It’s Friday, so y’all know what that means! It’s time to link up with Erika and Andrea to let everybody know what some of my favorite things are right now!

SWEATSHIRT TUNIC AND LEGGINGS
I showed you this tunic sweatshirt with shorts last week and commented on how it was terrible with shorts but how it would be perfect with leggings. See? I was so right. It’s PERFECT with leggings. It also comes in a stripe, a light pink camo, and several solids. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium, but I’m exchanging for a small. It should still be plenty long and roomy enough for leggings.
So let’s talk about the leggings. Officially, they are called High Waist Power Flex Leggings – With Tummy Control. They are FANTASTIC. In fact, when I asked on facebook about doing an Amazon haul last year, several people messaged me saying that I definitely needed to try these leggings. Well, they were right. They’re awesome. I’m so glad y’all suggested them, because I never would have found them on my own! There are soooooooooo many leggings to choose from on Amazon. In fact, I ordered 2 other pairs, but these were definitely the best. They are high waisted, have a big panel like the Zella high waisted leggings, and they suck you in while still allowing you to breathe. It says they promote both compression and support, and they are not see thru at all. I’m wearing a small in the leggings and love the fit.
Click HERE for all the different legging lengths that are available.
tunic sweatshirt/ leggings / slip on sneakers (06702 black)
And these mesh sneakers are freaking fantastic. Let’s review for those who haven’t seen me talk about them before: I’m typically a 6-6/12, and the 6s were good for me in these. Some get their regular size
These sneakers are like no other sneakers I’ve ever had. They almost feel like a thick and tight sock when wearing them, but they are obviously shoes because of the soles and the tread on the bottom. Tons of readers have them now and RAVE about them. One reader said she “wore them all over Europe with no pain” and another said that she “pops them in the washing machine and they come out perfectly“. Another said that she wears them without socks “but they never get stinky like her Converse“. All really good information, right?
They come in TONS of colors and go on easily with just a little tug on the tabs in the back.
They have OVER 10,000 5 Star Reviews, and the price point is $32.99. INCREDIBLE. I wanted to show you the stock photo so you could see the detail on the design of the exact pair of black ones I have.

LOUNGE SETS FROM AMAZON
It’s 2020 y’all…so I’ve got some more pajama sets coming at ya! All 3 I’m about to show you are great, and all 3 are from Amazon!
This tie dye set is soft, comfy, and all sorts of fun. The top is a little bit cropped on me, but it doesn’t show tummy or anything. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
And pretty much nothing says 2020 like a pair of tie dye pajamas.
This leopard pajama set is kind of velvety on the outside and kind of silky on the inside. It’s sooooooooooo soft. The cuffs, the neck, and the bow (not functional, just for looks) are all a satin type material. These shorts are a little bit longer than most shortie pajama sets I’ve tried, so that might appeal to some of you! For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
leopard velvet pajama set (BW leopard)
This is the set I ended up keeping for myself. It’s SO DANG CUTE! I love the adorable pattern, I love the comfy fit, and I’ve already worn it at morning car pool on more than 1 occasion. Haha! For size reference, I’m wearing a medium (but a small would have been fine on me in this one).
FYI, I did modify these a bit. They had a faux drawstring on the shorts that was realllllllly long and looked like an old shoestring. I took my cuticle scissors and cut the tiny little threads that held the tie on the shorts right off.
I LOVE THIS SET.

ANTHROPOLOGIE FINDS
Do you remember the red and pink blouse I got from Anthro during the Summer? It was way more than I generally spend on a top, but I loved it so much that I ended up wearing it wayyyyyyyyy more than any other tops in my closet. So, it was WORTH IT.
With that top, I realized that if I truly love something, I can totally justify spending more.
So, that’s the theme I’m going with when wearing this top. I love the pattern and the swingy fit, and I know it will be in constant rotation. It is on the thin side, so it might not be a bad idea to wear a nude cami with it. I’m wearing a small, and it’s still an oversized fit.
It’s FABULOUS.
leopard blouse / statement earrings /dainty necklace / elisa necklace / frayed hem ankle jeans / flat neutral booties
This one doesn’t give me quite as much sticker shock, but it’s still knocking on the $100 door. BUT WAIT! I just realized it’s ON SALE for ONLY $58.80 (for a limited time),
And it’s CAMO! And it has PUFF SLEEVES!
It’s not cropped, but it’s not long either. It will be best worn out, but if you have a super long torso, it will probably be shorter than you’d like. For size reference, I’m wearing a small. It’s like a sweatshirt material and cozy!
camo puff sleeve top / statement earrings / pendant necklace / frayed hem ankle jeans / flat neutral booties
Anthro is actually having a FALL EVENT, and you can find a great selection of Fall items for up to 40% OFF HERE.
I’m considering this cashmere cowl neck sweater. I’m in love with the “honey” color, and it’s $68 OFF right now!

