5 Fabulous Summer Outfits

I’ve got 5 outfits for y’all today. They are outfits that will have you ready for all sorts of different events/occasions this summer. And everything you are seeing today are items that I highly recommend. From the shorts, to the blouses, to the sandals, to the dresses, to the jewelry, I LOVE IT ALL.

LACE TRIM SHIFT DRESS

Let’s kick things off with a fabulous dress.

Y’all know I love a shift dress. In fact, if I had to choose one item of clothing to wear for the rest of my life, it would most likely be some type of shift dress. I like how they’re usually a one and done outfit, I like how they aren’t body conscious, and I like how they are always comfy. They are figure flattering to my body (they highlight the legs and not the tummy), and they typically can work for all different sorts of occasion.

This shift dress has pretty lace trim at the yoke and sleeves. I like how the sleeves are fitted up top, and then they transition to a large ruffle on the hem. The dress is a crisp cotton, but it’s still got a little bit of give to it. It also comes in tan, a soft green, and a coral. This might seem kind of random, but I think that the tan dress would also be great to wear to any type of western themed event you might have (like a charity event or rodeo). Style it with cowboy boots, and you will be good to go!

For size reference, I’m wearing a medium. If not for a large chest, I would prefer the fit of the small. The body of the dress is cut very generously.

Styled with wedges and a clutch, this outfit could be appropriate for a baby shower, a ladies’ luncheon, or even a day wedding. I’ll also be wearing it to church.

You can see in this picture how the lace on the yoke is pretty open, so although a nude bra will work, a strapless bra will be your best bet. (Click HERE for the best strapless in the world. You will never have to tug on it, it totally stays put, and you might even wear it when a strapless bra isn’t required. Because it’s just that good.)

Oh! I almost forgot to mention that the dress has pockets. And who doesn’t love pockets.

These white hoop earrings have been on repeat this summer. They go with everything.

I’m sorry to say that the cutch is no longer available, but I’ll continue to look for a similar one and let you know when I find one.

The bracelets are some tried and true favorites that are perfect for summer styling.

This would be a great dress to have in your closet for all different sorts of occasions. If styled with a big tote and flat sandals, it would be much more casual.

These tan suede wedges have been my GO TO wedges since early this spring. I actually own them in this tan suede as well as the woven raffia (that you’ll see later in this post). They are very comfy and perfectly neutral (both the tan sueded and the raffia), so you will find that they go with just about any outfit you can think of. I recommend sizing up a 1/2 size.

TIE FRONT BLOUSE AND DENIM SHORTS

I wear a basic tee and denim shorts a lot during the summer, but sometimes I want something more than just a tee.

This pretty little tie front blouse is just what I was looking for.

It’s a pretty floral design with a perfectly relaxed fit. I will be keeping it tied for sure, because as you’ll see on the site that when left untied, it’s very low cut. It drapes beautifully and is very easy to wear. I love a longer sleeve, so this top really delivers.

For size reference, I’m wearing a small. It runs quite large, so I would suggest sizing down.

Shorts are definitely a staple in my wardrobe, and denim shorts are at the top of the rotation. These shorts are from Wit and Wisdom, our favorite denim brand! They have the AbSolution technology that we all know and love, which means they are super comfy and crazy flattering. You can roll up the hem just once (like you see below), or you can roll them twice (as seen on the site). For size reference, I’m wearing my regular size 4. If you want a more generous fit, size up 1.

This blouse would also look great with my boot cut jeans in fall, as well as my white jeans right now.

FLORAL DUSTER

I’m not normally a duster girl, but I’m kind of obsessed with this duster. I definitely stepped out of my comfort zone when I grabbed it, but I think it’s different and fun. And I like to mix things up every so often.

And listen, if you aren’t a duster girl, then wear it as a swimsuit cover up! It would be SO CHIC as a cover up!

This is the classic Madewell transport tote (I have it in the cognac leather too), but it got a summer makeover in this adorable natural straw weave. It’s lined with a sturdy material, and it has one interior pocket. I’m so happy that the handle is long enough to easily carry it on your shoulder, because nothing drives me crazier than a bag that continually slips off my shoulder because the strap is too short.

These are the shorts I named must have shorts around 3-4 or so years ago now. They are a short short with a 3″ inseam, and my goodness I’ve worn them more times that I can count. Seriously, I think they were like the only shorts I wore all last summer. And the summer before that. #andthesummerbeforethat

This year I decided I needed longer shorts too (as seen in the outfit above), but I still find myself wearing these on occasion. I have these in both a 27 and a 28. They both fit, but I prefer the fit of the 28 not only for the extra room but also for the extra bit of length.

These sandals are ones I’ve owned for years now, and I still love them. They are a great cognac color and true to size.

FLORAL BLOUSE AND PAPER BAG WAIST SHORTS

Do you want to wear shorts, but need an option other than denim? These shorts might be just what you’re looking for, but more on them in a minute.

First let’s talk about this gorgeous floral blouse. The patterns and colors are so pretty, and all of the little details are so feminine. The collar has a tiny ruffle, the sleeves are on the longer side and gathered, there’s some smocking across the chest, and tiny little soft pleats all across the back. There are 4 colors/patterns to choose from, and I love the one with pinks, purples, and blues too. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

Now let’s talk about these shorts.

I think they are fabulous.

They have the look of a medium weight linen, but they have a good amount of stretch in them, which makes them both flattering and comfortable. I’ve tried several different paper bag waist shorts in the past, but they have never fit me correctly. THESE DO! For size reference, I’m wearing my regular size 4. The belt is removable if belts aren’t your thing, but I really like it.

Shorts and a top, but make it dressier.

EMBROIDERED DRESS

I’ve shown this embroidered shift dress in a mirror selfie before, but here it is in all its glory!

The fabric is lightweight and kind of gauzy, which makes it summer perfection. The contrasting trim on the sleeves and hem is so cute, and I’m again thrilled with the longer sleeve link. It’s fully lined, so you don’t have to worry about it being see thru. If you’re an Aggie, you DEFINITELY need this dress. I’m not an Aggie, but I needed it too.

The neckline is deeper than I’m used to, but I’m making it work.

The embroidery work is gorgeous, and the little rick rack trim on the hem and sleeves is such a nice design touch.

And look at the jewelry! I’m head over heels over these butterfly pieces.

I’ll be wearing this dress with flat sandals all around town on hot summer days. I’ll wear it with wedges to church and other events.
