2 MORE SUMMER OUTFITS
On Monday’s blog post, I highlighted 5 FABULOUS SUMMER OUTFITS, including 2 fabulous dresses. Today I’ve got two more outfits for you!
Today I’m showing them with some 5″ denim shorts, also on sale.
The patterns and colors in the blouse are so pretty, and all of the little details are so feminine. The collar has a tiny ruffle, the sleeves are on the longer side and gathered, there’s some smocking across the chest, and tiny little soft pleats all across the back. There are 4 colors/patterns to choose from, and I love the one with pinks, purples, and blues too. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
These shorts are from Wit and Wisdom, our favorite denim brand. And these just went 33% OFF!
They have the AbSolution technology that we all know and love, which means they are super comfy and crazy flattering. You can roll up the hem just once (like you see below), or you can roll them twice (as seen on the site). For size reference, I’m wearing my regular size 4. If you want a more generous fit, size up 1.
On Wednesday I shared this eyelet top in a mirror selfie, but it’s so cute I thought it deserved some real shots as well.
Look how cute the sleeves are!
This white eyelet top is a perfect summer top! White eyelet is so hot right now. It’s a classic of course, but it’s experiencing quite the comeback, even though it was never really gone. For size reference, I’m wearing a small, but it’s a little tight across the chest.
I love these wedges so much that I own them in this raffia and in the tan suede. What can I say? I love the style, and they are so comfy. I do recommend sizing up a 1/2.
It’s a great summer look.
5 MINUTE SUMMER BEAUTY ROUTINE
Y’all know I’ve been doing a monthly beauty post with Nordstrom this year, and I’ve really enjoyed them! I typically get lots of great beauty questions after a post, and lately I’ve had several people ask me for just a really bare bones summer makeup routine.
So today I’m sharing the handful of steps I complete when I’m not doing full make-up.
I would say this routine takes me under 5 minutes, and I’m ready to walk out the door.
A tinted moisturizer, some color for my lips and cheeks, and a simple eye makeup routine and I’m ready to go! (Today I’m sharing products I use from Nordstrom, but I also have some favorites I use from Amazon….I’ll highlight those on another day!)
There are many great sun protection products at Nordstrom, but you’re looking at my 2 very favorites right here (both Supergoop products). And after receiving the other product as a sample awhile back, I’ve been incorporating it into my routine too.
First of all, every single morning after I brush my teeth, I apply the Unseen Sunscreen (or the elta MD tinted moisturizer). It’s a step I NEVER MISS.
The Unseen Sunscreen IS AMAZING. I used it for the very first time last summer, and I became an immediate fan. It’s weightless, invisible, scent free, and gives incredible coverage and protection for your face. My skin absorbs it very quickly (like IMMEDIATELY!) and there is NO TRACE of it. It’s not oily or greasy, it gives a matte finish, and it doesn’t leave any white residue behind either. I think it goes on like a primer! It’s velvety in texture and it totally just glides on your skin, both under and even over your makeup. Also, from reading reviews it seems it’s awesome for people with super sensitive skin. I’m telling you, the product is absolutely incredible.
I used to only use Supergoop Glow Screen as my “foundation” when I knew I was going to be in the sun for a prolonged period of time.
I’ve come to love the product so much that I’m now wearing it every single day that I apply make-up in the spring and summer. I love the color, the glow, and the level of coverage it gives! And please don’t let the “GLOW” in the name scare you. It’s very subtle and just really pretty! And the SPF is just a huge bonus.
If I want a little more color, I’ve been combining a bit of the Body Blur with the Glow Screen. Listen, I know the Body Blur is a body product, I’m just telling you what I do. Ha! 🙂 I received it as a sample years ago, and it works perfectly well on my face too.
This is like the 3rd or 4th time I’m talking about the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Face Palette on the blog BECAUSE IT’S AWESOME.
If you recall, I even talked about it in my LET’S TALK EYES post because I use some of the colors for an all over eyeshadow as well. Listen, I’ve been using this palette for blush, highlighter, AND eyeshadow for many many months now.
Isn’t the palette GORGEOUS?!? I was sold when I realized it included a blush, a highlighter, and a bronzer. And then when I learned the products are supposed to mimic the effects of ambient lighting, I couldn’t throw it in my cart fast enough. It really does provide soft and beautiful color and highlighting.
I use a brush similar to this one when applying the blush, the highlighter, and what I’m using as a neutral eyeshadow from the below palette. It makes it so easy to apply the face color with the large side of the brush, and then just flip it over to the smaller side to apply the eyeshadow. I love how this 1 palette and this 1 brush covers so many different applications!
This palette streamlines so many steps and is perfect for a simple routine.
