It’s Friday, so y’all know what that means! It’s time to link up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci to let everybody know what some of my favorite things are right now!
I have to kick off my favorites today with THIS SWEATER. Because it’s awesome.
It’s incredibly soft and the perfect weight for spring. In fact, it’s the perfect weight for cool summer nights or mild fall days as well. It’s great on it’s own, but it’s not too bulky to go perfectly under a denim or military jacket. Concerning the fit, it’s loose and drapy (but not boxy), and I love the way it hangs (it’s a bit longer in the back, so it covers your behind). It comes in several colors, so if you don’t like this neutral color, there are some others to choose from! I’m wearing a small, so I think it’s true to size.
When I posted this on Facebook yesterday (you should totally follow me there for sneak peeks), a reader commented with the following: I totally have this sweater, same color & all. LOVE it. Soft fabric….doesn’t pill. Definitely recommend. I haven’t personally owned the sweater long enough to comment on pilling, but I’m so happy to hear that I don’t have to worry about it!
And I loved wearing these sneakers with this look instead of my typical booties or flats! #sportyspice

And here’s a close up of the New Balance sneakers. I love the grey and taupe neutral tones. They look great with blue jeans, but they’ll look good with white jeans as well! I know that lots of you have trouble finding shoes that transition between seasons, and these are perfect for transitioning! These will be year round shoes for me for sure. Since mine only have a handful of sizes left, I found THESE that are very similar (with more sizes). And you can click HERE to see a large selection at Zappos.
A conversation broke out over on facebook last night, and lots of readers recommended THESE invisible socks from Bombas and THESE from Stance! Thanks for the recommendations, ladies!

Speaking of transition shoes……GIRLS.
I’ve got ALL THE HEART EYES for these babies. They are going to be great with skinny jeans, with boot cut jeans, with ankle jeans, with skirts, and with dresses! UPDATE: I had originally ordered the 6 1/2s, but I thought they were a bit loose. The 6s arrived today, and they were PERFECT! So I definitely recommend sizing down a 1/2 size. (I talked to one of the shoe guys at Nordstrom, and he said that everybody was having to size down a 1/2 size.)
So, you’re going to get to see this outfit on Monday. I’m obsessed with the cardigan. It’s the same blush cardigan that was in my post on Friday, and it now comes in NEW COLORS!!!!! I’m going to show you two more looks with it on Monday’s post. Remember that I bought a PETITE SMALL in the cardigan so it wouldn’t overwhelm my 5’4″ frame. And the booties. Seriously. LOOK AT THE BOOTIES.
Oh….OMG at the necklace. It’s fabulous. But don’t buy it today, I have a code to pass along to you on Monday morning on the blog (and Sunday afternoon on Facebook)!

Here are just some of the other color options for the sweater.

As always, going to the ranch with family and friends is most definitely a favorite. And this past weekend was no exception. The boys (big and little) both had a blast, and so did the mamas!

I got a handful of e-mails about this bag that I showed on Monday’s post.
long linen blend cardigan / white tee / tassel necklace /earrings/$14 bar charm necklace / jeans ON SALE/ leopard belt / color block tote bag / nude flats / gold bangle / spike bracelet
So I thought I would answer some of your questions! The tote comes in 3 colorways, and mine is officially called “tan”. The center block is like a really light grey, and the sides are like a taupe. It’s a great neutral color that will go with pretty much everything. One Facebook reader asked yesterday if the “leather” was soft or stiff. It’s definitely soft, but it has enough structure to it that it stands on it’s own and doesn’t flop around!
It doesn’t have any interior pockets, but it does have a snap closure (I really appreciate being able to snap it shut!), and a wristlet that is connected. As you can see here, the wristlet is tied on one of the straps. You can untie it and place it in the bag, or you could even carry it on it’s own.
Several of you wanted to know how much it could hold. It’s hard to see in this picture, but on this particular day I had my make-up bag, my wallet, a brush, my calendar, and my laptop! I also had my keys and sunglasses in the wristlet, and there was plenty of room for more. So, it holds a ton! I did have 1 reader say that she just bought an insert to go inside it to keep her things organized. She also said “my sister liked it so much that she now uses it as a diaper bag with a different insert.” What a great idea! Thanks for sharing, Samantha! Personally, I don’t need an organizer. My wallet , my make-up bag , and the attached wristlet provide me with all the organization I need!
If you have any additional questions about the bag, just let me know!

