There’s a LIMITED TIME SALE going on at Nordstrom right now!!! We’re talking pages and pages of items that are marked down, but here are some of my top picks…
Oh wait! I should mention that there are tons of Mother jeans included.

I actually put the wrong pair of jeans on the above collage, I meant to put these. Because LOVE.

WHAT I’M WEARING
So this is supposed to be WHAT I’M CURRENTLY WEARING…
However, I’m not wearing most of this yet because it’s too dang hot.
But since these are items I think you might want to be shopping for right now, I thought it was the perfect time to show them.
I mean. How DARLING is this sweater. I love the quarter zip, and you know I love the color combo. It’s very soft and not itchy at all, even though it does have some wool in it. I thought styling it with black jeans and colorful sneakers was kind of an unexpected combo, but I really liked it! For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
These sneakers are adorable and they really pack a punch! I’m wearing the “Ice Lavender/ Orange/ Violet”, but they do come in several other color combinations. The vintage vibe is totally cool, and they are quite comfortable! The first time I put them on, I thought my foot looked kind of wide, but all I needed to do was tighten the laces, and then I thought they were very flattering! I would suggest sizing down a 1/2 for sure.

I have this exact sweater in SEVERAL colors and love it.
I’m wearing the “toasted brown” here and think it’s such a warm and wonderful fall color. It would be great on Thanksgiving Day. It’s a relaxed fit, so there’s plenty of room for mashed potatoes and pie. For size reference, I’m wearing a small. I have medium in another color, and I like the fit of that one too.
sweater / straight leg ankle jeans / ink + alloy beaded earrings / similar cross necklace / gold bracelet stack / booties
I’ve got another striped 1/4 zip sweater. Because why not.
This one is a much more relaxed fit than the pink and orange sweater I showed at the beginning of today’s post. I like the pink and brown combo, and the ribbed collar and cuffs are super cute. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium, but I think I would actually prefer the fit of a small.
striped sweater / earrings / multicolor beaded necklace / coin toggle necklace / frayed hem ankle jeans / belt (pecan gold) / bracelet set / leopard Mary Janes
This next sweater is very lightweight, so it’s good for early fall or to layer under a jacket. I’m wearing the “black striped rust”, but it comes in 14 total stripe color combos. It’s sweater material, but it fits kind of like a long sleeve t-shirt would. It’s a good one. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
light sweater / earrings / multicolor beaded necklace / coin toggle necklace / frayed hem ankle jeans / belt (pecan gold) / bracelet set / leopard Mary Janes
This floral blouse has a split neck, subtle puff shoulders, and a cute little gathered cuff that creates a little ruffle at the wrist. This is the “c brown”, I’m wearing it here casually with jeans, but you could definitely dress it up for the office. For size reference I’m wearing a small, but I definitely need a medium. It was way too tight in the chest.

Okay, y’all This button down cardigan is straight up fabulous. It comes in 5 colors, and I really love the olive green stripe too. It’s hard to see here because of my dark hair, but it does have a collar. The buttons are tortoise and are functional. This is definitely a sweater you can wear open like below, or you could button it up and wear it without a tee under it. It’s got a little bit of length on it and hits right at my hips. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

This ruched sleeve blazer is stretchy, it’s comfy, it’s got some really cool ruched sleeves, and it comes in 8 colors. It has over 1,000 reviews, and a great majority are 5-stars!
The blazer is made of a scuba knit that’s a great medium weight and soft as all get out. Wear it to the office with a nice pair of slacks and mules, wear it around town like I’ve styled it below, or wear it to date night with boot cut jeans and heels! I do have 1 complaint that you can kind of see below. Do you see how the lapel isn’t laying completely flat? I think those of us with big busts might need to have the lapels tacked down. I don’t want to size up because it would be too big everywhere else, so I’m sticking with the medium. There are several people that reviewed the blazer and posted pictures online and it doesn’t seem to be a problem for anybody else, so that’s great news!

My cross necklace was a gift from Chris a couple of years ago, but you can find one that looks very similar AND IT’S ON SALE at Nordstrom HERE.
My photos don’t do the halo necklace justice, so you need to take my word for it. It’s beautiful. It’s really incredibly pretty in person, so prepare yourself that people will think it’s real. You will get tons of compliments on it. Now, if you’re me, when you get a compliment on it you’ll pretty much shout “I got it on flash deal for ONLY $17.99!” If you’re normal, you will just smile and say “thank you”. 🙂
It is too early to wear this little hoodie and pants set right now, but sets like this from this brand often sell out, which is why I’m highlighting it now instead of waiting. I showed it to you in black a couple of weeks ago, but it was a medium and too big AND I realized me having it in black wasn’t a great idea because it showed every strand of dog hair. So I ordered it in grey in a small. I like the color and the fit.
Last week the neutral (brown acorn) was sold out in my size, but I just saw that it’s back! It was the color that I was really wanting, and I was super bummed that I wasn’t able to get it originally, so I’m seriously considering keeping the grey AND buying the brown acorn.