HELLO FRESH
A couple of years ago we used Hello Fresh for a bit AND WE LOVED IT. And then we stopped doing it. I have no idea why, because the food was DELICIOUS and it’s obviously sooooooooooo convenient.
Well, when Chris was out of town last weekend, Carter and I thought it would be fun to order some meals for us to cook together. We hopped online, looked through the 20 or so choices for that time period, and then picked our favorites!
If you are interested in trying it for yourself, click HERE to order through my code and get $40 OFF. It’s SO EASY to start and stop weeks, so don’t worry about the “subscription” part of it. I had mine paused for a lonnnnnnng time, and then with 1 push of a button we started again. This first time back we ordered 3 boxes.
The Mozz-Stuffed Caprese Burgers were AMAZING.
And Carter cooked them all my himself. He’s VERY into cooking these days, and it’s been so much fun watching him start to learn a new skill.
He was so proud! The pups were too. He left the mozzarella and charred tomatoes off of his…
…but I went all in, and I’m so glad I did. Look at this burger!
This is what I love about Hello Fresh. If I saw this recipe in a magazine, I would skip over it simply because I wouldn’t want to buy the ingredients for the seasonings and the pesto that the recipe called for. But Hello Fresh gives you just the right amount of ingredients you need. We will definitely be ordering this box again.
Carter’s other meal pick was a steak. No surprise there. Carter LOVES a good medium rare ribeye.
And yes, he cooked the steaks all by himself. And basted them with butter LIKE A BOSS.
He wouldn’t let me do anything to help, which was so cute.
Again, so proud.
AND Y’ALL. The steaks were INCREDIBLE! We both especially loved the brown butter and sauteed onion sauce that he put on top of the steaks. YUM! (Look at Buddy’s nose at the bottom of the pic. Haha!)
And then I ordered a pasta dish for myself. Carter and Chris don’t like pasts (HUH?), but I sure do.
The Silky Sicilian Penne was BEYOND.
Sauteed mushrooms, zucchini, and cherry tomatoes in a creamy and lemony sauce? YES, PLEASE.
I ate it for 3 different meals and was just soooo happy each time. I love a great leftover.
This isn’t sponsored in any way, but remember that if you click HERE to order you can get $40 OFF!!!

BROTHERS
Carter sure does miss the boys during the day now that he’s back in school. And it’s safe to say they miss him too.

DINING ROOM RUG
I got a new dining room rug around 3 weeks ago, and I’ve received countless messages about it. I got it at HomeGoods, so that’s what I kept telling everybody who inquired about it. I mean, I saw it across the store and I immediately fell in love with it, so I’m not surprised that y’all love it too!
Well, one follower (Hi, Ashley!) asked me if I would please look for the maker on the back of the rug so she could try to track one down. I decided to try to track it down myself, and I found it!!!
Click HERE to get to my exact rug!!!
Now, I’m sorry to report that even though I found it online, it’s twice as much as I paid for it at HomeGoods. I have NO IDEA how I got so lucky. But the rug is beautiful and so well made, and I can absolutely see how it’s worth the full retail price.
My rug is the “medium” size, which means it is an 8 x 10.
Sources for other items because people are always curious:
*floral tole tray on wall (antique mall in downtown McKinney), canvas picture of dock (photograph I took at our ranch house), lamps (Weir’s), buffet (Weir’s), chandelier (antique mall in downtown McKinney), red checked upholstered chairs on each side of buffet (I bought them at an estate sale probably 20 years ago now! They were lime green and I had them recovered. I still love them), blue box on table (antique mall in downtown McKinney), dining room table and chairs (Stacy Furniture)
And here’s my sweet little view from the dining room as I was taking these pictures a couple of weeks ago. This boy really impressed us with his ability to adjust and adapt with the virtual learning!

