Hi Girls! I’ve been receiving a ton of e-mails lately asking me to talk about spring and summer shoes. Seems I’m not the only bossy one around here. 😉 But just so you know, apparently I respond to bossy….because this entire post is dedicated to SHOES! Tons AND TONS of really cute shoes!
There are SO MANY options out there, and I understand that it can be totally overwhelming to make any type of footwear decision! Ha! Fashion can be hard y’all! 🙂 I’m hoping it’s going to be helpful to you ladies to see the shoes I’m personally planning on wearing this year. Because I promise you, I’ve tried on more shoes than I care to admit. I’m also happy to report that I have several pairs of shoes from the last couple of years that I still love and plan on continuing to wear because they are still in good shape, and lucky you… many of them are still available! I’ve also already added some to my closet this year, and you’ll get to see those as well. And because I know many of you would like to see lots of options, I’ll also show you some cute pairs I’ve found online as well as some that I’ve tried on in store. It is my hope that this shoe post is SUPER comprehensive and helps many of you find 1 or 2 pairs of new shoes to try!
The first shoes I’m highlighting are ones that I’ve had for at least 1 season that I still love. And here’s something you need to know. I pretty much refuse to wear a shoe if it’s not VERY comfortable, so if I own it, I can guarantee it’s comfy!
My nude patent flats, my leopard flats, my shoreline converse, my cork wedges, and my MK black wedges are all shoes that I’ve had for AT LEAST 1 year. I love them all, and they will most certainly still be in my rotation. They are definitely tried and true. Just to be clear, after owning all of these shoes for awhile, I highly recommend them. Just click on what you are interested in!
So let’s talk first about flats, because I think they are perfect transition shoes for this weird time of year. You know, that time of year where you feel silly wearing boots, but you feel equally as silly wearing opened toed shoes.
For the last 2 1/2 years or so I’ve worn THESE nude patent and THESE leopard flats A LOT. Like a lot A LOT. And then, earlier this year I finally bought THESE nude leather Felicia flats from Sam Edelman. And boy am I glad I did. These are the comfiest flats I own. And they come in 18 colors. EIGHTEEN. And I’m not the only one that adores these shoes. There are 693 5 STAR REVIEWS on the Nordstrom site. That’s pretty dang impressive.
Here I am last week in the flats, heading out to do errands. The flats and the entire outfit are perfect for those days where it’s cooler in the morning and warmer in the afternoon, and you can wear the flats ALL DAY LONG.
chambray popover (True to size, I’m wearing a small.)/ dusty mauve downright skinny jeans (True to size, I’m wearing a 27.)/ nude leather flats (True to size.) / earrings / arrow necklace / Sheaffer necklace (this is my actual signature that I sent in and was laser cut!) / similar cross body bag (without the braiding detail) / watch / bracelet
If you’ve been reading the blog for awhile, then you know I also love my leopard flats (true to size). They go with so many outfits, you will wear them WAY MORE than you think you will, and I promise you they will become a favorite! They will really up the cute factor of so may of your regular ol’ outfits. Anybody who has leopard flats will tell you that they ADORE them. It might take stepping out of your comfort zone a bit, but I encourage you to try them!
Do you remember the comfort ranking guide I posted sometime last year? Well, I stand firm behind it! 🙂 When I originally posted this guide, I had several readers leave a comment or e-mail me saying they had 3 or 4 of the flats and 100% agreed with my ranking system. #fistbump Now, please know that all 4 flats are comfy…but there is definitely a hierarchy!
1) Sam Edelman leather (lots of color options!)/
2) Sam Edelman leopard flats /
3) Vince Camuto Ellen flats (I’m really loving the new snakeskin ones!)/ BP Moveover flats (most colors now out of stock) 🙁
Some people are shocked at the price of the Sam Edelman flats (at $99.95), so I ordered another pair of nude leather flats to show y’all. THESE are from Me Too. They are quite comfy (not quite as heavenly as the Sam Edelman), but still VERY comfy and they look quite similar to the Sam Edelman’s. They have a lot of padding on the inside, so if you need a lot of great support, these should provide that for you! And they are $69.95, which will save you $30!
