Hey Everybody! Today is the last Wednesday of the month, so it’s time to join up with me, Shay and Mel and let everybody know WHAT’S UP with you this fine Wednesday!
WHAT WE ARE EATING THIS WEEK
Monday night we had Chick Fil-A, Tuesday we got tacos to go at our new favorite taco place for Chris’s b-day, and I have ZERO idea what the rest of the week holds. Seriously. #awesome
WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT
So if you don’t know by now, Monday morning there wasn’t a post up here like there usually is because I was TAKEN DOWN by a stomach bug. I published it Monday around noon, but I’m still afraid many of you didn’t see it! I highlight a great $48 tote bag, along with some other awesome items…AND I get my tour guide on and show you some of my favorite places on our downtown square! Check out the post HERE.
WHAT I’M LOVING
I’m continuing to love my rainbow wood bead tassel necklace. I’ve had this baby for well over a year now, and I just keep pulling it out.
On this particular day I paired it with a striped peplum tank (last year from Old Navy, but similar HERE), a favorite cardi, and a pair of flare jeans. I actually named the necklace one of my SHOULD HAVE BEEN A MUST HAVE items, so click HERE if you missed that post. I’m also wearing the mini abalone studs, and you can click HERE for a cross body from the same maker as mine that is now 40% OFF!
And I ordered THIS top for myself, and it should get here today! I’ve tried SEVERAL off the shoulder tops for myself, and they’ve all gone back…but I’ve got my fingers crossed for this one. White and blue, off the shoulder, and embroidery work? Yes, m’am.
And I was wondering has anybody tried on THIS dress? I LOVE that Old Navy dresses come in regular, petite, and tall….and I think this could be a perfect throw on dress all spring and summer long! I’m thinking it could be cute with wedges, flat sandals, or even converse!
WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO
The little fella and I went to see The Jungle Book a couple of weekends ago when Chris was out of town, and we both give it 5 stars! It was wonderful. Now, if you have a little one that gets scared easily, there are definitely some scary moments, so keep that in mind. We hopped in a pic together before heading to the theater. He’s a little ham.
scalloped tote / navy tee / cardigan (green sold out, but lots of other colors available)/ similar distressed skinny jeans ON SUPER SALE!/ shoreline converse
We’ve had some rain outs, but we are right in the middle of baseball season. I love watching this kid play ball. It’s finally starting to come together for him this year: he’s starting to understand the game, he’s hitting pretty consistently, making plays here and there, and most importantly his love for the game is growing. And I’ve got to say, I just love the kids and the parents on his team! The coaches are so encouraging and the kids have so much fun cheering each other on!
I saw something on a friend’s facebook page the other day. I’m not sure where she got it, but I love it. It said, “Parents: Don’t focus on the athletic success of your child. Instead, focus on their work ethic and ability to be coachable and respectful.” How true this is! I mean sure, I would love for him to hit every single time he gets up to the plate and catch and stop every ball in the field…but what’s more important is his character within the game.
WHAT I’M WORKING ON
I’m currently working on Friday’s and Monday’s blog posts. Friday I’m highlighting a white dress that I fell in love with (and I think you will too)! Monday I’m talking about Mother’s Day jewelry gift ideas!
WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT
THIS dress that I talked about sometime last month is NOW ON SALE. For 30% OFF! Last night it was 30% off, but as of this morning, now it’s only showing 5% OFF. 5% OFF? Come on!!!!!! Fingers crossed it will go back up to 30% OFF, and I will for sure let you know if it does. THIS dress from Madewell is similar, and it’s 45% OFF! For size reference, I’m wearing a small in the dress. I think I could have even gone down to an x-small, but I was afraid it would be too tight in the chest. Oh, and I apologize. I should have given you a warning for my glowing skin. DO NOT look directly at my legs or your retinas might be permanently damaged from ALL THE WHITE. (Don’t you worry ladies, since this picture was taken, mama got a spray tan.) ?
