Happy Wednesday, Everybody! It’s time for us to join up today with Shay and Mel and let everybody know WHAT’S UP with us this fine Wednesday!
*What we are eating.*
Way back in the summer, I had a Facebook friend that put up a code to try Hello Fresh for a reduced price, so we gave it a shot! And I absolutely LOVED it. Like I didn’t just kinda love it, I reallllllllllllllllllllllllllly loved it. Everything was perfectly portioned, the recipes were easy, and most importantly…the food was absolutely delicious. No wasted ingredients, and no need to buy a $13 bottle of sesame oil if you only need a tablespoon of it for a recipe!
The only problem with it is that I live with 2 guys that are kind of picky. #andbykindofimeanreally
So, they don’t tend to get excited when I’m making balsamic fig chicken. #sillyboys #itwasamazing
Here’s what I got delivered this week: balsamic fig chicken and sweet potatoes with mixed greens / classic beef chili / cream mushroom pork chops with crispy potatoes and brussel sprouts. (So my spell check is telling me it’s brussels sprouts. Is that right?!?)
Chris is going to be gone a couple of days this week, so I opted in for the delivery this week with the idea that I’d cook the meals and take one portion to my dad (who is still in the hospital and SICK of hospital food)….and I’ll eat the other serving myself!
Hello Fresh has several different plans to choose from including “Classic Menus”, “Veggie Menus”, and “Family Menus”, and depending on which plan you choose, you can select between 2-4 meals per week. Each week you have several meals to choose from, and you can schedule things on your calendar. You can also skip any week you want to, and you can do so up to 8 or so weeks out. I typically hop on and skip 8 weeks or so at a time, and then if I decide I want a delivery, I go “un-skip” the week. Does that make sense? I just don’t want to get stuck with a delivery that I don’t want.
Click HERE if you want to try it out and get $40 off your first box! I’m not totally sure how the referral program works, so you might get the $40 off automatically by clicking the link, or you might still have to enter the code “PINTER”. (By the way, this isn’t sponsored and they did not reach out to me at all….I just think the service is really cool!)
This week I’ll also be making Brisket Ranch Sandwiches out of Shay’s Simmers cookbook , a cookbook with ONLY slow cooker recipes! We will make sandwiches the first night (with the small Hawaiian rolls – I’m a total sucker for Hawaiian rolls), and then we will use the leftovers to make quesadillas another night! YUM! Behind steak, brisket is a favorite of my boys (and mine)!

*What I’m reminiscing about.*
This picture came up on my Facebook timehop this week.
He was 3.
AND AN ANGEL BABY.
Obviously.
I also looked back to try to find some Halloween pictures. Here are his first two Halloweens.
STOP IT.
And this was my favorite costume ever. He was 13 months old, walking all over tarnation, and his little dragon costume had wings and a tail. He was the cutest dang thing you’ve ever seen.

*What I’m loving.*
I placed a pretty large order that arrived last Friday, and there are several things that I wanted to go ahead and show y’all today (even though I haven’t styled them yet).
I get tons of requests every fall to highlight tunics to wear with leggings. They aren’t the easiest to find…BUT Y’ALL! Look at this one! It’s realllllllllllllllllly long (too long for me in fact), but it should be perfect for all of you tall girls.
hooded tunic / plus size tunic
For the next top…if you are looking for something that hides a little pooch (not that any of us have a pooch, ahem) ;), look no further than this darling tie front top. It’s soft, oh so cozy, and the little tie front makes it both interesting and flattering. I got this for myself.
And for those of you that fell in love with the asymmetrical ruffle hem blouse back in the spring (with the orange, leopard, and turquoise outfit I put together), they now have it in fall and winter colors with a longer sleeve! I’m thinking the red one would be great with black skinny jeans or boot cut jeans and fancy jewelry for a casual holiday party!
———————————————
*What we’ve been up to.*
We wrapped up our soccer and baseball seasons this week. Here’s a pic of Carter with Joel, one of his classmates that plays on both teams with him! We have a little break, but now we are ready for indoor soccer to start soon!
———————————————
*What I’m working on.*
I have a couple of sponsored posts coming up that I’m super excited about!
On Monday I’m working with Sole Society and talking about these boots and this bag. THE BOOTS ARE FABULOUS. Look at the little pleated detail on the top!!! I’m most excited about wearing them with dresses, but look how cute they are with skinny jeans too! I think I’m also going to be working these earrings and this leopard wrap into the outfit as well!
And next Wednesday I’m working with LOFT to get the word out about some of their pants! I haven’t decided just yet what exact style I’m highlighting, but I know it will be their Marisa pants. I’ve been a loyal fan of their Marisa pants for YEARS, I just need to decide what color and what exact style to feature!

