Today is the Third Installment of Style It Again, Sheaffer. The first post (before I knew it was going to be a series) can be found HERE. I styled a white tee and a plaid infinity scarf 6 different ways, and it was a big hit with y’all! It opened up a conversation about how you really liked seeing one piece in multiple outfits. After all, that’s how we all dress. We wear things again and again. And again. #andthenagain
In the second post, I went a little crazy. I showed you 3 different ways to style a turquoise sweater, 4 different ways to style a buffalo check cape, 3 different ways to style the red twist front sweater, and 3 different ways to style the tie front grey sweater. MY GOODNESS I don’t know what got in to me! (Most of the tops are still available, so you might want to go check out the post if you missed it the first time around. It will give you lots of outfit ideas!)
So, let’s get to today’s post and the 3rd installment of Style It Again, Sheaffer. When the brand Jen7 Denim reached out a couple of weeks ago and asked me if I wanted to try a pair of their jeans, I hopped online and decided to try these midnight orchid jeans (looks like a dark merlot to me). I tried them, I liked them, and so I agreed to do the post! And since I figured many of you would wonder how versatile a pair of wine colored jeans really are, I thought that I should do a Style It Again, Sheaffer post to prove to you that colored jeans are in fact versatile. And listen, I’ve got 5 totally different outfits for you today with my pair of wine jeans. And I even have a couple of variations of one of the outfits, so we are really talking more like 7 outfits. BAM.
In these Style It Again posts, I’m hoping you will be inspired to take a piece of clothing and rethink it in new and creative ways, because if you’re like me, you probably get stuck in style ruts. For example, if you are in the mood to wear your favorite military jacket, you might always reach for your grey tee and blue jeans to go with it. That’s a great outfit! But in this series, I will make additional outfits with the same military jacket. I might pair it with a black top and grey jeans with scarf…..or maybe even a blush sweater and white jeans with a simple gold necklace. Some changes you’ll see will be simple, and others will be more out of the box.
So let’s get started making lots of outfits with my new pair of jeans !
LOOK #1: Black Top and Tassel necklace (with 2 variations)!
In this first look I used this great tassel necklace to tie the color of the jeans into the rest of the outfit. It’s hard to see the true color of the jeans in this picture (I know they look black), but I promise they aren’t!

I found this picture by googling the jeans, and even though it’s not the picture from the Nordstrom site, I think it’s a good representation of the actual color of the jeans in real life. For size reference, I’m wearing a 4, so I found them to be true to size. I like how they sit right below my belly button, and I thought they were flattering! I did wish they were a little bit tighter around my ankles. I thought they looked best on me with tall boots, but I’m guessing that cuffing them might be able to fix the problem with the lack of ankle tightness when wearing booties or flats.
Jen7 is a sister brand of 7 jeans. Here’s what I learned about the brand: Jen7 is for the woman searching for high quality, slimming, and undeniably comfortable denim. Designed by the denim experts at 7 for all Mankind. All of the jeans have a consistent top block, meaning there is no mystery sizing and no dressing room drama!
Here’s the exact same outfit, but I’m doing a 1/2 tuck with the top and I added a leopard belt! It’s amazing how those 2 small changes make it look so different!

And one more variation…I just switched out the brown boots and bag for black boots and bag.

LOOK #2: Striped Top and a Military Jacket
One of my favorite combos that I reach for pretty frequently is a striped tee and a military jacket. I wear it with regular blue jeans, grey jeans, and black jeans…and I knew the colors would pair great with the wine colored jeans as well! For size reference, I’m wearing a small in the tee.

LOOK #3: Grey Top with Simple Gold Jewelry
For this look, I kept it simple with a grey top and gold jewelry. Might I might remind you, this is one of the fleece tops that I’ve been raving about for a couple of months now. And out of all of them that I’ve highlighted (including the twist front and the side ties), I think this front tie is my favorite!

LOOK #4: Oatmeal Pullover
You know me, any excuse to pull out this cowl neck pullover. I’m wearing the x-small/small.

LOOK #5: Green Sweatshirt
I thought this army green looked great with the wine jeans! It was kind of a little out of the box for me to pair bold colors together like this, but since the army green is kind of muted, it just works! I’m wearing a small in the top.

I just went out on a limb and bought the velvet jeans in that gorgeous “scarlet” color! I plan on wearing them to my husband’s company party. Any styling suggestions?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Jessica! These will be so fun for a holiday party! I’m guessing your hubby’s party is on the more casual side, but you still want to look fancy and festive! I would pair these with like a black v neck sweater (if you search “Halogen cashmere sweater” on Nordstrom you will find one that is 20% OFF!), black heels, and sparkly jewelry! Hope this helps! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂

Hi Sheaffer!
Would you perhaps be able to put together something for a capsule wardrobe? Your MUST haves should one be following the “capsule wardrobe” rule and how you can dress things up & down?
I think you would do GREAT with something like this! – Sarah
Sheaffer says
Hi, Sarah! I already have my posts pretty much scheduled for the next month, but it might be something I can look into doing at the beginning of the new year! Thanks for the suggestion! xoxo, Sheaffer 😉

I love the color of those jeans! I’m pear shaped (& currently pregnant) so I have to sit this round out but will definitely be looking for some pants in the wine color next year!

Great job with these outfits! Just one question: How do you manage the same pose and facial expression in every photo? Cheers for consistency! 🙂

I can’t get to the second post you mention with the turquoise sweater. HELP! Is there something wrong with the links you shared? It’s just keeps taking me back to the originsk December 4th post. I’m dying to see what else you did as a new subscriber!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Susan! After clicking that link, if you scroll down through the first one, you will arrive at the post I’m talking about. I labeled them all “Style It Again, Sheaffer”, so once the new post is live, you have to scroll. However, I can see how that is confusing, so I’ll go fix it now! And I’m so happy to have you as a new reader! WELCOME! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂

Shaeffer can you check the link to your second post please ? When I click either of the links it takes me to the third installment.
Love this series too btw:)
