Today we are taking a break from fashion, and this post is all about our Fall home!
I absolutely love sneaking little peeks into people’s homes, so if you’re like me, today’s post will be right up your alley. Grab a cup of coffee, snuggle up under a warm blanket, and settle in for lots of little peeks and hopefully a little inspiration as well.
Now, you need to know that I keep things pretty simple over here. I of course love making my home cozy and festive, but I like to do it without breaking the bank and without having to keep a ton of things in storage! And I only decorate the family room and kitchen since those are the areas that we spend most of our time in. By focusing on those two areas, I get the most bang for my buck.
And speaking of bang for your buck….
Okay, let’s get on with the tour!
OUR FALL HOME
I’m going to really let the pictures do the talking. I will of course link the items I picked up at Macy’s, and if any of the other items shown have a story, I’ll share those as well.
You’ll see today that I love to incorporate both old and new items into our home. Lots of the pieces you will see today have been collected over time. Fair warning, I love antique tins, antique tole trays, and both old and new wooden boards. #youcantsayididntwarnyou
Let’s start in the heart of the home, the kitchen!
golden retriever plate / Fall dish towels
Y’all know we love our dogs like crazy over here. So yes, I bought a golden retriever plate. I mean, there were two goldens on the plate and it looked like Fall to me with the field scene and brown floral accents. I literally could not not buy it. And great news, the entire Spode Woodland Dog collection is 50% OFF right now!
We’re 3 pictures in, and you’ve already seen 2 wooden trays.
I picked up this wooden tray with metal handles at Macy’s, and I like how it anchors the topiary, the candle, and the mini white pumpkin for this little vignette. I also use this tray for cheese boards when we have company over. But hey, when you have a tray this pretty, there’s no reason to keep it in the cabinets!
Standing in the kitchen, looking through the butler’s pantry to the dining room.
Do y’all love new dish towels as much as I do? A fresh new set of dish towels brings me way too much joy. I mean, a new dish towel or a new candle can inspire me to clean my entire house!!! Is that just me?
Standing in the butler’s pantry, looking in to the kitchen.
When it comes to wooden boards, I love them all. I love all shapes, all sizes, and all colors. I’ve found that not only do they make great display pieces that anchor little vignettes, I of course use them for serving food when needed as well.
This is the same tray that you saw above in my butler’s pantry, but it also makes the perfect appetizer board. Macy’s has a delicious selection of food products, and I put together a simple appetizer platter with some favorites.
Click HERE for the entire selection of Stonewall Kitchen products (ALL ON SALE!) that ranges from stew starters, jams and jellies, mustards, scone mixes, and everything in between. The white bowl in the back is full of the ultimate bar mix. The block of cream cheese is covered with roasted garlic onion jam in the back and the hot pepper jelly up front, and the sea salt crackers make a perfect vessel for the cream cheese and jam combos. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS.
sea salt crackers / roasted garlic onion jam / hot pepper jelly / ultimate bar mix.
I’ve found that wooden trays and cutting boards are also perfect for leaning up against a tile backsplash to both create height and hide electrical outlets. My wooden boards are a mix of old and new, all purchased at Macy’s or antique stores over the years.
Click HERE for Macy’s selection of wooden boards and serving pieces. There are lots of beautiful pieces to choose from, and they are always adding new products online. I really love this one with the rope handles.
You first saw this wood tray and wire bread basket when I shared the fantastic Campfire Brie recipe I’d found on Pinterest back in August. If you like ooey gooey cheese, fresh basil and tomatoes, balsamic glaze, and crusty bread….click HERE for a great recipe and some pretty food pictures!
For Fall, I took the bread basket, and I lined up some miniature pumpkins inside. Easy and festive.

You first saw the knife set when I shared our simple steak recipe with y’all this summer. Click HERE to see how Chris grills a perfect boneless Ribeye steak every single time.

