It’s time for CLOSET CONFESSIONS – the series where you get to know a little bit about one of my blogger buddies AND peek inside her closet!!!!
WooHoo!
Cue the applause!

Today we get to know Megan from Honey We’re Home!
Megan is DARLING, she has a cute hubby, a precious kid, and a gorgeous home.
Believe me, we could all hate her if she weren’t SO DANG SWEET!
I met her in real life thru my other bloggy friend Cassie and immediately fell in love with this girl.
And then I saw pics of her closet, and I wanted to move in with her.
This was my plan: I was just going to curl up in one of her cubbies, and she probably wouldn’t even notice I was there.
When I was there, I would try on all of her shoes….you’ll see what I mean in just a sec….
#don’tmindme
#i’mjustchillininyourcloset
Okay, let’s get started with Megan’s confessions!
From here on out, my commentary will be in italics!
Megan: I’d have to say shoes. When we built our home and I designed the closet, I made sure to add shoe shelves that could hold about 50 pair of shoes- I figured that should have been enough room, but I still have some overflow.
me: #jealous
#happyforyou,buttotallyjealous
#butreally,happyforyou
#ipromise
😉
Megan: For sure my flip flops and Gap jean shorts! I live in those most of the time.
me: Megan has a crazy good body (I hope it’s not weird that I’m saying that…but whatever…she does), and if I were her I’d pretty much ditch the shorts and find an excuse to just walk around in a bikini. A TRIANGLE bikini (that one is for you Narci). 🙂
Megan, my most worn item in my closet ALL YEAR LONG are hands down and no contest my MUST HAVE jeans.
My exact pair from 2013 are sold out, but you can find the 2014 distressed skinny jean version HERE (great with tall boots) and the 2014 distressed cuffed version HERE (great with booties and flats). There is also a pair of non-distressed cuffed jeans that are dark wash that you can find HERE.
I’m telling you, these jeans are awesome, and you can’t beat the price.
Megan: My favorite shoes are my Michael Kors knee-high boots that I’ve had forever, but don’t get to wear that often because Houston only has a few months of cold weather.
Me: Megan, I don’t have any knee high boots, but I was thinking that I might put a pair on my Christmas list! I think I would be all sorts of SASSY in them.
I would WORK IT.
Here are some I found that I’m loving…
hinge boot HERE
born boot HERE
black suede HERE
Tell me you didn’t just sing that.
Oh you didn’t?
Yeah, me either.
And just in case anybody cares, the most worn shoes in my closet are THESE. They work in spring, summer, and fall. I wear them with jeans, with cords, with skirts, and even with cut-offs. I’m telling you, this pair of flats is legit.
Megan: I’m pretty sure I’ve had these Citizens of Humanity Dita petite bootcut jeans for at least 7 years. They are my “most comfy-make your butt look great” pair of jeans. I dig the casual color too. I think they just get better with age.
They are often sold out, but this pair is similar.
If you want an inexpensive pair of bootcut jeans, I’ve got a suggestion for you!
Try THESE.
They are only $58 and are from the same maker of my MUST HAVE jeans!
Or if you want designer, click HERE for 21 pairs of designer jeans on sale…some brands are picked over….but good luck!!!!! You might find a great deal!
5) Do you have an item in your closet that you can’t get rid of, even though you know you will never wear it again?
Megan: Hmmm, if I know I’m never going to wear something again, I let it go.
The only thing I still have that I’ll never wear is my wedding dress.
Me: Megan, I’m jealous again.
