It’s Friday, so y’all know what that means! It’s time to link up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci and let everybody know what some of my favorite things are right now!
FAVORITE #1: SPRING CLOTHES FOR CARTER
Every so often Nordstrom reaches out to me to talk about their awesome selection of kid’s clothes and shoes that they carry. It was time for me to order some new school and church clothes for Carter, so it was perfect timing!
First, I got him some graphic tees (this one was his favorite), some striped cozy shorts that are supposed to arrive soon, and these darling starfish swim trunks.
Now for the record, I would like to state that I would have chosen his blue or grey Natives to wear with this outfit… But Carter had other ideas because “Mom, the sleeves are green and the shoes are green so I should totally be wearing them together.” Allrightythen 😉 I absolutely love the Boden brand and it’s products. Shop for boys HERE and girls HERE.
shirt / jeans / native shoes / sunglasses no longer available
This little fella has my heart.
He’s a bit of a ham. I have no idea where he gets it from.
Get The Look For Your Boy Here. Just click on what you are interested in.
I also got him his Easter outfit! Love checking that off the list! I was just snapping away and not really looking at the pictures, so when I saw this one I laughed out loud. Man, he is really giving it to the camera! #bluesteel
button up shirt / grey pants (also available in blue) / Sperry boat shoes (I’ve shown y’all these shoes before! Remember that they don’t tie, they velcro! Woop!)
And check him out here. Watch out, ladies! 😉
You can shop for Easter dresses for you daughter HERE and shoes HERE.
A huge thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring this portion of my post!
FAVORITE #2: GOD’S WORD IN MY HEART AT BEDTIME
So Debbie, the author of this sweet book, is pretty much kin to me. How country do I sound right now, by the way?!? 😉 She lives with her hubby and 2 kids in the country (close to the family ranch), so we see them every so often when we go down there, at family reunions and such.
Before having kids of her own, Debbie led weekly worship and Bible lessons to young kids in Houston’s 5th Ward. The 5th Ward is currently known to be the poorest and highest crime area of Houston. She quickly saw that the typical Bible lessons from the book stores were not translating well and set out to write her own songs and stories for the kids. Stories and songs that would help them memorize God’s Word in hopes it would help them when she could no longer be there. “God’s Word In My Heart At Bedtime” is the first in a soon to be series of children’s books that was birthed out of the stories she told those kids. There are silly rhymes and wonderful illustrations that help children of all walks of life use scripture to combat all of those bedtime fears and hesitations!
Click HERE to get the book for your family! This would make a PERFECT addition to your little one’s Easter basket! The rhymes are just so sweet and will help your kiddo understand what certain bible verses mean for their little lives when they are scared.
FAVORITE #3: MY NEW TEE
Back last summer I got an e-mail from a mama whose grown daughter (who had twins herself) was suffering from Stage IV cancer. They were doing a t-shirt fundraiser, so I shared the sweet letter from the mom and the site for the fundraiser. Well, Elise contacted me again a couple of weeks ago to give me an update.
This is what she has to say: I’m Elise! I’m 32! I’m a wife + Mama to boy/girl twins. In May of 2015, I was diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer! It was really bad! I was staring death in the face BUT GOD! In September 2015, I started my Christian based apparel line, Fight Apparel as a way for me to share my testimony of God healing my body as I am doing very well + winning my fight with Stage IV Breast Cancer. Today, there is no active Cancer in my body! All praise to God! We pray that you are encouraged through our apparel to know that whatever your own fight is, with God you will win! Our main mission is that God is glorified!
She also sent me one of her super soft tees THAT I LOVE! Love the color, love the fit, and I definitely love the message. Elise says, This tee is a constant reminder that Jesus thought we were ALL worth so much that He died on the cross to save our souls + free us! Walk in the freedom that Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice provides us all! Don’t stay in bondage, you are already free! I’m wearing a small, so I think it’s true to size. If you want a more generous fit, I would size up. Thank you Elise!
