And I knew exactly how I was going to change it up a bit and make it work with things I already had in my closet.
It’s definitely in my Top 10 favorite looks of all times on the blog, and it might even be in my Top 5!
I mean.
That’s a good inspiration picture, right?
I want to be this girl’s friend.
Hey girl, call me.
Let’s go shopping and to lunch at the Nordstrom Bistro.

And because for some reason I feel like I have to make a graphic for everything right now…. |
Here’s a close up.

Here I tucked in the shirt and added my leopard belt (option HERE).
Because duh.
Everything’s better with leopard.
You can quote me on that.
Look at me, ready for fall.
I know, I know. The leaves are cheesy, but I couldn’t help it!
Do you like the top in or out better?
And for no other reason than I want to show them off.
These gorgeous boots are the Frye’s that I finally bought this year!!!! YAY ME!

So here is where I would normally put together a “Get The Look For Yourself” collage, but
I’m super sad to report that I can’t find any mustard skinny jeans anywhere.
I searched high and low with absolutely NO LUCK.
Mine were from Nordstrom a couple of years ago, and I’m so sad I can’t find a similar pair for y’all.
OOOOH WAIT! UPDATE!
An awesome reader left a comment this morning with a link to THESE mustard skinny jeans at JC Penny’s! And LISTEN! They are only $19.99!!!!!
Thank you J Lemmons!!!!! (She says the website looks more bright yellow than they are in person.)

I ADORE this jacket..
Check it out HERE.
OBSESSED.
In fact, I’m obsessed enough that I’m considering buying it. Yes, it
would be my fourth, but the black sleeves make it different enough to
not make it totally ridiculous. Right?
The fit was great. It was so comfy (not stiff at all), and a great weight (not too light, not too heavy).
I feel like Goldilocks by the way.
It was just right.
Jacket HERE, for size reference I was wearing a small. It’s a GREAT jacket.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the fit of it.
Sweatshirt HERE, jeans similar HERE, nude patent flats HERE
Love the whole outfit. Cozy, cute, and totally put together without trying too hard!
It would be even cuter with my taupe TOMS booties or my new BP booties.
Here are some longer jackets:
two pocket stretch jacket from Nordstrom HERE
zip front field jacket from Loft HERE
lightweight parka with plaid hood HERE
Here I am in another long option from Nordstrom.
If you’re looking for a longer jacket, the price point of this one at $64 is great!
I’m wearing an x-small in the picture, but it was definitely too small. I needed a small for sure.
similar gingham shirt from GAP HERE, signature necklace c/o BaubleBar HERE, rayne necklace c/o Kendra Scott found HERE and at Nordstrom HERE, gold earrings c/o Gorjana HERE, leopard belt similar HERE, jeans similar HERE, nude patent flats HERE, cushion cut bracelet c/o Accessory Concierge HERE
And here I am in a long option from Old Navy.
(My Shopping with Sheaffer: Reader’s Choice at Old Navy is on Wednesday!)
Click HERE for this jacket (and it comes in khaki too)!
A reader (Hi Kathryn!) sent me this picture last year of THIS jacket (top right in the above collage).
Kathryn thinks it’s fabulous and so do I!
Let’s all just take a minute and absorb Kathryn’s cuteness.
It’s a lot to take in.
She even took the time to show it unbuttoned, buttoned, and with the fringe scarf!
And Kathryn, not only do I want your jacket..I also want your hair….and your skin.
Basically girls, just get whatever you need to get to make this look happen! 🙂
I thought I had worn the gingham and mustard combo before, so I searched the blog and found this! Here they are with my pillar box red wellies and my Rebecca Minkoff studded bag (sold out).

THIS sweatshirt is on sale.
Get it while the gettin’ is good.
Candace and I both ended up with the cream.
I got a small, but she wanted hers a bit longer, so she got a medium.
LOVE. THIS. SWEATSHIRT.
(We are both wearing the Thompson Tomboy jeans from 2013. This exact pair is sold out, but the 2014 version can be found HERE.)
When I posted this on facebook over the weekend, I got a question what shoes I would wear with this outfit! Well, the possibilities are endless!
I will wear this combo with my TOMS booties (HERE), my nude flats (HERE), and my leopard flats (HERE). I also plan on wearing it with skinny jeans and my Frye’s (HERE).
That’s it for today girls!

So I have been on the fence about the military jacket since the day you first started raving about it. I could never think of a reason I would need to have one. Well, this weekend I caved and bought the Old Navy jacket in green (on sale in store for $30!!). And what can I say, you were right! (Duh – you always are!) I should have listened in the beginning. I can't wait to style the jacket for fall, and this mustard/gingham combo is top of my list!
Kristin says
Love it! And the Gap gingham shirt is on sale for $34.99! Score!

I vote for the shirt tucked in! So happy to see this outfit..I was contemplating my navy gingham with my mustard skinnies but now I know I have to wear this! A friend of mine has a shop….only on FB right now but I received my mustard skinnies last week and I LOVE them…perfect amount of stretch. I actually blogged about them today and there is a link to her FB page…or you can visit Burlap & Pearls on FB as well. I have several pairs of these jeans and they all have worn very well. Love that outfit – thanks for the inspiration. Now if you could just please tell Florida that the weather needs to seriously take a nose dive I'd appreciate it. You CAN be very persuasive (I know this from personal experience as I look through my closet at all the Sheaffer inspired purchases) so I'm counting on YOU! It's no fair that we are still in the mid 90's while everyone is dressing in cute fall clothes.
BTW, I LOVE the shirt tucked in!!!

Hey Sheaffer! I need your help! So we know you are the queen of military jackets, but have you seen any cute military vests as of late? I know you featured one in this post, but it seems like the ones I am seeing on Pinterest lately are a little longer. Would love some recommendations if you have any!
