness.
In fact, let’s take another moment to admire the same flannel from a couple of weeks ago in the red pattern (that is now available again).
Well played Old Navy, well played.
black tweed puffer vest HERE (sold out), but other black puffer HERE /
plaid shirt HERE
abalone earrings HERE, sanibel pendant HERE, similar jeans (just darker wash) HERE, and click HERE for a similar pair of jeans from Old Navy / Pillar Box red Hunter boots HERE
GIRLS.
With this sale, I’m thinking both will sell out again over the weekend.
And I love it in the blue just as much as I do the red, and I didn’t think that was possible!
In fact, I’m cooking up an outfit in my head for next week where I pair the blue flannel with leopard!
In my head it’s DARLING :), so cross your fingers and stay tuned.
Click HERE to head straight to Old Navy.
And fyi: the pixie pants are still $25 and perfect for the office.

So do you ladies remember me posting this next outfit inspiration board several weeks ago?
tunic HERE, ultra wide waistband MUST HAVE leggings HERE, cognac knee high boots HERE
Well, I ordered the tunic even though it was on back order and it arrived this week (ahead of schedule!).
AND Y’ALL!
When I first posted the above collage, I posed the following question:
I mean, really. How cute would we all be wearing this outfit?
There is no denying the greatness.
ultra wide waistband MUST HAVE leggings HERE, Frye boots HERE,
Kimberly necklace HERE, abalone earring c/o Kendra Scott HERE
For size reference, I’m wearing a small in the tunic.
Also, the reviews talk about how the lace on the sleeves is tight, and I would agree.
I happen to like the sleeves tight, because I feel like it helps it not look sloppy.
However, if you have a large forearm, you might not like these sleeves. Just fyi.
tunic HERE
It now says it isn’t supposed to ship until November 19th, but I’m hoping it might be earlier than that!
And I don’t want y’all to miss this, because I’m guessing it will be sold out soon.
It’s only available online, so keep that in mind.
For size reference, I’m wearing a small.
The little guy is playing on a t-ball team this year, and he’s the most precious baseball player I ever did see.
The first game of the season was H.O.T.
My friend Laura snapped this pic of him, and my mama’s heart melted when I saw it.
The cuteness is just about too much for me to handle.
Please stay this size forever.

Some of my favorites:
Has anybody seen or does anybody have THIS RUFFLEBACK ANORAK?
Because it’s an anorak.
AND it has rufffles.
I’ve talked about THIS SERAPHINA BLOUSE before.
It was normally $189 (WHAT THE HECK?), but now it’s 25% off of $89.
Now we’re talking.

Some of my favs:
THIS top is on it’s way to me and will be in an upcoming post! Imagine it with dark skinny jeans and GORGEOUS heeled cognac tall boots! It would also could be gorgeous dressed up.
THIS is a great dark brown bootie. Love the buckle and the heel, and it also comes in black.
Still don’t have a military jacket? Well, HERE is a great one with phenomenal reviews!

When I checked my friend Narci’s blog this morning, I totally laughed out loud…
Here’s what it said…
Well, I’m not a genius.
I simply put it on when a GENIUS SALES LADY (Hi Vanessa!) told me to “put THIS on”.
I was just smart enough to know perfection when I had it on my body. 😉
(I get e-mails alllllll the time from mamas who say their babies have stolen their blardigans! Hilarious!)

Mix and Match Mama says
Listen, I was going to go on and on and on about the yellow shirt until I saw the flannel one (and then I decided to gush over that)…until I saw the picture of Carter (and then I decided to gush over him). Can they please stay six forever? Please???? And go ahead and mark your calendar for next week…C is coming to play with Smith one day after school. He misses him so much! Finally, thanks for sharing my monkey bread recipe! Love you friend! See you at lunch :).
Narci says
Listen, Prelsey is serious about her Blardigan love! Hahaha! I love that yellow shirt and the flannel!! So fun! See you at lunch, friend!!! Love you!!
Tab & Erika says
I loved all the randomness this morning!!! That picture of Carter is my fave. So sweet!!
Kristin says
Love me a good Loft Flash Sale!!! Is it wrong that I have earned close to $50 this month alone on my Loft card from all the great sales on the new Fall Styles? Don't tell my husband 😉
TALL GIRL ALERT! The military jacket you linked also comes in tall (but find it in the tall jackets & outerwear tab). I have it and it's fab! True to Loft sizing.
Kathy Olson says
You look beautiful in that tunic and leggings! Also, in that photo with the bracelets, I spy the cutest pillows ever! I hope you do show your house soon.

Love that lace tunic….it's so darn cute! Love the cute pic of Carter too and good luck keeping him six forever, I tried with mine and it didn't work cuz he is turning 30 this year and has 2 babes of his own!!
Happy Friday!

