Today’s post is one of my favorite types of posts to do. It’s part of a series I call Style It Again, Sheaffer where I take an item that I love, and I style it several different ways. Today the item I’m featuring multiple ways is one of the newest items in my closet, and it also happens to be a favorite item, an item I recently named a MUST HAVE in fact!
Can you guess what I’m going to be styling today?
It’s the MUST HAVE leggings!
Since these leggings were the #1 READER FAVORITE from 2020, I know many of you have them. And because so many of you have them, I thought they would be the perfect piece for this style series. I know it’s so easy to get stuck into outfit ruts, so I think it’s quite helpful to be given ideas for new and different ways to wear things. Today I’m going to show you 4 different pieces that work well with the leggings!
OUTFIT #1: WITH THE RAW EDGE SWEATSHIRT
I first showed y’all this sweatshirt last week with a pair of jeans, but it also goes perfectly with the must have leggings.
More about the sweatshirt in a minute, but let’s talk about the leggings first.
Y’all know I can’t shut up about these babies.
I can’t help it. I ADORE mine, and I think that everybody needs to give them a try.
They are high waisted like the Zella high waisted live in leggings we all know and love. But get this, the waistband is a soft ribbed material. They don’t have as much compression as the original leggings, which actually makes them even more comfortable! And I’ll take comfort over compression every day of the week.
In addition to the cute pockets and the awesome ribbed waistband, there are also cute little bands at the bottom. I keep getting questions on if they are more like leggings or more like joggers, so here’s my official answer: They fit like leggings, but they are more in the style of a jogger (with the big pockets and banded cuffs). They’re awesome.
Also. THEY ARE SO SOFT. Like reallllllllllly REALLY soft.
And I’m telling you, the fit is adorable.
I’m highlighting the “black” today, but I think they are more of a really dark charcoal grey. For size reference, I’m wearing a small. I’ve heard that some people are sizing down in these, but I like the fit of my regular size.
The raw edge sweatshirt is crazy soft, oh so cozy, and looks so dang cute with the leggings.
It’s oversized and a super relaxed fit with a dropped shoulder. The raw seams provide interest and nice design detail, and I love that it’s lined with a light fleece. SERIOUSLY, it’s incredibly cozy. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium here, and I really like the oversized fit. I gravitated towards the blush (like I often do), but it comes in 4 additional colors.
And as you can see, although the first thought is probably to style these joggers with athletic sneakers and a gym bag, they are also cute dressed up just a bit with a nice bag and fashion sneakers.
OUTFIT #2: WITH A RELAXED TEE AND ZIP UP HOODIE
This is a more typical outfit for leggings.
There’s nothing fancy about it, but it’s an outfit that I know I’ll wear over and over.
The full zip hoodie sweatshirt is made of a soft cotton blend, and I know I’ll be grabbing it ALL THE TIME. It’s warm and incredibly cozy. This is the “grey porpoise”, but it also comes in black, navy, and “blue marlin” (which definitely has purple tones). Again, I’m wearing a medium.
You can see here that the tee is a relaxed fit, which is exactly the kind of tee I want to wear with leggings.
It’s flattering, functional, and just plain awesome. It’s a little bit longer in the back, and it covers your backside, which is perfect. To make sure it would be plenty roomy, I grabbed it in a medium.
OUTFIT #3: WITH A RELAXED TEE AND FITTED HOODIE
For Outfit #3, I’m wearing the same relaxed tee and of course the same joggers.
But I traded in the oversized sweatshirt hoodie for this soft and cozy lounge jacket.
The jacket is the same amazing material as the joggers. Seriously. The material is amazing.
If you prefer a more fitted and streamlined look, this soft lounge cozy jacket is going to be for you!
And listen, this jacket is DARLING. It’s very stretchy, has a great stand up double collar, and the gathers are so flattering. It also has thumbholes which I know many of you really like (as do I). For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
You can see in this picture that the tee is peeking out under the jacket. You could tuck it into the waistband of the leggings, or you could pull it down a bit if you want it to show under the jacket.
OUTFIT #4: WITH A RELAXED TEE AND PUFFER JACKET
Okay, for this last outfit, I’m wearing the same joggers and the same tee, but I’ve topped it with an awesome puffer jacket.
Isn’t it so cute!
And get this…it’s reversible!
Please take however long you need to ooh and ahh appropriately.
Right here, you see me wearing it with the black side out (and the olive green on the inside). The black side is quilted, and I love seeing the olive green peeking out.
For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
It only has 3 reviews, but they are all 5 star!
And in addition to this black/olive combo, there’s also a silver/blue combo that looks awesome.
I knew y’all would want to see it reversed too.
I can’t decide which way to wear it is my favorite, but I love that I have options!
If you choose to wear the olive on the outside, it’s smooth and not quilted.
The collar stands up on it’s own, and the drawstring hood is removable. Also of interest is that it’s made from 100% recycled polyester. And it is machine washable, so that’s very handy.
It’s just a great little jacket.
And to further prove that I wear these leggings all the time…here are some previous looks you’ve seen with the must have leggings…
If you already have the leggings and love them, I hope you grab a top or two from today’s post so you can wear them as often as possible. That’s my goal anyway, to only take these leggings off when absolutely necessary. Haha!
