It’s Friday, so y’all know what that means! It’s time to link up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci to let everybody know what some of my favorite things are right now!
FAVORITE #1: GETTING THE MOST OUT OF AN OUTFIT
So, do y’all ever lay an outfit on a bedroom chair or something after you wear it one day, and then pick it up the next day to wear it again? You don’t? Yeah, me neither. 😉
This shirt, this hat, this bag, and these shoes were laying on a chair after my Joanna Told Me To post with the black maxi skirt. I wore all of them again, just switched out the maxi skirt for the denim shorts!
exact chambray shirt I’m wearing a medium. (Nordstrom version on sale HERE)/ $12 cami / exact denim shorts (I’m wearing a 5, so they are true to size.)/ wooden earrings / arrow necklace / shoreline converse (true to size)/ turquoise bracelet stack c.o. Accessory Concierge / cognac cross body c.o. FashionABLE
Just to remind you, this was the outfit thrown over the chair…

FAVORITE #2: Cross body bag
The cognac cross body from FashionABLE quickly turned into a favorite for me. It’s so easy to throw on when just running around town to do a couple of errands. My nude flats have been a favorite for awhile, I even named them a SHOULD HAVE BEEN A MUST HAVE back in April! Sadly, the top is sold out. So sorry! 🙁 So is my exact pair of jeans.

FAVORITE #3: MY NEW BREAKFAST
I go on breakfast kicks. I eat the same breakfast for like 2 months, and then I switch to another breakfast. To be honest, until recently, I didn’t eat breakfast. I just wasn’t hungry in the morning. But I started eating breakfast regularly about a year ago. My last 2 breakfast kicks include V8 juice and Nut Thins for awhile, and then Greek Yogurt and Granola. But right now my kick is Pink Lemonade SPARK and avocado toast. It is DELICIOUS.
I toast a piece of wheat bread, and then I spread the mashed avocado on the toast. I salt it, pepper it, and then I sprinkle some red pepper flakes on top. I’m telling you, it’s divine. I’m still drinking the same pink lemonade SPARK, but Chris is now drinking a fruit punch/grape mix! Shara (our neighbor and Advocare rep) recommended the combo, and it’s Chris’s favorite! If you are interested in Advocare products, you can contact Shara at sjeanne13@yahoo.com. She would love to be your contact person!
FAVORITE #4: This Brownie Dessert at Sugar Bacon
Chris and I went on a date night a couple of weeks ago, and we splurged and got dessert! If you like chocolate, fudge, ice cream, and homemade peanut brittle then you’ll love this brownie sundae from Sugar Bacon on the McKinney downtown square. If you don’t like those things, then I’m sorry, but we can’t be friends. 😉
FAVORITE #5: SHUTTERFLY BOOKS
If you know me, you know I love a good photo book. In fact, after Carter was born, I used to make a book to commemorate each year. Sadly, I haven’t done one in the last 3 years. I hate that I got away from it because we absolutely treasure them. I’m going to make it a priority to complete one for years 4-7 once Carter starts back to school! It will be a lot of work, but it will be worth it!
Here is my current stack of photo books. I’m sure there are lots of services out there, but I have used Shutterfly for all of mine. I think it’s simple to use, and I love that they store all my photos as well. Click HERE for Shutterfly. All of these are 8×8 books with additional pages added.
And here are the front covers of the books. My goodness I want to pinch 6 month baby Carter’s cheeks!
I just completed another book, which is what made me think to talk about them on the blog. This one was a tribute to our sweet furry boy. I made this one a little bigger, in a 10×10. We actually gave it to Chris for Father’s Day, and I know it’s something that we will cherish forever. We still miss sweet Scout everyday, and we look at the book often. When we look at the book, it makes us smile to see what a happy life he lived.
Click HERE if you are interested in creating a book for yourself or for a gift (grandparents FLIP OUT over these books and they make great Christmas presents)! And you can sign up HERE for 50 free prints! Sadly, if you are like me, the only pictures you print now are the occasional ones you put in a frame.
