Hey Everybody! Today is What’s Up Wednesday (we are doing it a week early because of Christmas), so it’s time to join up with me, Shay and Mel and let everybody know WHAT’S UP with you this fine Wednesday!
WHAT WE ARE EATING THIS WEEK
Whatever we can get our hands on. Seriously. Leftover taco soup on Monday, Breakfast for Dinner on Tuesday (Chris fries a mean egg), and who the heck knows the rest of this week!

WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT
Well, every year I pull this picture out. And every year I stare at it in awe of that precious little baby and his squishy little face. What I would give to rock that baby again.

WHAT I’M LOVING
I’m loving lots of things right now…
I loved that last week when it was Pajama Day at Carter’s school that he ROCKED his blardigan (his blue color is sold out, but it comes in 7 other colors). His awesome teacher had on her baby blardigan so it was of course picture worthy! We love Mrs. Finney and are so thankful that Carter is in her class! Mrs. Finney’s blardigan is taupe, just like mine.
I love that our school loads up the teachers in a trailer and that they go neighborhood to neighborhood caroling for the students. I’m telling you, the kids look at them like they are rock stars! It’s such a fun tradition, and I’m so grateful that they do this for our kids!
I also love this squishy little baby here with Carter. This picture is of Carter with his sweet new little cousin, Eliah! The picture is already a month old, but it was going on Chris’s parent’s Christmas card, so I didn’t want to show it before those went out. We are excited about getting to cuddle him again this week! LOOK AT THAT FACE!!!! 🙂
I’m also LOVING wooden kitchen accessories right now. And I thought Monday was my last Santa Alert, but I forgot that I’d already made this one! Wooden kitchen accessories are all the rage right now, and I found some great ones that would make awesome gifts. My favorite is #6, just in case anybody is interested. 🙂 And if you order at Nordstrom today, about 95% of their items still have guaranteed delivery by Christmas Eve with their FREE STANDARD SHIPPING!

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO
You saw on Friday Favorites last week that my favorite Christmas decorations I pull out every year are the hand and footprint Christmas canvases we made all the way back in 2011 and 2012. They are Carter’s favorite decorations too, and this year he requested that we make a couple more! So on our first Friday night of Christmas break, we got busy! This manger scene is my new favorite one we have. My foot is Mary, Chris’s foot is Joseph, Carter’s hands are the animals, and Carter’s foot is the angel. Look how proud he is!
We did this sweet little red bird one as well. Carter’s hand is on top and mine is on the bottom.
And here’s our entire collection! Carter has already chosen the two he thinks he wants to make next year. And I’m telling you right now, we will now be making them each and every year until he refuses. 🙂 I hope this whole wall is filled up by the time we’re done! (Several of you have asked, and we use Command velcro tape to attach them to the wall.)

WHAT I’M WORKING ON
I’ve received lots of requests recently for a house tour. I think I might start working on doing a room here and there on Friday Favorites, but today I thought I would give you some peeks into our Christmas decor today! Here’s the front of the house!

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT
My new hairdryer!!!!! Okay, y’all. After getting a GLOWING recommendation from a reader that pretty much insisted that I needed to try this hairdryer, I hopped online to read about it. And a large number of reviews were so incredible that I threw caution to the wind and bought it. Even though it was around 4x as much as I’ve ever spent on a hairdryer in my life. I’ll tell you how much it is if you promise to not choke. $195. I KNOW. I justified it by saying it was a Christmas present. But that theory kind of flew out the window when I couldn’t resist the urge to break it out of the box last week. The reviews on it were just too good. I’ll have a personal review on it next week (spoiler alert: I LOVE IT), but I wanted to go ahead and throw it out there today as well because it’s just that good. And maybe you want to beg somebody for it for Christmas. Click HERE for the dryer, and click HERE for all Drybar products (lots would make great presents)!
Also, I noticed this morning on the Nordstrom site that there are TONS of items that now have a cute little “Get By Christmas Eve” graphic that pops up beside them. I did a little digging, and found that many of my favorite items have those graphics, so I made a little collage! You might have waited till the last minute to buy a gift, but you can still be a GIFT HERO!!!!

WHAT I’M WATCHING
We’ve watched a ton of family movies since Carter got out of school last Friday. ELF and Home Alone are always favorites…but we also kicked it old school and watched Goonies. And then we went WAY BACK and introduced him to the wonder that is Space Camp.

WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND
CHRISTMAS, of course! We’ll be heading to the Christmas Eve service on Saturday night, and then both families will come over to our house for Christmas day. And we’ll also be spending some time at the ranch. Pictures to follow on Friday Favorites next week!

WHAT I’M WEARING
My comfy streak continues, ladies. Earlier this week I broke out my leggings. Yes, AGAIN. And I paired them with a super comfy cozy fleece tunic. I’m wearing a small in the tunic, so I think it’s true to size. And it really is sooooooo amazingly soft and cozy! The military jacket that is linked runs really big. Size down at least 1 size! And the BLACK MUST HAVE LEGGINGS are ON SALE!

When I purchased the top, I was excited about the cowl neck and the off the shoulder options. However, I will tell you that I was not able to make the off the shoulder option work for me. The fabric was way too tight for me to pull down off the shoulder and have it lay correctly. But I love it so much as the cowl neck, that I’m not worried about the fact that I can’t wear it the other way.

I WISH I was wearing this next outfit as well. I found all these pieces on sale, and thought they made a super cute outfit all together! The camo jacket has gone in and out of stock since I found it yesterday, so fingers crossed it’s going to get restocked! I have a camo jacket from a couple of years ago that I absolutely love.