I don’t know why, but I have the hardest time getting rid of clothes…
even if it’s been years since I’ve worn them! Which could explain the pleated khaki suit pants I just threw away a couple of years ago!
#i’mnotkidding
#didimentiontheywerepleated
#theywerewrongonsomanylevels
HILARIOUS.
Megan: I try to shop as frugally as possible. There are too many sales, coupon codes and discounts to not get a great deal! The jeans and boots I mentioned before are probably my biggest splurges- and worth every penny!
Me: Megan, Pinterest Told Me To readers would like to suggest you that you cough up $90 and get THIS. You might question spending that much money, but WE PROMISE you will wear it inside of your house all fall and winter long, and you will wear it out of your house with leggings, jeans, and tall boots.
Get it, and then you can thank us all later.
#trustus
#it’swovenbyangels
#youcan’targuewithallthose5starreviews
7) Tell us about the best bargain in your closet!
Megan: My best bargains are the items I score at Marshall’s. I found these heels there, but also saw them online for only $35.70.
Megan: I’d love to add a faux fur vest to my wardrobe- don’t have one and they are so chic for fall and winter!
Me: If I ever get brave enough to try and pull of a faux fur vest, I might try THIS two-toned one. And if any of you out there have a baby girl, you should probably get her one of THESE from Old Navy. Because duh.
-My tops are organized into four hanging sections: 1) tanks/sleeveless; 2) cotton tees (long and short); 3) blouses/button down shirts; and 4) sweaters.
I then organize them by color.
#gottalovealittleocd
I have a little OCD in me too Megan. Sadly, mine manifests itself with stupid things running through my head like DID I SHUT THE GARAGE DOOR?...or DID I BLOW THE CANDLE OUT? ..or DID I LEAVE MY HOT ROLLERS PLUGGED IN ON ACCIDENT?
(Yes, I use hot rollers. No, I’m not 83)
-I recently switched out all my white plastic hangers for these slim huggable hangers which I love! They save so much space and really keep your clothes from falling off the hanger. Also, these hangers have rounded ends to prevent those ugly points on your shirts. I had to get used to using them because when you put them in your shirt, they can get caught on the fabric.
I use these too Megan, and speaking of OCD, I started out by getting like 20 of them to see if I liked them enough (kinda pricey at $1 a hanger) to get them for the entire closet! But it took about 1 hour for my obsessive tendencies to kick into overdrive and suddenly I HAD TO HAVE AN ENTIRE CLOSET OF HUGGABLE HANGERS. For about a year I bought about $50 worth every several months and now almost my entire closet is made up of these beauties.
–I hung my colorful necklaces there using a silver pushpin pushed right into the wall. I tried to keep them level but didn’t measure, just “eyeballed” it. The statement necklaces are hung across two pushpins and the others hang on one.
–I prefer to hang my sweaters during winter so they aren’t getting smashed and wrinkled
– I use a tie/belt organizer to hang my scarves. It keeps them tangle and wrinkle free and easy to see. It’s very strong- holds 14 scarves on one hanger!
Okay ladies.
Now that you’ve heard all about her closet, it’s time to see it!
Get ready to OOOOOH and AHHHHHHHHHHHHH while contemplating setting fire to your own closet.
Look at those shelves! Look at that island! Look at her jewelry! Look at the light fixture! That’s right….Oooooh and Ahhhhhhh girls….Oooooooh and Ahhhhhhhhh.
LOVE how she hung the statement necklaces across 2 push pins so she could really see them! That’s a little bit of genius right there.
Dying.
I’m dead.

