The Tall Cognac Boots You Need

All of our mornings and evenings are crisp, and sometimes the afternoons are as well! It’s been absolutely glorious.

And now that it’s fall, I’m having so much fun getting dressed each day. BRING ON all the sweaters, all the boots, all the flannels, and all the light layers!!! With the change of the seasons, there’s so much great stuff in stores right now, and I’ve found several awesome pieces that I’m super excited to share with y’all today. I even have a darling shacket, y’all. And get ready to see some FABULOUS boots.

OUTFIT #1

Let’s start out with my new shacket! Since the shacket is oversized, I thought it would be fun to style it with skinny jeans… and you guessed it… tall boots.

Officially it’s call an “oversized plaid shirt” on the site, but it’s definitely a shacket.

The shacket comes in several color options, and all of them are great. I do think the “chokeberry leaf” would be a perfect color for Thanksgiving day. It’s made of 100% cotton and is thicker than a normal flannel, so I wouldn’t plan on tucking it in. It’s got pockets and is awesome for layering. For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

When I first bought the tall boots, I knew I also needed a new pair of skinny jeans to love. Because y’all, I might reach for my straight cut and mom jeans a lot right now, but I’ll always remain loyal to a great pair of skinny jeans. And tall boots really shine with a great pair of skinny jeans.

These skinny ankle jeans are from Wit and Wisdom, which y’all know has been my favorite denim brand for years and years. You just can’t beat the fit, and the Ab Solution technology is quite literally life changing. When a pair of jeans can be stretchy, comfy, and flattering as all get out – SIGN. ME. UP. The power mesh panels mold and hold you. They suck you in, but they still allow you to breathe. It’s a thing of wonder, y’all. I’m wearing my regular size 4. With Wit and Wisdom, definitely size down if between sizes.

Okay, let’s talk about these gorgeous cognac boots. First of all, the cognac color is perfection. They are truly the most beautiful warm cognac color I’ve ever seen. I also love the stacked heel, the pointy toe, and the overall fit. I did size up a 1/2 in these.

I haven’t had a chance to wear them all day yet, but they’ve been very comfortable for me for several hours at a time.

If you’re more interested in short booties, I have this pair and love them. I sized up a 1/2 in these as well.

This is the perfect outfit for a football game, a family trip to the pumpkin patch, or even casual family photos.

Outfit #2 is actually the exact same outfit as #1, I just wanted to show you how it all looks without the jacket.

This cream sweater is simple and classic. It’s very lightweight and a very relaxed fit, and I really appreciate the sleeve length. And as you’ll see on today’s post, it’s great for layering. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium, however I’m thinking a small might be a better fit.

OUTFIT #3

I’m in love with this faux suede jacket.

And surprise, the only thing different about this outfit from the first two is the jacket! And it looks like a totally different outfit, right? It’s a totally different vibe for sure.

The jacket is so good. It’s a beautiful caramel color, and it has bronze buttons and tiny little pleats with super subtle puff sleeves. And probably most importantly, it has quite a bit of stretch in it!

It is on the fitted side, and it’s also on the short side, so it probably won’t work on you if you have a long torso. That’s a problem that I do not have. Haha! For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

It would also be an awesome choice for a girl’s night out. And if you remember, you’ve seen me in this jacket once before. I styled it with a black tee, black jeans, and short cognac booties.

Pink plaid? Oh, HECK YEAH!

This pink plaid button up is DARLING. Seriously. It’s DARLING. It’s a lightweight cotton and is super soft. Plaid button ups have always been a staple in fall, but I love that this pink kind of freshens things up. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

You’ve already seen the earrings and the necklace in the first 3 outfits in today’s post, and I highly recommend both of them. However, if you had to get just one, it needs to be the multicolor earrings. They’re so much fun, and as you can see by today’s post, they go with pretty much everything.

The bag is a slouchy leather that can be worn either over the shoulder or cross body, and it comes in 11 total colors! It’s a great everyday bag. It’s lightweight when empty, the leather is super soft, and it holds a ton! The bag is very roomy and the internal compartments make it easy to find things.

I love a sweater dress, do you? I knew when I was featuring tall boots that I wanted to style them with a dress, and the moment I saw this one I hit add to cart.

I had a hard time deciding which color to go with, but I ultimately decided on the dark gray charcoal heather. I think the “pink smoke” is very pretty too, and I’m actually considering that one as all. The dress is super cozy, not at all itchy, and quite flattering. It’s not body conscious, but it’s not boxy either. It’s just a great relaxed fit. For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

I love the combo of the dark grey dress styled with the cognac boots. Don’t you?

Years ago, I think black boots would have been what most would have reached for with this dress. However, over the last several years I’ve seen styling black and brown together become more of a mainstream thing. I think it adds so much more interest to the outfit when black and brown or gray and brown are paired together.

CHARLOTTE TILBURY FULL FACE REVIEW

Did you see Monday’s post? If you didn’t, I would love for you to head there now! I did a review on a full face of Charlotte Tilbury products, and y’all went crazy over the new and fresher look!

I went to Nordstrom Northpark, had my makeup done by Sarah (a traveling regional makeup artist with Charlotte), and soaked up allllllll of her knowledge and then shared all of it on the post.

Now, nobody needs a full cart of new beauty products, but it might make sense for you to grab a new product or 2 (or 3) to freshen up your look too! 🙂 As I said before, my eye makeup was the favorite part of my look, but I was truly impressed with everything from the eye cream to the collagen lip bath lip gloss.

So let’s talk eyes…

She lined my upper lid on my actual eyelash line in between my lashes (not above like I’ve been doing it for years), and she didn’t line my lower lid with matching eyeliner. Under my eye she used the metallic champagne eyeliner on my waterline, and then she used this eyeliner brush to apply Charlotte Tilbury Bronzing Powder where I used to apply typical eyeliner. Sarah said she’s always done the eyeliner in the upper lashline because it makes the lashes appear fuller and darker. You actually put it between the lashes! She does it to every single person that she does makeup for, and I couldn’t believe the difference it made for me.

(When I lined above my eyes, I think it just covered up my eyelashes. Lining in the lash line actually makes the base of my lashes just look naturally dark. It looks less like makeup, and I loved it so much!)

And then, when working on my lashes, instead of using an eyelash primer, she just used two mascaras. She started with the Full Fat Lashes Mascara and then she finished with the Pillow Talk Push-Up Lashes Mascara.

When applying the mascara, she worked in sections and explained how you want to have your lashes look like a spread out fan to help draw your eyes out and have your eyes look more elongated. I’m telling you, my lashes didn’t even look like my own lashes when she was done with them! HANDS DOWN…BEST LASHES I’VE EVER HAD!

And then she just did a light coat of the Full Fat Lashes Mascara on my lower lashes.

I believe her method really opened my eyes up, and the whole look was just younger and fresher!

Lining in my lash line is going to take a little bit of practice, but I’ve done it every day since the makeover, and I’m already getting better at it. See how it looks like the base of my lashes is just really dark? It doesn’t even look like eyeliner!