I haven’t tried THESE on myself, but they have AWESOME reviews and I love the kind of distressed leather look they have. In fact, they look a lot to me like the Frye flats that are almost $160…but these are right under $60! They are from Macy’s, have great reviews, and are a fraction of the price. Make sure you click on the brown dot (3rd from the right on the Macy’s site) to make sure you are on the right flats (otherwise it looks like several sizes are sold out). This particular pair comes in several other great colors as well, and think the little cross cross braiding detail on the back is such a nice detail.
So, we know I love my nude and my leopard flats…but we must not forget my happy and bright SASSY ANKLE TIE FLATS.
To wrap up the flats section of today’s post, here are some others that have caught my eye. Just click on what you are interested in!
Shoreline Converse are another favorite transition shoe for me. They are actually a favorite for me all year long (even on mild winter days), but they are so easy to wear during a transition from season to season.
Here I am in a typical outfit that I would wear with my converse.
striped v-neck sweater / $12 cami/ similar jeans from same maker (less distressed) / similar shoreline converse / kate spade multi-glitter studs / initial pendant necklace c/o Monica Vinader / figi friendship bracelet c/o Monica Vinader / medium sized leather cross body c/o GiGi New York
As you can see above, you don’t tie the Shoreline Converse, you just slip them on. My exact pair have been sold out for months, but lots of color choices are available HERE. Shoreline Converse are true to size. And they’ll up your cool factor. So there’s that.
TOMS are also crazy comfy and perfect for transitioning between seasons. I have 2 pair of the slip on canvas shoes (both patterns I have are no longer made), but here are some of my favorite options out right now!
OH! And let’s not forget about espadrilles! Because LOVE.
SO, NOW LET’S MOVE ON TO SANDALS AND WEDGES!
Just last Friday I introduced you to my newest wedges, these t-strap beauties made by UGG. Crazy comfy, super versatile, and true to size. And they also come in black and a natural color.
Here was the entire outfit. Click HERE if you want to see the entire post!
wedges / 3/4 sleeve cardi (comes in TONS of colors and true to size, I wear a small.) / white tee (True to size, I wear a small./ $12 cami (Size up 1 size, I wear a medium)/ AG skinny ankle jeans (True to size, I wear a 27.)/ cross body bag / sunglasses / earrings / turquoise necklace
Well, I’ve got an update for you. After writing the post just mentioned, I couldn’t resist and ended up adding THESE to my closet as well. I had talked myself out of them because I was sure that they wouldn’t stay tied, but when several readers commented that they had them and LOVED them, I was powerless against them. Bad news, they are on backorder from Nordstrom. GREAT NEWS: They are in stock and ready to ship (for free!) from UGG!!! Click HERE to hop on over to UGG! And if you are looking for the same bells and whistles in a much lower wedge, try THESE recommended by several readers. Also from UGG, but a much less substantial wedge.
Just listen to what one reader had to say about the above wedges. Hi Sheaffer~ I have followed you ever since you came to our MOPS group at FUMCR!!! My husband and I are in Vegas right now and since I saw your post on the black wedge Uggs and they are on back order online, I saw them while out shopping yesterday…Bought them and wore them all day today while out gambling and walking! I have a messed up foot with a nerve growing the wrong way and need a surgery. I rarely find a shoe I can wear for more than a couple of hours with out getting shooting pains up to my thigh from my foot! Seriously, and I have a high tolerance for pain and I’m telling you sometimes I can’t get my foot out of a shoe! These wedges are amazing!!!! I kept telling my hubby, my foot isn’t hurting!!!! And I’m a girly bow girl!!! So there’s no way I could resist these!!! I am going to do a lot of side tying with this pair with a bow! But, today in Vegas I did the back tie! I LOVE these and I am so glad you posted them!!!! – Sarah F.