dress / wedges in limited stock at Nordstrom (also fully stocked at Zappos HERE with free shipping and returns)/ wood earrings / bamboi sunglasses
WHAT I’M WATCHING
The hubby and I got sucked in to a documentary on A&E called 60 Days In. It chronicles the life of some civilians that have agreed to go undercover in a jail for 60 days. Watching these volunteers (that are just regular ol’ people!) trying adapt to life behind bars and assimilate into the culture is fascinating. This particular jail was dealing with some pretty large issues, and the Sheriff implemented this program with the hope that it would uncover problem areas and enable them to fix what was broken. The show is fascinating.
WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND
On Saturday night I’m keeping my nephew when my sister and her hubby and my mom and dad all head to a wedding! I’m excited to get some uninterrupted time with this little fella. He’s HYSTERICAL and really smart. And if he looks like trouble, that’s because he is. #goodthinghescute
And if you have a little girl, I know what you should be doing this weekend: my friend Andrea is co-hosting a play date and Matilda Jane trunk show this coming Saturday. Up to 40% of the proceeds will go to our friend Manda, who is battling cancer right now. You can also go HERE and send your wishlists to katkempson@matildajaneclothing.com. Any questions you have can be sent to the previous e-mail or to my friend Andrea at dave-and-andrea@hotmail.com. So, on Saturday you can let your little ones burn off some energy and you can SHOP WITH A CAUSE!
WHAT I’M WEARING
So in the section I’m going to show you several outfits that I’ve worn over the past several weeks that haven’t yet made it to the blog.
First up, I wore THIS scalloped tank again and carried MY CORK CLUTCH again…but this time I switched out the gold script monogram with the navy block monogram! Jenny is running a special right now where with any Grateful Bags order you get FREE SHIPPING and a free GRATEFUL tee (that is apparently like the softest tee EVER!) 🙂
AND GIRLS. Check out THIS necklace! The ladies at Accessory Concierge thought I would love it, and boy were they right! This baby just hit the site, and they gave us a code for just this necklace. STMT readers are getting an exclusive code for 20% OFF with the code SUMMERSTEAL!
necklace c.o Accessory Concierge / scalloped tank / BEST STRAPLESS BRA EVER / blingy hoop earrings/ BEST WHITE JEANS EVER / cork wedges ON SALE! / cork clutch c.o Grateful Bags / additional script monogram HERE / additional block monogram HERE
For size reference, I’m wearing a small in the tank (true to size), a 4 in the jeans (true to size), and I sized up a 1/2 size in the cork wedges.
I mean, just look how pretty the beads are! The whole thing is gorgeous! I absolutely love how the necklace itself is real agate beads (all different colors, and all beautiful!), the druzy stone at the bottom is so sparkly and pretty, and those tassels! I have it dressed up a bit here, but I also think it would look great with a regular ol’ tee and jeans for a bit of the unexpected. (Code SUMMERSTEAL for 20% OFF through Friday!)
Get the Look For Yourself Here. Remember, you can find the clutch above!
I wore this next outfit just yesterday and smiled when I put it on because the shirt is around 5 years old. I love it when I find something that I love so much that I continue to reach for it 5 years later!
BEST WHITE JEANS EVER / top is from LOFT and VERY old / circle hoops / initial necklace c.o Moon and Lola and available at Nordstrom/ cork wedges ON SALE! / scalloped tote
I wore this sometime last week to do errands one day. It’s of particular interest because my sweater (that you’ve already seen) is now 40% OFF! I love this pink and coral one, but there’s also a light blue/ivory combo and a light green/grey combo. I sized up in the sweater and am wearing a medium. The jeans are true to size, I’m wearing a 4. And if you like the cross body, you can use the code PTMTSAVE10 for 10% OFF your entire Barrington order!