So I have a secret to share with you, when I first shared these leggings, I didn’t gush about them to y’all. I really wanted to, but by the time they made it to the blog, only XS was left. And I didn’t feel like it was fair to gush when nobody could buy them. WELL…even though the color below is pretty much sold out, there’s a new blue color that is SO FUN. So, I’m now going to show you the paragraph I had written (but deleted) when I published this pic the first time.
Here’s what I wanted to say: Okay, ladies. I know this is a bold statement. But I believe these are my favorite pair of work out leggings I have ever owned. They are a great length, the high waistband stays put (even during high impact work outs), they make me look skinnier that I am (ALWAYS a plus), and I love the design. If you haven’t tried the high waistband yet, YOU MUST.

You saw this ruffle sweater on me a couple of weeks ago (with dark skinny jeans and riding boots). Click HERE for that first outfit that was styled for fall (and 2 other Outfits of the Day). As you can see below, I plan on wearing the sweater into the Spring as well! I think it looks great with white jeans and my new sneaks.

Also, I told y’all a couple of weeks ago that I had ordered THIS denim popover from GAP. Well, I got it and absolutely love it. I will be wearing it with white jeans and sneakers (like in the flat lay above) for sure. I’ll have a picture of me in it soon! And you can get 40% OFF right now with the code FORYOU.

So y’all have seen this picture of me many times before. And you probably recognize my favorite boot cut jeans. The ones that suck you in, but still manage to be OH SO COMFY. I’m not sure how they have so much stretch in them, but still manage to provide a really snug fit…but they do! I’m wearing a 27R, but they come in petite now as well! If between sizes, I would suggest sizing down.
boot cut jeans/ top / necklace sold out/ earrings / similar taupe bag
I’ve told y’all how the only thing I didn’t like about the jeans was the light colored stitching.
Well, GUESS WHAT! That is no longer going to be a problem!
I got two e-mails from readers (I can’t find the e-mails now, so I can’t call them out by name 🙁 ) recommending that I color the stitching with a black sharpie. They said they had done it and it worked wonders. So I did it. And y’all! They weren’t kidding! I haven’t washed them yet, but they said it holds up great in the wash. I guess it works since the denim is such a dark wash, so you don’t have to be perfect while coloring.
Y’all! Look at the difference!!!!!!!!! I’m going to finish covering up the stitching, and you’ll get to see the final results in a future post. Thanks to the readers who sent me the idea!

And last, but definitely not least, the Bachelor recap is always a favorite from the week. Click HERE for this week’s recap.
And y’all. Look at this. SHARK GIRL LIKED MY IG PIC (with the #bringsharkgirlback hashtag on it) from Wednesday’s recap! And now she follows me on instagram! So much fun!