If you follow me on instagram, then you’ve seen a couple of pictures of the new house.
When we got over to the house (just a couple hours after closing) I took THIS shot and posted it to instagram. Lots of you requested for me to do a Closet Confessions, and I totally will!!!!!
I already have a friend lined up for November, but I will do December for sure.
I’m not sure if you can tell or not, but I’m a little bit excited about this closet.
(Follow me on instagram HERE for little snippits from my real life that don’t always make it to the blog!)
p.p.p.s.
Do you guys remember our special mama from July?
Well, Candace was the special mama who we honored with a $1000 shopping spree to Nordstrom!
(You can see the shopping trip HERE. You can click HERE to read about Candace.)
If you recall, her oldest son has autism and she and her hubby created the organization Counting On Hope to help with therapy and medical expenses.
Do you remember her superhero shirt?
The back of the shirt reads:
“Sometimes superheroes live in the hearts of small children fighting big battles.”
Look at all of the sweet and precious super heroes that are all so brave.
Find these amazing shirts HERE.
Do you have a son, daughter, niece, nephew, cousin, neighbor, friend who would love to receive one of these shirts? What an easy way to let a family member or friend know that you are rooting them on in their journey!

Megan // Honey We're Home says
Thanks Erica. Feeling really happy to have this space to keep everything organized.
Meagan @ The Clanahan Fam says
Are.you.kidding.me? That's her closet??? It looks nicer than a boutique shop. Ok, I'm officially jealous. I also dig a girl who still rocks her citizen bootcuts. I know we are all about skinny these days but sometimes it's nice to pull out that well-worn pair.
Megan // Honey We're Home says
Oh yeah, still love those bootcut- something about how they make the butt look higher! 😉
Lauren says
Wow what an amazing closet–it's so organized! I am inspired to go clean mine asap. 🙂
Megan // Honey We're Home says
Thanks Lauren- I can help! I love to organize!
Natalie Zambreski says
Holy cow – I am DROOLING over that closet. I think it's bigger than our bedroom! Loved ever minute of it!
And as always – the PTMT commentary was the greatest 😉
Megan // Honey We're Home says
I agree- her commentary kills me! 🙂
clatk says
Oh my! I was not expecting to see my Sweet Sadie today (she's the little blond superhero at the top left of your collage ?)! It made my heart swell up! I'm thankful to you and to Candace for recognizing these little warriors! We go to Dallas Friday for another surgery on her neck (she has 2 rare conditions), and I plan on her rocking that shirt again!! Thanks again ❤❤❤!
Also, Megan's closet– WHAAATTT?!? That thing is amazing!!
Sheaffer says
Sadie is ABSOLUTELY precious! Please keep us posted on her surgery!
xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂
Candace says
My hubby is smitten with the picture of Sadie. She is so precious! Prayers for Sadie and your family with the upcoming surgery.
Megan // Honey We're Home says
Praying hard for you!
clatk says
Thank you all so much!! Makes me tear up! She's a pretty special little girl!
Leigh says
I've been reading Megans's blog for years. I read both of them actually. I have been head over heels in love with her closet for so long! I could live there and I would totally try on her shoes, I bet we don't wear the same size, but still!!!! Oh and I agree with you, if I had Megan's body I would totally be rocking a teeny bikini every day. It's cold outside, no biggie, I'll put on a parka over my bikini. 🙂 it's probably a good thing for everyone that I don't have her body now that I think about. Lol!
Sheaffer says
Leigh…a bikini and a blardigan. 🙂
Megan // Honey We're Home says
Leigh, thank you so much! Come try on shoes! I should put a chair in their so we can hang out over coffee! 😉

I really enjoy this series but sometimes there is too much links to shopping and pushing similar items. Yes her dress is cute but I don't need to see a link for 4 similar ones. I enjoy the content of the closet confessions and I love peeking in other peoples homes too but I think the shopping links are overbearing sometimes. Just my opinion. (don't get me wrong I love the shopping suggestions and links but when the post is about someone else's closet I want to read that).
Sheaffer says
Hi there! I appreciate your input! It's a hard balance for me. Most people think of this as a style and shopping blog, and sometimes when I have had fewer shoppable links in posts I get comments about that too! Maybe to compromise I can put shopping links for similar items at the end of these type of posts so they don't take away from the Closet Confession! Actually, I think I like that idea!
xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂

Don't even know where to start. Speechless. Ready to move to Texas and make Megan and Shay design me a closet!

Very cute post….Now I have to look at ANOTHER blog, you girls are killing me!
Megan // Honey We're Home says
I feel the same way too sometimes! 🙂

Clearly I am not spending enough time buying clothes. My husband needs to see this so he can see I don't have enough! Love all of Megan's clothes, maybe I could just move in there.
Megan // Honey We're Home says
Ha! Guess what I've been doing lately? Shopping for my hubby! Now, not ALL of the deliveries are for me. 🙂 sneaky, huh?! But seriously, I find good deals for him at Nordstrom and I think he really appreciates me buying him things for a change. 🙂

Is it bad that a closet can make my heart skip a beat? Unbelievably beautiful.
Megan // Honey We're Home says
Thank you! We lived in a small townhouse with tiny closets for the first few years of our marriage, and then built this house so I got to design the closet with lots of space and storage.
Rebecca@littledevilswithwings says
I love Megan…and her closet…and her clothes…. She really is a sweetheart. I've been following her blog for awhile now. I think I might have drooled a little bit at the first sight of her closet…and her kitchen…oh who am I kidding, her whole house is gorgeous!
Megan // Honey We're Home says
Hi Rebecca! Happy to see you here! Thank you so much for your kinds words- I appreciate you!
Kelcie_Hansberry says
Oh my gosh. Can a broke recent grad change her dream to whatever it is she does, I need that closet!!! It was amazing! I love love love everything especially how she shops on a budget. I now have 11 blogs I will read every morning! Hope you are loving the new house =)
Megan // Honey We're Home says
Thanks Kelcie! Girl, I'm 39 (gulp!) so my closet and the items in it were accumulated over lots of time! 🙂 Can't wait to see lots of Sheaffer's new house!
Liz/ says
Shut the freakin front door….that closet is any woman's dream….I am still ohhhing and ahhhing, seriously unreal…..I can't even form a sentence as I am still in awe of that much beauty in one post! That closet and Megan herself, stunning!
Megan // Honey We're Home says
Liz- so sweet of you! Thanks so much!