MIDDLE SCHOOL
Carter has now been doing in person learning for just a little over a week now. AND HE’S ROCKING IT. I was a nervous wreck FOR HIS FIRST DAY OF MIDDLE SCHOOL (HOW?!?), but Carter was cool as a cucumber. We were sitting in the parking lot with some friends on the first day (we might have arrived a tad bit early to school), and I was so relieved to be looking at a smiling face before he was walking in for the first time.

THINGS I HAVE MY EYE ON
This color block poncho is speaking to me.
I’m low key dying over this vintage rose UGG jacket.
And how gorgeous are these Zella high waisted leggings. I know it’s weird to be calling leggings “gorgeous”…but if the shoe fits…

NEED A SOFA RECOMMENDATION
Okay, I need y’alls help. The other day, Chris casually said, “What would you think about getting a new couch?”
UM.
I think I would love to do that more than just about anything in life.
That’s what I think about it.
But here’s the deal, I don’t know where to start.
We want another sectional, and Chris would love for a couple of the seats to recline, but I don’t want it to look like it’s a reclining sofa. Pottery Barn has some that are GORGEOUS, but they are pretty dang expensive, so I want to make sure that they hold up beautifully.
Please sound off in the comments. If you have a sectional sofa that you LOVE, please drop your recommendation below. Bonus points if a couple of the seats recline.
I of course love this one, but my goodness it’s $5500 – $7500! Still, if you have this one and have feelings about it, please tell me. And please GUSH about it if you love it, because Chris is going to need some serious convincing with a price tag like that. But if you hate it, I need to know that too! It’s time for brutal honesty, ladies.

That’s all for today! Have a wonderful weekend with your people!

We have the kiloton sofa from Arhaus. Pricey but super cushy, deep and very comfortable. Watch out for their 40.% off sale, it helps.

Sheaffer, your house looks SO COZY and beautiful in these pictures!!!! Also, now, I’m hungry after reading…
Nicola says
We just ordered a gorgeous flexsteel sectional in the Kashmira fabric which is amazing. We have another flexsteel leather sectional in our basement that is 8 years old and in perfect condition. In my opinion, PB furniture is expensive and does not hold up well at all. Good luck finding something!
Sheaffer says
Thanks for the rec, Nicola! I will check it out!!! xoxo

The higher the hair, the closer to God! That 80s picture is sooo funny!
Janie Cox says
I bought this exact sectional last year and I can’t say that I love it. When I sat on it in the store it felt comfy, but when I got it home not so much. I didn’t upgrade the fabric and it is very rough (It didn’t feel rough in the store) so I sit on the Nordstroms soft blanket. My dog isn’t allowed on the couch but her hair somehow gets threaded In the fabric and won’t come off with a lint brush or vacuum. I have to pick it out like a splinter. Most of these problems could be the fabric I picked. It was a linen color but I can’t remember the exact name. It is a beautiful couch and I love to look at it, but that’s about it. Sorry to be so negative. Good luck with your couch hunting.
Sheaffer says
Thanks for the honest review, Janie!!!! I really appreciate it!!!
Allison Dogaer says
I am on the hunt for a sectional with recliners too so I will be following this to see if anyone has any recommendations.
And that 80’s picture gives me all the memories as I graduated high school in 1989. If you look at my yearbook we all had the same hair! Perm for life!! LOL!
Thanks for showing a longer length short. Gonna check that out in my hunt for some new lounge/PJ shorts. It’s too hot in Florida for pants.
sandi says
I graduated in 1986… at home spiral perms were the bomb! HAHA
Karin McKerahan says
We have the Sullivan sectional from Pottery Barn and we love it! We did upgrade the fabric, which can make a huge difference. The Sullivan is very deep and oversized, and easily fits 5-6 (or more) of our college-age daughter’s friends when they come over to watch a movie! Everyone who visits comments on how comfy it is. I previously had a custom sectional bought through a designer, and honestly the PB one we now have is much cozier.
Be sure to work with an in-store designer…the service is free, they aren’t on commission, and ours was patient and very happy to bring fabric sample after fabric sample to our home so we could make the best decision. Good luck!
Sheaffer says
Great tips! Thank you, Karin!!!! xoxo

Your son is so adorable!! And I’m loving your posts on comfy “soft” clothes. That’s what my kiddos have always called loungewear.
I found your beautiful rug on Overstock as well, for much less. Plus, I believe you can use a coupon code on top of that and its free shipping. You can’t beat a good wool rug. It will last forever.