Sarah! Thanks so much for taking the time to write me and share that GLOWING recommendation!!!!
As mentioned previously with the tall UGGs, I’ve received several e-mails from you taller girls requesting that I feature some lower heeled wedges. I’ve looked and looked, I even tried some on, but I just wasn’t finding any that I liked. Until now. Check out THESE babies.
THESE WERE THE CORK WEDGES I bought last year and wore the heck out of! I thought they were SO cute, a little bit different, and very comfy! I did order a 1/2 size up (I’m typically a 6 or 6 1/2..must most often a 6 1/2), so I went with the 7. Some reviewers say they ordered a full size up, but a 1/2 size up was perfect for me. The neutral color makes my legs look so long, and I just love the cork look! Here’s a comment I recently received from a reader: “So I bought those cork wedges last summer on your recommendation and they are my absolute FAVORITE shoes. And I usually buy quite expensive shoes. They are cute, great height, comfortable, neutral. Everything a girl could want. Run, don’t walk ladies to get those babies this year!!” – Lisa K.
Here’s the most recent time I wore them on the blog.
pants / white tee / denim jacket / cork wedges / wooden earrings / arrow necklace / $18 bar necklace / leather wrap watch / bracelet
I mean, COME ON. These babies are cute. They also come in a black patent, nude patents, navy and white stripe, and a floral pattern. Exercising restraint is probably futile at this point.
A reader (thank you, Alisha!) ordered the floral ones on a whim and fell in love! How cute will these be with jeans and a cute tee….or a white dress…..or a black maxi dress….or white jeans and a chambray shirt!
And just for fun, look at this splurge vs. steal graphic I whipped up for the cork pair….because I always love a good splurge vs. steal. And I don’t know about you, but I like mine better than the almost $300 version!
tory burch cork wedges / my cork wedges
I also have THESE black MK wedges from last year. And yes, they really are comfy! And true to size. I wear them with jeans, rompers, and dresses. I think the wood inset on the wedge adds such a nice touch.
Here I am in an outfit with them last year. Sadly, everything is sold out but the wedges.
Here’s another wedge option for you! Click HERE for this espadrille from Sam Edelman. I think they are VERY cute and love the color. But here’s the thing, I just didn’t think they were comfy. I felt like the strap around the ankle made walking very awkward. There were no reviews on these, so I couldn’t see if people agreed or disagreed with me. So, although cute, I wouldn’t recommend these.
I know we talked about the much loved TOMS slip on canvas shoes earlier, but now I want to talk about their new sandals. Because they are FABULOUS. They have this awesome interior cushioning, and OH MY ARE THEY COMFY. Like REALLY comfy. I put them on facebook last night, and several people commented that they already have them and that they too think they are crazy comfy. These are true to size. AND LOOK HOW CUTE THEY ARE!
black and white woven sandals / chambray sandals / cayenne sandals
Click HERE for the chambray sandals. Tell me you won’t wear these all summer long. #that’sright #youcan’t
Click HERE for the cayenne. Talk about upping the cute factor of a regular ol’ tee and pair of shorts. What great colors!
THESE are the leopard GiGi sandals from Sam Edelman. I don’t personally own these, because besides super casual flip flops, I prefer sandals that don’t go between my toes. I know. I’m weird. I’m okay with it. But these are SUPER popular, everybody loves them, and they come in a TON OF DIFFERENT COLORS/PATTERNS. These are classic sandals.
Last year I bought a pair of cognac Steve Madden sandals that I wore the heck out of all summer long. They’ll be my go to cognac sandals this year as well because they are still in really great shape.
grey tee /MUST HAVE denim jacket / similar white jeans / similar sandals / brass ladder necklace
They don’t make my exact pair anymore, but THIS pair is very similar and seems to be the 2016 version. I found this year that many of the flat sandals like this have ankle straps, so I was so happy to find this slip on pair for y’all!
