Friday Favorites: Cute Summer Tops + Family Weekend at the Ranch

It’s Friday, so y’all know what that means!  It’s time to link up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci to let everybody know what some of my favorite things are right now! And I’ve got a ton of cute summer tops to share with you.

I’M A NORDY GIRL

This sweatshirt went 40% OFF, and I know lots of y’all are Nordy Girls too, so I thought y’all might want to know!  I loved the pink and green for myself, but it comes in two other colorways as well.  And you know I’m obsessed with my Barrington totes.  This colorway of the Savannah Tote is my new addition this year.  The light grey pattern with the pink stripes and monogram are so pretty!  This is the first time I’ve opted for the light leather, and I think it makes the bag so summery!  Remember, you can always use the code STMTSAVE10 for 10% OFF your entire Barrington order!

Also, I get asked this question all the time.  If I’m wearing socks with my Shoreline Converse (sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t), it’s most often these no show socks.  I also have some random ones from Anthro and Old Navy that work, but these are the ones that are always available.

NEW GIBSON X HI SUGARPLUM! ITEMS

Tuesday’s post was dedicated to my friend Cassie’s line launching at Nordstrom.  We were all holding our breath to see how it was received the first couple of days, and although expectations were high, they were still blown out of the water!  It’s been SUPER successful as evidenced by all of the SELL OUTS that have been happening!  I’m so happy for my friend and the fact that everybody loves the line so much, but I’m sad for those that haven’t been able to get their hands on items they wanted.

WELL….GREAT NEWS!  I placed an order myself on Tuesday and over-nighted it, so I got several new Hi Sugarplum items on Wednesday!  And this should come as no surprise, I’m OBSESSED with a couple of the new items as well.

I put together a little flat lay with this striped skirt.  You can see this tee on me with denim shorts HERE, but it looked great styled with this skirt from the line as well!

GIRLS.  LISTEN UP.

This ruffled tank is awesome.  It’s so flattering, the ruffle is adorable and goes all the way around the back (#badblogger for not taking a picture of the back – but click HERE to see it), and it comes in 7 color options.  I went with the Royal Spacedye stripe, but I love it so much that I’m going to have to grab it in another color (can’t decide between black and hot pink).  This is going to be a piece that I reach for all summer long.  I love that it’s totally casual, but the ruffle makes it a little special.

You do need to wear either a racer back or a strapless bra with this tank because of the way it’s cut in the back, so you know I reached for the best strapless bra in the history of the world!  I promise y’all that this bra is amazing.  I often wear it when I don’t even have to wear a strapless.  IT’S JUST THAT COMFY!  You won’t be tugging on it, and it just gives your boobs a nice shape (which I feel is not often the case with strapless bras).  #sorrydad  (Click HERE for 2 strapless bras for smaller busted women that have good reviews.)  I’ve had several people ask me if I think the arm holes are too big on this tank, and I don’t think they are at all!

For size reference, I’m wearing a small and it was a perfect fit.  I’m wearing a 27 in the shorts (which is regular size for me), but size down if between sizes.  The 26s fit me, but I preferred the relaxed fit of the 27s.  Size up a 1/2 size in the sandals.

And for a bit more of a dressed up vibe, I paired the ruffle tank here with white jeans and wedges.  For size reference, I’m wearing a 26 in the jeans.  I have a 27 from last year and a 26 from this year.  I wear both, but I would say to size down if between sizes.

This cami is different than anything else I have in my closet, and I think it’s going to be such a versatile piece!  I have it paired here super casually with denim shorts and flat sandals, but I think it would look great with skinny jeans and wedges and even heels.  It has adjustable straps (AWESOME!), and the tie wraps to the side which makes it so flattering!  I wasn’t sure I was going to like this particular piece, but I love it.  The little v is tacked together, so there’s no risk of any wardrobe malfunctions.

I sized up to a medium in this cami because I needed the room in the chest.  However, I could have done a small everywhere else, so if you don’t have big boobs and a massive rib cage like me, just go with your normal size.  I’ve even see a couple of other bloggers say they think it runs a touch big.

I ordered it in the palm print too because I just couldn’t decide.  I know I’m keeping the navy dot, but I’m pretty sure this palm print is going back (even though I love it).  The print is bold and fun, and if you are going on a beach vacation this summer, I’m thinking you need it for sure!  How cute would it be with white jeans and a tan!

