Today’s post is sponsored by Nordstrom and ShopStyle.
Happy Wednesday, everybody! Today’s post is two-fold. First, I’m going to show you a couple of great outfits, and I’ll point out how several things I’m wearing in the outfits would make great Mother’s Day gifts. And on top of the pieces I’m highlighting in my outfits today, I’ve also got a Mother’s Day gift guide for you filled with different price points and various types of gifts. But listen, even if your Mother’s Day shopping is done, you still need to see what I’m talking about today. Because whether you are a mother or not, you might need some of these things in your life.
Let’s start out with an outfit that is as comfy as can be, but super cute too! This first outfit is an example of something I will wear all Spring and Summer long. Yes, summer days at home and running around town will be devoted to denim shorts (this cuffed pair and this frayed hem pair are my favorites), but I often find myself wearing jeans at night. When out at a restaurant, the mall, the movies…I typically like my legs to be covered. Most places blast the a.c. in the summer months, and I am always cold!
Sidenote: I fully realize that I’m sounding very much like an old lady right now, but it is what it is. Ha! #justcallmemammaw
side slit sweater /sunglasses / my favorite earrings / blush necklace / Ab-Solution skinny jeans (plus size Ab-Solution skinny jeans!) / wire bracelet stack / reversible cognac tote / bandana (pale parchment multi)/ cognac slide sandals
This sweater is lightweight and perfect for chilly Spring and Summer nights. And the color is gorgeous. (The site calls this sweater “pink bouquet” and it looks like a reallllllllly light blush online, but it’s actually a gorgeous lavender.) It comes in 2 other solids and a great stripe as well. I can hardly wait to wear it with white jeans.
Most of the reviewers recommend to size down, but I was happy with my regular size small. It’s a relaxed fit and super comfy, but not boxy or baggy. I’m wearing it out here, but it can also be worn with a half tuck. The exposed seams and ribbed cuffs and hem are both nice details that add to the overall appeal of the sweater. I’ll be wearing it with denim shorts as well.

Next up, let’s talk about the jeans.
Ab-Solution skinny jeans (plus size Ab-Solution skinny jeans!) / reversible cognac tote / bandana (pale parchment multi)/ cognac slide sandals
Both pairs of jeans in today’s post boast Ab-Solution technology. What’s that, you say? So glad you asked.
If you aren’t yet familiar with Ab-Solution technology, here’s what you need to know: IT’S FREAKING MAGIC. The stretchy waistbands are crazy comfortable, and they suck you in without being constricting. They just make you look and feel great. I’m wearing my regular 4s, but size down if between sizes. And they come in plus size too!
You can click HERE to see all the jeans available with the technology, but the pair below is absolutely perfect for summer. I love the light wash and the frayed hem.
I know that jeans might seem like a strange gift, BUT I’M TELLING YOU, your mama will thank you for introducing her to this brand. MY MOM LOVES THIS BRAND, she owns several pair already, and she would be pumped if I gave her a new pair for Mother’s Day.
Ab-Solution skinny jeans (plus size Ab-Solution skinny jeans!)
After my Bags and Bandanas post last month, I just can’t quit playing with different bag and bandana combos! This too would be a fun gift for your mama!
I just love how these $12 bandanas add so much style and color to a simple bag!
reversible cognac tote / bandana (pale parchment multi)/ cognac slide sandals
These cognac slide sandals (officially called “saddle leather”) are the perfect shade of cognac and will go with just about every outfit combo you can think up. If you are looking for something other than cognac, there are 10 additional colorways to choose from (including cork, snake skin, a deeper brown, and even a pink suede and navy combo)!
They are true to size and comfy. Unlike my other flat sandals this year, these have a padded foot bed, which makes them easier to walk in for longer periods of time. Don’t tell my mom, but she’s getting these sandals from me. She needs to have a tiny bit of support in her sandals, and I think these will be perfect for her. Mom, if you are reading this, just act surprised.

When talking about Mother’s Day gifts, jewelry is always a good idea. First of all, it always fits! Second of all, jewelry often has a sentimental feel to it, and I love that the recipient can think of you each time she wears it.
My favorite earrings ever are light as can be and come in gold, rose gold, and silver.
The newest edition to my Kendra Scott collection is this beautiful blush necklace (officially called “rose/gold”). I’ve loved Kendra Scott pieces for so many years, but I love this updated version of her famous Rayne necklace. There is no chain, and I love how the stone stands on it’s own and is not encased in any metal. The necklace is adjustable, and it comes in 7 additional colors. I also love the turquoise and the abalone. This would of course be an excellent gift.

