Meet Emily.
She’s the blogger and designer behind Jones Design Company.
She’s super talented.  And darling.  And she has the cutest family you ever did see.

And now she’s going to answer some PTMT questions about her closet!

What is the one item in your closet that you feel like you have to actually stop yourself from wearing? You know, the item that you have to think, did I already wear this this week? 🙂
I wear jeans every day. I switch between a few different favorite pair (like these from zara and these oldies but goodies). I wear skinnies, but also still like a nice bootcut or wide leg jean from time to time.  We live in the Pacific Northwest where even in the summer we can wear jeans. I literally have to force myself to choose something other than denim every day.

Do you have a style staple?
To go with the jeans, I typically add a simple top in a solid or subtle pattern. My closet is organized by color and a large portion is taken up by gray, white and blue (no shock there for my neutral-loving self).  This is obviously not my closet. It is very un-photogenic, so I brought some favorites into my office, hung them on a little diy clothing rack and took their picture.

Just recently I have started loving to wear button ups with everything! THIS chambray one is my favorite right now, and THIS one looks like it could be right up your alley Emily!  It’s a light coral and cream gingham!

Is there one item that you have SEVERAL of?

I can’t get enough stripes. Are they the most flattering? I don’t know. But I can’t stop.

I just bought this little cotton dress from H&M to throw on over a swim suit or wear with flats and a colorful necklace to dress it up. My favorite part are the pockets (why are dresses instantly more flattering if they have pockets?!).
I KNOW!  I adore a dress with pockets and your navy one is too cute!
 THIS one from Anthro has pockets AND is striped!
It’s expensive, but I want it.  I also want to take it on a beach vacation. 🙂

Show us the oldest item in your closet.
The oldest things in my closet are these two favorite, super-worn, super old sweatshirts. One is from my high school cheerleading days, the other is my college roommate’s high school sweatshirt. Why do I have it? I do not know. But it is amazingly soft and worn and a terrible color on me, but I throw it on anyway (thanks Jodi!).
So fun!  I have tons of college tees also, and just the other night I slept in a t-shirt from my senior year in high school!

What are your most worn pair of shoes?
I like a neutral saddle brown shoe – tall boots, booties, heels, wedges and sandals – to go with everything. These 5 pairs get a lot of use!
I 100% agree with you Emily!  My cognac and nude shoes are the most worn in my closet too!
My nude patent flats are worn almost all year long, my brown Frye boots are well-loved, and I have a couple of different pairs of neutral wedges that get lots of use!
I will say, I also wear leopard flats and wedges a lot and claim that they are a neutral!

Show us your most prized possession in your closet.
I really adore this strapless bridesmaid dress from my little sister’s wedding. Even 10 years later, I still love the classic shape and interesting texture of the layered tulle

I even wore it last year for a photo shoot with my baby girl!

And let’s just say…I’m SUPER impressed with the fact that you are able to slip right into a dress that you wore 10 years ago! Good for you Mama!

I’m wearing a small in jackets #1 and #2 and an x-small in jacket #3.
All 3 of them come in additional colors.
Jacket #1 is very soft and has an elasticized waistband across the back, it was my favorite!
I’m wearing a small in #1, but I think I could probably have worn an x-small for a more fitted look.  I really like the camo option in this jacket!  DARLING!
Jacket #2 is a little longer and has more structure than #1 or #3.
Jacket #3 has a hood, and it also comes in a bright coral color that is great!  Love the coral!  I tried it on a couple of months ago, but can’t find the picture!

    Random comment about your Back To The Basics series but I got a Lush black maxi at TJ Maxx for $16.99! It must be last years version because it's a razor back but it's just as comfy and fits just as well as the one you featured because I have the black and white one! #maxiaddict