The little green wooden stand and the painted paper mache bowl are Round Top finds. Every time I look at them, I think of the wonderful weekend I spent with my friends in a quirky little bed and breakfast in the hill country.
I think my kitchen table is my favorite Fall corner in my home. I layered table cloths on top of each other (I love to layer my clothes and my home accessories), and the burlap table runner added some great texture. This runner is 40% OFF right now, and then an additional 20% OFF with the code SHOP.
I gathered pieces I already had around the house, and I piled some fresh Fall flowers and some colorful pumpkins in together to make a perfectly festive centerpiece. I love how it looks rustic and isn’t too fussy.
The red bucket is a sap bucket I picked up at Round Top, and the wooden stand and the tall candlestick (topped with a mini orange pumpkin) are both from Magnolia.
My light fixture is no longer available, but I sure do love this one.

I purchased the chalkboard a couple of months before we moved into this house. It was about a day after Chris told me that I needed to “stop buying stuff for the new house until we are actually in the new house.”
Oops.
I mean, I think it was clear that he couldn’t have been talking about this amazing chalkboard. I clearly needed it. I’ve looked for similar chalkboards for years to share with y’all, and I’ve never found a great one. I’ll keep looking, but there are some fun chalkboards at Macy’s HERE.

When I saw that this pumpkin canvas had one of my favorite Bible verses on it, it flew into my cart. And it’s 40% OFF right now!

You can shop by size, style, or price.
This metal and wood tiered stand (40% OFF RIGHT NOW!) will remain on display all year long, but it gets dressed up with fresh mini pumpkins and colorful squash for Fall. And we always have plenty of Honeycrisp apples on hand. I mean, really…are there any other kind?

In addition to looking like Fall, I love our home to smell like Fall. This Rustic Pumpkin candle fills up the house with a yummy scent and has us wanting to snuggle up and get cozy. The tin it comes in is darling too.

The red box was another antique store find. I love it all year, but I love it the most when I fill it with poinsettias for Christmas!

I love having live plants in our home, but every so often, I also feature a store bought topiary. Click HERE to browse Macy’s vast selection of topiaries in all shapes and sizes.

This gather pillow (on sale and an additional 20% OFF) fits in perfectly with the other pillows we already had, and I know some of you might be interested in this Thankful pillow as well.
During the cooler months, I love having baskets piled high with blankets that are easily accessible for snuggle sessions on the couch. Click HERE for Macy’s throw blankets.
The light pink blanket started up in our guest bedroom (click HERE for the guest bedroom refresh I did last year), but it now lives downstairs.

Pillows are a great and a relatively inexpensive way to add texture and Fall color to a space. Click HERE for Macy’s impressive selection of throw pillows.
Our sectional is a combination of tweed and leather. I couldn’t find one like it to link, but you can click HERE to browse Macy’s sectional selection.

textured mustard pillow / gather pillow / rust pillow with pom poms
We love our round coffee table, and I’ve linked a similar one below.

This is a high traffic area, and the rug that we bought when we moved in the house 5 years ago needed replacing. I searched online, this was the only rug I ordered, and it worked!
And this rug is an INCREDIBLE VALUE right now! It’s 50% OFF, and then it’s an additional 15% OFF with the code SHOP. The code brings this $223 rug all the way down to $95! Many of their rugs are on super sale, so click HERE to browse their vast rug selection!

I hope you enjoyed the little peeks into our home today!
And I hope you picked up some ideas here and there to help cozy your homes up for Fall.
If only my home would always be as clean as it is when I’m photographing it for the blog.
In closing, I thought I would include some pics of the pups enjoying the space.

I tell ya, these two are the coziest and snuggliest fellas you could ever imagine.

