It’s Friday, so y’all know what that means! It’s time to link up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci to let everybody know what some of my favorite things are right now!
First up today, I have an announcement to make. Gather round ladies, cause it’s a big one.
I’M NAMING A NEW MUST HAVE!!!!
I KNOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! I haven’t named one in soooooo long, so it’s ABOUT DANG TIME! It’s the last post of 2016, and I thought we should go out with a bang! Originally, I was going to make it my first post of 2017…but the boots are on sale, and I was too afraid that they would either sell out of popular sizes by Monday, OR the sale would end. SO IT HAD TO BE TODAY!
If you’re new to the blog, the title of MUST HAVE is reserved for only my VERY FAVORITE pieces. You know I’m of course always sharing things I love with all of you…but if it’s an item that I ADORE, and I feel like it would serve a great purpose in lots of ladies’ closets, then it gets the MUST HAVE title! #itskindofabigdeal #tomeanyways #justplayalong 😉
Click HERE for the MUST HAVE boots!
Like I said on Facebook the other night, the boots that arrived at my house were much darker than they appeared on the website. There are a ton of readers out there that apparently had these boots before I ever mentioned them, and I feel like the color debate is split. Everybody LOVES their boots….but some people say they feel their boots are the true “cookie dough” color that appears on the website….and others (like me) say the color is quite a bit darker.
So the color wasn’t what I was expecting, BUT I DON’T EVEN CARE. I love them. And I’m keeping them. And I feel like all of y’all need them too. It’s a character flaw I have. I want people to know, experience, AND LOVE things that I love! I just get so excited to share things, and want y’all to at least try them also!
I MEAN. THEY’RE GORGEOUS, they’re comfy as all get out, and I love the detailing (the stitching, the zippers, the buckles)….I LOVE IT ALL. I found them to be totally true to size. Click HERE for all available colors.
Check out some of the other colors here (mine are supposed to be the color on the very right, but they obviously aren’t). Just click on what you are interested in:
Several of you asked to see a full length picture with the boots on me. The outfit that I was wearing in my close up picture of the boots is actually for Monday’s post… but I decided to throw on a different outfit so y’all could see. #iaimtoplease
I love mixing black and brown together, so I think these brown boots with the black jeans is a match made in Heaven. You’ve seen me in this top once before, and I keep reaching it because of the coziness factor. I’m wearing a small, so it’s true to size (and meant to be a bit over-sized). If you need a pair of black jeans, look no further. I absolutely love these, and the reviews are EXCELLENT (43 5 STAR REVIEWS). Some reviews talk about a weird smell (the dye I guess?), but I didn’t have this problem with mine. Click HERE if you want to see the post with close ups and a more thorough review of the jeans.

If you are new around these parts :), you might want to take the time to click HERE to check out other items (and read full reviews) that I’ve named MUST HAVES over the years (many are still available). Click HERE if you want to see the tunic highlighted that was my other MUST HAVE this year! It’s ON SALE for $27.90! Here are some of y previous MUST HAVES:
Again, I know a lot of y’all are new to the blog since I did my SHOULD HAVE BEEN A MUST HAVE post back in April of this year. That post included items that I didn’t name MUST HAVES when I found them, but after they eventually became favorites of mine, I felt that they should have been given the title. These are items that I reach for again and again.
Besides the military jacket and the watch, all items seem to be still available. Some of these items I wear daily, and others I reach for at least a couple of times a week. They are NECESSARY for me. #imusthavethem
I present to you, my SHOULD HAVE BEEN A MUST HAVE list. And please notice that my favorite lipstick (my color is called “fashion icon”) is being price matched at 20% OFF! (Actually ALL LANCOME is 20% OFF right now!)