FAVORITE #6: Under Armour is Carter’s Favorite
We made it through all of KN and almost all of 1st grade before Carter’s obsession started. But now? Now the boy often has on 2, 3, or 4 pieces of Under Armour at once. Shirt, shorts, shoes, and hat. I tell him that it’s okay to just wear 1 or 2 pieces at a time, but he doesn’t believe me. 🙂
And you can of course guess that he also got an Under Armour backpack and lunch sack. Which actually made me want to bawl, because I sure did love ordering Pottery Barn backpacks, picking the design, and then getting it monogrammed. Looks like those days are gone.
He got THIS backpack (but in the grey on grey that is now sold out) and THIS lunchbox. #underarmourforlife
FAVORITE #7: PILLOWS
I have a thing for pillows. Lots and lots of pillows. I have 10 on my bed when it’s made up. Yep, you heard that right. 10. The standard shams (the third row from the back) are from Pottery Barn a couple of years ago and match the duvet. All of the other pillows are ones that I’ve picked up over time at HomeGoods. #givemeallthepillows
Now, I’ve got a question for you. How long do all of you keep bedding for? 2 years? 5 years? What’s the standard? I’ve been eyeing THIS duvet, but at 2 years old my stuff still seems brand new. Click HERE for all Pottery Barn options.
FAVORITE #8: Dash and Albert Rugs
I own 2 Dash and Albert Rugs that I bought from a store in downtown McKinney. I have this red one in the kitchen, and I have a blue one in the guest bathroom. I love them. I’ve since found out they carry a really large selection at Nordstrom, which is great because the free shipping and returns make it easy to try out a rug. The color combos and the stripes make me absolutely SWOON. Go check them out, and I promise you that you will fall in love with the brand.
I posted this picture on instagram a couple of weeks ago, and y’all were so sweet and complimentary of our kitchen! THANK YOU! I’m entertaining the idea of showing more house stuff here and there, so let me know if that’s something that you are interested in seeing!
FAVORITE #9: BRACELET
When strolling through Northpark last week, THIS Agate Stone bracelet caught my eye! It’s only $20 and will look so great with just about any fall outfit.
bracelet c/o Monique Vinader / agate stone bracelet
I might have ordered THIS necklace for myself. The turquoise pendant, the red beads, and the leather tassel spoke to me. They said BUY ME NOW, WOMAN. I just love how the entire line is so colorful and eclectic.
FAVORITE #10: RESTOCKS AND SALE ITEMS
So MY FAVORITE BOOTIES have been restocked. They are not currently on sale, but I still feel like they are a great deal. Especially considering I will be wearing them several times a week!
Here are some new to sale items. Just click on what you are interested in!

Girl, I hear you! It’s happening even quicker with Bowen and the Under Armour! He wants to dress “just like Nixon”. Waaaahhhh!!!
Nikki says
Love Shutterfly books! We make one for the very ‘season’ at our lakehouse. Guests love to flip through and try to find themselves in pictures from past years. I’d love to see more at f your house!
Natalie says
I would love to see a whole house tour!
heidi says
Me too ☺☺☺
Shay Shull says
Okay, so I was going to comment on like four other things but then I saw your last favorite and got all teary. Thank you friend! You know I couldn’t do this without the love, support and encouragement of my friends. So blessed by you. xo
Narci says
That avocado toast is definitely my favorite too!! I love it with eggs!! Yum!!
Kellie says
Try going bigger with your rugs! I remember someone telling me you don’t want your rug to look like a little ” placemat” on your floor!
Love Avocado toast. You can put scrambled egg whites on top for protein!
Susanne says
I definitely want to see more of your house. An entire house tour would be fine with me!
Christina says
I’d love to see more of your house. As for bedding, I say keep it until it starts to look worn OR if you are just ready for a change and found something you like then go for it. We have had our PB quilt for 4 years and I’m still in love with it and it’s in great condition.
