Insiders….it’s YOUR TURN!!! Finally, I know! It’s taken a sweet forever, but now it’s your time to shine! Back away people, the Insiders are about to tear it up. This is going to be fun. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opens at 8:30 a.m. CST, so if you’re an early riser, you have plenty of time to pour over this post and get a game plan. (EVERYBODY can shop on Wednesday of next week.)
I styled several outfits for today’s post, all with favorite pieces from the sale. And as of Thursday night, everything I’m featuring today appeared to be pretty well stocked, with the exception of the neutral mules. Here’s hoping stock will hold throughout the day!
Now before we even start with the outfits, you should probably go grab at least 3 of these. SERIOUSLY. At $24.90 I think they are possibly the best value in the entire sale, and they make the best gifts for pretty much anybody and everybody in your life. Please just trust me. Get AT LEAST 3. #or5
BLAZER AND JEANS
Let’s kick things off with lots of several UNDER $50 favorites from the sale: this blazer (crazy that’s it’s under $50!), these dark wash ankle jeans (under $45), and the gorgeous blingy hoop earrings (under $50).
I mean, HOW CUTE IS THIS OUTFIT.
AND HOW FLIPPING DARLING IS THIS BLAZER.
Here’s the first thing you need to know about it…drum roll please…it’s STRETCHY.
It’s a STRETCHY BLAZER. WHICH IS GENIUS.
It’s got a whole lot of stretch in it, but it’s like a totally legit blazer. And because it’s got so much give, you aren’t uncomfortable and you don’t feel restricted wearing it like I always do with normal blazers.
Here’s the second thing you need to know…it’s ONLY $49.90!
And notice how when you turn up the cuffs on this black one, there’s a little pinstripe lining inside. Such a fabulous detail! I’m wearing a medium here because I have boobs and my rib cage and shoulders are kind of broad too, but I think most of you will be totally good in your regular size.
If you are still working from home and doing Zoom meetings, throw this blazer over any tee and you’ll be Zoom ready and still comfy! If you work in an office, this jacket needs to go in your cart asap. I don’t work in an office, and I’m still thrilled to have it in my closet now.
I die over the pinstripes in the cuffs. DIE.
Let’s talk about THE JEANS. Since I’m wearing them in the majority of the pictures on this post, I wanted to go ahead and take a closer look at them.
First off, these babies are $44.90. WHAT IN THE WORLD.
If you are looking for a classic pair of dark wash jeans with no distressing, LOOK NO FURTHER. I like distressing as much as the next gal, but I always need “clean” pairs in my closet as well. I love darker denim in Fall and Winter, and the dark wash makes them easy to dress up if you’d like. For size reference, I’m wearing my regular size 4 (not petite).
They are Wit and Wisdom, and they’ve got the Ab-Solution technology that we are all obsessed with. The power mesh panels slim and hold, they suck you in, but the jeans still manage to be super comfortable. Here’s the deal, I only wear jeans with stretch in them now. Life’s too short to wear non-stretchy jeans. Somebody needs to needlepoint that on a pillow.
These neutral block heel booties in “tortilla suede” are GORGEOUS. The color is beautiful and the stacked block heel is the perfect height (says 3 1/2″, but doesn’t feel that high at all). They are easy to walk in and quite comfy for a heeled bootie! I love these with skinny cropped jeans, with my boot cut jeans, and they’ll look good with Fall dresses too. True to size for me.
I think this is a really smart and classic look.
And how is it that this blazer is just as perfect for the office as it is for a date night? I don’t know, BUT IT IS.
CAMO JACKET, JEANS, AND WEDGE SNEAKERS
The under $50 items in this outfit are everything but the camo jacket, and it’s still a great deal at under $60!
This is exactly the type of outfit I love to wear all Fall long.
This camo jacket was maybe the biggest surprise of the sale for me! When I saw it online, I wasn’t interested at all. When I saw it on the hanger, I decided to give it a chance. After I slipped it on, I fell in love and ended up bringing it home with me. The hood is removable, so if you take it off, you have a more classic camo military style jacket.
It looks boxy and shapeless on the site, but that’s not the case at all! The waist can be cinched in and out, which really helps with styling. For size reference, I’m wearing a small. I would suggest sizing down if between sizes.
I can hardly believe that these awesome sneaks are just under $50! WHAT A DEAL.