Just wanted to let you know that based on all of the raving around here over the Pixie pants, I took the plunge and ordered them in black and clay color….love, love, love them in black (still trying to decide about the clay color) But the black ones are fabulous! Based on the recommendations, I sized up one and that seems to be a good decision. They did stretch out a bit after I wore them to work yesterday, but not a bad stretch out, just a little more give to them. I'm 5'4" and I was able to order the regular, they were the perfect length. Thanks for pushing the Pixie Pants!!
Briana Rider says
Love the anorak! Now should I buy it?
Heather says
Looks like the lace tunic is already sold out ?
Sheaffer says
Hi Heather! It's not sold out. It's just on backorder! But I'm pretty sure it will sell out soon!!!!!
xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂
Lisa says
Thank you so much for posting the link to the 'mean kid' story – I really needed that today! My 5th grade son came home from school the other day and said a boy pushed him hard from behind and then laughed at him. It broke my heart and I so badly wanted to go find the boy and take care of it myself. I wasn't sure what to tell my son but this story was exactly what I needed! The world is full of mean people but it is great to get perspective on how others handle situations like that. Love your blog!! Thanks!!
Sheaffer says
Hi Lisa! I'm so sorry that you and your son had to deal with that (it's probably harder on us mamas than it is on our kids). I thought the post was so well written and filled with so much great information. I just hope I can remember it when I need it for my own little guy!
xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂
Amanda Brezgel says
Now you have me wanting that blue plaid shirt… What are your thoughts on the lace sleeves on that tunic are they too tight like the reviews say??
Sheaffer says
Hi Amanda! The sleeves are definitely fitted. I liked them that way, but I guess that could be an issue for others. I didn't even think about it, but I'm going to go add that info to the post!
xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂
Brianna says
How about your thoughts on the plaid/flannel scarf from Nordstrom? I got it in green and am wearing it to work today! Love it!!!
Sheaffer says
I absolutely love mine!!! I'm just so sad it's already sold out. Fingers crossed it gets stocked again and others get the chance to buy it!
xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂
Because Shanna Said So says
Thank you for sharing the post about Mean Kids. I agree with this mom and don't even understand the controversy! I would have done the same exact thing! Good for her!
Kelli Badder says
That tunic & that blue flannel need to find their way to my closet. ..ASAP! I think I need the ruffle anorak from Anthro too. Don't tell my hubby. Hee hee!
Nikki Reeck says
Thank you for the Pixie pants rec!! I'm 5 foot nothing and even petite pants are typically much too short, but the ankle length is absolute perfection! And so comfy!!
Anonymous says
What a beautiful son!
Anonymous says
NO PANTS?????!!!! I'm crackin' up!
Deena Simair says
Love that red hunter boot outfit!!!!
Lori says
Trying to decide what size on the tunic…I'm 5'8 and I definitley don't want any hiney or crotchal area exposed. I know your petite but on the fence about ordering either a small or medium(for length) Thoughts?
Sheaffer says
Hi Lori! At 4 inches taller than me, I think you should probably go with the medium. I'm almost 5'4". I hope I'm right!!!!
xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂
Jackie Costello says
I might have 6 pairs of the Pixie pants! 🙂
V @ X-tremely V says
I love that nail polish! That lace tunic is awesome! But Carter totally steals the show in that photo! So cute!
Chic Coastal Living says
Thanks for reminding me that I need to go shopping at Old navy! Love that place 😉
Katie {The Mishaps and Mayhem of a Solitary Life} says
Waiting for my pixie pants to arrive!! I just know I'm gonna love them!!
Jeanie says
Your son is adorable! I bought a pair of Pixie pants last week. They fit great, and I found them to run true-to-size. Must get more.
Gwen L. says
Love the shirt with the lace bottom and cuffs. Especially how the lace is only on the front, ensuring maximum hiney coverage when/if you need to bend down/over for anything.
Kelsey Long says
Loving those hunters!! And that vest is amazing! Thanks for sharing!

Jen Pogue says
I am cracking up so hard that you pulled a "risky business" on us! 😉 Off topic, but I'm finally planning on ordering the Hue leggings that you've shared about before…I just need to go back through posts to find them! I hope your weekend is wonderful!
Sheaffer says
Hi Jen! They are linked in the post above right above the tunics picture!!! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Chelsea says
Love, love, love the lace tunic! Do you think this would be leggings acceptable on a curvier backside? I'm a size 10, 5'4'' and wondering if I should order a large or an XL? For point of reference the Caslon Tunic in a Medium fits me great. (Large is my standard go-to). Thanks! Always love your recommendation!
Sheaffer says
Hi Chelsea! Hm….I wear a small in the Caslon tunic and a small in this tunic. So, it's hard to say. Think about your forearms when ordering this. The lace is tight across the forearm, so maybe let that decide if you should get a l or xl. Hope this helps! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
klmoore23 says
So very excited as I'm headed down to our brand new Nordstrom tomorrow to check it out-first one in Canada!!! Can't wait to finally see all these wonderful clothes you model in person. I'll let you know how it goes! 😛
Rebecca says
Hi Sheaffer, love this Fri favs! Are you going to show us your new home, & esp your new closet soon? It's so fun to look at how homes are decorated in the blog link ups! Esp if it's a new home! Just wondered. 🙂
As always thanks so much for all your fashion advice! You've got the best style!
Happy weekend! 🙂 Rebecca
Sheaffer says
Hi Rebecca! I asked people on facebook if they wanted monthly posts of the house, and the overwhelming answer was Yes! So, I do plan on doing house posts every so often. And I plan on doing Closet Confessions myself in December! Thanks for the sweet words! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Kelly says
Got my lace tunic this week too! It is fabulous! Paired it with the white Rayne kendra scott necklace and it looks awesome! Another great find by you!
Dianna says
Love the t-ball pic! My little one is playing soccer.

Sheaffer – I need to know – do you have the ruffleback anorak? It is on sale for $49! I have an Anthro gift card! I want to buy but am afraid it is too trendy with the ruffles and all. What do you think?
thanks! Kim in RI