*What I’m excited about.*
SALE ALERT! SALE ALERT! SALE ALERT! SALE ALERT! SALE ALERT!
THIS DRAPE FRONT JACKET THAT I JUST GOT IN YESTERDAY IS NOW 45% OFF!!!!
The jacket is stretchy, soft, and it drapes beautifully. And it’s extremely flattering. I love the waterfall styling, and think it’s a great addition to my closet. I’m wearing it here with a simple long sleeve black tee, but it would be awesome over a lacy cami for date night or girl’s night out! A medium is a 6-8 (and I would never be a 2-4 in a jacket), so I got a medium and it is perfect.

And it’s cute with regular denim too! I wish I had more pictures to show you of the jacket, because I’m thinking just about any color top would look great under it! If it’s still available, I’ll try to show you different tops with it on Friday!

I’m also excited about the new Barrington tote I ordered yesterday! Every season I work with Barrington to highlightthe new colors and patterns they are offering for that season….and this time I decided to go bold.
Could you die? #cuzicoulddie
Remember to use the code STMTSAVE10 for 10% OFF your order!
Oh, and great news! The bar stools that we have at our kitchen island have been unavailable for a really long time…BUT NOW THEY’RE BACK! Click HERE if you are interested!

*What I’m watching.*
I haven’t been watching much t.v. lately, which is not the norm for me at all! I need to fix that. 😉
———————————————
*What I’m listening to.*
SILENCE!!!!!! The boys went to a field to practice some soccer skills, and the pups are asleep. The t.v. is off, and I’m just taking in the silence. #ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
———————————————
*What I’m wearing.*
So I have 3 of the like buttah tees: burgundy, black, and white. They are such a wonderful basic and are incredibly soft. You can wear them out, but I prefer to do a 1/2 tuck with most of my outfits. They drape nicely and just feel great!
I have a small in all 3 of them, and the small is perfect in the burgundy and the black…but the small in white is huge. I’m not sure if it’s a mistake or if the white is sized differently. I’ve ordered the x-small in white, but it’s on backorder, so I’ll let you know when I receive it.
Here it is in burgundy. You know that plaid scarf I’ve been showing y’all pretty much every day for a week now? Well, it looks good with the burgundy tee, even though there’s not any burgundy in the scarf. I showed almost the exact same outfit below last week with the fringe infinity scarf (see that outfit HERE), but it looks totally different with the plaid scarf!
Do you have the pants yet? At almost 5’4″, I’m wearing the 27P.

And this is the same base outfit you saw above with the waterfall faux leather jacket. I just switched out the jacket for the fringe infinity scarf and added my beloved Frye bag!

*What I’m doing this weekend.*
So for a couple of months now I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a new rug. As you can see below, the rug in there now is a soft greyish green. The problem is, the dining room actually gets a lot of traffic, and the rug is really showing signs of wear. I often sit at the end of the table and blog…and I do all of my try on sessions in front of the mirror that sits in the front of the room.
So I’ve been thinking about going darker. I love this one, but it’s not the right size. It’s not a terrible deal at $1700 (and I love that it’s one of a kind!), but because of the traffic that this room gets, I want to try to find one that is super affordable.
I got excited when I found this one! It’s much more affordable at $555 for the largest size, but it’s not quite the right dimensions. I also think it would be great as a runner in my kitchen between the kitchen and the stove. I like how it would disguise the wear and tear….the only problem is, the chairs I have in the corner of the room are a red and cream check….so it might be way too much red and not enough contrast. So, what do y’all think? Any and all rug suggestions are welcome!
*Bonus Question: What is your favorite Thanksgiving side dish?*
A couple of year’s ago, one of Chris’s extended family members (Love you, Sue Sue!) let me know about a recipe she had made. She told me it was called “pineapple casserole”, and I turned up my nose at the thought. I mean, I love pineapple…but in a casserole? No thank you. In an effort to convince me of how delicious it was, she listed off the ingredients. It didn’t convince me. It did quite the opposite in fact.
HOWEVER….a couple of weeks later I was headed to our annual Christmas party and recipe exchange at Shay‘s house, and this recipe popped into my head. I’m always looking for unusual recipes (so I can hopefully win the contest!), and I was pretty sure I couldn’t get any more unusual than this.
WELL. People initially scoffed at the idea of a pineapple casserole, just like I had.
And then they tried it.
And they they loved it.
And then I won the recipe contest that night.
The End.
🙂

