White and Denim – Rocking it Since 1986

Hi Ladies!
Well, I’ve been gone since early Thursday morning enjoying lots and lots of family time at the ranch house and the lake!
In an effort to maximize summer fun and family time (I didn’t get the computer out all weekend!), we’re taking a look back at a post from last summer.
But don’t worry, I’ve updated the post with items that are currently available in stores.
AND you get to see a picture of me in the 6th grade at the end.  So there’s that.

I saw these 2 pics, and I knew I had to recreate the white and denim look.

Denim and White together is a CLASSIC combination.

I really like how both outfits were styled.
Outfit on the left:
brown belt, SERIOUSLY short shorts (too short for me), brown bag, and gold bangles
 I liked it, but the outfit on the right was definitely my fav.
(UPDATE:  Ladies, it’s this picture that made me originally buy my favorite nude patent flats!)

Okay, so this is how I interpreted the look last summer.

 As you can see, I wore my TOMS with my outfit (since I didn’t have the nude flats at the time that I wrote this post) and they were fine (love my Toms)….but I think the outfit would have looked so much better with THESE.

Don’t want a white short, but you want a white jean?

 I REALLY like the white and denim together, so I tried to think of some other ways to style it.
For instance, and this is just off the top of my head…..
Maybe I’ll wear it belted at the waist with a pink belt with silver
hearts, white pleated shorts that hit just above the knee, and laceless
white keds with some white and blue plaid socks scrunched down around my
ankles.
Oh wait………
that’s been done……
Yep, I’ve been rocking denim (I believe back then we referred to it exclusively as “chambray”)
since around 1986.
I think the pic above was the first day of 6th  grade.
And NOTHING says I own 6th grade like white pleated knee length shorts.
Right?

here is some more style inspiration for you! 
 

Here’s what you need to take away from this post:
1) You HAVE to have a denim shirt in your closet.
Yep, this is one of those times that I’m going to be bossy.  
I didn’t have any, and then I bought 1 three years ago…and I wore it so much that I added another one last year…and then another one this year.  They are all different and I love them all.
AND I wear them all.  A LOT.
They are totally classic and super cool. 
2)  You HAVE to have white denim pants in your closet.
I have 1 pair of white denim shorts that are probably 3 years old (and I still love them!), and I have 3 pairs of white jeans that I’ve collected over the last 5 years.  A pair of boot cut from GAP about 4 years ago, a skinny pair from LOFT 2 years ago, and a pair of white boyfriend from LOFT this year.

So, put a denim shirt and some white denim pants on your wish list!

You’ll be glad you did!

    Im terrified.to buy a denim shirt, I know ItS going to bring ask kind of.1980s back into my life, Madonna lace fingerless gloves, leg warmers, and big hair.with the hugest lace bow!!!!……i will see if I can do it!!!!!
