It’s Friday, so y’all know what that means! It’s time to link up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci to let everybody know about some of my favorite things!
*********************************************
First of all, thank you guys for all of the PUPPY LOVE! I’ve received so many sweet comments about how excited you all are for our family, and we are so appreciative. It’s lots of work over here right now, but all of the puppy snuggles more than make up for it. If you didn’t catch my first post about the pups, click HERE. And if you haven’t seen the video of us telling Carter that we were getting 2, click HERE. It will make you smile. And possibly cry. (I’ve watched it at least 50x and cried every time.) It’s a moment I will never forget.
Here’s just a handful of pics from our first week (I’ve seriously taken hundreds). Yes, we are THOSE puppy parents. 🙂 And remember, you can follow along with the pups on instagram by searching @ourgoldenpups.
These two have already brought us so much joy. (If you are interested in a pup, you can contact Jena at txtriplejranch@gmail.com)

I’ve had several of y’all ask about Buddy’s and Charlie’s collars, and I found them on Etsy HERE! They come in a ton of different colorways/patterns (tons more than seen below), and you can customize the font and the type of buckle you would like for the collar.

Those of you that follow me on facebook got a sneak peek of this last Friday, but this is the first time it’s showing up on the blog. Look what Social Threads sent me! It’s navy, it’s embroidered, it’s light and airy, and it’s DARLING! I will most often be wearing mine as a cover up (talk about perfect to throw on to head to lunch or dinner on a beach vacation)…but if you wore a slip, it would be just as cute with wedges and a clutch!
I’m wearing a small, which is true to size for me, and it still has some room. If between sizes, I would recommend sizing down. TIP: A reader commented on facebook to make sure you don’t dry this or it will shrink.
The tote has a removable tassel attached to it, so I removed it to match the dress!
cover up or dress care of Social Threads/ straw tote / Havianas flip flops
This will definitely be going with me to Florida in August! Come to think of it, so will the tote and flip flops.
After I posted the above on facebook, I got a couple of requests for a good slip recommendation. Mine is like 10 years old, and there’s not even a tag on it to know what brand it is. But I found THIS one with lots of great reviews, and it looks very similar to mine.
And y’all. Look at this dress from Social Threads. HOW CUTE! I love the color, the embroidered detail, and the boho vibe.

I got these earrings a couple of weeks ago, and I keep forgetting to show them to you. I would show you a picture of mine…but they are in my closet…and in order to get to my closet you have to go through my bathroom…..and there are sleeping puppies in my bathroom…so that’s not going to happen. 😉 #dontwakethepuppies #ever
The earrings are super light weight, delicate, feminine, and so so pretty! And they are a great price point at $18! I also love THESE that are super similar, but a bit different of a shape and with different colors.

Thanks to a sweet reader, I found out earlier this week that my shampoo and conditioner are both on SUPER SALE!!!
Click HERE for the original post with full reviews of each product you see below . I’m telling you, I swear by every single product in the this graphic and THIS POST will give you a complete run down of why I love each product so much. You need to know about these products. The shampoo and conditioner absolutely transformed my hair. In my late 20s, my hair changed, and it wasn’t as healthy looking or shiny as it had been in the past. My hairdresser at the time recommended ALL SOFT, and it worked miracles on my hair! I even travel with it because it makes such a difference in my hair’s appearance. It’s dull and a bit coarse when I don’t use it.
Redken All Soft SHAMPOO and CONDITIONER / deodorant wipes / Lime, Basil and Mandarin fragrance (I’m also loving Nectarine Blossom and Honey right now!)/ liquid eyeliner from Stila (I use alloy.)/ Dior Eyelash Primer and Extender / blow dry spray
So I introduced y’all to the Stila eyeliner awhile ago, soon after I fell in love with it. Well, I receive a couple of e-mails on it every week, and every single one of them says just about the exact same thing. Here’s one of the e-mails from last week:
I got the Stila eyeliner in Alloy. I was skeptical b/c of the color and the marker tip. We have the same coloring so I figured I might as well give it a shot. Boy was I wrong…it is perfection! I always do a pencil liner but not anymore. I am converted. And the color! The color! I think Alloy may be my new signature color! Andrea P
Listen, I get it Andrea. It’s awesome.
And fyi, y’all can stop being so bossy ;), because I finally purchased the Urban Decay eyeshadow primer for myself after hearing so many of y’all raving about it for so long! Y’all were right. It’s awesome. A little goes a long way, my eyeshadow goes on so smoothly, and the color stays throughout the day. I got the small tube for myself because it was a really inexpensive way to try the product out. I don’t love the applicator, but I just use it to get the product on my eyelids. After that, I use my finger to spread it out and rub it in. It’s awesome.