This “tan camel” is just the neutral I was looking for in a great pair of neutral wedge sneakers, but they come in leopard and black too. They are very easy to get on with the side zip and heel tab, and the the comfort level is ON POINT. I think a wedge sneaker like this is an essential part of a Fall wardrobe. True to size for me.
And if you wanted to dress the outfit up a bit, you could wear a long pendant necklace and heeled booties!
It’s a really great outfit.
LIGHTWEIGHT SWEATER AND SLIP ON SNEAKERS
This sweater is another under $50 find!
This lightweight sweater has a relaxed oversized fit and a high low hem. It’s really soft because it has just a touch of cashmere in it. The high low hem makes a front tuck difficult, so I would suggest just wearing it out. I’m wearing a small, and it’s still very roomy, so you might consider sizing down. I like the slouchy (but not sloppy) fit of the small on me.
It’s very versatile and can be dressed up or down as you’ll see.
This striped cross body bag screams Fall, and you see that it goes with so many different outfits. And it not only goes with them, it kicks up the cute level too.
THESE SLIP ON SNEAKERS ARE FANTASTIC. I hadn’t even noticed them when browsing online, but when I saw them in store, I knew I had to try them. They’ve got a tiny bit of a platform, are extremely comfortable, and they don’t slip off at all when walking. True to size for me.
Most sneakers like these that I’ve tried in the past tend to be a little too clunky for my taste, but not these! They have a slim profile and look very feminine. I went for the camo (even though it’s a darker camo than I wouldn’t typically go for), but the “black” and the “pavement” are great options too and I love the texture on the solid colors.
This outfit is super comfy and casual, and I love it.
And to switch it up just a bit…
Taking it from casual with the camo slip on sneakers and striped bag to a bit dressier with the TB cross body and the mules with the gold chain.
These blingy hoop earrings are one of my favorite buys from the sale. They are seriously gorgeous.
This Tory Burch cross body bag is fabulous.
I’m in love with the black, brown, taupe, and white color combo. This neutral color combo will go with so much! And the signature TB logo is so pretty! The cross body strap is removable, so you could also carry this bag as a clutch.
These neutral mules are great, but I’m afraid they are sold out in most sizes. Several other color options are still available though (including black and leopard)!
COWL NECK SWEATER and GREY JEANS
This final outfit is SO FALL.
This rust colored sweater is so soft, so cozy, and I love the relaxed turtleneck. I’m wearing a small, and it’s still very roomy. I’ve got it half tucked here, but if worn out, it does cover my back end. Size down if you want a less slouchy look. It comes in several colors.
These drop earrings are light as a feather, but make quite a statement with their dangly little charms.
These grey jeans are awesome. They also have the Ab-Solution technology AS ALL JEANS SHOULD.
I love the color and think they will be a great alternative this Fall. I like that I’ll be able to throw them in the mix amidst all of the blue denim I’ve got. For size reference, I’m wearing my regular size 4, but after seeing these pictures, I realize that I need to try the petites in these particular jeans so they’ll leave a little ankle showing between the hem of the jeans and booties. If the petites are too short, then I’ll get these jeans hemmed a bit because I like them that much.
These leopard booties were a surprise to me. I didn’t love them online, but I did in person. The leopard pattern is so good, and the little studs are such a nice detail! I would normally think a stud was too much on a shoe like this, but I think they’re great on these. True to size. Even though I love these, I’m unsure if I’m going to keep them. I have a pair of leopard booties I love from last year, so I’ve decided I don’t think I need these too.
ITEMS STILL AVAILABLE IN SALE!
I know there are many of you that are super sad that things that were originally on your Wish List are no longer available, and I totally get that. But don’t despair, I’ve gone over all of my previous posts, and I’m going to repost everything here that I love that is still available.
THE BEST VALUE OF THE ENTIRE SALE
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times….this blanket is one of THE BEST VALUES OF THE ENTIRE SALE.
IT’S $24.90 y’all, it’s soft as all get out, it looks pretty (I love the fringe!), and it launders great. Buy SEVERAL for your own home (just to keep your family from fighting over it), and then buy them as gifts too. THIS BLANKET IS AMAZING.
Throw one over the back of your couch, throw one on the foot of your bed, and pile them up in a great basket. You’re going to want to have plenty on hand or your family will fight over them. I’m not even kidding.