Check out my arm candy! The gold and blingy bracelet is one I’ve had for probably close to 5 years now. It’s a simple and classic bracelet that is great worn on it’s own and stacked. The wire bracelet stack is pretty new to my collection, and I’ve loved styling the cranberry red stones with all sorts of different colors.

Not only is this outfit cute, but it is incredibly comfy. Jeans that feel like pajamas, a super soft and cozy sweater, and flat sandals. YES, PLEASE!

I’ve got another outfit right here that is also perfect for cool Spring and Summer nights. Even though it’s long pants and long sleeves, the colors and materials keep the look appropriate for warmer months.
striped popover / sunglasses / multicolor hoop earrings / light wash itty bitty boot cut jeans / clutch / bandana (pale parchment multi)/ bracelets / must have wedges
I love the look of a collared shirt and button up, but they often pull at the chest on me.
Popovers give the look of a button up, but with a more relaxed fit and feel. This striped popover is a classic blue and white pinstripe, and the rolled up sleeves and popped collar give it a chic yet casual vibe. I’m wearing a small, so it’s true to size. It comes in a lilac color too, and both would look great with denim shorts and white jeans.
And how much do you love the pop of color that the earrings bring?
These multicolor hoop earrings are very lightweight, but they pack quite a colorful punch! The raffia swirl is fun and playful, and the beaded yellow circles add even more bright and happy color.
All right, time to talk about the jeans again. These also have the Ab-Solution technology I talked about earlier, so rest assured they are also just as soft and comfy as can be. I’m wearing my regular size 4s, but size down if between sizes. At 5’4″, the regular length are perfect on me when I wear tall wedges.
This boot cut style is such a nice change from the typical skinny or boyfriend jeans, and I love how they can be dressed up so easily. These are the perfect pair of jeans to reach for if you’re heading to a girl’s night out or a date night with your man.
And here’s the best part: they are uber flattering. I’m telling you, they make you look 5 pounds skinnier and at least 3 inches taller than you already are. Click HERE for the different colors and sizes of boot cut jeans available from Wit and Wisdom.
The must have wedges are the perfect wedges for these jeans. They too elongate the leg and the combo makes me feel like a million bucks. These wedges are seriously comfy for wedges, come in 9 additional colors, and are an incredible price point at just under $80.
The clutch and the bandana are both absolutely DARLING. I’ve owned this clutch in black for several years, so I was happy to add this new color! This clutch is the perfect size for a night on the town. It easily holds my phone, keys, and some makeup essentials.
These bracelets have been around for several years too, and I know I’ll keep reaching for them for several more. They are timeless and can easily be dressed up or down.