I partnered up with ModCloth this summer to show y’all some of my favorite online picks. In May I told y’all about my swimsuit and my cover up (click HERE for that post). In June I created a collage of some of their plus size swimwear (because they have a great selection), and this month I’m highlighting some of their great summer dresses! Look at how cute these are, and I love that a couple of them are unique and a bit different than lots of the dresses you typically see in department stores.
garden shift dress / eyelet dress / green midi dress/ little black dress / white shift dress / chambray shift dress /
And remember they have a huge selection of awesome swimsuits. Most of them have a real retro vibe, which is cool.
THIS one keeps catching my eye. It comes in Small to 3x and has fabulous reviews.
Thank you to ModCloth for sponsoring this portion of the post!

I would say that one of the most worn items in my wardrobe this summer has been this peplum tee. I have it in this dark grey, navy, and blush. AND NOW IT’S ON SALE for 40% OFF! The top comes in TONS of colors and has definitely been my favorite top to grab this summer! I’m wearing a small, which is true to size for me. It’s definitely oversized and flowy, but that’s how it is supposed to be. I’m wearing my regular size 27 in the jeans, also on sale (but almost sold out).

Okay, y’all. It’s time to start getting serious about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I’ve already scoured the catalog and have a pretty good game plan going, but I’m always surprised at the new things the stores have that aren’t in the catalog. So….Thursday morning I will publish my picks with all of my favorites thus far. I’m actually able to shop it on Wednesday (WOOHOO!!!!), so you will get to see me actually in the clothes, not just pictures from the Nordstrom site. My post will be live on Thursday morning by 5:00 a.m……..maybe even before that if I can get it all done. As in year’s past, please think of me as your Anniversary Sale Tour Guide. I can think of nobody better equipped for the job. 😉
So, what caught my eye in the catalog?
I will of course be snagging one of these babies. And if I like it as much as I think I’m going to, I’ll probably be grabbing a couple for Christmas gifts as well. I mean…a blardigan with a hoodie and pockets? SIGN ME UP.
As far as staples go, I’ll also be grabbing another one of my favorite Natori bras, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that their Bliss undies and my Whish deodorant wipes will all be included in the sale. I’m also anxious to see what Jo Malone fragrances are included in the set, and I always love seeing all of the beauty sets as well.
I think these earrings will really jazz up lots of fall outfits (SALE PRICE $42.90 / reg. $65).
And I’m totally digging this sweater and these jeans. I’m hoping you don’t have to be at least 5’8″ to pull them off. The jeans are from Wit and Wisdom, which lots of us absolutely LOVE! And they have the ab-solution technology in them that we all started swearing by a couple of years ago.
There are several other items that I’m hoping to love (some wine colored ag jeans, a ruffle necked bomber jacket, a $32 lightweight cardigan, and lots of different boots and bags) but I learned my lesson last year. There were a handful of items that I thought were going to be my favorites, and they weren’t AT ALL. I’m looking at you 2016 Chelsea28 ruffle cardigan. So….I will wait till I actually get to try things on before I pick my absolute favorites. My favorites will be easy to spot because they will have the below graphic attached to them!
You also need to know that I will be running a couple of different contests during the Anniversary Sale. The first one is called SCORE REPORTS and I will be running it on instagram! I love seeing what everybody scores on their own, so I would love for you to post pics of yourself actually in the clothes. In order to be entered into the contest, you will need to tag @sheaffertoldmeto and hashtag #sheaffertoldmeto. At least 1 person will be picked and will win a $250 gift card! And depending on the response, I might give away 2 $250 cards!
I’ll also be running my 4th Annual Special Mama Giveaway during the sale, so start getting your nominations ready. Remember, only moms of children with special needs are eligible, but you can nominate yourself and/or as many people as you would like. For this particular giveaway, the mom needs to be local….because I will be taking the winner (chosen at random) on a $1,000 Shopping Spree to Nordstrom DURING THE SALE! When I officially announce the giveaway, I will include the shopping date, but it looks like we’ll be shopping July 24th.

So y’all have seen THIS shirt on the blog several times already. Well, just yesterday I noticed that it now comes in white too!!! I’m wearing a small, which is true to size for me. I sized up 1 size in the shorts.
off the shoulder top /$39 shorts / flip flops / fringe earrings
The white screams summer.

So I think I’ve made it clear over the last several months that I’m obsessed with the Articles of Society Carly jeans (I have them in a light denim, blush, and white). Well, these aren’t the Carly…but they are still Articles of Society. 2 reviewers say they run a bit big, so you might want to consider ordering down a size. You can’t beat cute jeans for $35.40!!!

LOOK HOW CUTE THIS DRESS IS! I have a top from this brand from Social Threads, and I bought a dress from Nordstrom that I adore. I never featured the dress because it was sold out by the time I received it, but I’m definitely a fan of the brand! Check out all of their stuff HERE! Lots of embroidery, great colors, cute details, and interesting shapes!