Happy birthday Carter, I love the pictures of him cooking, that’s awesome!

I’m hopeful that more people will offer suggestions as I am also in the market for a new sectional. I bought a beautiful “looking” less expensive one from Star furniture about a year ago. It’s okay, but the fabric is starting to pill and it’s not very comfortable. I guess you get what you pay for? I’m willing to spend the money on a comfortable, performance fabric sofa but only if it’s worth it. Anyway …. do you follow Sarah at Life on Virginia Street? She has a few pottery barn sofas that’s she’s done reviews on.
Sheaffer says
Oh! I know Sarah! I’ll go check it out! Thanks for the rec!!! xoxo
Jennifer Maynard says
We have only had 2 couches in our married life and they both came from Macy’s. Their sofas hold up so well and are very well made! We have a sectional from there right now and I think it is the Radley, but not positive since we bought 5 years ago and it is still going strong. Plus their prices are amazing and right now are having a sale
Sheaffer says
I’ve heard Macy’s sofas are great! Will definitely be checking there. Thank you, Jennifer!
Lia says
Also have had a Macy’s sectional for more than 7 years and it still looks and feels amazing!! Everyone compliments it when they come over!
Leigh says
We have the Radley too and I love it. We have had it for about 4 years, no issues and we use it daily (5 people in the house). I love that you can configure it any way you want and the price cant be beat.
Kristi says
I received the PB Pearce Sectional (square arm) with a recliner about a month ago. My fabric is the everyday velvet and it’s wonderful! It feels so soft and cozy. So far, we love it!! The only thing I wasn’t prepared for was that I needed an electrical outlet to plug in the recliner. Clearly, I haven’t had a recliner in 20+ years. I just thought you would sit in it and push back. ? Oh well! Like you, I didn’t want to see a recliner and you would never know this one is there. It really is a beautiful sectional! I especially like the square arms.
Sheaffer says
Great information! Thank you, Kristi!!!
Kris says
Wait for the buy more save more sale. The more you spend the more you save, plus join their free rewards program and you earn $$$ to spend. You probably already know theses things but if not there you go. I have had a pottery barn sofa for 4 years and it has held up beautifully. Customer service was amazing when I had a problem with delivery of incorrect chair and they did compensate me for the time I spent having to be home for delivery and pick up. I do not have that specific sofa.
Sheaffer says
Great to know! Thank you, Kris!!!! xoxo
Susan says
My daughter bought a Pottery Barn sectional in a linen type material. It has held up terribly. Be careful of fabric choices. She also got a Pottery Barn leather chair that shows every scuff mark on it. Very disappointing for them because as you noted, they’re not cheap!
Sheaffer says
Thanks for the info, Susan!!!
Lydia Sirugo says
We don’t have a sectional but ended up purchasing from Havertys when we were in the market for a new couch last year. They aren’t cheap (what furniture is??) but it’s beautiful, comfortable, met all of our criteria size-wise etc and has held up very well to two people and multiple fur babies. All of their pieces are very stylish, even the recliners. It’s definitely worth a gander. Trust me – we must’ve sat on EVERY couch in our tri-county area! Good luck!!
Sheaffer says
Thank you so much, Lydia! Checking into Haverty’s for sure! xoxo
Gail says
We also have a flexsteel sofa in the upstairs family room…several options to fit many tastes. We also have had great luck with Lazyboy. We’ve had a leather wingback recliner (that doesn’t look like a recliner) for over 14 years and it still looks fantastic! About 3 years ago we got rid of the Lazyboy sofa because the fabric was just no longer the style/color I wanted; however, the sofa had zero sagging, tears, etc and was in perfect condition (amazing since we got it when our 3 kids were in elementary school), so it obviously holds up very well.