I hope you found pieces in the above outfits you would like to try out for yourself and/or gift to your mom!
And since Mother’s Day is this coming Sunday, I thought I would put together a collage of what I think are the very best Mother’s Day gifts from Nordstrom (some of which I just highlighted above)!
And keep in mind since we are only 5 days out, one of my favorite things about Nordstrom is that you can pay to expedite shipping, but the fees aren’t crazy. You can do NEXT DAY shipping for $20 and 2 DAY shipping for $12! If you are ordering on a Friday by 2:00 CST, you can even do Saturday shipping. Now, Saturday shipping will cost you $35, but it could definitely get you out of a bind sometimes, so it might just be worth it in certain situations! If you live by a Nordstrom you can also choose “pick up in store” and see if it’s at a store near you! All you have to do is enter your zip code, and it will tell you if the item is nearby. If it is, you purchase online, and they will have it waiting for you at your store. Some stores even have curbside pickup, which is incredible and oh so convenient.
Without further ado, here are my Mother’s Day picks! See below the collage for the links and my thoughts.
1. Blardigan – A blardigan has been and will continue to be on every single gift guide I create for a woman from now until the end of time. It’s pricey, but it truly is THE BEST gift to both give a receive. I LOVE GIVING THEM. You get the initial oohs and ahhhhs when they first feel the blardigan, and then you get the follow up texts saying things like “this really is the most amazing thing ever.”. #yes #iknow Click HERE to see all 4 blardigans on me and a side by side review.
2. Blush Necklace – I’ve been a fan of Kendra Scott necklaces for years, and I love this updated design with no tassel and the exposed stone. This pretty blush color goes with everything, but I also love the turquoise and the abalone. You can see this necklace above with the lilac sweater, and you can also click HERE to see it with a fabulous tweed jacket and my darker wash boot cut jeans. Kendra Scott pieces always make a great gift. Not only are the pieces beautiful, but they also come beautifully packaged in a Kendra Scott signature yellow box.
3. My Favorite Earrings Ever – These are the earrings you’ve seen on the blog for the last 5 years. I still wear them at least 3x a week, and I cannot imagine ever stopping. They are as light as can be, and come in silver, gold, and rose gold.
4. Mom Ring – All moms would like this, but I’m thinking soon to be or new moms will absolutely love it.
5. Mom Necklace – Again, all moms would like this, but especially soon to be or new moms.
6. Jo Malone Hair Mist – I have loved Jo Malone fragrances for years, and I cannot wait to try this hair mist! The packaging makes them extra beautiful for gifts.
7. Diffuser – I have 2 diffusers, and although they both work great and we use them daily, they aren’t pretty. This is a lovely little diffuser!
8. Sam Edelman slide sandals – I have these sandals in cognac and love them (seen above with the lavender sweater). They have a padded foot bed and are quite comfy for walking all day. They come in several colorways and are true to size. Click HERE to see them on me with my slim cut boyfriend jeans and leopard button up (scroll to the end of the post for the sandals).
9. Bubble Bath – This is the best bubble bath there ever was. I know what you’re thinking. $39 FOR BUBBLE BATH? I know. It’s shocking. But it’s lovely and luxurious and fabulous. The scent will truly transport you and the bubbles are better than any other bubbles I’ve ever experienced. If your mom is a bath person, TREAT HER TO THIS. I got a bottle 3 years ago at a conference, and I continue to purchase it, even though it’s expensive. I love everything about the experience, including my baby soft skin afterwards. I wanted to read what others had to say about it in the online reviews, and I now want to be friends with the reviewer Kate88Kate. Here’s what she had to say: So make sure your mortgage is manageable and you’ve got a good financial strategy because once you go down the L’Occitane road it’s a one -way trip. KATE! Let’s be besties! Click HERE for all L’Occitane products if you want to check out all they have to offer.
10. Hand Cream Trio – My mom loves a great hand cream. These are great and so pretty. I love the packaging.
11. Fringe Throw – All of us gave these like crazy as Christmas gifts, and they make great Mother’s Day gifts too! (You know how I know that y’all bought them like crazy? They were the #2 purchased item in all of 2018 from the blog!!!) They are incredibly soft and cozy, they come in a myriad of colors, and they just look great thrown in a basket or over the back of the sofa. I had readers saying they bought over 10! Several for themselves and tons for gifts! They launder perfectly and they are super affordable! (And since it’s May, you should know they make fantastic graduation gifts too.)
If you are like me and are behind on buying a gift for your mama this year, I certainly hope this post was a help to you! And remember, Mother’s Day is always a great reason to treat yourself as well.
That’s all for today y’all! A huge thank you to Nordstrom and ShopStyle for sponsoring this post.

I’m soooo nosey! What was the #1 2008 purchased item? I was part of the blanket buying tribe…I bought 4 for my husband and kiddos. All different colors so we have no arguing. I love them!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Heather! It was the Accessory Concierge totes! I only talked about them one day, but it was a killer deal ($17!!!!) and people bought multiple totes for gifting. But seriously, aren’t the blankets the best???? xoxo
Lauren Meyers says
You introduced me to Wit and Wisdom several years ago, and those and Kut jeans are the only ones I wear! I have the boot cut jeans in the darker wash and you’re right, they make me feel great. I just grabbed the boot cuts from today too and know I will wear them all summer long. p.s. I bought 8 throws. Hahaha!
Elizabeth says
I bought my mom a blardigan last year and she still talks about it.

Sheaffer says
Hi, Sharon! I just e-mailed my contact asking for a super fast restock. Fingers crossed!!!!
Coco says
I have a random question. I’m looking to replace the hangers in my closet. What type do you use and/or what do you feel is the best hanger to use with clothing?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Coco! The velvet covered hangers from The Container Store are the absolute best, but they are expensive. You can also grab them at Homegoods, Target, Walmart, etc……..but the Container Store’s are definitely the best! xoxo
