Denim Review | 5 Pairs of Jeans for Fall

Y’all know I’m a jeans girl, and this post is ALL ABOUT JEANS.

And not just any jeans…..but jeans that are all from my very favorite denim brand.  The jeans fit me great, they are well made, and almost all of the jeans from this brand are typically under $80 (even when they aren’t on sale).

SHUT THE FRONT DOOR.

That’s right, y’all.

Girls.  This is denim that looks great AND will make you feel great…for UNDER $80.  Below you can get a quick look at the 5 styles I’ll be reviewing today.  And don’t you worry, all 5 pairs have the Ab-Solution technology that we are all obsessed with.  The power mesh panels slim and hold and suck you in, but the jeans still manage to be super comfortable.  Here’s the deal, I only wear jeans with stretch in them now.  Life’s too short to wear non-stretchy jeans.  Commit that to memory.

If you’ve been following along for awhile, you know I’ve been a loyal fan of Wit and Wisdom jeans and their Ab-solution technology for several years.

So what exactly is Ab-Solution technology? Well, I’m so happy you asked!

The Ab-Solution technology features the following:

•  No Gap Waistband: Jeans are fitted with a no-gap elastic through the waist, keeping the denim solidly in place.
• Slimming Mesh Panels: The front of all Ab-solution jeans are fitted with  power mesh panel to help flatten and smooth. Fitted with ultra-stretch to insure that the jeans expand where they need while hugging your body just right.
• Booty Lift with Sweetheart Yoke and Darts: Strategically placed pockets help to boost your assets, while the sweetheart yolk stitching gives the illusion of a booty lift.
• Sculpting Stretch Fabric.

You know what all that means to me? THAT THE JEANS ARE FLATTERING AS ALL GET OUT.  Stated simply, they make me appear skinnier than I actually am. AND they are stretchy and comfy.

It’s like they’re magic.

And in addition to all of the skinny making technology (ha!), this brand’s price point is incredible.  Under $80 is a  seriously fantastic price for high quality denim.

So, let’s jump in!  You’ll notice that I’m wearing the same black tee  (I’m wearing a medium) and minimal jewelry in all of the pics today so that the jeans can be the focus.  After I highlight each pair of jeans, I do put a bag with most of the outfits so you can see them styled just a bit more.  Also, I’m wearing 3 different pairs of shoes just to show the versatility.

Sizing Info:  I’m wearing my regular size 4 (not petites) in every single pair of jeans on today’s post.  I’m 5’4″ with long legs for my height, and I stuck with my regular size in all of them.  Again, I’m not wearing a petite in any of these jeans.

CROPPED SKINNY JEANS

These cropped skinny jeans are going to be the best choice for those of you petite girls that are under 5’4″.

You’ll see below that I’m showing the jeans two different ways. ON THE LEFT, I have them cuffed like they are on the website.  ON THE RIGHT, I’m wearing them without a cuff.

I much prefer this particular pair of jeans without a cuff.  (I feel like they are too short on me when cuffed and look too country with the cuff. I’m not even sure what I mean by too country, but I stand by it. Ha!)

Although I like these jeans, they are probably my least favorite of the bunch.  But again, it doesn’t mean I don’t like them, I just like the others more!

I do like the back pockets on these, and if you like a clean hem, these aren’t frayed at all.  There’s a tiny bit of distressing around the front pockets and hips and just a small amount of whiskering as well.

STEP HEM GREY JEANS

Let’s talk about these grey jeans.  Because they’re awesome. First of all, I love having grey denim in my closet for fall and winter.  I think they look great styled with lots of different colors (black, white, red, olive, blush, and camel just to name a few), and it’s just nice to have denim options.

As you can see on the site, they are much shorter on the model, but I definitely prefer them the length they are on me.  (Again, I’m 5’4″ with long legs for my height.)  I wouldn’t mind them a tiny bit shorter, but I definitely don’t like them as short as they are on the site.  These do come in petites, but I think the petites would be way too short on me in this particular pair of jeans.

RAW HEM CROP JEANS

Okay, so if I had to choose just 1 pair of jeans to keep from this post, these would be the jeans I would keep.

I’m telling you, THESE ARE THE JEANS YOU NEED FOR FALL!!! #123notakebacksperiod

You will feel like a million bucks in them.

The site calls them “skinny jeans”, but I think of them more of a subtle straight leg.  You can see below how they aren’t super skinny through the calf and they aren’t fitted around my ankles.