Sheaffer says
Thanks for the tips, Gail! xoxo
Jessica says
Ok I’m sure you have a way.. but how do you tell your sweet dogs apart??? They are like adorable, fluffy, amazing, floofy super identical twins!!! I love when you post pics of them.. Goldens are my very favorite dog!
Sheaffer says
Hey, Jessica! Carter and Chris always know immediately (Carter is actually the best), but it sometimes takes me a minute! Buddy has a blue collar and Charlie has a red collar. And Buddy is actually quite a bit bigger (wider) and he has a black freckle on his tongue. Buddy is also wayyyyyyy needier, so he’s typically closer. 🙂 xoxo
Kellie says
We’ve been happy with our sectional from Pottery Barn. If you wait for a sale and get their credit card (rewards dollars to spend later), they can be reasonable. We’ve had ours for 6-7 years now and it’s still holding up great. We got a light color, microsuede and I would do it again! (has held up to 2 kids who are now teens + puppy/dog + we moved it cross country!)
Sheaffer says
Awesome to know! Thank you, Kellie! xoxo
Cathy says
I second La-z-boy for a reclining sectional. I always think of La-z-boy as like a grandparent’s couch, but they released some new designs a few years ago that are much nicer looking! We love our sectional from King Hickory – https://kinghickory.com/products/sectionals. You pick exactly what configuration you want and they have so many fabric choices. Instead of reclining, we went with a chaise on one end and love it!
Sheaffer says
Thank you, Cathy!!!! I’ll check it out! xoxo
Jacoba Leyenhorst says
I would also recommend LaZBoy. Their new stuff is very nice, and they do free design consultation which we thought was great. You will pay a lot more for the better fabric, though.
Sheaffer says
Okay, thank you! I’m loving all of these tips! xoxo
Kelly says
If you are anything like myself, I get bored very easy. I like to get new furniture very often. I have a neighbor who jokes that she will have it in a year. So with that being said, I was extremely shocked and surprised to learn that Big Lots sells broyhill furniture. I just bought a big sectional that I absolutely love for $749!!!! Yup, you heard me correctly. I signed up for a welcome15 coupon that came of the sofa which was on sale for $999. It brought it down to $849. They next day I happened to notice that it was on sale for $899 and they gave me the $100 difference. At that price, I don’t care if I get a new couch every couple of years!
SarahBMomof3 says
For a sectional, you should look at Ethan Allen. We bought one there about 3 years ago and love it (replaced the one had bought from there 15 years earlier). I would never call it inexpensive, but great quality. They will even come out to your house to help measure and bring the fabric swatches so you can see it in your space. I also recommend that you go ahead and spring for the extra warranty that covers tears and stains so that when your child’s friend accidentally puts his knee thru the back and tears an entire section…they come out and repair it for free 😉
Jeanie says
Happy birthday, Carter. I love the picture of you with your dogs!
Jessica Barshinger says
I also have La-Z-Boy furniture. I was very hesitant because I too thought that store was strictly for old people. I guess I’m old, ha! We’ve had great luck and they have many styles to choose from that don’t require blue hair! You might be surprised! Definitely worth looking.
Sheaffer says
Definitely going to have to swing by the La-Z-Boy store after all these recommendations! Thanks, Jessica! xoxo

