Just like many of you, I absolutely love decorating for Christmas. Each and every year, I get such joy making my home festive for my family during the Christmas season. There’s just something magical about Christmas decorations and all of the memories and activities associated with them. This year I added some new decorations, and I’m so excited to share them with you! Today I’m working with Macy’s and Shopstyle today to bring you a festive holiday home tour!
And great news! The Macy’s 30% off Friends and Family Sale is happening now! So with the code FRIEND you can receive 30% OFF your purchase! And almost everything I’m talking about today was already on sale, so now that it’s another 30% OFF, we’re talking INCREDIBLE DEALS!
We’ll actually just be focusing on our family room and kitchen today. In an effort to make the holidays a bit more simple, I decided to just decorate the main two areas that we spend most of our time in. I loved the results.
There’s pretty much nothing I love more than being cuddled up on the couch during the Christmas season with my family. Stockings are hung, a fire is typically going, and twinkle lights give a glow to everything. But we’ll get to the family room in a minute…let’s start in the kitchen! I really enjoyed adding new little touches around the house this year, and I found lots of cute little goodies for the kitchen.
I grew up with my mom pulling a nutcracker collection out every year at Christmas, but I’ve never had any of my own. When I saw this little guy, I scooped him up immediately. I love his little pine cone hat skirt and thinks he looks so regal! Click HERE for the nutcracker. Check out all of their large selection of awesome nutcrackers HERE. I’m thinking I’m going to need to start a collection of my own!
I set out to create a cute little vignette on the other side of the kitchen, and it all started with the tray. This tray is something I will use all year long.
And it serves as the perfect station to house some festive plates and mugs!
When I spotted these dessert plates, I knew they would be great for treats during the Christmas season. I got 4, and they each have a different seasonal item on them including skis, a sled, and a holiday ready bike! The Santa mugs are HUGE and ready to be filled with monstrous portions of hot chocolate, cider, or coffee.
Speaking of hot chocolate, did you know that Macy’s carries Starbucks treats? I don’t drink coffee, but I sure do love a piping hot mug filled with this peppermint hot chocolate. Macy’s actually has lots of different treats that are wonderful for gift giving. Like Godiva chocolates and Harry and David products! And you can often find these sweet treats on sale!
This little flocked tree makes it feel like Christmas, and the cozy reindeer makes me smile. After I received this tree I hopped online and ordered 2 more. They are the perfect size to put on my buffet in the dining room. They would also look great sitting on a coffee or sofa table.
This entire vignette has us ready for cozy nights at home, just soaking up family time together.
Festive kitchen towels are an inexpensive way to freshen up a space as the season changes, and this set of 3 was great to add another pop of red to the space. I picked up the white set and the red set.
There are several little touches I added throughout the family room as well. The yummiest addition was this The Smell of Christmas reed diffuser set.
And this darling vintage Christmas truck pillow is one of my favorite finds.
On the mantle, I kind of went pom pom crazy last year. However, I couldn’t resist adding the Merry Christmas garland this year. The red and black buffalo plaid was just too dang festive!
I’d been decorating all day, but I hadn’t started the tree yet, because Carter absolutely loves decorating the tree! When he got home, I had some new Christmas pajamas waiting for him! And although we already had our tree, Macy’s actually has an impressive selection of trees in all sorts of shapes and sizes, and almost all are on sale.
I have plenty of ornaments for the tree, but some were just regular old solid color balls that I bought to just help fill the tree years ago. I wanted to replace those, so I picked up a couple of new vintage inspired ornament sets. This Christopher Radko set added some great color and sparkle to the tree. I also grabbed this set or dark silver ornaments that reminds me of mercury glass.
Speaking of sparkle, this star garland (I got 5!) added a whole lot of sparkle and whimsy to the tree! I also draped it over my chalkboard in the breakfast nook for a festive little touch. You can find Carter’s pajamas HERE.
One of our favorite traditions as a family is adding a new ornament to the tree every year for Carter. Something that signifies the year in some way.
This makes decorating the tree each year extra special because we get to take a walk down memory lane! We always write the year on the ornament, so as we are decorating, we can remember when and why we bought the ornament! This year, I got to add my own ornament to the tree! When I was on my girl’s trip in New York, we all picked up an NYC ornament at the flagship Macy’s on 5th Avenue! Macy’s has an incredible selection of ornaments that includes boxed sets, Waterford ornaments, pet ornaments, Swarovski, and even Christopher Radko!
Carter loves his new LED initial light. And if you look to the left of the red New York ornament, you can see how the glitter star garland looks on the tree!
And we of course had to take the time to grab a pic together. Because CHRISTMAS PAJAMAS. You can find my pajamas HERE and Carter’s pajamas HERE.
And then night fell, and everything was immediately sparkly and cozy.
Carter has always loved Christmas decorations, and so I always look forward to spending this time with him. When he was 2 and 3, he cried his eyes out when we had to take the tree down in January. No more tears when we have to take it down, but his eyes sure do sparkle when we get to put it all up. He was so excited about all of the new Christmas finds when he got home from school!
I hope that today’s post inspired y’all to pick up a couple of new Christmas items for your house.
Here are some of my favorite items featured in today’s post. Just click on what you are interested in!
Here’s to making our homes as cozy and as festive as they can be! Thank you to Macy’s and Shopstyle for sponsoring this post and for making it easy to get our homes Christmas ready!

Love this! My mom has a collection of 20+ nutcrackers that my dad’s mom has given her for every year they’ve been married. They seem never-ending!
Nancy says
Where do you find all of the little trays and pedestals you display items on? Specifically the little pedestal the santa mug is on and the round wood tray with the little knobs around the outside edge? I think it’s all the little extras that make your decorating so gorgeous. I love your black floral tray also. I inherited one of those from my mother.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Nancy! I got the small pedestal on a trip to Magnolia! The tray with the knobs came from a store in downtown McKinney. And thank you so much for your sweet words! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Christine says
Love that you mention your collection of ornaments, we have many for each of our children and our kids love putting up ‘their’ ornaments. I see so many people with the perfectly decorated designer tree where every ornament matches, it is refreshing to see one full of memories that still looks beautiful shared on a blog. Thanks for sharing and being real.

Love the decorations! I noticed that you still have your pup Scout’s stocking still up. We had to put our beautiful Golden down last month (she was diagnosed with an incredibly aggressive tumor), and I put her stocking up this year anyway. It made me happy to see the stocking of your sweet boy too. Merry Christmas!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Kelly! I’m so sorry for your loss. We will always keep Scout’s stocking up. He’s a part of our family forever. xoxo
Kelly says
Noted and I think we may do the same. xoxo
Carly says
I think I need to add your Nutcracker to my collections! I love it all!
Amanda Franks says
Where did you find the awesome rug in your kitchen?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Amanda! It was from Homegoods several months ago, but it was very inexpensive. Like under $40 I think. Not great quality, but we are hard on our kitchen rugs, so we switch them out often! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Caroline Klobas says
It’s taken me *all*day*long* but I finally placed a Macy’s Christmas decor order just now! I had to take advantage of the extra 30% off. Loved your home tour post today!

I love that you hung up Scout’s stocking. We lost our Golden last year, and also have a new puppy, and I just couldn’t part with Kacey’s stocking. And don’t worry…. new pup got her stocking hung up, too!