They’re a great medium wash with no distressing (just a bit of fading), and I love the subtle frayed hem with the small side slit. They’ve got a great straight leg that’s not too big, and the jeans have just the right amount of stretch in them so they are super comfortable, but they don’t sag during the day. Oh, and they are incredibly flattering with the Ab-solution technology that slims, shapes and lifts in all the right places.  Again, I don’t think they’re a true skinny jean, but they’re not a boyfriend jean or mom jean either. They look awesome with booties, with mules, with flats, and with sneakers.

I’m obsessed with them.

For size reference, I’m wearing my regular size 4, but I would recommend sizing down if between sizes.

I’ve styled this outfit two different ways with the same bag.  Here you see the striped tote turned to the plain side with a bright and colorful bag strap (click HERE for some options).

And here I switched out the leopard mules for my chunky heel booties, and I’m showing the striped tote with the graphic black and white bag strap from Amazon.

I love this outfit.  It’s so simple, but I really love it.

GIRLFRIEND JEANS

I showed y’all some girlfriend jeans back in the spring that I loved, but those sold out and never restocked.  These are a great option!

These are obviously the lightest wash of the bunch today, but I would still wear them through the fall and winter.  There’s whiskering and fading all over, but it’s not too aggressive.  Although I like how they look styled here with a basic tee and sneakers, I also think these would look great styled with a blazer and heels too!

I showed a different tote from this same Amazon seller last year and y’all loved it!  I got a sweet e-mail from the seller thanking me for featuring the bag, and she asked if she could send me one of their new designs.  When I saw this snow leopard tote I happily agreed!

I have to say that I love that even when shopping on Amazon, we are often helping small businesses!

This tote would make a GREAT teacher bag and would be a super affordable option that is similar in design and size to a Barrington tote (although this one is actually a bit bigger).

If you scroll down on the site you’ll see lots of great information and very specific dimensions on the bag.  There’s even a video (on the left) that does a great job showing you just how much this bag can hold! I can tell you it’s a canvas bag that is very well made and quite sturdy.  It’s got nice details like reinforced straps, brass feet on the bottom, and adjustable straps on the side that you can cinch in or let out.  And get this.  It’s just under $30 right now.

FADED BLACK STRAIGHT LEG JEANS

These are officially called “ankle skinny jeans”, but I don’t really agree with that title.  I think they have a slim straight leg (vs. a skinny leg), and I definitely wouldn’t describe them as ankle jeans on my 5’4″ frame.

I have them turned up 1 tiny hem here and you can see they aren’t cropped on me at all, but they obviously would be if you are taller.

They are a faded black (not a true stark black), and I love the wash.

Since the tee and the jeans are both black, I decided to add some interest and contrast with this leopard cross body bag and a pair of neutral booties.

A COUPLE OF SKINNY JEAN OPTIONS

So as you can see, the jeans I highlighted above were all straight legged jeans or girlfriend jeans….but I’ve got a couple of options from y’all that I initially found last year that are still awesome and STILL IN STOCK!  And they are both skinny jeans.

This dark wash pair of skinny jeans is ONLY $68!

If you are looking for a classic pair of dark wash jeans with no distressing, LOOK NO FURTHER.  I like distressing as much as the next gal, but I always need “clean” pairs in my closet as well.  And the dark wash makes them easy to dress up if you’d like.  For size reference, I’m wearing my regular size 4 (not petite).  Size down if between sizes.

Since these are skinny, they would also be great with tall boots where as the jeans highlighted earlier in today’s post wouldn’t work with tall boots.

Also from last year…

If you want a pair of black jeans and you prefer skinny to straight leg, these are for you! These are a stark black as opposed to the faded black I showed earlier.  The Ab-Solution technology holds my tummy in, they are a perfect mid-rise, and the black gives me nice versatility in my wardrobe.

These jeans are so stretchy and comfortable that they don’t even feel like denim.  They feel more like a jegging, but they definitely look like a regular pair of jeans.  I’m wearing my regular size 4 here, and I turned up just the tiny little hem to make them just a bit shorter.

To be honest, the reviews are mixed on these.  Some complain of a really strong chemical odor, but I don’t notice a smell at all (and there are others who agree with me).  I don’t wash these after every wear, so they’ve maintained good color.  But as with all black jeans, over time they will most likely fade.