As a reminder, here it is in black…

WHAT WE ARE EATING
I saw a recipe on Instagram last week that intrigued me. I thought I saved it, but when I went back to look at it it wasn’t there…so I had to recreate it from what I remembered from the video. I have no idea who published the recipe or how close (or how far) the recipe I’m about to give you is from the original…but I’ll tell you what I did.
Take a large burrito sized tortilla and place it in a round pan. Spray it with Pam, and then fill it with the egg mixture.
My egg mixture is 3 eggs, about 1/2 a cup of low fat cottage cheese, a couple heaping spoonfuls of pico de gallo, a handful of spinach, some shredded pepperjack cheese, and salt and pepper. Bake it at 350 degree for 30 minutes until the eggs are full cooked. About 15 minutes in, I cover the top with halved cherry tomatoes and then bake it off for the last 15 minutes.
Look how pretty it is! The edges are crispy, the egg mixture is creamy, and it’s so delicious. One day I was hungry and ate just about the whole thing in one sitting. Another day I ate half of it with a cup of the Organic Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Soup I love from Trader Joe’s.
Another item I cooked for the first time is this big ol’ pot of borracho beans. Carter LOVES borracho beans, so he asked me to try to make them at home. I looked at several recipes on Pinterest and combined what I liked from all of them. Here’s what I did…
I snipped up and browned 8 pieces of bacon, and then I added 1 white onion chopped), several spoonfuls of some pre-made pico de gallo, and some finely chopped garlic to the bottom of the pot. After the onion was properly cooked, I added a can of fire roasted tomatoes, a small can of green chiles, and 2 bay leaves.
Then I added 4 cans of pinto beans and let it all simmer on low in the crock pot all day long. Add some fresh cilantro at the end and BAM. You’ve got some dang good beans.
If you don’t have a crock pot that you love, you should 1000% get this one. We have one in McKinney and one at the ranch, and we use both of them all the time. We use it for queso, for beans, for Mississippi pot roast, for soups, for pulled pork, for salsa verde chicken. and the list goes on.
Right now it’s on sale for $19 off, so there’s no reason not to throw it in your cart right now.
The first recipe I ever made in it was King Ranch Chicken Soup. YUM! Click HERE for that post.
I met my friend Meagan over the weekend in downtown McKinney for some shopping and lunch. We ate at Patina Green, probably my favorite place to eat on the square. It’s a farm to table restaurant with a small but mighty menu. You can choose from a handful of sandwiches as well as some freshly made sides from the fridge. Their tomato soup is to die for, and they have it every day. Yes, that is a fresh corn relish you see on top. Meagan and I each got a sandwich and then traded halves. That’s a poblano grilled cheese on sourdough on the left and a turkey and pimento cheese on rye on the right. Click HERE to see their current menu.

My friend Jenny put this on her Instagram stories, and boy it spoke right to my soul.

WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT
You know how at the bottom of each blog post there are 3 thumbnails of random previous posts? Well, last week the below thumbnail appeared, and I clicked on it because I thought I remembered this outfit as being one of my first posts.
WELL GUESS WHAT.
It was the outfit from my VERY FIRST post!
The picture below on August 14, 2012 was the very first post I ever published on Pinterest Told Me To.
For those of you that haven’t been around since the beginning, I started the blog as Pinterest Told Me To and I rebranded to Sheaffer Told Me To in 2016. My first posts all followed the format you see below. I would take an outfit that I had pinned on Pinterest, and I would recreate it (with things that were usually already in my closet), hence the name Pinterest Told Me To. It was tons of fun, but lots of the pieces I used were old, and then readers would be annoyed that I couldn’t direct them where to get the pieces. For that reason (and many other reasons), I changed over to Sheaffer Told Me To. And instead of recreating pinned outfits, I just created my own.
Click HERE for my first ever post!

WHAT I’M WATCHING
Have y’all watched The Perfect Couple? It’s based on an Elin Hildebrand book of the same name. And although I never read the book, I did enjoy the series. This flash mob style dance they did in the intro each episode might have been my favorite thing.
The Voice has started back up (Season 26 kicked off on Monday), and the coaches are such a crazy mix AND I LOVE IT. The chemistry between them is incredible, and if the first episode is any indication, I will probably cry every episode. Snoop cried a couple of times on the first episode, and I was crying right along with him.
They are an unlikely foursome, but somehow it just works.
Snoop Dogg, Reeba, Gwen, and Michael Buble

Sheaffer, I love that you shared that first picture and the FIRST post!! It takes me right back to that day by the pool when you shared this idea with me. How crazy cool how God worked out so many details?! I just love it so much!
Erika Slaughter says
Sheaffer! Why have we not discussed this?? I LOVED The Perfect Couple but for the life of me, I couldn’t understand that opening flash mob scene??! WHY was that the intro?
Meli says
That’s so funny! I thought the intro was odd and then saw an article about how the cast did not want to dance or learn that flash mob. Probably seemed cheesy?
Sheaffer says
I read that article too, but I still LOVE the dance intro!!!! I think it’s so fun!

So fun that you shared your first post! I started reading when it was Pinterest Told Me To but never knew it started with one outfit. Guess that’s all it takes, right? And loved The Perfect Couple (shocking that you did not read it – ha!). I thought the intro went along with the party in the first episode – I really liked it – so fun and happy.
Thanks for all your inspiration through the years!