Click HERE for the throw. It makes a FANTASTIC Christmas present for anybody on your list. Seriously, ANYBODY. It’s also a great graduation present. STOCK UP ON THESE BABIES.
PAJAMAS AND INTIMATES
Are you like me? Do you buy a new pair of these pajamas every year when the sale comes around? Last year I grabbed the long navy striped ones, so this year I bought the short navy floral pair. I’ve talked about these the last couple of years, and I was excited that both the pants and the shorts are both in the sale again. I’m wearing a small in both. I usually size up in pajamas, but I’m able to stick to my regular smalls in these.
These pajamas are insanely soft, have such a cute fit, and wash like a dream. Click HERE for other pajama choices in the sale.
The UGG slippers are an incredible deal.
I first purchased THIS BRA several years ago during the sale, and it’s become a tradition to get a new one every year. It’s expensive when not on sale ($72), but I have found that it’s SO WORTH the money. Grabbing it at the sale price at $47.90 is a no brainer. I named it a MUST HAVE several years ago, and I know so many of you are believers now too! If you doubt me, just check out the online reviews. The cups are perfectly rounded, it has just the right amount of lining, and the material is oh so comfy. And look how pretty the straps are! Click HERE for the bra. True to size for me. I also really love this bra. It’s just under $40, and I got the pretty blush color.
I discovered the THESE UNDIES 4 years ago during the sale, and now they have a cult following. (They are called “girl briefs”, but they are definitely for women.) They stay in place without digging into the skin, rolling down, etc. Plus, they are pretty with the lace detailing. And I’m telling you, you can barely even tell you have them on! I wear a small, so they are true to size for me. I initially bought 1 pair to try several years ago, and then I immediately hopped on and purchased 3 more. Since my initial purchase, I’ve probably purchased 20 additional pair. When I found myself sad when they were all in the laundry, I started grabbing several pair every time they were on sale. Life’s too short to wear undies that you don’t love. You can quote me on that. It seems that my life mantras are all about comfort.
I get sooooo many comments from readers that say that they stock up on these every single year as well!
OH…and very important…I DO NOT HAND WASH THESE UNDIES! Who in the world would do that? I just wash them with everything else!!!
AND CHECK THIS OUT! The strapless bra that I’ve been raving about for 6 years now (and have turned so many of y’all onto) is NOW IN THE SALE! My friend Meagan finally bought one last year, and she kept texting me about it saying things like “My saggy boobies have been perfectly happy and supported since 7 a.m. They feel confident again!” And days later “I’ve decided I only want to wear the strapless bra. Always.” YEP, THAT’S RIGHT. So many of us wear this strapless EVEN WHEN WE DON’T HAVE TO WEAR A STRAPLESS. That’s pretty much unheard of, y’all! Sizing tips: Some buy their regular size, and some size up in the band or the cup.
Click HERE for this strapless. Even if you are large chested, you need to try this bra. And you see it also comes with detachable straps. You can wear them straight, you can criss cross them in the back, or you can of course take them off all together.
AND, if you are a Hanky Panky devotee, don’t you worry! My favorite regular rise thongs can be found HERE.
As long as we’re talking about cozy things, let’s continue the conversation.
You can’t get much cozier than the items seen here, but the bralette shown is almost out of stock.
Luckily, this bralette also has fantastic reviews and the stock is holding better. I ordered it to try for myself, so I will report back, but the reviews are really amazing so you might want to grab it before it’s gone too. I know I just declared 2020 the year of the joggers, but maybe it should be declared the year of the bralette. I mean, WHO NEEDS UNDERWIRE RIGHT NOW. So I tried the bralette and I didn’t love it. The lace under the bust line kind of fit me weird and didn’t stay put like I wanted it to.
Let’s talk sizes: I wear the x-small/small in the blardigan, a medium in the bra (although the picture shows a large because it’s all they had and I needed a new one for this shot), and a small in the undies (although the picture shows mediums because I needed a new pair for the shot).
If you want an easy and inexpensive pajama set, I got you. The tee is just under $12 and the pants are just under $20! For size reference, I’m wearing a medium in the tee and a small in the pants. Several color options available.
You saw all of these shoes in the outfits at the top of today’s post! I just wanted to show them again here all in 1 spot.
