Friday Favorites

It’s Friday, so y’all know what that means!  It’s time to link up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci to let everybody know what some of my favorite things are right now!

FAVORITE #1:  CARTER’S BASEBALL TEAM

Carter’s baseball team won their pre-season tournament AND the season!  Taking 1st place sure was fun, but watching these boys grow both individually and as a team was my favorite part.  I mean, look at this fine group of young men!  🙂

We are so thankful for the AMAZING coaches that really set the tone for a supportive, encouraging, and SUPER FUN season.  Carter still has a lot of room for improvement, but we’ve been so proud of his excitement for the game this season and his desire to always be getting better!  And I tell ya, the first time he catches a pop fly in a game, we are going to throw a party!

FAVORITE #2:  HALLOWEEN

We had a great time trick-or-treating this year, and my goodness does my neighborhood ROLL OUT!  Several houses gave out full candy bars! #whoah  Carter was Kylo Ren(from Star Wars) and had a fun time running around with his friends.  However, after about 10 houses he was all “I really have plenty of candy.”  Which is SO me.  Now, if they were handing out tacos, I could go all night.  😉  Here’s a collage of our night.  I ended up dressing like a 1950s housewife at the very last minute.  My plan was to wear an oven mitt, but mine was way too dirty!  And then I thought I would grab a mop on the way out the door, but I couldn’t find one!  Some people probably just thought I had over-accessorized, but whatever!  #fancy

FAVORITE #3:  CONNER’S GIGI BAG

Y’all have been seeing my sister’s GiGi New York bag in her recent WORK WEAR posts.  I’ve had several questions about the bag, so I told Conner to send me her personal review of the bag (since she’s been carrying it for so long) as well as a picture of the inside of it.

Here’s what she had to say.  If you need a stylish and functional work tote, this is the bag for you.  I’ve had this tote for almost 2 years and love it just as much as the day I got it. The quality is amazing and it looks like a much more expensive bag.  I get SO many compliments on my tote – the option to add a monogram is such a personal touch, and it’s only $15! I can fit everything I need in this bag (SurfacePro included!), but I don’t feel like a bag lady.  🙂  The strap is long enough to go over your shoulder, but you can also carry it in the crook of your arm.  One of the things I love about this bag is the lining.  Typically, black bags have a black lining which causes things to get lost and never resurface…#blackhole.  The inside of this bag is a camel color and it’s fabulous – I can see everything! The leather is super soft, but the tote still stands up on its own and holds it shape.

FAVORITE #4:  CONNER’S OLD NAVY DRESS

Earlier this week Conner ran in to Old Navy to return some stuff she’d bought for Brody, and this dress caught her eye.  Isn’t it SO CUTE on her?  Paired with booties, a simple necklace, and her new bag she is ready to go!!!  Here’s what she had to say about it:  You can dress it up with booties or dress it down with flats or riding boots.  It has a cowl neck, but it’s not bulky, so you could still wear a printed scarf with it – go with a leopard print!  I definitely recommend sizing up in the dress.  The material is thick so a slip isn’t required, but I’m wearing one to smooth things out.  🙂

FAVORITE #5:  CHRISTMAS PAJAMAS

Click HERE for these super adorable Christmas pajamas.  I put them on ig and facebook sometime last week immediately after I found them online, and everybody went crazy for them.  However, several did say that you wished they were pants, which I totally get.  I think the shorts are cute, but fair warning, they are SHORT.  If you don’t like short shorts, you aren’t going to like these.

FAVORITE #6:  THE EARRINGS  ARE BACK!  THE EARRINGS ARE BACK!!!!!

FAVORITE #7:  NAVY SWEATER ON SALE

I got this sweater a couple of weeks ago, and now it’s ON SALE!  It’s so soft, and I love the casual feel of it.  The picture on the site is misleading though, because it makes it looks like it’s layered, but it’s not.  It is cut up on the one side, but the models are wearing camis or tees under their sweaters.  The sweater isn’t short enough that I have to have something under it, but if you want a layered look, you would have to add another layer. For size reference, I’m wearing a small, so I think it’s true to size.  I’m wearing a 27P in the jeans.

I’ve received several e-mails recently asking for a good military jacket recommendation.  I really like this one that I talked about for the first time several months ago. Size References:  DEFINITELY size down in the jacket.  I’m wearing an x-small, and I’m NEVER an x-small, especially in a jacket.  I’m most often a small, but sometimes a medium.  So anyway, SIZE DOWN.  I sized up in the tee to a medium for a bit of a slouchy look.

Favorite #9:  Boho Tunic

So on Wednesday I showed you my new tunic with leggings and tall boots AND with regular ol’ blue jeans and flats.  A reader commented on facebook that she had worn it with grey skinnies and loved it, so yesterday I wore it with my grey skinnies and my over the knee suede boots.   And it was another great look!  I’m wearing a small in the tunic and a 27P in the jeans!

Favorite #10:  The Baby Blardigan and Oprah

So I’ve been talking about the baby blardigan since last year at about this time.  And I’m still full blown obsessed with it.  I legit wear it every single day.  Really.  EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.  So yes, it’s expensive.  But I got my money’s worth out of it after the first month.  WELL.  I’m not the only one who loves it….and y’all aren’t alone in loving it either….OPRAH loves it.  Yes.  OPRAH.  How do I know?  Well, a reader (Hi, Paige!) let me know yesterday that the baby blardigan is on Oprah’s 2016 Favorite list.  Yep.  So, we can all feel pretty smart right now.   Go US.  (The camo pants pictured are from several years ago, but you can find similar ones HERE.  They just went 40% OFF and sizes are going fast!)
