It’s Friday, so y’all know what that means! It’s time to link up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci to let everybody know about some of my favorite things!
Before we get started on my favorites for the week, this is the third week now that I’m going to ask y’all to continue to pray for my sweet dad. He is still in the hospital. Tuesday will mark 4 weeks, which feels like an eternity. I do feel like we finally started turning a bit of a corner yesterday (lots of prayers were answered!), so I’m very hopeful that the forward progress will continue.
He has a lot of different issues that he’s dealing with, but the good news in all of this is that his heart is doing well! Now we just need to get all of the other “stuff” fixed. So, please continue to pray for my dad, the doctors, and all of the therapy staff. Pray for my mom too because she has been a rock star! She doesn’t want to leave him at night, so she has spent every single night in the hospital and she only leaves during the day when I come. Again, we appreciate the prayers so very much. Keep them coming!

Now, on to some favorites of the week…..
These two. #snugglebugs

My friends Erika and Shay dropped off a piece of pie for me earlier in the week (they know it’s been hard for me going back and forth to the hospital all the time, and pie seemed like a good way to lift my spirits! they were right!). When the dropped the pie off, they were like “We should have brought you pumpkins instead of pie! Where are your pumpkins?” Well, with all of the stuff going on with my dad, I hadn’t even bothered to take my fall wreath and front porch decorations out of the attic. Well, Shay just couldn’t stand the thought of no pumpkins on my porch…so she delivered some to me later that day! 🙂

My boys took a trip to the ranch with some friends a couple of weekends ago, and Chris sent me a pic of the boys. I love going to the ranch, but I also love that there’s a place for them to have a lot of great father/son time together and time with friends!

Nordstrom asked me to talk about some of my men’s picks again this month! You can see when I talked about casual and comfy clothes HERE and dress up clothes HERE. Today I’m talking about items that your guys will like if they are always on the go and like to keep fit. I think all of these would make great Christmas gifts too. AND Y’ALL. It’s almost November. It’s not too early to start your Christmas shopping! #dontpanic #butstartshopping
1. jacket / 2. socks / 3. pants / 4. phone arm band / 5. tee / 6. ear buds / 7. bose speaker / 8. shorts /9. fit bit /10. blue sneakers / 11. black sneakers
1. This waterproof jacket is perfect for rainy runs, but it also would be perfect for a rainy soccer game with the kids or a day of errands.
2. If your dryer is like my dryer, it eats socks. These no show socks are Chris’s favorites, and they make great stocking stuffers! He gets a 3 pack every year!
3. It doesn’t matter if he’s working out or just hanging around the house, your guy will live in these pants.
4. If your guy is a runner, he will love this arm band for his 6s. With this, he can listen to his favorite music easily when on the go.
5. This tee comes in 10 colors and and is very comfy. It’s lightweight and the moisture-wicking Dri-FIT fabric will keep your guy dry and comfortable in a workout.
6. These headphones are supposed to deliver great sound….and the are sweat and weather resistant!
7. And I know I talk about it every single time I do a gift guide for men…but I’m telling you…the Bose speaker is a PERFECT gift for so many guys! Chris takes his everywhere and can play the music off of his phone anywhere! We use it on the porch at the ranch house, we take it to the neighbor’s when we get in their pool, and it’s great for when you’re grilling out! It makes an awesome gift that so many guys would be thrilled to get.
8. When I read the description of these shorts online, I wanted them for me: Perforated in high-heat zones, these vented basketball shorts are breathable plus super-stretchy for optimal mobility. Except if they were for me, I would just prefer the description to say “optimal comfort” instead of “optimal mobility”. #justkeepinitreal 😉
9. The Charge 2 is the Fitbit that Chris personally owns. He loves it, and it has excellent reviews. It will share everything fitness related, including: number of steps, number of flights of stairs, distance walked/run, calories burned. And it also tells you the time (so you don’t also have to wear a watch). And check this out, it will vibrate when you have an incoming phone call, and the band has caller id! Also, the battery has a great life and lasts 4-6 days between charges.
I always love hearing from readers, but I especially love hearing from readers when they are letting me know that they love something as much as I love something!!!!! 🙂
I take my recommendations very seriously over here, so I have a big ol’ sigh of relief when I find out that y’all agree with me! I never want to give something my stamp of approval unless I really love it, think it’s a good value, and think most of you will love it as well. I mean, I know I can’t please everybody with all of stuff I talk about, but I always aim to please as many as possible!
Here was the comment I received: …The “must have” boots with the plaid lining.. I bought them in black when I was home months ago and I have literally worn them ALL OVER Europe!! England, France, Spain, Portugal, Prague, Budapest, Italy, Scotland… they are definitely my go-to boots for a day of walking on cobblestones AND looking stylish! Thanks for the tip!! I LOVE them! – Amy Larson
Thanks for the comment, Amy! I think walking ALL OVER EUROPE proves they are great for all day wear! And let’s not forget that THEY’RE GORGEOUS. I love the detailing (the stitching, the zippers, the buckles)….I LOVE IT ALL. I found them to be totally true to size.
Click HERE for these boots that I named a MUST HAVE.
Here they are in an outfit….
You’ve seen me in this top several times before, and I’m going to keep reaching for it because of the coziness factor. (Sorry, it looks like my exact color is now sold out, but lots of other colors are available!) I’m wearing a small, so it’s true to size. If you need a pair of black jeans, look no further. I absolutely love these, and the reviews are EXCELLENT (82 5 STAR REVIEWS) and they come in plus size too! Some reviews talk about a weird smell (the dye I guess?), but I didn’t have this problem with mine.