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH
So my birthday was at the beginning of this month, but I’m not celebrating with my neighbor girls until next month! It’s not that we haven’t tried to find a night in April, but apparently April was a busy month for all of us. Well, spoiler alert for Keely, Heather, and Shara, this is my Girl’s Night Out outfit for next month.
cold shoulder top / ag skinny ankle jeans / ribbon wedges (true to size and very comfy!) / circle hoop earrings / initial necklace
On the actual night out, I’ll probably pair it with THIS fun necklace and a hot pink clutch (similar to the one below)! Get The Look For Yourself Here:
BONUS QUESTION: WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MOTHER’S DAY GIFT TO GIVE OR RECEIVE
One of my most treasured Mother’s Day gifts is actually the Bible my mom gave to me on Mother’s Day the year I was pregnant with Carter. She wrote a very sweet message in it to me, and I love that I will have it forever. It’s one of the items I would grab if the house was burning down. Love You, Mom!
See y’all back here on Friday, and don’t forget to link up!

Such a great post!! Im so glad you’re feeling better…I missed my Monday morning Sheaffer dose!
Taco eater says
Dear taco expert, what McKinney area taco place is that good? We’ve been enjoying La Finca in Allen lately.
Sheaffer says
Hi Sarah! Our new favorite is actually in the Albertson’s parking lot at Stonebridge and Virginia! It’s called Nom Noms and the tacos are amazing! My favorite is the shredded chicken with mango salsa! It’s build your own like Chipotle, and we love it! We also like Ernesto’s and Mesa’s! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Cynthia says
The best off the shoulder top I found was from J.Crew…in fact, I wish you featured them as their clothes are generally well made and great! Definitely check it out. I picked up the chambray blue/striped one and it is fabulous with jeans or white pants in spring.
Galen says
I think I need a line in our budget for ‘Sheaffer clothes’ because I feel like I buy something from every post! Love the Madewell dress but Nordstrom seems to be offering it for 5% off and not 30%…is that right?
Sheaffer says
Ah, nuts! It was definitely 30% OFF last night, but it looks like it is only 5% off now. I have NO idea why! Hopefully it will go back up to 30% OFF soon! 🙁 xoxo, Sheaffer
Dana says
The Madwell site is actually offering 30% off. I just purchased the dress for less than $105 with taxes and shipping included! Great deal!
Kelsey says
That is a very special gift from your mom!! Also, I’ve had that stomach bug twice this year and it is not.fun.at.all. The first time it took me down for 5 days :/ Glad you’re feeling better! Also, your nephew looks like he is going to be lots of fun ha!

I bought the Old Navy shirt dress in your post. I’ve only worn it once so far, but do think it’s very versatile so I expect I’ll wear it a lot once the weather warms up. I’m glad you’re feeling better!

Saw this “just in queso” sweatshirt at nordies and thought of you. I got the “runs on coffee” version of it. SO soft. http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/bow-drape-just-in-queso-sweatshirt/4324077?origin=related-4324077-0-2-PP_4-Data_Lab_Recommendo_V2-also_viewed2&recs_type=related&recs_productId=4324077&recs_categoryId=0&recs_productOrder=2&recs_placementId=PP_4&recs_source=Data_Lab_Recommendo_V2&recs_strategy=also_viewed2&recs_referringPageType=item_page

Ugh…tummy bugs are the WORST. I got one over New Years…not fun!
I agree…those are the best white jeans ever! Loving all your outfits as usual 🙂
And, love doing this link up with you!
Ginny says
I just got that Old Navy dress in the mail & it’s very cute! It’s a thin denim which I like- good for hot weather. It’s short though- but not too bad. I am 5’2″ & in the petite (which normally fits me perfectly) I’ll need to be a little careful sitting down. I think you’ve said you are a little taller- you may want to get the regular.
Alison says
I LOVE that cold shoulder top you’re wearing in the last photo! Sooo cute! I hope you don’t mind my asking, but are you able to wear a regular bra with it? I’ve been thinking of buying a top like that one, now that I see you wearing it I’m on the verge of getting the exact same one, but wondering if I’d need to wear a strapless bra with it??
Sheaffer says
Hi Alison! I’m wearing a strapless bra in the pic, but only because I had it on in the previous picture. I tried it on with a regular bra as well, and I think a regular bra will work as long as your straps stay put! Hope this helps! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂

Sports are so fun, and I miss my Saturday mornings on the field hockey sidelines. My husband, who was a high school and college coach in the early years of our life, always asked our girls the following questions after every event and I always thought it was so wise… 1. Did you have fun? 2 What was something you would like to do better? 3. What was something you did well? Then he took them for icees. I truly think those are at the top of their best memories list:-). (And many times the thing they did well was about sportsmanship and not necessarily playing ability. Loved hearing their responses)