Another pair I picked up last year were THESE flip flops from Reef. SOOOO many of you ladies got these as well and all said you wore them all summer long! Well, Nordstrom doesn’t seem to carry them anymore (boo!)….but I found them at Macy’s! WHEW! Click HERE for the Reefs. outfit details: Madewell tee (I’m wearing a small. True to size.)/ hat sold out / shorts sold out
Okay, almost done…just a couple more to show! This pair of Dolce Vita flats spoke to me. Sadly, they are either sold out, or they aren’t online yet. There are three other color combos HERE to check out. I would recommend sizing down a 1/2 size in these.
When I saw THESE, I had to try them on. The block heel is so popular right now, but I just don’t like most of the shoes that I’ve seen with a block heel. But I realllllly loved the look of these. Click HERE to see the other 3 colors they come in. True to size (I’m actually wearing down a 1/2 size here in just one shoe, because it’s what they had out – but I needed my regular size), and they are actually quite comfy!
So there you go, girls! I hope this post was helpful and that you all found a pair or 2 that you would like to try!
Do me a favor, if you have any of the above shoes, please leave a comment with your thoughts! I know lots of readers love to hear what other people think about items besides just me!!! Have a great day y’all! See ya back on Friday!
Erika Slaughter says
I have those Sam Edelman leopard sandals and love them!! So much so-that I ordered a new pair in a brown that’s similar.
Shay Shull says
Oh my goodness! Too many cute shoes to count! I love the splurge vs steal graphic…I honestly think the steal wedges were way cuter than the splurge ones!
Kelly Thomas says
I have two pairs of the Lucky Brand ballet flats and they are super comfy.
Sally says
Are they pretty true to size? In trying to decide between an 8.5 and a 9
Mary Deckert says
Sally, I love the Lucky Brand flats and would say they are true to size, but if you’re in between sizes go up.
Laura says
I took your recommendation and got the black Sam Edelman flats last year/ thank you !! Most comfortable and cute shoes . This won’t help everyone, but those with smaller feet, I purchased the girls size and they are the exact same but at a lower price point .
Narci says
Love my Sam Edelman flats!! They are so comfy!!
Dixie says
I have had the Lucky flats for several years and they are super comfy. I have them in several pairs and couldn’t be happier!
heidi says
Oooh I love those floral ones soo cute.. and girl your legs are ???
Jamie Price says
I own four pair of Sam Edelman GiGi sandals and I love them all! Leopard, Nude, Black, and Silver. I also have the black Felicia flats and they are the most comfortable flats I’ve ever had! I need the leopard pair ASAP! And I recently purchased the Sam Edelman Ennette Perforated Lace Up Booties and they are amazing! I’m not a heels girl at all but I have some events coming up and these caught my eye at Notdstrom. As with all Sam Edelman shoes they are ridiculously comfortable! I usually wear a 6-1/2 but I have all my Sam Edelman shoes in a 7!
Jennie says
Wow! That’s a lot of great information right there! Thank you for such a thorough list of so many different styles for spring. I’m a teacher and a mom of 3 who likes to look cute but I don’t have much time to shop, so I appreciate you steering me in the right direction and saving me precious time. Bring on spring-my feet will be ready! 🙂
Jennifer Harmon says
Wow – SO many shoes. Thanks. I typically do not spend a lot of money (or time) on shoes. But now in my early thirties I think I’m realizing that I’d save more money if I bought a few nice pairs that’ll last versus the cheapies. Those Sam E flats are precious and the seashell pink ones remind me on childhood ballet slippers. I might be sold……lets hope Husband isn’t home when they arrive! ;-P

Those Franco Sarto Espadrilles, in 9 colors – all the heart eyes!!
Rachel Custer says
I have the Lucky brand flats in nude – and they are SO comfy. I actually got them at Nordstrom, and they are not a bad price point at all. Extremely comfy.
