Spring Tops (and jeans, and shoes, and bags)!

Well, I’m guessing Spring has sprung for most of y’all, because everybody seems to be ready for warm weather recommendations and styling ideas.  It appears that y’all are OVER the cold, OVER booties, OVER coats.  You ladies want light jackets and sweaters, jeans, dresses, shorts and sandals!  I’ve even received some requests for swimsuits, so I’ll start looking at those some soon as well.

But today…today’s post is full of outfits that are perfect to help transition all of us to Spring.  I’ve got lots of great basics that can easily fit into just about everybody’s closets.  Today’s post has pieces from J. Crew, Nordstrom, Gap, and Amazon.

This sweatshirt is in a bold poppy color with a bright white varsity stripe, and I think it’s so much fun.  It’s not too heavy, it’s not too light, and it’s got a bit of a vintage vibe to it.  It has a very relaxed fit, and I love my sweatshirts to be oversized like this.  It’s obviously not long, so I won’t be wearing it with leggings, but I will be wearing it with jeans and denim shorts as well.  For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

I love a sweatshirt, jeans, and sneaks combo when it’s cool in the morning and warms up throughout the day.

This relaxed fit crew neck sweater is one you’ve seen before.  The first time you saw it, I styled it with girlfriend jeans and the studded wedges for a fun and sassy look. It’s a great transition sweater, and I love it here with skinny jeans and patent sandals.  It’s crazy soft, the color combo is perfect, and I love the small stripes.

For size reference, I’m wearing a small in the picture below and it’s still very oversized.  When you pull it out of the box, it will look twice as wide as a normal sweater.  You will laugh out loud (trust me, I did) and think there’s some type of mistake.  But somehow, when you put it on, I think it looks great.  It lays and drapes perfectly!  It has terrible reviews, but I really like it and kept it for myself.  I think it will look great with denim shorts and white jeans too.

This cozy star top is 60% OFF making it ONLY $19.60!  The styling is that of a sweatshirt, but the material is a really soft t-shirt material with raglan seams and detailing.  As long as you don’t expect to be receiving a sweatshirt, I think you’ll love this top!  It will be so cute with white jeans too!  For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.  I would agree with other reviewers that it runs on the slim side.

This puff sleeve sweatshirt is adorable.  Now, listen.  You need to know you’re getting something BOLD when you order this.  Not only is the color bold, but so is the print and the style.  I’m wearing a medium in the picture below because I needed the room in the chest, but the medium was too big for me across the shoulders.  See in the picture below how the shoulder seams hang down too low on me.  If I didn’t need the medium across the chest, I think I would have loved this sweatshirt because the shoulders would have fit me better.

This knit hoodie comes in 4 colored striped options as well as several solid colors too.  It’s a very soft cotton blend that is lightweight but still manages to be cozy.  I like it here with jeans, but I’ll be wearing it with joggers as well.  It will also be perfect with white jeans and denim shorts. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium. It’s got a narrow fit, so consider that when deicing on your size.

I’ve shown this ruched sleeve tee before, but now you’re seeing it with girlfriend jeans and my studded wedges.  I love the whole look.

Do y’all remember on last Friday’s post that I highlighted two different outfits with a military jacket?  The outfits were both head to toe from Nordstrom, so I wanted to give y’all an Amazon option today for those that prefer shopping Amazon.  (Sidenote:  Since my Nordstrom post last Friday I’ve received a handful of messages from people that were like “THANK HEAVENS!  I’VE MISSED YOUR NORDSTROM POSTS!”  But I received just as many messages from readers who thought the price point was too high on many of the items.  When I can I will try to find similar items from both retailers.)

So right now, I’m showing y’all a similar look to last Friday, but the military jacket and the jeans are both from Amazon for those of you that prefer shopping Amazon.

This outfit is one of my favorite spring uniform formulas I follow every year:  tee, military jacket, jeans, and sneaks!

This Amazon military jacket is just UNDER $40, which is a fantastic price point!  It’s 98% cotton and 2% elastane, which means it has a bit of stretch to it (which I love).  It’s got a drawstring waist to let you easily cinch it in, and it’s got a stand up collar!  I’m wearing the “surplus” color, but it comes in 7 total colors. For size reference, I’m wearing a 6 in the jacket which is typical for me in pieces like this.

Here’s another one of my outfit formulas.  This one is super simple, you just switch out the military jacket for a cardigan.  This Amazon cardigan is really soft and has over 3,000 EXCELLENT ratings.  It comes in several colors and patterns, and most are right at $20!  It’s an incredible value.  It’s lightweight, so it’s perfect to transition to Spring, and it drapes nicely with an open front.  For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

And here, I kept the same looks on top (that you just saw), but I switched up the bottom half a bit.

I swapped the dark wash cropped jeans to the lightweight medium wash frayed hem ankle skinny jeans.  I also swapped out the camo sneakers for my favorite patent sandals from Amazon.  These outfits show that as the weather continues to warm up, it’s easy to transition to lighter colored jeans and sandals.

I’ve gotten some comments from ladies that are not ready to trade in their skinny jeans yet…and I want to again  assure you, I’m not trading mine in either! I’m happy to have some different options, but I’ll still be rocking the skinny jeans for sure. Here’s a pair of super stretchy and crazy comfy skinny jeans with a frayed hem that are ankle length. I LOVE THEM. They are especially great when wearing blousy or boxy tops (to help balance out proportions).  They are the same jeans I’m wearing with the majority of outfits on today’s post.

The striped sweater is lightweight and perfect for Spring.  I really like that it’s a looser fit, and it’s now ON SALE for just under $30!  For size reference, I’m wearing a small and it’s still got some room, so I would recommend sizing down 1 from your regular size.

I’ve shown this ruffle tee before with girlfriend jeans and wedges, but here it is with skinny jeans and flat sandals.

I actually didn’t have super high hopes for this ruffle tee, BUT I LOVE IT SO MUCH.  It’s a soft jersey knit, a beautiful color, and it has the fun little ruffle hem.  It’s flouncy, flirty, and oh so cute. For those that don’t like to do a half tuck, this tee is for you! It comes in a pretty green too. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