I've been in that closet…and it really is that good! I might have rolled around on the floor and smelled her shoes. No, I'm kidding. that would be weird. #nervouslaugh

Come back!! Remember's James' british accent? "mummy's closet"! 🙂 Y'all had him saying that over and over! 🙂
Darcy says
OH MY GOSH. I am subscribing to her ASAP just because of this tour… I must see the rest of the house! Such a genius idea to use two pushpins.. I only use one and always feel like the necklaces are falling off… so smart! Love this feature Sheaffer!
http://www.amemoryofus.com
Megan // Honey We're Home says
Darcy, I'm so happy to have you over! Keeping things organized is the OCD in me. I found I had more room than I needed in the closet, so those blank walls are perfect for displaying necklaces. I like to see what I have so I can get more use out of it. 🙂
audra wray says
WOW! I'll be going to organize my entire house now! Incredible!!
Megan // Honey We're Home says
I feel like that when I read "I Heart Organizing"! Thanks Audra!
Megan // Honey We're Home says
I'm giving you a great big virtual hug through my computer right now Sheaffer! You had me laughing out loud at your comments on this post- "I'm dead." hahahah! 🙂 Thanks so much for having me over. You work so hard on these posts- I can tell- and I know how much effort goes into putting them together. Then, those "counting on hope" babes made me tear up. I have some friends whose 4 year-old son is battling brain cancer. My heart goes out to them and they (and the boy) are so strong and brave. Prayers, prayers, prayers. Much love girlie!
Erin Stinson says
Like all the other comments here, there are just no words to describe my feelings about Megan's closet. Amazing, brilliant, beautiful, organized, colorful. Unbelievable! Thank you Sheaffer for connecting your readers to another cool blogger, and thank you Megan for sharing your little part of heaven with all of us.

Where did you get the belt/tie hangers for your scarves? And also the dividers for your belts? Love your closet, thanks so much for sharing
Megan // Honey We're Home says
The belt/tie hanger is from Amazon, the dividers for belts from bed, bath and beyond or target.
Lauri says
I too have read her blogs for years. I must say, this is the best closet I have ever saw!

is that even real life?! It's like straight out of a magazine. Swoon. Love all your commentary between the pictures, so funny. You crack me up Sheaffer, love the "I'm Dead". I love those hangers too, took me forever got enough, and just when I think I have enough, I somehow run out and need to buy 50 more…ugh!
Megan // Honey We're Home says
The "I'm dead" totally got me too. I was laughing out loud!
Chic Coastal Living says
Megan knows I love her and her closet! So awesome to see everything displayed so pretty!
Megan // Honey We're Home says
When do we get to meet up again??!!
Rebecca says
Such a pretty closet! I have a large, framed & decorated cork board in my closet that I keep necklaces on too, also my larger statement necklaces across 2 pins! :). I also have the same linen, shabby chic jewelry holder that Sheaffer has from hobby lobby & I LUV them both! For the past couple of years I've traded out all of my hangers for those slim, velvet ones similar to those you girls use & I love them! I'm a bit OCD about my organization too, so my closet definitely reflects that! 🙂
Megan // Honey We're Home says
Those slim velvet hangers changed my life- you can fit so much more in your space with them and the clothes don't slip off.
Because Shanna Said So says
Can she be anymore organized??? Gah!! And to have outfits picked out for each day of the week??? She is a rock star with a rock star closet!! So incredibly jealous!!
Megan // Honey We're Home says
I definitely did that when I worked full-time- anything to save those precious minutes of sleep!

GET a fur vest! You won't be sorry. It is a fabulous way to feel a bit edgy and hot. (Sorry I just said that and was bossy.)
VESTs are the BEST! Feel free to use that in a banner.
Megan // Honey We're Home says
I agree! It's okay to be bossy on that one. 😉
Kim Taylor says
1. That closet?… Amazing – gorgeous – love love love it! 2. Was at Costco today and they have a box of those hangers (35 I believe) for $9.99. Yep!!!!! $10. I bought 5 boxes. Gulp. LOL
Megan // Honey We're Home says
You got a great deal!!
Kristen says
Seeing Megan's closet and all the amazing clothes, shoes and jewelry she has completely justifies (for me) the thousands of $$'s I have spent buying all of Sheaffer's recommendations the past few months! Whew!
Megan // Honey We're Home says
Ha! 🙂
Sarah says
I just about to tell you the same thing as above – Costco often has the hangers for $9.99! I've been stocking up from there! Also the Dollar Store has them a lot too for about $.50/piece
Megan // Honey We're Home says
I never thought to try the dollar store- great share!
Chic Coastal Living says
I agree with you Megan about the wedding dress. I still have mine and it's gorgeous but yellow 🙁 Love yours!

I was so excited to see Megan's closet on your blog series! I enjoy reading her blog so much. 🙂 I love how organized it is and how she seems to have a distinct sense of her own fashion sense. Also, I'm kicking myself for buying the black version of those hangers a few years ago. Her taupe/cream ones look so amazing!