Beautiful home – so cozy and colorful. Thanks for including pics of the pups. So adorable. Did I spy a framed pic of Scout (bless him) on one of your tables by the topiary tree? I miss my golden Ann even after 3 years.
Sheaffer says
Good eye, Laurie! Yes, that’s sweet Scout! We still miss him too. Chris even had a dream last week that all 3 of our boys were playing together. xoxo
Nicole says
Your home is beautiful and I love the way you decorate!! Look forward to your blog every day!
Sheaffer says
Awwwww! Thanks, Nicole! xoxo
Cathy says
So cozy! Now I have to ask- your sectional sofa looks like mine except mine is all leather and completely beaten up due to having three boys, a dog and a cat lounging on it all the time. Was yours originally all leather and you had the cushions covered? It looks great!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Cathy! No, we bought it like this! xoxo
Eve says
Love love your house! I wish you could come help me;)
Sheaffer says
Thank you, Eve! 🙂
Ashley says
Your house is lovely – definitely warm and cozy, perfect for fall. BUT…the puppies steal the show. I LOVE them!! They are the most beautiful goldens I think I have ever seen. I always enjoy seeing them in your pictures. Would you mind sharing where you got them? I apologize if you have already gone through this and I missed it.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Ashley! Thank you so much! If you direct message me on instagram or e-mail me at [email protected], I will share the information with you! xoxo

Addison says
I LOVE your home posts! It’s such a cozy and welcoming space. Fun fact: the Stonewall Kitchen headquarters is in my little coastal town in Maine so I especially loved that part! 🙂
Sheaffer says
Thank you, Addison! And thank you for always reading and leaving comments. I so appreciate when readers engage on a regular basis!!! xoxo
Beth says
Really beautiful, I am now inspired to “fall up” our house. Someone beat me to the dishtowel question (thanks), but I have one more. I see no cabinet hardware. How does that work for you? I love the clean look. Thanks for sharing.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Beth! I like the way it looks too, but we’ve actually thought about adding it. We are constantly dealing with smudges and nicks. xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Susan says
Your home is beautiful! I think you should add interior designer to your resume!! It looks very warm and inviting. 🙂 And your pups… well, there aren’t enough words to describe how adorable they are!!
Sheaffer says
Thanks so much, Susan! Warm and inviting are such great compliments! xoxo
Tara C says
Your home is beautiful! What color are your kitchen cabinets? In some of the photos they look black; in others navy. Your dogs are adorable.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Tara! They are black! And thank you! xoxo
Genevieve says
Can you tell me how you put up the decorative tray above your stove- is it held by suction cups?
Also, can you tell me where you purchased your beautiful chalkboard at? I’ve never seen one like that- it’s beautiful!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Genevieve! I’m using sticky velcro to hold up the tray! My chalboard was from Homegoods. xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Vida says
Love your home….and your Goldies! Are they hard on your floors?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Vida. Yes, they are very hard on our floors. 🙁 But they are definitely worth it! 🙂 xoxo
Jessica M says
Love the pics! Do you recall where you got your dining room chairs? Xoxo
Sheaffer says
Thank you, Jessica! The dining room chairs are from Stacy furniture, and the kitchen chairs are from Weir’s. xoxo
Julie Toppins says
Is there a link to your specific kitchen rug? I love it! Your house looks so cozy!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Julie. There’s not. I’m so sorry. 🙁
Laura says
Everything looks fabulous!!! I was wondering where did you get your console table from and does it fold out to be a table that you can sit at?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Laura! It’s from Weir’s. It does fold out, but it would be a little high for regular kitchen height chairs xoxo
Cortny says
Love all of your pics! Do you recall where you purchased the dark floral trays on your counters?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Cortny! I’ve been collecting them from antique stores or buying them on ebay for over 10 years! Thanks for the sweet words. xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Tracy says
Hi! Your home is beautiful!!! Where did you buy your tv console? I love it!
Tracy
Sheaffer says
Hi, Tracy! We got it about 6 years ago from Weir’s! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Deena says
You’re house is lovely and love the look of the sectional but have a question. I keep very few pillows on mine because my husband will move even the smallest one. Do you keep yours that way when using it?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Deena! So my husband rarely sits on the couch. He had a back injury 10 years ago (he actually broke his neck and his back – he’s seriously lucky to be alive!!!! thank you, God!), and it’s more comfortable for him to sit in “his chair”. When he does sit on the couch, he absolutely moves the pillows. Haha!!!