I’ve also had several readers recommend these next 2 pairs of designer jeans if you’re interested.
FAVORITE #4: Mr. O’Hern
Mr. O’Hern, one of my very favorite teachers of all time, passed away suddenly over the weekend. Mr. O’Hern was my junior high choir teacher in 7th, 8th, and 9th grade and the leader of the show choir I was in for 8th and 9th grade. He was the best kind of teacher. The kind that you had a ton of fun with, but also respected and wanted to please. He taught all of his students much more than how to harmonize and sight read notes on a page. He taught us about hard work, compassion, inclusion, and kindness. All important life lessons.
A funny story about my junior high choir days…..Mr. O’Hern gave out awards at the last choir concert each year. And I received the “Most Improved” award TWO YEARS IN A ROW. I mean, is that hysterical or what?!?
Here’s Limited Edition (the junior high show choir) with Mr. O’Hern after one of our Christmas performances.
And here I am with Mr. O after one of our Country Western sets for Limited Edition. I mean, nothing says country quite like green lame and sequin belts. 🙂 Mr. O was a big ol’ teddy bear, and just as sweet as can be. The last time I saw him was when he sang”In This Very Room” at our wedding almost 15 years ago. He was such a dear man, and I’m so lucky to have had him as a teacher for 3 years. I attended his service yesterday, and it was so amazing to see and hear about the many lives that he touched. I know one thing, not a one of his students will ever hear “Carol of the Bells” or “The Lord Bless You and Keep You” without thinking of him.
Rest In Peace Mr. O. You were and are loved by many!
FAVORITE #5: I’m On the Magnolia Street Team!!!
So about a month ago my friend Jenn texted me (you might remember Jenn from us going to meet Chris Harrison!) letting me know that I should apply to be on the Street Team for Chip and Joanna’s new book. I hadn’t heard about it, but I hopped right over to the website and applied! Well, I got the news last week that I’m on the team! Now, I’m not exactly sure what all that means just yet, but I do know that I’m helping get the word out about the book!
I’m obviously totally psyched to be on any team promoting Chip and Joanna Gaines new book. I will have more information on the October launch shortly, but today People magazine gave us the first look at the cover. LOOK HOW CUTE!!!!
Until I have more info, you can learn more on the Magnolia website HERE. You can also check out the info on People.com HERE.
FAVORITE #6: YOU LADIES!
I know we’ve had some kinks to work out the first week with the new blog, and y’all have continued to be patient, and I thank you for that! My girl Stephanie (thank you Stephanie!) implemented a couple of fixes for the e-mails that are being sent out through feedburner, and the font should be much easier to read now! She also implemented some sort of plug in (I think that’s what it’s called anyway) that was supposed to help clear up the blurry pictures. We weren’t able to recreate the problems on our devices, but I’m hoping those of you that were experiencing the blurry picture issue are now seeing pictures that are more clear!
And remember, if still having issues with your old e-mail (of if signing up for e-mail for the first time), you can click HERE to sign up for the blog e-mail through a different service. The font should be corrected, and you should be able to read the blog at work!!!!!! Again, just click HERE and sign up! It will only take like 5 seconds, you’ll then receive an e-mail to confirm your subscription, and after you confirm it, you’ll be good to go!
FAVORITE #7: MY NEW SUMMER FLARES
I have a new pair of flare jeans (only $58!) that are perfect for spring and summer. The color is so fresh and light, and I love the look of the waistband. And the fit makes me feel tall and skinny! #fistbump #flaresforpresident And my floral top is ON SALE for only $28.80 (but almost sold out)!
true flare jeans (I’m wearing a 5. The size chart said that a 5 was the same as a ladies 4, and the 5s worked for me.)/ floral v neck / gold earrings / cork wedges (I suggest ordering a 1/2 size up.) / arrow necklace / cross body
Get The Look For Yourself Here:
And if you remember THESE darker flares, I got them during the Anniversary Sale and love them! And they’re on sale. I have a 7 in those (and a 5 in the ones above).