Haley says
The Sam Edelman Gigi sandals are the best, seriously!! They are so comfy and classic and will never go out of style. Plus, depending on the color, they go with anything and everything- dressy or casual. I recently bought the black and white woven sandals by TOMS. Hello, comfort! The comfort you’ve grown to love from TOMS in sandal form. I wore them all day while walking A TON and had no problems at all. TOMS can do no wrong in my book. The new Clarissa Cork wedges are also a great option for wedges. They come in different colors and they look great on the foot.
A suggestion: Rainbow flip flops! Although they are pricey for flip flops, they will last FOREVER and are the most comfortable pair of flip flops I own. I can justify the price since I’ve owned mine for 5+ years and they are still as comfortable and look great! You do have to break them in, but they are so worth it!!
Lisa says
Target has knock offs of the Sam Edelman flats for $19.99 (and BOGO 50% of this week)!!! LOVE!!

I just ordered the lucky flats! If you use code GREAT at check out you get 25%off!! #nobrainer
Thanks for sharing some fabulous options!
Liz says
I think i am going to order the Reefs, I saw you had them last year and I didn’t take the plunge and I’m actually glad they have them at Macy’s because I have a gift card that needs to be used. One question on them though, do they run true to size? Some reviews say they run small, what has your experience been?
Sheaffer says
Hi Liz! I just went to check mine, and I can’t find a size on them anywhere. However, in flip flops I find I often do go up 1/2 a size, so it wouldn’t surprise me at all if I did in these. Sorry I don’t remember! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Brandi says
I just used promo code GREAT to order these Reefs at Macys and got 25% off. That code will also get you 30% off if you order 2 or more pairs
Chrysta says
As far as flats, have you tried the dexflex from Payless? They are amazing! I am a teacher and pretty much only wear flats, and these are my favorites. I have so many pairs in different colors.
Nicole says
I was going to suggest the dexflex from Payless too! I own 3 colors and I love them. They come in lots of colors and prints and are very comfortable and inexpensive. I believe the normal price is $30 but you can get them on sale most often. I usually end up spending $13 or so. I can only wear comfortable shoes so when I tell you these are comfortable, they really are! Thanks for the awesome shoe review Sheaffer! I’m fairly new to your blog but I really love it! 🙂
Stacey Claassen says
I love this post and have purchased many by you recommendation! Do you wear a sock with the Converse? I just got my first pair and I think I am having a hard time breaking them in? I love the look with an outfit, I just can’ wait for them to feel a little better.
Sheaffer says
Hi Stacey! Sometimes I wear socks, sometimes I don’t. I have mine on right now without any socks! My favorite socks to wear are random ones that I’ve found at Target and Old Navy. Hope this helps! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
denise says
Thanks for all the terrific shoe recs! I am *this close* to buying the cork wedges and the UGGs with the bow are calling my name!
Wandering around Target yesterday I spotted a dupe for your Steve Madden sandals from last summer. They’re the Mossimo Supply Co. brand and only $20. Obviously they aren’t real leather (bummer) but they were actually really comfy. I prefer leather sandals but the Target version might be good for anyone who wouldn’t wear them that often or might just really want a bargain. 🙂
Laura JeanS says
Love the post! Quick question… what are those red shorts you have on with the navy Madewell t-shirt? I need some casual shorts like those! Thanks 🙂
Sheaffer says
They are from GAP, but they are at least 3 years old (and maybe even older than that). Sorry I’m not more help! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
rie says
Browsing links for your favorites, I came across a lovely, unique necklace, the “Sheaffer Suede Tassel Necklace.” Have I missed an important detail here? Did you inspire this uber-fun necklace?!? Love, love, love your show!!!!
Sheaffer says
Yes, they named the necklace after me! Isn’t that sooo fun?!? 🙂
rie says
FanTAS-tic!!!!! Now I want it even more 😉
Heather says
As far as the Lucky flats from Macy’s, I ordered these last April to replace an off brand pair I had purchassd several years before. I was using them as a transition shoe so I’ve only worn them I’d say a couple times a week last April and May, September and October, and now a few times in March. By October the front of the soles had started to rip and the heel is crinkling…if that makes sense. The last pair of black flats I had I bought from a Shoe Dept. and were not a name brand and held up for 3 years. I would not recommend the Lucky flats. They look pretty, but I’d splurge and buy the pricier ones so they last!
