When I came up with the idea for this post a couple of weeks ago, I immediately knew it
had to be a Friday post.
Why Friday?
Because FRIDAY IS FUN and THIS POST IS FUN!
I was searching for inspiration on Pinterest for Spring looks to talk about in February and March, and I kept running across pictures of girls in plain ol’ t-shirts and sweatshirts
with super fancy necklaces on.
EVERY SINGLE TIME I saw the combination, I loved it!
The looks were a little bit unexpected at first, but several pictures in, I totally “got” it and LOVED it. All the outfits just looked so polished.
They looked put together without being too stuffy.
Yep.
I was SOLD on this look.
I could hardly wait to start mixing plain with fancy!
One of the things that is so GENIUS about this look is that you probably already have several different shirts that would work for this look that are already in your closet.
What could work?
a plain white scoop neck tee
a grey v-neck
a navy baseball shirt
a lavendar striped tee
a pink sweatshirt
The list could literally go on for days.
So, if you’ve got some shirts that would work, all that you need is a couple of necklaces!
When Bauble Bar sent me THIS necklace, I immediately knew I would be mixing a little plain with the fancy and airing it with my long sleeve navy t.
A little plain + A little fancy = the PERFECT look!

And
what’s cool about these blingy necklaces is that they don’t just look
great with plain ts….they also look great with nicer shirts or even
dresses.

You are so right, Sheaffer, yet again! I am totally a casual girl on most days, but I love the idea of using some bling to kick it up a notch. I'm starting to accumulate more necklaces now that I've realized this fact and am going to make myself a necklace board this weekend so I can keep them stored nicely! Great post…now let's see what tee and cute necklace I can wear today! 🙂

So what type of earrings do you do with a blingy necklace? I usually wear big or blingy earrings, but I'm guessing you need to do something simple with a big necklace?
Kasey says
Is there a specific type of earring to wear with a blingy necklace? I'm more of a big earrings gal, but I'd love to try out the fun necklaces too!

I have always been a firm believer in throwing on a blingy necklace to make your plain ole outfit become something cute and full of life. I especially believed this when I was either pregnant or trying to shed baby weight and not wanting to get new clothes. It made all the difference in the world!
Jen Pogue says
I love this post, Sheaffer! You've totally inspired me {as usual!} to give my scarves a break and break out my blingy necklaces…and maybe buy a few more! I Hope you have a great weekend!

I was wondering if you have tried on the state tshirt from Nordstrom. I plan on ordering one, but the online reviews all say it runs CRAZY small. Any insights???