I also ended up getting these neutral mules, which you saw above in today’s post.
I ordered these rose gold sneakers for myself, even thought they are from the little kid’s department. What can I say, the rose gold spoke to me. I’m a 6.5, I ordered a 5.5, and they arrived yesterday and are perfect. UPDATE: The second time I put the rose gold sneakers on, I realized that they are way too wide across the toes. So they are now going back. I’m so sad!
These Sorel booties were one of my Top 5 favorite purchases from all of 2019, and I was THRILLED when I saw they were in the sale this year. They are fully waterproof, have an elastic insert on the inside and asymmetrical zip closure on the outside. They are easy to get off and on, and they have a removable padded insole. I love the wedge heel and the chunky textured sole. They give me some height, elongate my legs, and are still incredibly comfortable. True to size for me, but after reading reviews online, it seems like if you are between sizes that you should go up a 1/2 size.
In addition to the functionality, let’s talk about the fashion. Because they function great…BUT THEY LOOK GREAT TOO!
They somehow manage to be sporty, yet chic.
I ADORE THEM.
And OH MY WORD, I received literally hundreds of messages about these booties since I first introduced them at the very end of October last year. Everybody is so incredibly impressed with their comfort level and how they are so good at keeping our feet warm and dry.
Click HERE for the booties, they come in black and brown.
Here I am wearing them on my girl’s trip in Boston last year.
These leopard flats were on the READER FAVORITES list in 2019! They were also personal favorites for me, and I wore these babies from March to November. I was pumped to see them in the sale.
They are very comfy and true to size for me. Readers suggest if you have a wide foot to size up a 1/2. They also come in black leather, taupe, and snakeskin.
There are still great jewelry basics left in the sale! (The Michele watch is no longer available, but everything else is!)
I talked about this already, but the picture on the link for the blingy star necklace is a bracelet. I called Nordstrom and talked to somebody on the online merchandising team, and the link is in fact for the necklace (the description states a 15″ chain). They are working on getting the picture changed, but it might be a couple of days.
That disc chain just just under $20 (in today’s post!) and the other 2 necklaces are under $40. The earrings are what I was wearing in today’s post and they are gorgeous.
Let’s start out with a seriously cute and cozy outfit. I love this full jogger set.
The top is lightweight and incredibly cozy. I’m wearing a small in this one, but I would prefer the x-small.
These joggers are super soft, made out of the same cozy fleece as the top, and you’re going to want to wear them 24/7. I’m also wearing the regular smalls in the joggers; HOWEVER, they do have quite a bit of room. I actually prefer these joggers in a petite small on my frame. I have them pulled up a bit on my calves here to achieve the kind of cropped look.
So yeah, once you put the set on, you’re not going to want to take any of it off. But that’s okay. I will support you in your quest for comfort.
You buy both of these pieces separately, and they each come in several color options! And as you’ll see, you can mix and match different tops as well. Click HERE to see some of their other super soft top choices (that match the joggers). Some are color block, some are twist front, and some are v-neck.
I can tell you I’m going to be living in this set.
You can find similar Shoreline Converse sneakers HERE, but this outfit would be so cute with my new favorite camo slip on sneakers. And if you’re not into camo, they come in black and a neutral taupe color as well.
RESTOCK ALERT! I tried on MANY suede, leather, and faux leather jackets…and this suede moto jacket was the clear winner! It’s a great neutral color and I love the edgy hardware and the moto styling. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
These leopard jeans were a surprise for me. Aren’t they fabulous? They’ve got a great amount of stretch and are incredibly flattering! They’d be great fun on a date night or a girl’s night out. I’m wearing my regular size 4 in these. And one reminder to size way down in the sweater. I grabbed the xx small.
This leopard blouse is perfect for the office with a pair of nice black pants or a pencil skirt, but I think it looks awesome with jeans too. It’s classic, but totally sassy at the same time. It just flows nicely and isn’t clingy at all. I’m wearing a medium. They didn’t have a small for me to try on in store (they say it runs big), but I liked the fit of the medium just fine.
This is the same stretchy blazer you saw above, but now in red. Again, I’m in a medium.