This final topic today isn’t a favorite, but the friend I’m talking about certainly is.
My friend Jamie (a relatively new friend to me a couple of years ago, but she quickly became a favorite!) was diagnosed with breast cancer in April.
Another young woman, another friend, having to deal with this terrible disease is just heartbreaking. I’ve talked about Jamie on the blog before, so you might remember her. She lost her best friend Jen to breast cancer last year. And if you remember, Jamie and Jen were very dear friends (they all met in college) with Melanie, who blogs over at Big Mama. Is that all as clear as mud?
Jamie is the type of Christian I strive to be, and she talks about this journey she is on over on her blog, The Breast Case Scenario. Catchy title, right? 🙂
She has a heart for Jesus and for sharing Jesus with others (she was one of the founders of Armour Up, an incredible organization that ministers to young boys in her community), and she is continuing to spread her love for Jesus during this very difficult time in her life. When I asked her if I could share her blog, she responded “Ummmmmm YES!!!! I’m honestly doing it to show people how incredible the Lord is even in the worst of circumstances.” And that’s just one of the many reasons she’s awesome.
On the blog she talks very candidly (and with some serious quick wit) about how she’s using her faith to navigate through her diagnosis, her surgeries, and her soon to be treatment. You might cry some when reading the blog, but I’m telling you, you will also laugh. Because the girl is FUNNY.
I have no doubt that Jamie will lead others to Christ during this battle, just like my friend Manda did, and just like Jamie’s friend Jen did. I encourage you to go read her blog. You WILL be blessed by it. And I would love for you to join me in praying for Jamie, her family, and her doctors.
This is me with Jamie and her sister Jen (yes – her best friend and her sister are both named Jen) sometime last year. How I met Jen (the sister) is a good story for another day, but we all became fast friends, and I’m so happy and proud to have them in my life.
Love you, Jamie! I feel certain that you will gain lots of new prayer warriors today who will keep up with your journey and help pray you through it! I’m looking forward to offering some really big THANK YOU PRAYERS when you beat this!

That’s it for today, ladies! Have a wonderful weekend with your peeps!

I cannot wait for your Anniversary Sale picks! My hubby actually said the words “you need to buy yourself a new purse” the other day. Can you believe it?!?! Probably because of the two I’ve been carrying recently, one has melted icee stains on it from a trip to Target with the kids and the other has had a long rough life. Time to hit up the handbags!

I LOVE the pictures of the puppies! Especially where they are cuddling. We got a puppy three weeks ago. Only one. He’s great and housetraining only took two weeks!
Amanda says
Could those puppies be any cuter!!?! Precious!! And I’m praying for Jamie. I just can’t imagine how terrifying that has to be. I feel like these days, every other person I know is dealing with cancer. It’s just so scary. 🙁

I can’t get enough puppy pics!!! They are already bigger….wahhh, make it stop! Praying for your gorgeous friend. xo

Thank you, Cassie!!!! xoxo
Renee says
Sheaffer, I have a puppy question. Does having two from the same litter alleviate the “I miss mom” nighttime crying and whimpering? That always breaks my heart and I wind up giving in and ruining any effort to crate train. Curious, too, if you are crate training them? Thanks! They couldn’t be cuter.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Renee! YES! No whimpering at night! Now, they do their fair share of puppy playing/fighting…but night times are definitely easier. We aren’t crate training. They do have a soft side crate in the bathroom, but it’s open and they are free to come and go in the bathroom. We didn’t crate train Scout either. Thanks for the sweet words! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Renee says
Thank you! ????
Sarah L says
I’ve been so weepy reading all your posts about the puppies. We lost our 14 year old pug last Friday and it’s left a hole in our family. So happy for your sweet boy getting TWO new brothers! Enjoy that puppy breath- it’s the best!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Sarah. I’m so sorry about your fur baby. When we lost Scout last year, it was 100x harder than we ever imagined it would be, and we knew it was going to be hard! It will get easier. Make sure you read the poem The Rainbow Bridge. xoxo, Sheaffer
Stacy Bender says
You are very influential! I went to buy those adorable earrings at Nordstrom but they were all sold out! If anyone else wants them, I found them on Amazon for the same price!

Thank you so much for sharing your friend Jamie’s story with us. I have been reading her blog for the last hour and had to get a tissue and wipe away tears several times. Gosh….she is wonderful!! She has such a positive outlook and has so many people “carrying” her on this journey. I will be praying for her and her friends and family!!
Sheaffer says
Thank you so much for the prayers, Jenny! And yes, Jamie is amazing!!!! She is an inspiration to so many. xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂

The only one of those I’ve tried is the Nectarine Blossom and Honey (love it!) so I may be adding this little set to my purchase.