I really love a shiny lip. I’m not into the matte lip look at all, and you will always find me wearing a gloss. In fact, I often wear just a gloss, but even if I’m wearing lipstick I’m always wearing a gloss over it (even if it’s just clear). The Juicy tubes lip gloss gives me a super shiny lip and it is SO hydrating! This is another product I actually ordered in preparation for my GET THE GLOW post that I think is going to go live next month. It’s a perfect neutral shade and shine to wear as a natural look (with a hint of color) with a (faux) tan!
When I’m doing a reallllllly simple routine, I only do the eyebrow pencil and the mascara. If I have a little bit more time, I’ll add in the eyeliner and the cream eyeshadow.
Idole mascara / Stila Eyeliner / Trish McEvoy Cream Eyeshadow / Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Long Wear Brow Pencil
I’ve mentioned several times how I only recently started filling in my brows, and OH MY WORD at the difference it makes.
WHY DIDN’T ANYBODY TELL ME I NEEDED TO BE FILLING IN MY BROWS?
I have pretty substantial brows, so I thought I was good in the brow department, but I hadn’t realized they had started thinning. #gettingoldsucks
But WOW, filling them in makes such a difference! The tip on one side of this brow pencil allows me to draw on little brush strokes that mimic hairs, and then the little brush on the other side allows me to shape my brows and soften the marks I draw. The formula stays put until I wash my face at night, so don’t worry, you’re not going to ever look up and only have 1/2 an eyebrow. Haha! I wear Saddle.
I’ve been using this mascara for a couple of months now, AND I’M A BIG OL’ FAN. I actually ordered it specifically for April’s beauty post, but it’s now one of the only two mascaras I ever use. Prior to last month’s post I’ve never really had a mascara I loved, and I felt like I needed a mascara I loved for the “Let’s Talk Eyes” post. I’m happy to report that now I have a mascara I LOVE! I really love the Benefit mascara too.
This mascara has 13,700 reviews, and 75% of them are 5 STARS, so I’m not the only who is a fan.
The curved brush pushes up and fans out my lashes, and it boosts volume, length and curl.
Okay, so this is a product that I bought a couple of years ago. I remember liking it a lot, but for some reason I stopped using it. WELL. I’m now using it every day. It makes such a difference and gives my makeup amazing staying power in the stupid Texas heat! It only takes seconds to apply, and the pay-off is HUGE. I highly recommend this product.
I think I’ve been screaming and shouting about my new perfume since January, and I know a ton of you have totally gone out on a limb, trusted me, and bought this without ever smelling it.
AND EVERYBODY LOVES IT!
If you can’t get to a store to sample, it might be worth the risk. That’s how much I love it.
I hope you found a beauty product or two you would like to try! I love my summer makeup routine!
SHORTS ON SALE
Okay, ladies! I was clicking around on my own site yesterday, and I found that lots of the shorts that I’ve highlighted over the last couple of months are NOW ON SALE!
My MUST HAVE shorts (that I named a MUST HAVE several years ago now) are NOW ON SALE! More on the shorts in a minutes
I’m IN LOVE with this embroidered blouse. I love EVERYTHING about it. I love the longer sleeves, I love the crochet trim on the sleeves and the hem, I love the embroidery on the body and the sleeves, I love the neckline, I LOVE IT ALL. I’m wearing a small here, but it’s tight across my chest, so I already ordered a medium because I’d like a little more room and a bit more length. It’s feminine and has a perfect little swingy fit. It also comes in plus size HERE. There aren’t many mediums left, so get while the gettin’ is good!
It’s made to be worn out (with no half tuck) because of the crochet trim on the bottom. You can see that the top is on the shorter side, so it might not be long enough for you if you have a long torso. (But to be honest, if you have a long torso but no boobs, you’ll still probably be fine. Haha!)
I’ve had these shorts for about 5 years now, and I’m still reaching for them. Y’all know that this year I went on a quest for some longer shorts, and I did find a couple pairs that I love… but I still reach for these every so often! I used to wear a 27 in them, but now I prefer the more relaxed fit of the 28.
The rattan bag is an oldie but goodie from Amazon! It’s so fun, and it’s a great medium size.
You might remember that I went on the hunt for a longer pair of denim shorts back in the spring. I started realizing that my beloved must have shorts were often too short for me for certain occasions, so I went on the hung for some alternatives.
I think these roll cuff denim shorts are a great option! And now they are 33% OFF!
These soft-washed shorts are cut to enhance your shape with Ab-solution technology that slims, shapes and lifts in all the right places.