I, too, am in the market for a new sectional sofa. I’ve bookmarked this option from La-Z-Boy and am encouraged after reading all these comments. I need to go and check it out in person. Good luck!!

All these comments about sectionals are so good! My biggest tip is to make sure you buy one that is Made in the USA because there is a HUGE difference in quality. King Hickory is an excellent brand and high quality for the price. The cushion quality is one component that will really make your investment last longer. Good luck with your decision!
Michelle D. says
I’ve been furniture shopping all summer for our new home. Based on all my research – Bassett and Flexsteel are the best brands for how they are made and have great warranties. You can pick your options for firmness, fabric, leg style etc. when you look at the prices online – expensive – but most furniture stores discount those prices.
Sheaffer says
Great tips, Michelle! THANK YOU!!!! xoxo

Hi Sheaffer! I love seeing pics of your home (SO cozy) and totally get your anxiety about getting a new couch. We felt the same before we got our current one! It took us ages to pick our previous couch/oversized chair… that one was olive green (turned out to be an excellent neutral color) and it took us (and took a beating) through our two boys teen years. Hubby seriously lobbied for a recliner sofa, but it took getting to a store and sitting in them before I was even interested. We’re both tall (and our kids are even taller at 6’5 and 6’3) but wanted a couch that didn’t have a deep seat – we don’t lay across the couch, we sit in the seats. *That* may be a big point to check with your family? Our current sofa is set up in an L shape with a power recliner on each end and three manual recliners and a corner piece between them. It’s definitely not comfy to lay across the seats, but massively comfy for everyone to put their feet up and watch the game. We got it at a big sofa store nearby (I think it’s actually called “The Sofa Store”?). I don’t recline often, but my husband reclines every… single… time… and loves it. I can always shoot you a pic if you want to see it. Ours is Navy, which (in our house) is a perfect background color. Probably wouldn’t work with your goldens, but the fabric is sturdy and vacuums up really well… we had yellow tabby cats when we first bought it and the fur came off easily. Best suggestion – figure out *how* you actually use your couch (lounging, sitting, sleeping, etc) and make sure the next one will be able to sustain the same activities. Our kids are “grown and flown” so, while sitting is enough for us, it might not work for you. GOOD LUCK!!
Sheaffer says
I’m so interested in this! Yes, Alison! I would love it if you sent me a picture (if it’s not too much trouble). pinteresttoldmeto@yahoo.com xoxo

Ok Sheaffer, I didn’t see this Friday post so I am behind and I hope it’s not to late. Get in the car and immediately drive to Weir Furniture 201 N, Nolen Dr. Southlake, TX. You are not that far away(40 mins) and yes there are other Weir furniture stores to buy sofas, sectionals etc. but this location is the best. Also has a GREAT outlet upstairs with deals. Also it’s across from Costco and down the street Trader Joes, and also 2 blocks away from the best Home Goods in DFW, yes the best! How do I know, it sells more merchandise $ wise than any other in the DFW area. I lived in this area for 5 years, and moved to 4 other states after that, still went back to that area many times and bought decor and merchandise and yes even lots furniture at Weir and shipped it to another state. SO HURRY, go find a female interior designer at Weir. Just ask for one back at the customer service desk or call ahead for an appointment, they will help design your new room for free and they are good. Don’t go to a sales person get a free interior designer. Weir is awesome, Christian family run company with great things and great customer service. They will help you figure out the solutions for everyone’s comfort level. I don’t live anywhere near DFW now(on West coast) and boy do I miss that area. Someday for fun I can tell you a horrible very bad, scary furniture shopping experience I had buying furniture in OK(Tulsa we lived there too), just down the street from your college ? maybe. It was so, so bad and I solved that nightmare by flying back to Southlake and going to Weir and buying my furniture and hiring a moving van to bring it to Tulsa. That ought to tell you how much I love Weir! Good luck, now make an appointment and happy shopping! Wish I still lived in Southlake, still one of my favorite places after San Diego that we have lived.

Hi, Carly! I share your love of Weir’s. In fact, I would say 90% of the furniture in our home is from Weir’s: kitchen table, kitchen chairs, sofa, sofa table, entertainment center, dining room hutch, master bedroom bed and dresser, etc. WEIR’S IS THE BEST! But here’s the deal, I’ve never been to the Southlake location, so it sounds like I need to make that a priority! xoxo

I am late to the sofa/couch recommendations party, but here’s my 2 cents. I have a Lee Industries brand denim slip covered sofa with a matching chair and ottoman. I’ve had them since 2001. I just replaced the sofa slip cover three years ago. This particular sofa/couch can be customized to your liking as far as the fabric and the seat and back cushions filling. You’ll have to find a furniture store that carries this brand. Lee Industries is also American made. With all that said, I’m on the search for a new sofa/couch. One that’s not as deep as the one I have now. Good luck in your search.

I also meant to say that I don’t know if Lee Industries makes a reclining/sectional sofa. You can look them up online and take a look.