I need one of those like buttah tees in every color! Thanks for the tip! And your son is so precious!
Erika Slaughter says
Sheaffer!!! I have so many things to say…1. So many goodies you’ve found lately. I’m loving all the fall colors. 2. I’ve been thinking about changing our living room rug too. I love both of your options! 3. And those pictures of baby Carter!!
Laura says
If you want a really affordable rug (our 9×12′ was under $400), check out the brand Safavieh. We have 3 now in high traffic areas (living room, play room, hallway runner). They hold up great and are easy to clean. Once I find a design I like, I’ll price compare (Overstock, Wayfair, and Home Depot websites). If the kids destroy them, I won’t have to cry 🙂
Sheaffer says
Thanks for the tip, Laura! Going to check them out! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Megan says
Well I for one think balsamic fig chicken sounds devine. You’re fellas don’t know what they’re missing!

Jaclyn @coffeepancakesanddreams says
Your little guy at 3 -omg too cute. He looks so much like you and your sister!
Honestly, might be just my style but I’d suggest a more neutral rug. Something that you won’t get sick of for years to come and that if you change the room in any other way, would still match.
Shay Shull says
Three things! 1. Thank you so much for posting about Simmers! 2. I want to be the girl in the striped tee and tall boots. 3. I bought that leopard Barrington bag and it’s so darn cute!!!
Bethany says
I cannot wait to try Hello Fresh when we move back to the States. I also will be excite do listen to silence of a day =)
HB says
I have the cargo pants! I got both colors during the sale and loooove them. One question though, do the flaps on your back pockets curl up and poke out at the corners?? I think it’s from sitting, but I noticed that while out and about one day. They were poking through my tee like my rear had horns! I still wear them, but I’m trying to figure out how to keep those things down.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Holli! I haven’t had that problem!!! Sorry I’m not more help! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Michelle Nordstrom says
I’d get fabric glue and glue them shut. Thank you TLC What Not to Wear’s Clinton for the tip years ago.
Kim says
Love everything about you and your blog!! On the buttah tee, you refer to it as white, I see ivory but no plain white. Is that the color of your tee or is white not available? I know my ivory one is back ordered a cpl weeks. Thanks so much!!
Sheaffer says
The one I ordered was called “ivory”, but it’s definitely white! Hope this helps, Kim! xoxo, Sheaffer
Narci says
Baby Carter is my favorite thing ever!! So cute! ????????????
Michelle Nordstrom says
Ok here’s the thing with the rugs. One is wool and the other is estenaially plastic. So it may be cheaper but it’s because it’s a cheaper fiber and you will end up replacing it again. So then you will have had 3 rugs for the price of what the wool one is. The wool you won’t wear out. My husband and I own a floor covering store so this is my public service announcement ????If you came in my store and wanted something long wearing for him traffic I wouldn’t sell you the polypropylene. Nylon or wool always.
Alison @ Get Your Pretty On says
Yes to “Simmers”! I’ve been getting lots of recipes from there lately – with this cold front, it’s perfect! That tee is super cute and versatile.
Shannon Grundy says
Pineapple casserole is the bomb-diggity! My husband’s grandmother has made this each Thanksgiving and Christmas every since I’ve been in the family, which is 26 yrs. Always look forward to it.
Lea Culp says
You have the MOST beautiful smile, just thought I’d tell you. :o)) So glad I found your blog. I’m off now to check out the cute tops with the little ruffle. Perhaps I’m not to old to wear such, well, at least in spirit I’m not. :o)) I so enjoyed linking up today. Blessings to you!
Sheaffer says
What a sweet thing to say, Lea! Thank you so much! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Bette says
A tip I learned years ago from a home decorator is to add carpet around your favorite rug to make it fit your room exactly. Carpet stores do it all the time.
Keisha Dawson says
I had a friend send me a referral code for Hello Fresh last week, and my first order arrives today. I’m excited to try it for our super busy weeks! I’m glad to know you like it.
Sheaffer says
You will totally love it, Keisha!!!!
Casey says
Okay I want to order those suede, heeled Sole Society boots ASAP! Do they run true to size for you?
Sheaffer says
Yes, Casey! True to size!!!! Aren’t they adorable!!!! xoxo, Sheaffer 😉
Erica says
Hi Sheaffer! I’ve been following you for several months now and love you!….my husband, however, doesn’t like you at all because somehow my clothing budget has increased substantially since then. Hmmmmm…..????
Anyway, I’m a Loft lover too and recently bought these pants. Oh. My. Gosh. They are the long lost cousin of #pajamajeans. You should check them out!