Becky @ bybmg says
Great picks. I adore the floral wedges! I have had a pair of those Lucky flats in the past. They are comfy, but the leather didn’t stay nice very long.
Lisa B says
Great post Sheaffer. Um that post about the cork wedges was me, Lisa B (not K). ? Boy do I love those shoes!! Thanks for all the additional recommendations. ?
Sheaffer says
Oops, sorry Lisa!!!!! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Lisa B says
No problem! I’m famous now!! Can’t believe I was quoted in one of your posts. ?
Deanne C. says
FYI – there’s not many sizes left @ Nordstrom online in the “Peached Shorline” Converse but Zappos has all colors and sizes 5-11 – I’m definitely trying them! Thanks for the awesome post. You save me SO MUCH TIME!
Danielle B says
I have two pairs of the Lucky Brand ballet flats and they are super comfy. I have the leopard print and a cute metallic gold type color that doesn’t seem to be available anymore. They actually get more comfortable the longer you wear them. However, they do not have great support so I wouldn’t wear them to an all-day walking event. Also, I wear little “footie” no show socks with them so my feet don’t sweat.
Chris T says
Love your shoe review but I am one of those who like a little lower shoe that has to be comfy. I found these on Shoes.com and took them on vacation. Wow great looking shoe and could walk anywhere in comfort. Here they are.

Oh, how I wish I could wear all those wedges! But I fear even the low ones are too high for me. I’m strictly a flat-type girl. And after saying on your last post that I don’t shop much at Old Navy, I went there yesterday for the short pajamas (on sale for $14.97) and ended up buying three pairs of flat sandals on sale also. Actually, I bought four because I also bought my daughter a pair of SF Giants flip-flops, again, on sale.
Donna says
What color are the converse shorelines in your picture?
Sheaffer says
Hi Donna! They are called “papyrus”, but they’ve been sold out for quite awhile. So sorry! xoxo, Sheaffer
Alison Connors says
Just found the Converse Peached Shoreline in Dolphin, on Kohls website.
Cant wait to order the Leopard flats!
Mary Deckert says
I have the Lucky Brand flats in leopard and love them. They are very comfortable and you can run around in them all day.
Amy Kleis says
Hey girl….just a heads up that most of those wedges you posted, especially the Uggs, don’t fit wide feet well at all…..The B.P. cork style were super cute, but if you have straight toes, another not soo good, if straight toes even makes sense to you. But the Sam Elderman flats are super comfy and have no issues with my wide feet.
Alis says
Have you tried Tieks? And if so, what do you think?
Sheaffer says
Hi Alis! I have a pair. I think they are fine, but I don’t love them. For the price, I would suggest the Felicia flats from Sam Edelman! Xoxo, Sheaffer
Melissa says
Found some comfy copies of your Steve Madden sandals at Target earlier this week I had to share. They’re Mossimo Lina, and only $20. Plus Target’s shoes are on sale right now! Just a heads up for bargain shoppers who love that look! http://www.target.com/p/women-s-lina-gladiator-sandals/-/A-50014889#prodSlot=medium_1_79&term=mossimo+shoes

Hi,
I know you said those pink/red shorts are sold out, but can you tell us who makes them?
Sheaffer says
Hi Erin! They were from GAP. But they are several years old. So sorry! 🙁 Xoxo, Sheaffer
Leann says
I have the Lucky flats in several colors- my favorites! I also love Tom’s flats- take a peek sometime!
Rachel says
Hello! I ordered the Reef flip flops from Macy’s and they are no longer available. ? Do you know where else I can find them?
Sheaffer says
I don’t Rachel. So sorry! Xoxo, Sheaffer

I loved your all cork wedge but thought it was little tall for me. I ended up ordering these from DSW and they are so cute…bonus they are comfortable too! Thought you might want to check them out.