So do you remember me in the hot pink tee on Tuesday’s post?  Well, I’ve worn that pink tee three times since getting it two weeks ago, so I thought getting another color couldn’t hurt.  I opted for this nautical stripe.  I’m wearing a small in this tee, which is true to size for me.  It’s not fitted, but it’s not boxy at all.  It’s just a nice relaxed fit.  The v neck isn’t too low, and I love the little knotted detail at the sleeves.

FAMILY RANCH WEEKEND

We headed to the ranch last weekend for Memorial Day with my sister and her family.  One day was stupid hot, but the other days were actually pretty mild and we had a great time!

On the way down I wore my trusty denim shorts and my front tie tee (size down, I’m wearing an x-small).  And because I was going on day 3 of not washing my hair, a hat of course.  I picked up this hat at a boutique on the McKinney Square last week, and I’m now a big ol’ fan of  Judith March hats.  They fit my head well and they are SO. DANG. CUTE.

Upon our arrival Thursday night, we had some time for fishing before dark!  Love this pic of 3 of my boys.

Carson came over and the boys hung out on the pier and just enjoyed life.

On Thursday night, we were treated to the most beautiful sunset.

Apparently I didn’t document anything from Friday.  Guess I was having too much fun.  🙂 I will tell you this, we ate the best steak of our lives on Friday night.

Saturday morning was a day that contained just lots of hanging around and it was glorious.  I did know that day drinking was on the agenda, so I dressed the part.  🙂   For size reference, I sized up to the medium in the tee.  It is a little boxy, but I still love it.  😉

We headed to a friend’s house that’s on a lake and had a blast.  We played washers, fished, and did a lot of swinging in a hammock.

I love the slower pace we always adopt when we are at the ranch.

Saturday morning we woke up, had a big breakfast, and had a day of exploring on the agenda.  And although we were just at the ranch, I couldn’t wait to break out my new top.  I bought it at a boutique in downtown Mckinney (same place where I bought the hat), and then I called my friends at Social Threads to see if they could get it in since I know they love this brand!  AND THEY MADE IT HAPPEN!

I’m wearing a small in the top, which is true to size for me.  It’s just so freaking festive and cute.  I’m going to love wearing it with white jeans too.

First up on our adventure agenda, rock hunting.

Everybody got into it, and we found some cool ones to bring home!

Brody (my sister’s son) had us in stitches all weekend.  He’s the coolest 4 year old I know.

These two had a blast together.  And how much do they look alike?!?

 

Sunday afternoon it was STUPID hot, and I found Conner hanging out inside with the pups.  Her next WORK WEAR POST is scheduled for June 11th, but you can find all of her previous ones HERE.

Several of us couldn’t battle the heat any longer, so in the tank we went.

And guess who got in next?

To my initial horror, the pups.

They had a blast and Carter thought it was the best thing ever, so I tried to just let it go.  I mean, could they be any happier?!?

And then this happened.

OMG.

They would hop in the tank, swim around, run out, and then roll around in the dirt like pigs.  It was awful. And hysterical.  And they loved every minute.  Sometime today Chris is going to post a video of these two on their dirty little adventure, so make sure you are following along @ourgoldenpups on Instagram.

Monday morning we just packed up and went home.  But not before Brody got to enjoy 1 more Dr. Pepper.  Because I’m clearly THE BEST AUNT EVER.

OFF THE SHOULDER COVER-UP DRESS

I love the colors, the fit, and the style of this dress. It isn’t lined, so I think it functions better as a cover up up.  HOWEVER, if you’re on vacation it would definitely be great to throw on to go to dinner over your suit.  I think it’s so cute, and then I saw THIS ONE.  It’s virtually the same, but over $200 more!  So this is a great Splurge vs. Steal.

NEW SWIMSUITS

I’ve been swimsuit shopping for myself online, and I ordered 3 Anne Cole suits that should arrive early next week.  When looking around online I also saw this one from Modcloth.  I ordered a suit from ModCloth last year (similar to THIS one in the pink gingham) and loved it, so I thought I would check back this year.  This striped suit wouldn’t work for me, but if I was less busty (or had after market boobs) :), I would totally order it.  Mine just aren’t quite perky enough to pull this baby off.  Too bad, because I love it!

Bachelorette Premiere Recap