Candas says
Not to encourage more shopping, but we have that PB duvet and love it! I did have more trouble matching pillows, so I went with more solids (their Porcelain Blue is a pretty match, and there’s a rust that’s gorgeous) and it’s so cheerful looking! 😉
Also, avocado toast is my favorite. If you’re feeling adventurous, try putting a fried egg on top!
heidi says
What a lovely book to celebrate Scouts life, a priceless treasure x
Ok, I hear you on bedding, we built a home 5 years ago and I totally splurged on bedding, but is time for a new set…and a new room color I think!!!.. I have my eye on a white set from anthro but I’m a little nervous about the white lol
Shay looks stunning on the cover, such a pretty looking book!
Beth M. says
I switched from Shutterfly books to Chatbooks. SO MUCH EASIER! They automatically upload from Instagram and you can add or exclude pics. So easy and only $8 per book!
Nikki says
I love avocado toast! Yum. — Love the sweet book for Scout. I still haven’t been able to do one for my dog that passed away two years ago. We honor his special place in our hearts by volunteering with a local rescue and fostering dogs until they find homes where they will be loved as much as our boy was!
MelanieL says
I love all your favorites this week!! I would love to see more home blogs posts from you, I need home décor ideas and advice too and you have never been wrong on fashion:) PS – My kids have had their UA backpacks for two years, they hold up very well…better than PB!
Jennifer says
Be sure to check Nordstrom Rack for returned Anniversary Sale items! I totally lucked out, found those Lucky Booties there for just under $55!!! I walked out of the store trying not to laugh for my amazing score! Lol
lindsey says
When I was young, childless, and naive I started making a shutterfly book for each of our anniversaries. Then I had kids and realized how much time they take BUT I power through each year and that’s my husband and my anniversary gift. I am SO thankful that I keep doing it because we have a book for each year and it’s so fun to look through! 9 years down, the rest to go! 🙂
Melissa Wilburn says
If you lived in St. Louis, we’d invite you to our ‘scrapbooking’ sessions. A group of us (who all read your blog!!) get together every 6 weeks or so and sit in front of our computers and work on our Shutterfly books (while eating and drinking, of course). It’s a fun way to hang out AND get those books completed!!
Sara Brunnquell says
Yes! As a member of the scrapbooking club, I agree it’s a GREAT way to spend an evening!!! We have even talked about making it a digital scrapbooking weekend, someplace with a spa and good food!
Lori Doo says
All things are right on point…I really cannot add anything to your ‘style’ things, but–I do all that to my avocado toast too +++ squeeze on a little lime juice!!! And sometimes a boiled egg white…keeps me full and happy all morning!!
Casey says
I would love to see more of your house! The bits we have seen are lovely! Also, I typically keep my bedding for around 5 years. One time I bought a really busy duvet and was tired of it after 2 years and so I usually go neutral and switch up my pillows and sheets!
Kim Kauffman says
I’m with you on the pillows! I have nine and Eric thinks I’m crazy!
Rebecca says
Hi! For several gifts (both sets of grandparents, Father’s Day, 50th & 60th birthdays for 3 aunts & my mom & more) I made photo books (several sizes) through shutterfly & used them for our yearly 12×12 albums. I loved them, but then I discovered mix book & this year will be our 5th through them. Check them out! I think it’s so much better than shutterfly bc you have endless options. You can change layouts, change photo sizes, & do anything to customize your photos & pages. They don’t limit your photo count or pages either, which makes a difference with a whole year book! They even have already done layout pages w/ stickers & backgrounds in case you’re not very create, like me sometimes! ???? Mix book’s customer service is great too, they replaced a book that was damaged during shipping & cards that turned out too “pixely”! And I’d love for you to show us your entire house, it looks lovely from what you’ve shown!
Happy weekend, Rebecca ☺️
Kristen says
Tell me, is it a pain to take off all those pillows at night and put on in the am?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Kristen! Not for me! It only takes about 60 seconds, so it’s not that big of a deal! And I love them so much that I don’t mind!!! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Heather says
if you love the duvet, get it! i have a few and change them through out the seasons depending on my mood and season. all my shams/ pillows mix and match (they are neutral) so i don’t always buy the coordinating shams. my son also has a couple of duvets that i switch out and mix up by adding different pillows and throw blankets.