Definitely check out rugsusa.com! I’ve been purchasing rugs for a few years from them and they are great quality and even better prices! I’d highly recommend for affordable rugs & their website has so many options.
Good luck on the search 🙂
June An says
So much good stuff and great recommendations. Your apple caramel dip recipe a few years back has been a go-to for me at holiday time. I had a question about your dining table and chairs (which you probably already have discussed but I can’t find it) – where did you get them? I have been on the hunt and cannot find anything I like, until now. Love everything about them.
Sheaffer says
Hi, June! We get most of our furniture from Weir’s…but the dining table and chairs are actually from Stacy Furniture in Allen. They are three years old now, so I’m not sure if they still have them. Hope this helps! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Sam says
I love that pineapple casserole! It is surprisingly amazing!
Michelle says
Such a cute post today! Carter is so adorable—at all ages :). I LOVE your Barrington bag. I am always so tempted to try one. Curious about the material/fabric/nylon-not sure what to call it. Is it stiff? Cleanable? And Brussels sprouts is actually correct lol. Thanks for all your great ideas! Oh, and one more thing! I love that reddish Persian rug. You can’t beat them! Good wool rugs can take years of wear and tear, traffic, spills, and just keep on going. ????
Sheaffer says
Hi, Michelle! Gosh, I’m not totally sure what the fabric is either, but yes….it’s always been easy to clean for me (by just wiping it off). The leather straps are thin, but they are EXTREMELY DURABLE! I’ve had a couple of bags for over 3 years and they’ve held up great! And no, I wouldn’t call it stiff at all! Hope this helps! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Bethany says
I really need to get that cookbook for the fall =)
Julee Patterson says
Hi, I was tempted to get those tall fringe Sole Society boots earlier this week, and I just told my husband that Sheaffer made me do it! Also, I know it is light and probably won’t work for your space, but I’m in love with the new Kinley rug at Pottery Barn. My house flooded, so I had a real excuse to get it as I replace things!
Mandi S says
I make that exact same pineapple casserole and I could literally eat all of it by myself! LOVE!
Diane says
I was really hoping you would try the Parker Petite Satchel from Barrington. Have you seen it in person? I really am drawn to that shape and have been wanting to try Barrington.
I’ve been enjoying your blog for about 2 1/2 years (back paged to start at the beginning!) and really enjoy it. I like it for style ideas for my fifty something self as well as for gifts for for my adult daughters and nieces. Thanks for keeping it informative, relevant and fun!!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Diane! I haven’t tried it because I know it’s too small for me. However, Barrington had a comparison picture on their instastories with the Savannah, the St. Anne, and the Parker….and I screen shot it so I can share it next week on Friday Favorites! xoxo, Sheaffer
Diane says
Looking forward to seeing that! Thank you for such a quick reply. : ) Especially with all you have going on with your dad. So many are praying for him and your family. God is good!
Sheaffer says
Thank you so much, Diane!
Kimberly says
I went online and purchased that Calson tunic the day you featured it (thank goodness, because now there are not many sizes left) and it came yesterday. It is FABULOUS!