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH
We have fun plans to head to the family ranch house with friends!

FAVORITE MEMORY OF 2016
Okay, so I racked my brain to come up with an awesome memory to share with y’all. And I couldn’t. So then I asked Chris to help me, and he came up with nothing as well. WHAT IN THE WORLD? So, instead of a specific favorite memory, I would just say that our favorite times this year have been spent just the three of us, snuggling up on the couch and watching a movie….or hanging out at the ranch together. Losing Scout is the big memory that sticks out to me from this year, and it was so hard on all of us. But we all loved each other through it. I do have some exciting news to report…we have plans to add a new fur baby to our home late spring or early summer!
Now don’t forget to link up!

So many things to say: your house looks beautiful this Christmas with the decorations and I think room tours is an excellent idea!! That picture of Carter and Eliah just about made me cry! Sheaffer, that pic is precious! And I am obsessed with anything Drybar. Now, I feel like I need the blow dryer…and I don’t even blow dry my hair.

Hi, Megan! It’s a Bernhardt that we got from Weir’s! We love it!
Erika slaughter says
I’m SO excited for you guys!!! May can’t get here soon enough. I’m with you on all things comfy cozy right now. Do I have to wear pants that BUTTON? Ugh! 🙂
Jill says
Beautiful house and I love those canvases! What a cute idea.
Sara says
A good hair dryer can totally change your hair! Don’t even feel bad about yours….mine cost close to $300 and that was 25% off. It dries my hair so quickly without killing it. My hair has never been softer! The cheaper ones I used to buy would burn out after a year so I’m hoping this one has a good long life too.
Is that Scout’s stocking hanging on your mantle? So sweet. Losing a pet is so hard because they do become members of the family.
Laci says
Beautiful Home!! Merry Christmas and thank you for always blogging and giving us gals the heads up when something is out there we can’t live without! Love a good hair dryer, I bought the babyliss this past summer and it cut my dry time down too. I love anything drybar! 🙂
Stephanie says
I bit the bullet on the Drybar hairdryer and love it, I was able to find a 25% off promo code for Ulta, so it helped on the price. It is worth every penny!
A Friend says
I have already picked up 3 of those fringed scarves (great price!). They are nice and lightweight and look great; come in fashionable colors. I might have to give a couple away but I don’t want to!!
Kelly says
So much goodness in this post! I love your Christmas decor, can’t wait for a house tour! And those canvases, absolutely precious! I wish I had seen these earlier, so fun to do with the grandchildren. Definitely on the list for next year. Did you get the idea from Pinterest ;). Seriously, I’ve not seen them before. When you lost Scout this year, my heart hurt for you. And I’m not even a huge animal lover (don’t tell our dog;) so thrilled about the new puppy for the Sims family!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Kelly! Yes, I just typed “handprint Christmas art” in Pinterest for the ideas! Thanks for the sweet words! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Kelly says
Your house is beautiful! May I ask where you purchased the blue shelf on the wall near your table came from?
Thanks
Sheaffer says
Hi, Kelly! The chaklboard? It got it at Homegoods, but it was 2 years ago and I haven’t seen it since. 🙁 xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Kelly says
Yes, the chalkboard. Bummer!
Thanks for the response. Merry Christmas!
Lori Johnson says
Just love your blog, I have been reading it for years now and have shared it with several friends that also read it now. Your house and decorations are beautiful. And I am just so excited that you are getting a new golden pup!! I cried like a baby when you talked about losing scout (I am also a golden retriever person 🙂 I hope you have a Merry Christmas!!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Lori! Thank you so much for sharing the blog and for the sweet words! We are so excited for the puppy too!!!! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Dawn says
Your home is just lovely! I was wondering about the pillow with the truck on it.. May I ask where you got it? Thanks for a great blog. Merry Christmas from my family to yours.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Dawn! It was from Target a couple of years ago! Merry Christmas! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Jody says
We lost our golden this year as well. He was 14. We love goldens! So excited for your new pup! Merry Christmas Sheaffer! As always, love your blog!
Stephanie says
I know this is probably a dumb question but what is the difference between the Blardigan and the Baby Blardigan?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Stephanie! The shapes are totally different. The original blardigan is quite a bit longer and has a more free flowing shape. The baby blardigan is a bit more structured, not as long or free flowing, and it has pockets. Hope this helps! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Stacey says
After reading your post I bought the dryer as a gift to myself and it has cut my time in 1/2. I can have my hair dry now in 4 minutes! I LOVE it! I also bought Suspend and my 19 yr old son and I have been having fun practicing for Christmas Day! I know the whole family will have fun with it!
I have bought so many things that have turned out to be my favorite things from reading your blog! Thank you for all of your work you put into your blog, you have saved me so much time in the mall! You truly are a blessing!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Stacey! Thank you so much for the kind words! Soooo excited about Suspend. I want to break it out now! And I’m so happy to hear your love the dryer so much. It really is incredible! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Melanie Parker says
OHHH, I hope you have a better experience with Dry Bar products than I have had… 2 flat irons completely died on me after just a few months, so I am a little skeptical of any of their products.
I will agree a good quality blow dryer can change your life. I have a Rusk Speed Freak and it gives me ALL THE HEART EYES!!!!
Hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Melanie! I saw that the flat irons don’t have nearly as good reviews as the hairdryer does. Crossing my fingers it lasts!!!!! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Michelle says
Shaeffer!! I love the bits of your home you shared with us. It’s lovely!! Hope your Christmas was fabulous. Always look forward to your blog/insta posts!
