Hello, Ladies!
And HAPPY MONDAY!!!
We had a nice weekend over here (including a fun soccer win on Saturday morning!), and now we’re ready for a busy week ahead. Hope you had a great weekend too and are ready for an awesome week as well.
Over the last several months I’ve had several BEAUTY POSTS with Nordstrom, and I’ve been having the best time ordering and trying more beauty products than I ever have before. It’s a lot of fun to step out of the fashion space for a minute, and I’ve definitely found some products that I have fallen in love with. I mean, I’m not getting any younger over here, so give me #alltheproducts.
Some of my beauty posts have had themes (ex. “Let’s Talk Eyes” and “Get Your Glow On“), but today’s post doesn’t have a theme. I simply ordered products to try and review for y’all. There are a couple I ordered based upon passionate suggestions from readers (I love it when y’all tell me to), and others I just ordered based upon the reviews I read through on the site or on recommendation from a Nordstrom beauty rep.
You’re also going to see some products in today’s post that I’ve talked about before, but I feel compelled to talk about again. I know not everybody is able to see every single post I ever do, so this is a way to reach more people with a product I’ve spoken about before (that I continue to use and love). And it’s still a good review for those of you that have heard me talk about something before. If you’re like me, sometimes it takes me hearing about something a couple of times before I’m really interested.

Let’s dive right in!
We’re talking about current favorites today.
Since I’m constantly trying new products, my favorites change more often than the regular gal. I might find a new bronzer I like, or maybe a new foundation… but I definitely have products that I remain faithful to as well.
Today’s post is a mix of old and new favorites.
Let’s talk foundation!
My new foundation combo is up first!
This Georgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation is one I bought on a reader recommendation years ago. I’ve started using it again AND I’M OBSESSED.
Y’all know that during the spring and summer months I used a combination of It Cosmetics CC Cream and Supergooop Glow Screen for my foundation, but I was wanting a little more coverage for fall so I pulled this out to try again. I talked about it last month, and I’m talking about it again today BECAUSE NOW I KNOW I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT.
And now I combine it with my beloved Supergoop Glow Screen.
I used to only use Supergoop Glow Screen in the summer as my “foundation” when I knew I was going to be in the sun for a prolonged period of time. HOWEVER. I’ve come to love the product so much that I’m now wearing it every single day, all year long.
I’m now mixing the Glow Screen with the Georgio foundation, and I love the coverage, finish, and protection it gives!

Let’s talk eyes!
This Primer Potion is a product I’ve been using for a couple of years now. I keep talking about it because it continues to be a favorite. It’s very creamy, but it’s not nearly as cakey as some of the other eyeshadow primers I’ve tried, which I appreciate. It will prep your lids for eyeshadow and eyeliner while hydrating the area, blurring imperfections, and smoothing texture. It helps the color you apply later to not crease, and it helps the other products last longer as well. Even if I’m not wearing eye makeup on any given day, I like to still apply this because it covers up the purple tones I sometimes notice on my eyelids.
Urban Decay Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion
I’m not good at doing eye makeup, so I need my eye makeup to be easy to apply and as fool proof as possible.
I apply a neutral shade all over my lid, and then I apply a darker color to the lower lid.
I prefer a creamy shadow and have fallen in love with this Bobbi Brown Cream Shadow Stick. I’ve tried several brands and several colors of shadow sticks, but I keep coming back to this one. I absolutely love how it glides on so easily without leaving a harsh line. And the “dusty mauve” is a beautiful fall shade.

The last time I shopped in store at the Nordstrom Beauty Department, I bought over $100 worth of products, so the nice guy helping me said he was going to throw in this Double Ended Eyeliner Pencil for free! #thankyouverymuch
I’m still learning how to use it, but so far, I’ve been putting the neutral pencil on my waterline. It is supposed to help brighten up your eyes and make you look more awake. My eyes water pretty frequently during allergy season, so I don’t think it’s making that much of a lasting difference during the day for me, but I can see why most people love it.
When talking about regular eyeliner, I’ve tried a countless number of eyeliners over the last several years. I have a couple that I like and use pretty regularly, but this Charlotte Tilbury eyeliner pencil in Barbarella Brown was recently recommended to me by the Nordstrom beauty rep. One of my eyeliners that I’ve been using all of a sudden feels too stark to me, and the other one is having staying power issues during the day, which is why I was looking for a new one.
The CT pencil goes on smoothly, it’s a pretty and rich chocolate brown, and it doesn’t fade or smudge during the day. It’s definitely my favorite eyeliner right now.

The Air Brow Tinted Volumizing Treatment Gel is a product I first talked about last month, and now I cannot imagine not using it. It has a mousse like texture, and it’s different than the pencils that I have been using because it gives a fuller/fluffier look. I feel like it’s also much quicker to apply because I’m not drawing individual hairs on. It seems to give just the right amount of volume, tint, and hold. I wear the soft brown.

Now that I’ve been doing my eyebrows for over a year now, I’ve tried several different brow pencils like this one. BUT THIS It Cosmetics Brow Power pencil IS NOW THE CLEAR WINNER! The color (universal taupe) works the best for me, and the stick seems to go on the easiest.
I’ve found that my winning combination for the best eyebrows is when I first apply the Air Brow Tinted Volumizing Treatment Gel (in soft brown), and then I fill in any gaps with my It Cosmetics Brow Power pencil (in universal taupe).

Here’s a picture of just one eye done using all of the products I just highlighted. Such a difference, right?
Oh, and I always use the Anastasia Clear Brow Gel on top to help set my brows.