This twist hem top is just under $30 and an incredible value! I love how it is drapes perfectly and has the adorable twist hem. It’s great with jeans, but definitely nice enough for the office as well. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
This year, the Anniversary Sale has lots of great graphic tee options! I’m wearing a medium in the sweatshirt (it’s super soft on the inside) and a small in the Indoorsy tee. I wish the cuffs were tighter on the tee, but I think the messaging is so on brand for 2020. Haha!
We of course have to talk about the itty bitty boot cut jeans in the sale.
I got my first pair (a super dark wash) like 5 years ago and named them a MUST HAVE way back then. Then I got a light wash and showed them to you just a couple of weeks ago (but the popular sizes sold out really fast).
WELL TODAY I’VE GOT THIS GREAT MEDIUM WASH! And the are UNDER $50. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR.
They are just as wonderful as the other boot cut jeans I’ve shown in the past. They lengthen your legs, they slim you out, they are incredibly comfortable, and they will make you look AND FEEL great. I’m wearing my regular 4s. I wear 3 inch block heels with them, and they are the perfect length on me. I wouldn’t recommend ordering the petites unless you are 5’2″ or under.
Click HERE for the itty bitty boot cut jeans. These are my favorite wash they’ve ever offered. They are a really great year round color.
You got close up pics above, but here’s the entire outfit! The navy floral blouse isn’t part of the Anniversary Sale (which means anybody can buy it today), but it’s super cute. I’m wearing a medium because I wanted it little blousy.
I. LOVE. THESE. JEANS.
This itty bitty boot cut style from this brand is what I named THE GATEWAY JEANS years ago. Once you try them , you will fall in love with the brand, and you will want to try other jeans from the brand. They are stretchy, comfy, flattering, and all around glorious.
Most people become devoted to the brand, and some never wear another brand of denim ever again. SERIOUSLY. They really are that good.
This blouson sleeve wrap top is a great find too. It’s the super soft fleecy fabric that we know and love, but it’s dressed up with the wrap front and the blouson sleeves! It’s cute with jeans, but it’s definitely nice enough to pair with a pencil skirt or work pants. I’m wearing a small here, and it’s a much more fitted look than the other Gibson v neck tunics I showed earlier in the post. It is tacked together at the chest, which I appreciate.
I’m SOOOOO HAPPY they brought these leggings back this year.
I ADORE THESE HIGH WAISTED ANKLE LEGGINGS. They come up above my belly button, and they suck me in like crazy, while somehow still allowing me to breathe and be 100% comfortable. THEY ARE MAGIC. Once I tried the high waisted option several years ago, I have never purchased the regular rise again.
If you prefer the longer length, click HERE to choose from full length, 7/8, plus size, and maternity.
Sizing tip: I’m wearing my regular size small. Click HERE for the leggings.
The SPANX faux leather leggings are in the sale again too! WooHoo!
I’m telling you, if you want to feel like a million bucks, treat yourself to these leggings.
They are great quality, they wash well, they don’t stretch out, and perhaps most importantly – you will feel amazing in them! I size up to a medium in these (I wear a small in all other leggings), and they fit perfectly. I’m guessing a small would work too, but I really like the comfort level of the mediums. They are a couple of inches too long on my 5’4″ frame, but I only wear them with tall boots, so that’s not a problem. And that’s great news for you tall girls that would like to wear them with heels!
They suck you in and totally slim you down, while still allowing you to breathe. It’s a thing of wonder.
Click HERE for the faux leather leggings.
There are several different Charlotte Tilbury sets in the sale, and they all look awesome. Two are make up sets and two are Magic Cream sets. I went with the less expensive Magic Cream set called the Glowing Skin Set (which they didn’t have in my store, but I ordered it).
Supergoop has several sets in the sale as well. This Play sunscreen is a superfine mist, and the whole family loves it. This set of 3 is an amazing deal.
Every single year I grab this NEST diffuser set for myself. The grapefruit diffuser goes in my closet and the bamboo diffuser goes in the dining room. They smell absolutely divine.

And BEAUTY IS GREAT AS ALWAYS! I picked up this Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream and Serum Set. And I finally talked myself into this LED mirror. So many of you have said it’s 1000% worth it, and it apparently is going to help me shoot beauty content for the blog.
That’s it for today! I HOPE YOU LOVED TODAY’S POST AND FOUND IT SUPER HELPFUL. This sale is completely overwhelming, and it was definitely my goal to make it more manageable (and more fun!) for all of you to shop.