- 5″ inseam; 22″ leg opening; 9″ front rise; 14″ back rise (size 8)
- Zip fly with button closure
- Five-pocket style
- Partially lined
- 83% cotton, 16% polyester, 1% spandex
If you’ll check out the shorts in the picture below, I have them turned up 2 hems on the left and 1 time on the right. I like both lengths. These are very similar to the shorts I highlighted in the picture above, but the wash on these is just a bit darker and don’t have quite a much give in the waist. For size reference, I’m wearing my regular size 4.
I went out on a limb with these, but I’m actually totally digging these long denim shorts. And they are now 40% OFF!
Keep it kicked back in delicately destructed denim shorts done in a comfy longer length and designed with the brand’s slimming system built right in.
- 19″ inseam; 10″ leg opening; 10″ front rise; 15″ back rise
- 83% cotton, 16% polyester, 1% spandex
These are soooooooooo long that they actually hit just right above my knee. And I’ve gotta say, these were the biggest surprise of the haul for me. I thought I wasn’t going to like them on me at all, but I think they’re so cool. I see them styled with a basic tee, converse, and a hat. Wouldn’t that be so cute? I’m wearing my regular size 4.
These big pocket lighter wash have a bit of a retro vibe, and I think they are so fun. These are 40% OFF too!
Heavy fading and raw hems add a casual look to these shorts that flatter with ‘Ab’-solution powermesh panels to shape and lift in all the right places.
- 4 1/2″ inseam; 22 1/2″ leg opening; 10″ front rise; 15″ back rise
- 83% cotton, 16% polyester, 1% spandex
The 4 1/2″ inseam on these is obviously just a bit shy of the 5″ sweet spot I talked about, but I still think they are plenty long on me. I’m wearing my regular size 4 here, but I need the size 6s. My tummy is definitely my area that’s the hardest to fit, and the wide waistband on these shorts was a bit uncomfortable. I think the 6s will give me the extra room I need for some comfort.
These shorts are super popular and DANGIT I wish they worked on me. They are too tight in the waist for me (again, my tummy is my problem area), but I love them so much! And now they are 40% OFF!
I have and love these shorts, but I couldn’t find a picture of me in them!
Another pair of white shorts for 33% OFF! These are from Wit and Wisdom!
And I know I just introduced these this week, but they are NOW ON SALE! Please know that I have no idea when things are going to go on sale. If I did, I’d tell you to hold off on buying things!
These paper bag shorts are now 40% OFF! I have the look of a medium weight linen, but they have a good amount of stretch in them, which makes them both flattering and comfortable. I’ve tried several different paper bag waist shorts in the past, but they have never fit me correctly. THESE DO! For size reference, I’m wearing my regular size 4. The belt is removable if belts aren’t your thing, but I really like it.
This floral blouse is so pretty and all of the little details are so feminine.
I’ve got another look with you for the paper bag shorts! This muscle tee (which is actually more of a light sweatshirt material) looks awesome with these high waisted shorts. It’s got an elastic hem, and you can see here how I folded the elastic under.
It’s a really cool look, and I’m happy to be in shorts that aren’t denim shorts.
MORE SALE ITEMS
I first showed y’all my new jelly sandals back in April!
The color that I got isn’t on sale, but several other colors are now 33% OFF! And get this, they come in kid’s sizes too (also on sale)!
Now listen, I’m not going to wear these if I’m going to be walking all over town. They will mostly be pool and beach shoes, but they are PERFECT for the pool and beach.
They only come in 1/2 sizes. I’m a 6 1/2, and the 7s were too big. The 6s are perfect on me.
If you were alive in the 80s, jelly sandals were probably a huge part of your summer life. Ahhh, the memories.
Kiwi, turquoise, lilac, limencello, and peach are ALL ON SALE!
My Franco Sarto sandals are 29% OFF. The leather is really beautiful, and I really appreciate the padded footbed. Very comfy and true to size.
My short sleeved sweatshirt is ONLY $20.93 right now! It doesn’t have great reviews, but I LOVE IT. It’s a perfectly relaxed fit and a very light sweatshirt material. I’m constantly reaching for mine! For size reference, I’m wearing a medium. It is very generously cut, so a small fits, but I prefer the slouchier fit of the medium.
This is a dress that didn’t quite work for me, but I think it’s going to be awesome for a lot of y’all. For size reference, I’m wearing a small. The small was tight in the chest, but if I sized up to a medium, it would be too long and too big everywhere else.
The floral pattern is very sweet, I love the split v neck and the double ruffle sleeves, and you know I’m always going to be a fan of an elastic waist. I typically prefer shorter dresses, but I actually like the length of this one. This dress would be great for church, graduation, a shower, or even a wedding if styled appropriately.
And it just went 40% OFF!