Thanks for checking out my Friday Favorites. Have a wonderful weekend with your people! I’ll see you back here on Monday with 3 outfits with the long cardigan. The post will also include a jewelry code AND some jewelry highlighted with one of my favorite spring combinations: a grey tee with my must have denim jacket and white jeans. Yeah, it’s gonna be a good one.
Cristina Gardner says
You don’t have to use black. I bought a navy blue sharpie at an office supply store and do the same to the elaborate pocket stitching on an old favorite pair of jeans.
Shay Shull says
Argh! Too much to say! First, I love that first sweater! Second, that Gap popover is too cute, third, that sharpie business is BRILLIANT and fourth, how cool that she saw your IG post?!? Eeks! Happy Friday!! xo
Erika Slaughter says
-Shark Girl commented on your IG! OMG!! -I’m LOVING your New Balance tennis shoes. Love love love them! My love for NB started in college and runs deep. -I think Gap is killing it this spring {can I say spring already} with tops. I can’t wait to see your popover. I miss your face, friend!! Hope to see you soon!
Stacy says
I have that bag and think it’s amazing, especially for the price. It looks much more expensive than it is, and I agree that the material is so soft. I also ordered the Zella leggings when you talked about them, and they are absolutely my favorite. I’m thinking I might order the blue too. Happy Friday! Oh, and those peep toe booties are awesome. Waiting for the full review on Monday’s post.
Elizabeth says
Love those Nikes and that tote!! I neee a great work bag! I’m a pretty recent speech therapist working in outpatient pediatrics. I’d love a post on all of your tips…and WORK clothes that can manage kid size furniture and floor time.
I sent a shoutout your way on my Friday Favorites this morning. I love the Bachelor posts!
Sheaffer says
Thanks for the shout out, Elizabeth! Very sweet! I was VERY lucky and the principals at the schools I worked in let all of us working in the Special Education rooms wear jeans. So I pretty much wore jeans every single day. Sorry I’m not more help in that department!
Narci Dreffs says
Those New Balance are just darling! Love all the pictures of the ranch! Just precious!
Megan says
I absolutely cannot stand light stitching on dark jeans. This sharpie tip is a game changer!!

About Nick’s short shorts: They really are a thing. I’m pretty sure they’re Chubbies shorts because my son is a college student and he has several pairs. Apparently they’re really trendy. It’s a 70’s throwback thing. Just FYI.
di says
I had never thought about coloring in stitching…I could have had some nice jeans before.
heidi says
Oh soo much good stuff here !!
I love the ruffled sweater.. so pretty.
I love that shark girl follows you. ..love it!
Kim Kauffman says
Love that new sweater! Looks so cozy. Even though it will be cold for awhile I just can’t bear to buy another sweater. I have major spring fever. We are going to Hawaii in May so I’ve been trying to find fun new clothes to take with me! Have a great weekend!! PS- how fun about Shark Girl!!!
Kara says
So does this mean you and Sharkgirl are friends!!? If so, you have to get the inside scoop on her and her time on the Bachelor. Like you, the longer she was on the show, the more I liked her.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Kara! I don’t know her. But now we follow each other on instagam! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Sue W. says
Absolutely LOVING all of the clothing, shoes, and accessories you styled for us today! Thank you! Just a question about the New Balance sneaks… do you find they run TTS or smaller? I bought a pair a few months ago in black (sooo comfortable) and had to go up a 1/2 size. I am dying to order this grey pair but want to know what to order. Thanks, and enjoy your weekend!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Sue! I ordered true to size! Xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Lisa Richardson says
I feel like I need to grab a Sharpie, run up to my closet and get my color on!???? Who’d have thought??? Happy Friday Sheaffer!
Terri says
If the Sharpie color doesn’t stay put in the wash, buy a black fabric marker which is made to last through washing! The black side does look so much nicer!! I’ve used the fabric marker to write on the tags of my kids blankets/jackets for preschool.
Angela Ellingson says
So fun Alexis saw your IG post! I’m sure the support made her feel good!
Becky says
Hey Sheaffer, Which color do you have in the Feliecia flats? On a post in Dec you said bare nude and on a more recent post you said classic nude!? It seems like the bare nude is a bit darker, not sure! I like yours though and was just wondering! ❤️Becky
Sheaffer says
Hi, Becky! Hmmmmmmm…..I guess I don’t know?!? I think one of the nude colors is new, and I guess I’m not sure which one I have. It’s hard to tell based upon the pictures on the site, but I’m thinking that they are the classic nude? I’m so sorry I’ve caused confusion. xoxo, Sheaffer