In addition to all of the MUST HAVE GREATNESS above, I wanted to share a handful of pictures from our Christmas break and Christmas morning. I’m telling you right now, Christmas break has been OUR FAVORITE. We do it up right over here. 🙂 At the beginning of break, we headed to the new Movie House and Eatery in town to go see Sing! We loved it! And I loved the cheese fries too.
We went to Christmas Eve service at church, and I captured this sweet shot.
x
Upon returning home, he immediately changed in to his comfy clothes (like his mama always does! smart boy!), and we made cookies for Santa.
And we got in some snuggling before bedtime. I’m wearing the baby blardigan, and he’s wearing the original blardigan.
Christmas morning he was so much fun to watch! He was happy, grateful, and just so sweet. Santa came thru in a big way and brought him this nerf machine gun. I think that’s what it is anyway. Chris and I had the best time just watching him lose his mind! 🙂
He got lots of games (we are especially loving Suspend, Gravity Maze, and Bop It) and lots of Under Armour as well. You can find the sweatshirt pictured HERE (and now it’s ON SALE and available in 2 additional colors)! Actually , there’s Under Armour on sale for the entire family HERE.
Sadly, Chris’s family was taken down by a stomach bug, and they didn’t get to join us as planned. My family came over, and Carter and Brody had the best time together. They are 5 years apart, so I’m thrilled they still manage to have a ball playing with each other.
Take a second to soak up the cuteness.
And here they are with my parents! I love this picture!
Have a wonderful weekend and a fun and safe New Year’s Eve! See y’all back here in January! 😉
Andrea Hayes says
Sheaffer, Would you ever consider doing a blog post sometime on what your mom wears? I would love it!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Andrea! She’s appeared on the blog here and there, but I’m certain I could talk her into doing it again! I’ll keep you posted! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Lindsay says
I love this post. At first I couldn’t decide if I was proud or embarrassed about how many must haves and should have been a must haves I own ;), but I’m going to go with proud! I love all of the items I’ve purchased, and I love how you’ve made my shopping experience so easy. I didn’t find you until last year, but you’ve transformed my closet AND ME! I’ve got 3 little ones, and there’s no way I’m taking them to a mall. Hahaha! Thanks for what you do. 🙂 Lots of love from Louisiana.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Lindsay! Well, this comment has made my day! Thanks for reading and for taking the time to leave such sweet words. I’m so glad I’ve been able to help you (and your closet!) out! And I totally agree that you should go with PROUD! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Stephanie Simon says
I am in total agreement with Lindsay. I have so many of your must haves, as well as a ton of other items you’ve talked about. I’ve never enjoyed shopping, I guess because I never knew what to get. You’ve made shopping and getting dressed so much fun! Thank you!
Sheaffer says
Thank you, Stephanie! Happy to be of service!!! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Christina says
I also love your must haves. I don’t own any riding boots but have been thinking about getting a pair. I’m use to wearing flats. Does the 2″ heel feel really tall?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Christina! It doesn’t feel tall at all to me. And I had a couple of readers comment on facebook that they are just as comfortable as their flat boots. Hope this helps! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Christina says
Thanks! I just ordered them after much debating but hey, free shipping and returns it’s risk free! I hope I love them. I know it’s a great brand. And cookie dough? Yum!
Cindy Patton says
I’m curious about your mom’s shoes…can you give us a recommendation?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Cindy! What do you mean? You just want to know some of her favorite shoes?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Cindy! So I just realized that you meant you want to know about her leopard flats! DUH! If I recall, she got them last year at TJ Maxx. I’ll ask her later this morning and reply again when I know for sure! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Cindy Patton says
Yep…that’s what I was wanting to know! Also, I bought 2 of my daughters the “blardigan” this year for Christmas, bought another daughter the Barefoot dreams socks, and I received the “blardigan” from my husband! I love your blog and refer to it often! I look forward to Friday’s every week to read your post!
Sheaffer says
I just talked to her. She said they are from Target (last year), and although cute, they aren’t holding up very well. Enjoy your blardigan! xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂

I have to say, I own a number of items that I’ve discovered through your blog … you are very, very bad for my wallet!! haha. However, I tried on these boots yesterday and I’m going to have to differ with the opinion of “must have.” Don’t get me wrong, they were totally fine boots. But I didn’t find them special or swoon-worthy. I will say, for the price, they are a perfectly good buy for an everyday kind of boot. But I think tall boots with a seam down the front shaft really takes away from any luxe feel that a boot might have. And the calfs were too big on me giving a puss-in-boots effect (and I have average/medium calves, not slim calves). Just my two cents.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Christina! So sorry you didn’t love them. 🙁 I’ve tried on soooo many boots over the last several years, and I stand by the MUST HAVE status. I’m very picky about my boots, and these hit all the marks for me. There’s a pair of Miz Mooz boots I wear all the time (I bought them 3-4 years ago), and I should have named them a must have…but they sold out forever ago. These are the only other boots I’ve ever considered bestowing this honor upon. Ha!!!! 🙂 Again, so sorry you didn’t love them! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Narci says
Oh my goodness!!! These boots are darling!!! I love them in that outfit especially! So cute!
Megan says
Quit tempting me with the boots!!! But I know my reality. Almost all of your must-haves eventually find their way to my closet????. It was a big Nerf gun Christmas at my house too. And I’ll have to admit it’s pretty fun!

