This past weekend I headed to the ranch with family, and my goodness it was just what I needed. I was with people I love, in a place I love, and we had the best time.
I’m going to give you a little peek into our weekend with some fun family pics, and you’ll get to see what I was wearing too. I know you already know that I was comfy and cozy all weekend long, because leggings are pretty much required dress at the ranch. In fact, on Saturday night when all the ladies were cozy around the campfire, we actually talked about how we were so thankful we weren’t in jeans. Stretchy pants are a straight up MUST at the ranch. I mean, with all the chip and dip consumption, jeans just won’t do. Haha!
My life has been crazy busy lately, and I’d been looking forward to this ranch trip for what seemed like forever. It’s the only place I feel myself truly unwind, and I took full advantage of my time this trip.
On our first day it was pretty chilly (and super windy), so I layered a cozy wrap jacket over a long sleeve tee.
I seriously don’t know how I could have been any more comfy than I was.
This cozy wrap jacket is straight up fabulous.
It’s got a funnel neck collar, snap closure, and a super cozy fleece lining. Since it was super windy, I really appreciated the additional length on this jacket. It kept me nice and warm.
I think the relaxed styling is a lot of fun and I definitely found myself wrapping up in it.
For size reference, I’m in an extra small, so it runs quite large. I would definitely recommend sizing down a size (or maybe even 2).
So I know if you read this blog even semi regularly, you’ve definitely heard me screaming and shouting about these leggings.
I can’t help it. I ADORE them. And I’ve basically made it my personal mission to convince everybody to try them for themselves. #dramaticbuttrue
It’s really cute when it’s snapped up as well. And it’s got pockets!
We spent the day soaking up family time.
I really loved my time with this little nugget.
How cute are these two! You can find Conner’s hoodie HERE.
On Day 2, I was ready for fun!
I showed this oversized sweatshirt in a mirror selfie on a Friday Favorites post a couple of weeks ago, and it’s still a favorite. It’s the big and boxy style that’s so popular right now, so definitely prepare yourself for a super roomy fit, but I happen to love it! When wearing fitted leggings, I really like my top to be oversized, so this one really fits the bill. Even in the small, I still have lots of room, so definitely size down if in between sizes (considering I’m often a medium in sweatshirts).
It also comes in black and a soft blue, but I fell in love with this vibrant pink.
And you can see, I layered it over the the long sleeve tee that I was wearing under the soft fleece jacket on Day 1. If we’re going to be honest, I wore this t-shirt almost the entire weekend (including while I was sleeping). I actually put it on because I needed it for additional warmth, but I ended up liking how it looked peeking out at the sleeves and hem. The tee is incredibly soft and is perfect for layering (because it’s very fitted). I love it.
If you don’t already have them, here’s what you need to know about the leggings.
If you read the blog regularly, you know I named them a MUST HAVE back at the end of November. And now that I’ve had them for a couple of months now, I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that they one thousand percent deserve their MUST HAVE status.
They are high waisted like the Zella high waisted live in leggings we all know and love. But get this, the waistband is a soft ribbed material. They don’t have as much compression as the original leggings, which actually makes them even more comfortable! And I’ll take comfort over compression every day of the week.
In addition to the cute pockets and the awesome ribbed waistband, there are also cute little bands at the bottom. I keep getting questions on if they are more like leggings or more like joggers, so here’s my official answer: They fit like leggings, but they are more in the style of a jogger (with the big pockets and banded cuffs). They’re awesome.
Also. THEY ARE SO SOFT. Like reallllllllllly REALLY soft.
And I’m telling you, the fit is adorable.
I’m highlighting the “black” today, but I think they are more of a really dark charcoal grey. For size reference, I’m wearing a small. I’ve heard that some people are sizing down in these, but I like the fit of my regular size.
This was the perfect outfit for hanging out all day. It was gorgeous, but there was a bit of a chill, and I was totally comfortable from morning till the sun went down.
When the sun started to go down, I threw on the jacket.
The jacket is reversible, and I love that I can choose black or olive green.
For size reference, I’m wearing a medium, but it actually fits my sister better than it does me. Once I put a couple of layers under it, it’s not roomy enough for my liking. But Conner loved it and was thrilled when I told her she could keep it.
It also comes in a silver/blue option as well that is so cute!
Day 3 was gorgeous again, and I was ready for another day packed full of family fun.
I pulled out another big and boxy option for the day, and this one is tie dye!
Again, I’m wearing a small, and it’s still very roomy.
The reviews of this sweatshirt aren’t good, but I really do like it! Is it big? YES! Is it boxy? YES! But I’m good with both of those things, you just need to know what you’re getting.
After two days of wearing the must have leggings, I decided another pair was a good idea. These moto leggings have a bit of an edgy vibe and feel great on. For size reference, I’m wearing a small. If you’re under 5’4″, these leggings will be too long on you.
Also, the color I’m wearing just sold out last night, but you can find the same leggings in a lighter grey HERE that seem to be fully stocked!
Such a great day!
I hope you enjoyed a little peek into our ranch weekend. We’re already planning our next visit, and you can rest assured that I’ll be packing all my leggings again.