Let’s talk bronzer!
I’ve used lots and lots of bronzers over the years, and I’ve truly liked a lot of them. As long as they aren’t too orange or too sparkly, they usually work for me. Currently I’m using this Charlotte Tilbury bronzer in 3 Tan. Again, this was recommended to me by the Nordstrom beauty rep, and the marketing kiosk in the store got me. The girl on the poster was freaking glowing, but not all glittery.
Charlotte Tilbury bronzer / CT bronzer and blush brush
The guy put it on me in the store and I was sold. He applied it to my face in the 3 pattern you always hear about…on the sides of the top of my forehead, on my cheekbones (in an upward motion), and on my jawline.
When you apply it, just apply it to the parts of your face that would be most likely to be kissed by the sun!

Now let’s talk lips!
Rose Salve is a lip balm that Shay introduced me to several years ago. It’s an incredible value at only $7.5o for this container, and it does a great job of moisturizing my lips.
This is a product that you will want to put on every night before bed. It is incredibly moisturizing and feels great on. And here’s a tip for you, it works wonders on cracked elbows too! When nothing else works on my elbows, this does.
The Daisy Plum lipstick from Dior was recommended to me at the Nordstrom makeup counter. I said I wanted a great fall color with a little drama, and this is right what she went to.
The Charlotte Tilbury Love Liberty lipstick is a matte lipstick. I don’t typically like a matte lipstick, but this one isn’t too matte, and it’s not drying at all. In fact, I find it to be very hydrating. Again, the color is “love liberty”.
Y’all know I most often wear some sort of a berry lip, but if I do want to go more neutral, Charlotte Tilbury’s pillow talk lipstick is what I always reach for. I like the most famous neutral there is because it’s got some blush tones in it, which I love. However, I never wear it by itself. It always has to have a gloss on top.

For comparison…
Daisy Plum / Love Liberty / Pillow Talk
In these pictures I’m wearing this liner (in “pillow talk medium”) with all of the lipsticks and I’m wearing the Anastasia Diamond Gloss on top of all 3 colors. I ALWAYS wear a gloss with a lipstick, and this gloss gives me the extreme shine that I often desire without altering the color of the lipstick. The Anastasia Gloss is killer. It gives incredibly high shine with just the tiniest bit of a shimmer, but not too much shimmer, because I wear it every single day.

And the final look with today’s products…
Playing with makeup is so much fun, y’all!
I’m so happy that I’ve had these posts each month with Nordstrom. I know that I’ve found products I wouldn’t have found otherwise, and I hope that y’all have added NEW favorites to your makeup drawers as well!

OUTFIT PLANNING
And just for fun, in addition to playing around with makeup, I’ve also been having tons of fun making outfit collages! Here are some outfits you can expect to see on the blog in the near future…
This is the perfect outfit for a fall lunch with friends! #iliveforleggings
denim shirt / earrings / heart necklace / faux leather leggings / bag / sneakers (white/black leather)
You know if I’m going to create an outfit for the office that I’m for sure going to be styling it with the best black pants EVER. These babies are a no-brainer and EVERYBODY needs to at least try them. If you work in an office, you pretty much have to buy at least 1 pair. Most people size down 1 in them. I’m telling you, these are the only black slacks you need!
sweater / necklace / earrings / best black pants ever / Daisy Plum lipstick / bracelet / plaid mules
I saw this shirt in store, I tried it on, and it came home with me. Button downs are often hard to fit on me, but this one is perfect. And it’s so soft! I have it styled two ways below. Which way is your favorite?
cardigan / plaid button up / earrings / heart necklace / faux leather leggings / sneakers (white/black leather) / jeans / cognac leather boots
And here’s one more way to style the plaid shirt with my faux leather leggings. For size reference, I recommend sizing up 1 in the leggings. The medium petites are great on me and are the perfect ankle length (I’m 5’4″ with long legs for my height).

Love your makeup posts!
I want to try the Charlotte Tilbury bronzer. Also, those lipsticks looked so pretty on you.

Thank you so much, Kathy!!! xoxo
Alison Althouse says
Thanks for all the info Sheaffer – you covered sooo much in today’s post! Wanted to suggest something for anyone who isn’t quite ready to jump on the faux leather leggings trend yet – try the Amazon faux leather joggers! They’re a little more forgiving than leggings, but still have that faux leather feel. I love them!
Sheaffer says
Great tip, Alison! Thank you! xoxo
Missy says
Thank you for sharing! I had a few of the items in my cart but was on the fence. I think I’ll pull the plug now! BTW…what color is your nail polish in the early pics?!? Its such a pretty fall color!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Missy! It’s a gel color, and I don’t know. So sorry! 🙁 xoxo
Alicia says
Thanks for all the beauty suggestions!! What size did you buy in the plaid shirt? I love it!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Alicia! I got a medium and it’s perfect! xoxo
Erika Slaughter says
So many goodies in one post!
Shay Shull says
I have commentary for every item you showed today. The Bobbi Brown, love that color! The Urban Decay is the best primer for lids EVER and the Rose Salve is great on cuticles!!! I love a beauty post!!
Arika says
Sheaffer – do you know if Nordstrom will let you return lip color if the shade doesn’t work for you? I’ve been wanting to order the pillow talk shade, but I don’t live near a store to try it on first. I hate the thought of buying a $34 lipstick and then it doesn’t work. But also, returning lipstick seems like a crummy thing to do because it’s not like they can resell it….
Sheaffer says
Hi, Arika! They do take makeup returns, they just “damage them out” and don’t resell them. Hope this helps! xoxo