I’ve loved so many items you’ve featured, but my green military jacket has to be one of my favorites! I also am wearing baby blardigan (one of my 3 blardigans…not ashamed) at work today for casual Friday with jeans and a tee!
After you featured it last week, we ordered “Suspend” to play on Christmas and it was a HIT! Thank you so much! Perfect game for most ages and really nice for those who don’t love word games. (I love word games, but Hubby’s family doesn’t!)
Leslie Z says
These boots are amazing!!! Even if it doesn’t look like the picture, the color is great!!

Ashley G says
Hey,
It looks like you got sent this color of the boots. http://m.shop.nordstrom.com/s/born-poly-riding-boot-women/4318198?origin=keywordsearch-personalizedsort&fashioncolor=TOBACCO%20DISTRESSED%20LEATHER
They are all pretty, it is strange that the mixup would happen. Loving your blog and must haves. Thanks!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Ashley! I would think that I had just been sent the wrong color, except for the fact that other people have had the same thing happen to them! I have no idea?!? Oh well, I love my boots, whatever color they are! 🙂 xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Jen says
Hi Sheaffer! I have been reading your blog for almost two years now and I look forward to every MWF! The reason I’m writing today is to let you know that I’m anxiously awaiting my new Born boots (Christmas gift cards!) and was so excited to see that you named them a Must Have! I gifted two blardigans this year, some adorable Kate Spade earrings, and own several of your Must Haves. I bit the bullet and got a Nordstrom card this past summer because it just makes sense to make money while shopping:) Here’s where it gets good, and I hope you’re sitting down for this: I have NEVER stepped foot in a Nordstrom store! I know, right? The Nordstrom closest to me is almost 4 hours away! It is a goal of mine this summer to visit the actual store! My son is getting married at the end of August and I’ve already picked out my dress from Nordstrom. I just had to share with you, going into the new year, how influential you’ve been to my closet! I hope Nordstrom has made you an Ambassador or something because they’ve earned a shopper for life because of you. Your words never fail to make me laugh and I’ve shared your name with everyone I know. Have a blessed New Year!
Sheaffer says
JEN! Thank you so much for taking time to write this comment and thanks for being a loyal reader. I appreciate you so much. I hope everybody loved their presents, and I know you will love your boots! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Chris says
Love your recommendations and has anyone told you that you do favor your father – so cute ????
Sheaffer says
I’ve always been told that my mom and I look alike (we looked more alike when her hair was dark like mine), but I’ll take looking like my dad too! 🙂
Heather says
Ha! I have those black jeans and I love them but yes, they smell. The first time I wore them I thought there was something wrong with my car….then I realized it was my pants that smelled weird. I’m hoping it will fade with washing.
Tara C says
I love your dark wood floors. We are getting ready to build a new house. Would you please share what type wood the floors are and the stain color? Thanks, and Happy New Year!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Tara! It was a spec home, so I have no idea about floor finishes or paint colors. So sorry! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Kelly says
I just purchased the boots ( courtesy of Christmas gc’s!) and am hoping they are all that you say they are;). But if not, Nordstrom’s free shipping/returns make it risk free! Can’t beat that. Happy New Year, Sheaffer!
Melody Hansen says
Aw crap. I have these in my cart and have been doing some serious debating and then this post pops up. Crappity crap. Guess they are a must buy. 😉 I’ve been thinking black because I need a new pair of black boots, but I love the way the brown looks with the dark colors. What to doooooooo? And no, buying both is not an option. Ha!
Renee says
I ordered the boots and love them, but the normal calf was way too wide. I returned them today.
Debbie says
Very helpful comment! Saves me a round trip purchase since I have very small calves.
Tanya says
I cant find where it says lancome is 20% off :(. Please help!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Tanya! Looks like the sale ended. 🙁 So sorry! xoxo, Sheaffer
danielle says
Your mother is beautiful Shaeffer, just like you!
Happy Holidays!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Danielle! Thank you so much! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Jennifer says
Just have to chime in, for any still considering these boots, that if you have a wide calf, these probably aren’t a good choice. I ordered the wide calf version, and even though the calf looked like it might fit, the ankle was super narrow, and I could not zip past my ankle. My ankles are thicker, so I had my mom try them on (she has skinnier ‘normal’ ankles) and she also could not zip past her ankle. So as cute as they are, I would not recommend them, even in wide calf, unless you have skinny or average sized ankles and calves. Bummer because they are a beautiful boot!