Here’s yet another outfit with the scarf….HOW CUTE IS THE SCARF WITH THE RED HUNTER BOOTS! Sooooo many of my favorite things in one outfit: a striped tee, a leopard belt, a military jacket, and my red Hunters!!!!

I’ve had several reader requests for ponchos this year. I even had a reader (Hi,Lisa !) leave a picture on my facebook page giving me an idea for what she was looking for. I ordered a couple, but didn’t like them at all because they were way too big and bulky. Then I found this awesome buffalo check cape (it’s called a cape because I actually think a poncho has to go over your head), but the picture Lisa sent me was a cape too…so I think this could work for her!
The pattern is red and navy…but it’s a very dark navy…so it worked with my black tee. And let’s not miss the fact that it has pockets. #everybodylovespockets
Oh….by the way…..my pajama jeans are feeling too summery to me now with the light wash, so these babies are my new GO TOs. At 5’4″ I have to cuff them to be ankle length on me, which is good news for you taller ladies! I’m wearing a 27, so they are true to size.

Before you go today, I wanted to remind everybody about the Manda Strong Fun Run that will be here before we know it! If you have been reading the blog for awhile, then I’m sure you are familiar with my friend Manda. She fought cancer courageously three times in her life, and she kept her eyes on God the entire time. After her passing earlier this year, her family started a foundation in her name.
Many women battling cancer don’t have the same type of support system that Manda did, and the Manda Strong Foundation desires to help those women, spefically young mothers who are battling cancer.

Praying for your Dad. When my mom had emergency heart surgery a few years back (you met her at an event you hosted at AC!), I bought her a cozy blanket from Target that was brighty colored and I washed it so it smelled good. I ended up getting two and bringing her a fresh one everyday. Sounds super silly, but was something she remembered. I also changed out pictures so she had different things to look at. Be strong!!!!
Sheaffer says
Such a great idea! Thank you Heather! And thanks for the prayers! xoxo

Awe, know all to well about care giving and the toll it can take on the care giver. I do pray that your Dad will continue to get better. And, what would we do without our friends, they double our joy and divide our griefs and even bring pumpkins for our front porch. How sweet! Always love your outfits and that beautiful smile!
