I want y’all to know that I had every intention of NOT featuring Anniversary Sale items in today’s post. I figured everybody was probably all shopped out, and I had planned on taking break. BUT THEN I GOT A DELIVERY ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON. AND PLANS CHANGED. The doorbell rang at about 2:30, and after several “costume changes” and selfies, I decided it was my civic duty to share these items with y’all. 😉
Here’s what makes today’s post extra fun: MANY OF THE ITEMS ARE UNDER $40. You’ll also be seeing my new gorgeous fall tassel necklace in all of the outfits, and you can get 20% OFF of it (and EVERYTHING at Accessory Concierge) with the code fall20 for the next 48 hours. Now, before we get started, I know many of you are really disappointed in the amount of stock this year (as am I) for the Anniversary Sale. Several things have already either sold out or are very close to selling out, and it is definitely frustrating. I’ve had lots of e-mails asking about re-stocks, and I’m thinking if it hasn’t happened already, it’s not going to happen. My best advice is just to stalk the site for returns. So many orders were placed the first several days of the sale for cardholders, and I’m guessing returns are going to be hitting pretty soon, so just check frequently throughout the day to see if your item is available. If it is, snatch it up, because there might only be 1 or 2.
First up, THIS coat. It’s $37.90. FOR A COAT. FOR A DARLING COAT. Now, this coat is not for everybody, because it runs really small. On advice from some readers that already had the coat, I ordered up 2 sizes and got a large. I was skeptical, but I absolutely couldn’t have gone any smaller. Look at the detailing on the sleeves! Look at the collar! I am sooooo happy with this coat.
Let’s talk about the sizing of these jeans for a minute, BECAUSE IT IS SERIOUSLY CONFUSING. I’m normally a regular 27. I’m wearing the 27 Petite in these jeans. Now, here’s where it gets confusing. I’m usually a size 4…which is typically a size 27. However, the size chart for these jeans says a 27 is a size 6. If I ordered a regular (not a petite), I probably would have ordered a 26 (since the chart says that these are equal to a 4). But since I ordered a petite, I ordered a 27. I don’t normally buy a petite in jeans, but I really wanted these to be ankle length, and then I ordered a size up to compensate for the petite sizing! Hope that makes sense! #clearasmud THESE JEANS ARE AWESOME. I highly recommend them. In fact, even if you are a shorty like me, I would suggest getting them and then having them hemmed if you need to because they are worth it. You tall girls are lucky that the regulars are still fully stocked!
My over the knee Steve Madden boots just might be my favorite purchase from the sale. Well, there are two problems with them: 1) They are almost sold out. 2) Those of you with athletic calves have said there is no way you could even think about them because they have a 15″ calf circumference. So, I’ve come up with an alternative! THESE over the knee boots from Vince Camuto! The online description says :
- 20″ boot shaft; 15 3/4″ – 16 1/2″ calf circumference. Stretches to fit wide calf.
- Partial side zip closure; inset, covered elastic goring.
If you like the same look, but prefer to not do over the knee, lots of readers have been raving about THESE from Ugg. They come in 3 additional colors as well, and you know they are comfy. #becauseugg
Another good option for an over the knee boot are THESE from Halogen.
And for those of you that are still on the hunt for boots, here are some options that are still in stock that I’ve personally heard about from readers that love them enough to e-mail me about them! Just click on what you are interested in!
This red cardigan sweater is definitely another favorite. And it’s ONLY $31.90 ! For size reference, I’m wearing an x-small. I loved it paired with grey, leopard, and cognac…for what I think is a perfect fall look! Remember, use the code fall20 for 20% OFF the tassel necklace (and anything else you would like from Accessory Concierge)! They have a new website with bigger pictures of product, so you should totally check them out!
And the tee is perfectly slouchy and drapes perfectly, without being sloppy. I’m doing a 1/2 tuck in this pic, so it’s longer than shown (but still not long). I sized up and am wearing a medium in the tee. The tee is ONLY $15.90!

This striped sweater (that also comes in 5 solid colors and 2 other striped combos) arrived on Friday as well, and I think it’s so cute! I’m wearing a small. I wanted it over-sized and not form fitting, so you might want to consider sizing down if you want a more fitted look. I really loved the monochromatic look with the grey jeans. It’s over $40, but not much over, at only $44.90.
Notice the bag as well! It’s ONLY $35.90! It comes in black, cognac, and red. I have the drawstring drawn up in this picture, but it can also be loosened to make a larger, more rectangular tote!

This is this year’s version of the MUST HAVE Shirt! And it’s $39.90! For size reference, I’m wearing a small. In previous years I’ve sized down to an x-small, but I went with my regular size this year. Now remember, in year’s past, I’ve highly recommended the black. I’m hesitant to recommend other colors because most of them tend to show way too many wrinkles. But this year, this deep purple color spoke to me. When it arrived, it was covered in wrinkles, but I threw it in the dryer by itself for about 10 minutes, and it came out looking great! And just fyi, although I do dry clean mine, several readers say they wash theirs on delicate, pop them in the dry for several minutes, and then hang to dry the rest of the way.
I’m loving how the light taupe bag really brightens up some of these darker fall outfits! If the light color scares you, it’s also available in cognac, black, and red.
You saw this poncho on my first sale post day because I tried it on in store and fell in love. I first showed it with cuffed vigoss jeans and booties (which I liked), but I LOVE it with my grey skinnies and over the knee boots. Now, this sweater is pricey. But it’s sooooo soft, and I think it’s going to be very versatile. I wanted to try it on with my MUST HAVE LEGGINGS (also in the sale), but I couldn’t find them! Ahhhh! They are probably shoved in a drawer somewhere, but I feel pretty confident that the poncho is plenty long enough for leggings (as long as you don’t have a super long torso). I like it because it’s not boxy like a lot of ponchos out there. It drapes nicely, is very soft, and is actually very flattering! And if you notice, the light bag is brightening up the outfit again!
Two more very important things before you go.
First of all, don’t forget about the contest happening over on instagram! Take a picture of yourself in your anniversary sale scores (not just a picture on a hanger or on the floor!) and hasthtag the photo #sheaffertoldmeto. There aren’t that many entries yet, and next Wednedsay (August 3rd) is the deadline, so you’ve got a good chance! I will tag a winner on instagram who will win a $250 Nordstrom gift card in plenty of time to still shop the sale! Here’s an example of a picture posted by April, a reader that has been with me since the very beginning! She said “Blardigans for the whole family”, tagged #sheaffertoldmeto, and now she’s entered into the gift card contest. It’s so easy! And aren’t April and her girls just as cute as can be?
And speaking of the blardigan, in year’s past, it has always been the product that I received the most feedback about during the sale. You know, lots of “OMG” and “WHY HAVE I WAITED THIS LONG?” e-mails. Well, this year, the blardigan’s reign has ended. And THIS BRA has taken over. You ladies are crazy for it. In my opinion, there is no better bra. Click HERE for my facebook post I did yesterday if you want to see what some other readers have to say about the bra. For size reference, people are split. Some say they buy their regular size and it’s perfect. Others say they needed to size up 1/2 a cup size.
The rest of the week is going to be fun, so make sure you come back! Wednesday is the The Bachelorette recap, and I hope to have some bullet points from The Men Tell All as well!!!!! AND I’m shopping with the Special Mama winner today (I’m so excited!), so I’ll be sharing our shopping spree with you on Friday!!! Have a great week, y’all!
Oh, wait! One more thingt! I told you that I thought my Steve Madden over the knee boots might be my very favorite purchase from the sale! Please leave a comment below with your favorite purchase(s). I love hearing about what everybody else is loving! 🙂
