Friday Favorites

It’s Friday, so y’all know what that means!  It’s time to link up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci to let everybody know about some of my favorite things!

As always, let’s start out with a pictures of the Buddy and Charlie.  If you follow the pups on their instagram (search @ourgoldenpups), you’ve already seen this picture…but it’s too good to not be shared here as well.

We’ve been on vacation all week, so that’s definitely been a favorite!  🙂  We went to Florida, and had the best time!  I’ll have more pictures to share next week, but here’s just one little teaser.

Nordstrom reached out and asked if I wanted to partner up with them to talk about style for the guys in our lives. They wanted me to highlight some favorites, and I knew immediately that I would be choosing casual and comfy clothes.  My guy is nothing if not casual and comfy, so all of the pieces today reflect that vibe.  If I could just get him in a blardigan, I know he’d love it.  😉

Here are my picks!

1) basic polo –  My guy digs a basic polo.  He thinks they are perfect to throw on with shorts and jeans when running around town, going to dinner, etc.  And he loves them with jeans or khakis for church as well.  For Chris, a “regular fit” is what he prefers….none of this slim fit business.   It’s cut with a little extra room through the chest and body for comfort.  It’s not baggy, but it’s not fitted either.  It’s perfect.

2) zella pullover – You know I love Zella for myself, so when I was putting this collage together, I thought I would check out Zella for guys as well.  Chris loves a pullover (his Patagonia is his GO TO  now in cooler weather), but I thought this would be great to try for early fall.  And I love the price.  Chris wore North Face pullovers for years, and he still loves them, but I’m excited for him to try this Zella one as well.  As far as level of warmth goes…the Zella pullover is when there’s just a tiny chill in the air, the North Face pullovers are when the temperatures dip a bit more and your guy wants both coverage and warmth, and the Patagonia pullover really helps keep in heat and keep out the cold.

3) hooded sweatshirt – This just looks like it should be the poster child for cozy, so I thought it should be included.

4) Under Armour tee –  Chris has 5 or 6 of these Under Armour tees.  On the weekends, these are what you’ll find him in. They are loose fitting, but not baggy, so they’re a great fit. His favorite way to wear them is with these Under Armour shorts.

5) straight leg jeans – When it comes to jeans, my jeans have to have a little bit of stretch to them.  It’s required.  When I received a pair of jeans in the mail about a year ago, I had them in the den with the rest of the stuff from the package, and Chris picked them up to move them for me.  He commented on how soft they were, and then I told him to pull on them to see how stretchy they were.  He couldn’t believe it.  In fact, he was ticked!  Ha!  He said he didn’t understand why guy’s jeans couldn’t have stretch in them.  It was only a couple months later that Nordstrom asked me to talk about guy’s jeans, and that’s when we found these!  Soft AND STRETCHY!

6) button up –   In addition to having several color polos, button downs are also a necessity. This one is a great price at right under $50. 7) Gazelle sneakers – So I’ll admit, these are a bit of a stretch for my guy.  However, I WISH he would wear them, so they made it in the collage.  🙂

8) comfy lounge pants – While making this collage, I ordered these for Chris.  And he’s worn them 3 nights in a row.  Now THAT’S an endorsement.

9) Nike sneakers –  Stylish sneakers are a must for pretty much any guy, and these fit the bill.  The other shoes you will see Chris in all the time are Reef flip flops.

10) brown leather belt – Every man needs a basic brown and basic black belt.  This one comes in both colors and is a great simple and classic option.

11) slip on dress shoes – Chris doesn’t love dress shoes, but sometimes he needs to wear them.  These are perfect for church because they are dressy enough for a polo or button down and khakis (which is as dressy as Chris gets for church), but they are still very comfy.  They look great with jeans too. These run large, order a size down.

12) bose speaker – When Chris is dressed in his comfy clothes, whether it be at the ranch or on our back patio, this Bose speaker is always playing.  Pretty much every single time I talk about anything related to guys (from now until the end of time), I will mention this speaker.  #becauseitsjustthatgood

13) nike tee – Maybe your guy prefers Nike.  This has moisture wicking technology as well and comes in several colors.

On the recommendation of a reader, I tried these work out shorts.  I’m so glad she recommended them to me!  I really like the thick waistband, and they don’t ride up at all when working out.  For size reference, I thought they ran a little small (as did other reviewers), so I sent back the smalls and ordered the mediums for myself.  I wear smalls in my favorite high waisted Zella leggings, but I definitely needed a medium in these shorts.  And as I always do with Zella tops, I sized up to a medium.

Zella socks are now the only socks I wear when working out because they stay put and don’t slip down.  They are pricey for socks, but they are worth it to me.  I’ve bought two 3 packs over the last year, and I just wash and rotate them.

Did you catch my post on Wednesday?  Sadly, the top sold out very quickly.  🙁  But in case you were one of the lucky ones that grabbed it, today I wanted to show it to you in a summer look with what will be known as my shorts of the summer of 2017.  And I’m going to say it again, they are ONLY $39.  I highly recommend them.  These shorts do stretch quite a bit, so you might want to consider sizing down a size.  I did not size down, and I’m fine with that, because they shrink up again with every washing and drying.  And they wash SO WELL!  No worries about the cuffs coming undone or having to iron them at all!
